In simple terms, airdrops are free tokens distributed by developers as part of their marketing. Usually, you have to qualify first by fulfilling some tasks and those tasks were meant to spread awareness of the brand. It could be as simple as sharing/posting on social media and/or being an active participant in their ecosystem through staking and/or trading using their apps.

Hi
Please what is airdrops
Did you ever play PUBG or any multiplayer video game, like Call of Duty etc. If yes, then we get airdrops in these games, which give us special type of perks like guns, coins, skins etc. It all depends on the game and level you are at. But in cryptocurrency, while using the projects, like swaps, exchanges, bridges, or testnets, we somehow become eligible for those airdrops with perks.

Means we become eligible for airdrops on the basis of our past activities with some platform which have not released there token yet. And in that airdrop, the project reward there users on the basis of there activity by giving them there native tokens for free, or free NFTs etc. Which after the listing becomes valuable and you earn good profit and might not receive any profit as well. It all depends on the platform's success.

Airdrop is a new coin promotion medium. Airdrop projects are usually promoted for free through different hunters. When various hunters launch such airdrop campaigns, they are promised that they will be paid if the project is successful.  There are hunters who do all these free airdrop campaigns hoping for something good and if the campaign is successful then if the team thinks they will pay the hunters then they pay and if they think they won't then the hunters have nothing to do. However, most of these free campaigns are not successful and even if they are successful, they cannot be said to be 100% paid. But there are many coins that are listed on the best exchanges and have paid hunters through airdrop campaigns.

Hi
Please what is airdrops
Airdrop is a campaign where participants receive free altcoins. The purpose of this campaign is to invite people to join and promote the project's community. There are different rules to be eligible for the airdrop rewards. The first and simple rule is to join and follow their social media channels and become part of their community. The other rule requires participants to complete certain tasks before receiving the rewards. Sometimes, there may be additional expenses like gas fees. However, the ultimate goal is to complete the assigned tasks and receive the airdrop rewards.

Hi
Please what is airdrops

You are probably looking for free money.

In my experience, you won't make money with airdrops. Most of the are not worth your time and your personal information you need to handle (registration, email, follow on social networks, etc etc).

you are basically making cents for all those small tasks.

Some airdrops are worth, specially when they airdrop you for some activity you made in a blockchain. For example, using a lot of swap services, lending, etc... however, they are a bit unpredictable.

Not really. There are still profitable airdrops available if you know how to find them. If you come across a good airdrop, the tokens given can be valuable. You can discover worthwhile airdrops by joining different groups on social media like Facebook or Twitter. The airdrop you referred to, where they request your personal information and ask you to follow their social media accounts, is a scam intended to collect personal data for dubious purposes which should be avoided.

Hi
Please what is airdrops
Airdrops are type of rewards people can receive for joining or contributing in a project in various ways. some airdrops require complex tasks such as staking, bridging and some airdops require simple tasks like social media sharing, content creation, and some airdrops require even simpler tasks such as joining their discord and following their twitter handle.  all depends on the projects and how they put together their airdrop programs.
Becareful while joining airdrops because that's the most easiest way scammers target people. by attracting people towards airdrop and stealing their money. create a separate wallet only for joining airdrops and do not store any funds in that.

Hi

According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airdrop_(cryptocurrency))
Quote
An airdrop is an unsolicited distribution of a cryptocurrency token or coin, usually for free, to numerous wallet addresses. Airdrops are often associated with the launch of a new cryptocurrency or a DeFi protocol, primarily as a way of gaining attention and new followers, resulting in a larger user base and a wider disbursement of coins.
Therefore, Airdrop, in simple terms, can be described as a method of advertising a new crypto token for users to be able to hold, so that the project will gain popularity. Most times, the new project team brings the airdrop advertisement to a crypto forum so that people will perform some tasks and get the coin as their reward.

Hi

Airdrops are like short-term tasks, in which many things matter, for example, some airdrops are given to those who have done some specific task within some specific time period, and some are given to those who have some specific NFTs, these types of airdrops are mostly more profitable but are rarely found by everyone. Some airdrops, only require you to do some tasks before a deadline and in my experience, these types of airdrops are not that profitable.

For example, the latest airdrop which have earned people thousands of dollars is the Manta paradigm airdrop, where people have to stack almost 1 eth but minimum was 0.2 ETH, well, those who staked it in the last 10 days of December, they made a good profit but only those people made big profit who had made some activities on that platform before the airdrop was announced.

Do some small tasks to get rewards. The tasks you do are usually related to promoting a platform, such as tweeting on Twitter, or making posts on Facebook or other social media. Usually there are a lot of airdrop participants, because they consider this to be the easiest free coin to get.

What you need to pay attention to is, you may only get paid with tokens circulating in the relevant platform ecosystem, but that cannot necessarily be converted into FIAT. So, getting cash from an airdrop is something random if the airdrop participant's payment uses tokens/coins with zero or low liquidity.

Exactly. While in the real sense, nothing is free in crypto. Anything free won't have much value or get you to riches in any way. It is better to disregard them because they aren't worth the stress of doing the minor task of promoting them on social media channels, whereby you will get a worthless token or no token at all.

I usually give you a tip in small form, airdrops are tokens when created in new form. The token is released for free on social media by various hunters to gain exposure, and investors are subsequently created on the airdrop platform. Investors make this investment if the token is successful and distribute it to people thus creating a Wardrop free posting.

Just be all aware that there are fake and scam airdrops coming from trusted platforms, just yesterday I received an email from Cointelgram a trusted news media about their airdrop, I ignored it because I don't go for airdrops anymore and thought that I would just wait for more news on this airdrop since its coming from a big media news.

And my hunch is right a few hours later another email came from Cointelegram informing those who received the newsletter that it's fake news

Hi

Airdrops are a type of reward that some people will give you through social media shares and posts. This is actually done to promote many companies. Doing so may expose your personal information. I will tell you that for airdropping you can create a separate account for your transactions so that you are safe from all sides.

Hi
Please what is airdrops
Airdrops are basically free crypto-currencies in small amounts that are given to those people who complete some tasks. The developers of the crypto-projects give those airdrops for free so they can get some promotion in exchange of those airdrops.

That's how most crypto-projects build huge community who hold those airdrops in hope that the value of the coins will grow overtime and at the same time they get some investors who might purchase their coins when they launch those at presale sites.

Airdrops are kinds of free rewards given to participants who partake and performs some specific task and they are being giving some tokens for their time being, most of the airdrops are very difficult to say because they often uses participants to boost their social media handles which includes facebook, twitter and linkedin after which they gave people their participants peanuts for their spent over there.

Being a beginner doesn't mean you should not be able to research on basic questions to find answers yourself. A very simple question that can be looked up online in a few minutes and there you will get your answers.

Next time as a beginner you need to learn how to carry out research on your own and not bring up every questions you imagined in your mind to the forum. Forum members are always there to help and guide you but show them you are willing to learn as well.

You already have a lot of answers to your question already.
