Title: [SUGGESTION] Sending Karma
Post by: Mia Chloe on February 10, 2024, 05:14:21 PM
A few minutes ago I encountered a little difficulty while I was surfing the forum. Now if you notice , the karma giving buttons  are on the post page and actually take effect immediately it is hit. Due to this I clicked the [+karma] button accidentally and unknowingly to me via my PC cursor. I had already finished reading the post and was about proceeding to another page when I noticed the reload on my current page and the karma had increased by an additional one which I didn't want to give on that particular post.

Now my suggestion is quite simple i am of the opinion that both the +Karma and -Karma open up a new page with a prompt message when hit. Probably something like this;

This will prevent members from accidentally giving [+Karma] or [-Karma]

Even there is no limit on karma, I think your suggestion was a good idea. Because many times a wrong click can also give negative karma to other members.
Anyway you can move your topic on the Suggestion Box (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?board=358.0) board. From the left corner of bottom

I don't think it's a bad idea at all. It's like a confirmation page that also ensures you don't press the wrong button. You could also achieve this by showing a pop-up for confirming the karma given. It avoids opening a full page that might seem complicated. But since the goal is the same, I don't mind that suggestion.

Even if a solution like this isn't implemented, I can still send karma again every 10 hours to someone I mistakenly gave negative karma to due to pressing the wrong button or other accidents.

Thanks alot I tried moving it but later found out that only mods can move posts.
Anyways I think a new pop up page will prevent accidental sending of karma.

This is a great suggestion and I believed it will help us to give Karma unnecessarily. And if it is possible the total number of karma should be giving at a time should be mentioned. There are some post that I wanted to give more than 1 Karma but because of the limited giving at a time we can't give more than 1. I like the suggestion.

This is a very good idea and one that is support be implement, we actually do not loose karma by giving karma, either it be positive karma or negative karma, but it can still as well be painful, or regretful when one mistakenly gives a users either a positive or negative karma, that is positive karma to an undeserving post, or negative karma to also an undeserving post.
And also think of the fact that the both karma buttons are so close to each other, and for anyone on mobile, there is also the possibility of mistakenly clicking a negative Karma when you intended clicking the positive karma button, and also clicking the positive when one intended clicking the negative Karma button.

All of such possibility of mistakes can be easily prevented by introducing a pop up dialog box where a user will be asked to confirm their actions before it's actually carried out by the system, same way its done on btt when ever one is to give merit to another user.
This is a minor feature but one that could really help anyone at some point In the future.

Although I haven't had any incident of sending positive karma or negative karma to any person on a wrong click yet, but I applaud your suggestion, it's a really good idea.  Because such an incident can happen to anyone, there is no guarantee that it will not happen to me in the future. Moreover, I have seen that Karma just clicks on this page and takes a lot of time to reload the page. I think that while sending karma (positive/negative) it is necessary to keep a pop up interface and it will be better if another interface is shows after sending.

This is good, I tried to give you karma, though I intend to actually send you one, but having this confirmation before proceeding to sending karma is good. Just like me, sometimes using a mobile device, the text and the space of the screen are too small, and sometimes having a mis-click is unavoidable.

Though, on the other part, we can let it slide if ever this kind of scenario has happened. Since we have no limit on sending karma, we can let it slide and move on like nothing happened. As long as we don't abuse the karma system, nothing needs to be changed.

I just thought of it the same as unintentionally giving a negative karma to someone, the only solution that the admin initiates is to give a positive one to remove the negative karma. Different scenarios, but the same way of solving the problem. ;)

This is one like what we had on Bitcointalk I voted for this if it's possible so we can decide in finality if we like to give karma to one another, when giving karma I always make sure to read the entire posts and think for a few seconds before giving one.

There is one member that I gave karma not knowing that he had a plagiarism strike on his profile, from then I made sure that the guy deserved his karma and he earned it.
