Starting in June, users of Mercari, one of Japan’s biggest e-commerce platforms, will be able to pay for products using bitcoin. Users of the platform will also be able to use proceeds from sales to buy and sell bitcoin. See more for yourself here (https://news.bitcoin.com/report-japans-e-commerce-giant-mercari-to-accept-btc-payments/).

Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

This is indeed a great development and a positive news to the Bitcoin community in general. As a great supporter of Bitcoin adoption, I see e-commerce as a big contributor when it comes to vast adoption. This would give opportunities to those who don't wish to invest in Bitcoin, but wish to use it as a regular means of exchange/transaction via the p2p method.

Converting every btc to a stable coin in real time is also a positive way of thinking. No party would certainly wants to be at lost due to the volatility of Bitcoin. And also, having partners that aids real time convertion to every btc Mercari receives is also a great thinking. I solely believe that other e-commerce companies would emulate what had just been done in Japan.

Very good news to hear this news, but there is a service from Japan called Zenmarket that accepts Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency payment for years, so you can use it even now for additional fee.
What is interesting that Zenmarket was already working with Mercari, Rakuten, Amazon and YahooShopping all this time, this are all biggest shopping giants in Japan :)
Zenmarker is using Coingate and they charger 3.5% deposit fee, same like for other payment options like Paypal, Alipay and card payments.
