Title: What should be done here in the face of a clear scam?
Post by: Don Pedro Dinero on January 19, 2024, 04:38:23 PM
I've just replied to the following thread, which is promoting a scam 'system'.

Mine BTC daily 8% free passive income (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=315813.new#new)

On BTT, where I come from, scams are not moderated and there I would have tagged the account and/or probably opened a scam accusation on the appropriate board for it.

What should be done here?

His usual reporting on the Reputation, Scams and Phishing board is appropriate because he has done a ponzi scheme or cloud mining which is clearly a scam.

So we caution everyone against joining such schemes, but is -karma enough? Or does it need to be flagged as negative? But I don't understand the tagging.

This forum has two boards for scam and reputation related issues but it's really not very active.
Reputation, Scams & Phishing (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?board=84.0) or Scam Accusations & Forum Court (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?board=168.0)

If a moderator of a particular board on this forum is very active, then you can actually use the "Report to moderator" button below the post and report it to a moderator to see if it gets deleted or not. Since you cannot tag the user, you should report the thread. This forum actually has a feature to give either positive, negative, or neutral feedback to someone, but it's not working from my end. You can try it to see if it works for you, and then you can drop a feedback to the user. Better still, you can report it on the above boards.

As you can see, that topic is already deleted. So if you see some scam posts or topics, it's better to report them some way to moderators so they can investigate the issue and take an appropriate action.

I am also teleported from BTT here and whenever I see such posts on BTT I ignore them sometimes because I know they will be removed in a fewer time, and mostly I report them to the moderators, I never opened some spam accusations against them in reputation or other similar boards, because creating a whole thread would be tiresome and time-consuming. And why we should spend a lot of time on creating such topics.

While we can just report that topic or post to the moderators and our work will be completed, as the account will be banned or the post will be deleted after reporting it to the moderators. I suggest you should do the same, try to report it to the moderator and try not to make some long replies under such topics because at the end these topics are going to be deleted either way so don't waste your energy.
