I don't know if it was this same report or a similar one that I commented on the other day in another thread but it rings a bell. I just don't believe it, for starters the report comes from crypto.com, which is an interested party but if we go to the figures they say that there are 580 million crypto holders? HAHAHAHAHA.

So 7.4% of the world's total population are crypto holders? If we take into account only the adult population that represents more than 10% by far. No way.

It is not the number, but more about the % that interests me. Are we really sure that we rose by %34 in a single year? I mean I am not sure how these type of things are calculated at all but it looks like we are talking about something that would be a lot better to approach. I hope that we could get to a point where we may end up with some win, and all these people would help us. Even in a world where people invest on average just 10$ (on average, not all people) that would be 5.8 billion, that would take the price so much higher. Some of course would not invest at all, and some would invest millions, I mean like on average. More people equals more chances of going higher if you ask me.

Although I am not convinced that the numbers are accurate, 580 million is a good number given the relatively short lifespan of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

Statistics about the owners of cryptocurrencies in the world are usually not accurate because most people who work in crypto prefer to hide their identity and maintain their privacy, given that crypto is banned in most countries of the world.

Therefore, it is difficult to obtain accurate numbers. Personally, I expect the real number to be greater than that.

This growth rate is so shocking  :o but we also saw the same hype back in 2021 too. And this all adoption is only due to the bull run. No matter what the report is saying, people always follow ways that can make them real money. Reports say BTC got more adoption due to ETFs and Ordinals, while ETH was due to staking upgrades and these reasons are authentic ones.

But human nature is very straightforward forward sometimes becomes hard to understand it, people bring more money into the market when they know the market will go up either its of BTC or of ETH. They will invest more, just before the bull run. Many missed the opportunity but again when they get one they don't and invest more then they were going to invest before.

I can't agree more with you, before every halving event a great number of newbies and old investors, enter the market in the hope of making a good profit. And that's normal for all of us, we need money, and if the smart ones are getting one chance of making then what's bad in using it?  That's the only reason coming to my mind that has attracted people to invest in the crypto sphere. This event has attracted companies like BlackRock and Grayscale etc. to apply for BTC ETF and now they are applying for ETH ETF.

I am assuming these numbers will triple in the upcoming 2 years maybe more than that, These numbers indicate that the Crypto market has achieved a lot in these few years, only the BTC has covered a lot of market cap and outperformed all of us expectations.

This is a good number that means adoption is continuing even if there is a lot of hacking and scamming going on in the Crypto space, people just have to see the positive side of Cryptocurrency for them to fully believe that Cryptocurrency is the future, people will have no choice but to fully accept Cryptocurrency because if they decline their devices and the way they pay will be outdated, soon all merchants will have Cryptocurrency as a means of payment, the future is really looking good for Cryptocurrency.

With a misrepresented poll published by someone who has a prior interest in the result being what it appears to be.

This one is simply a fat lie.

It would be shocking if the numbers were real.

I am assuming these numbers will triple in the upcoming 2 years maybe more than that <...>

HAHAHAHA, so according to you, in just two years, 21% of the world's total population, or more than a third of the world's adult population, will be holding cryptocurrencies.

This is a good number <...>

It would be if it were true.

...//:::

Let's go by "parts" or millions...

These are data that can only be estimated, they are not precise and to have an idea, Binance has 150 million users.

That is one of the figures to which we could be capitulating an idea, and outside that range it is speculative.

I did not realize I just said 1.6+ billion people will adopt BTC and other crypto platforms.  :D :D Silly me. I think I got over excited or became an idiot, but hey who knows, do you know? Not being rude just asking! We never know the future, maybe more than 2 billion people will adopt crypto or BTC. There is still a chance. In today world, YouTube, Facebook other many apps are being used by more than 2 billion people and these apps achieved this number in the time span of 4 to 8 years.

I know these apps have no comparison with BTC or the crypto sphere, but still, the future can change with new innovations and new innovations can change the interest of people. I belief ETF's like innovation is the first step to make that possible.

I know that we're already millions but I don't know if we're that pass half billion for the entirety of crypto owners. Maybe the stats included all of those wallets that has some dusts as it is generally saying about crypto, so even coins that have been abandoned for a long time as long as it's on the wallet, maybe they're able to count it. But no doubt that we're already millions but it is just hard to find a better source for this kind of stats.

They didn't tell us how they conducted the survey and came up with these numbers, i honestly don't believe data like this and i think news websites simply publish information like this to promote their website and to get clicks. BTC spot etf's in the U.S. market was approved this year, and the data in the news is from 2023, yet they say the increase and growth was due to the approval of spot etf's.

As others have said, I'm also have skepticism on the numbers, not that I don't like crypto to reach globally, but something is off about those numbers that we really have to question on they got it in the first place.

And so with that, just like everything in crypto, it's going to be speculative and we may never knew the actual data.

It might grow in the next couple of years or it is really off, to say the least.

Despite maybe the questionable source of this estimate, what is sure is that there is that increase of people who are now into cryptocurrency compared to years ago. More and more people are now seeing how this industry can help them in their quest for financial freedom and there are those who look at Bitcoin and other digital assets as one of the best vehicles for trading. For ordinary guys like me, it is HODLING that can be more attractive but we should just vet it well and not be dissuade to go for questionable coins or tokens that can crash in price anytime. Part of the increase can be attributed to some countries who experienced run-away inflation lately and people there wanna protect their assets with the use of crypto acting like a safe haven with a good potential for growth. I would assume that in 2024, there will be further growth as this is going to be a very exciting year for cryptocurrency most especially Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Certainly, I have no doubt that there is an increase in the number of people using cryptocurrencies now compared to previous years. This is exactly what I meant when I said that the report is inaccurate because most of these people prefer to maintain their privacy, so it is certain that the numbers are much larger.

There is no doubt that these numbers will grow at a very rapid pace in the coming years for many reasons, including what you mentioned, that cryptocurrencies help people in their quest to obtain financial freedom, as well as due to the inflation that most countries suffer from, and the endeavor of most people to preserve their assets by converting them to cryptocurrencies.

We are 8.1 Billion.
That 580 million is worldwide.
I was looking at internet about stock and found about 158 million Americans own stock which is 61% of U.S. adults. That's only in America. The number for worldwide will be larger than 580 million.

I think you're right the number of stock holders might be higher than crypto holders but still it's a great news for us that almost 580 million people are aware about crypto-currencies. Only within 15 years the crypto-community has grown so huge what if most online sites implement crypto payments instead of PayPal then we will see huge surge in amount of crypto users. I hope that day will come when most of the websites and businesses will impalement crypto payments.

This is showing that the crypto community is really increasing every single day by day, but one thing about all this statistics is that we can't tell how correct they are, and the numbers might either be above or more than what they have shared for it to be.

If we check very well, many people have more than 1 crypto wallet, both Ethereum and bitcoin wallets, and almost all of them have different holdings from different sources, which they can presume to be wallets for different people. Let me take myself for example. I have more than 3 active wallets for both Altcoin and bitcoin holdings, and if we are to check, it could be counted as each user, and then again, we can't also get the figure of those who hold their crypto on crypto exchanges.

I am thinking if the score is 580 million crypto to 2 billion stock.

It means crypto is doing very well.

But I think 580 million is wrong here is why.

https://coinmarketcap.com says all of crypto is worth 1.65 trillion

so if 580 million use it some simple math shows

1650 million/580 million = $2.84 usd worth of coins per person.

I do not believe those numbers.

Nope that's calculated in wrong way man, 1.65 Trillion isn't 1650 Million, it's 1650 billion. I have calculated it myself and the total result is around $2,806.12 USD worth of coins per person not $2.84 USD

1.65 trillion = 1,650 billion
588 million/1,650 billion  =$2,806.12 USD per person

Now that's also not true because there are many people who hold more than $10 million worth of crypto and at the same time there are also those users who hold less than $1 worth of crypto. It would be much difficult to determine the balance of 588 million crypto users.

crypto global adoption keeps increasing everyday because the more some are getting to know about bitcoin, they are making their decision on adoption and making investment in it without wasting much of time, this is what we see keep increasing every day, more information concerning that could be seen from their various market caps, i believe this year adoption is going to be more than the former as the number of owners will also mark a tremendous increase

You can't believe anything that mainstream media says, but definitely crypto awareness is growing.

And what people should get is that the more people use crypto, the more stable it becomes relative to fiat currencies because big transactions (selling btc for example) would have less of an impact if the BTC market is one trillion than if the BTC market is 1000 USD.

Obviously there are more complicated things onvolved in crypto prices, but at a very basic level, it works like that.

So....just use crypto!!

I don't know the details of the statistics. I don't know if they are reliable. However, after the ETF approval, this number will undoubtedly increase even more. I think we are at the beginning of the road, and one day, when mass adoption is complete, we will look at today's numbers and smile. Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are one of the best ways to transfer and store our assets.
