The level of corruptions in the world today has caused some many distrusts amongst others especially when it gets to do with finances where people could do an undo just to get their wallets/accounts filled up.
There has been manners of distrusts in the sphere of finances specifically the Fiat currencies which stands as an attraction to dispute many asides.
So, due to all these about the Fiats (Traditional currencies) with its power of influence lingering to distrust and all that, how can you convince someone who is of a total Zero knowledge to Bitcoin that the Bitcoin is an existing and legitimate currency when they can't feel it out touch it with their hands other that having it imaginarily in mind that it is a digital and technological currency known as the Cryptocurrency?
Because i feel how hard it could be to spread this Bitcoin existence to a large scales knowing that people are not don't with the distrust of the traditional currencies which they can touch and feels protected and the so Bitcoin that can be touched not feel.
Or should I put it this way like this scientist would say that ... What you can't see, touch or feels doesn't exist just like the ghosts, souls and the physical body being of humans and all that livings.
Equivalent to the traditional currencies and the Bitcoin and other crytop coins.

Sincerely, it is basically a wrong perspective to promote Bitcoin because of the fraudulent usage of fiat currencies. Every thing that has worth including fiat currencies and Bitcoin can all be use for fraudulent purposes, so let's be guided.
I am a great supporter of Bitcoin promotion, but it is very important to target the right audience. Trying to convince or promote Bitcoin to someone who isn't up-to-date with the technological evolution of our today world is basically a waste of effort. Telling a non-bitcoin ethusiast about a currency that cannot be seen and held literally sounds crazy as they might sense scam in the whole story.
In conclusion, target the right audience, but don't force them with any information if they are not willing to accept.

One of the best ways to show someone that Bitcoin really works as a currency is to find an online site or even better a physical store, and to pay something with Bitcoin. Otherwise, I can say from personal experience that most people perceive Bitcoin as something similar to shares or gold where you invest in order to make a profit after some time.
However, the reason why Bitcoin was invented is financial freedom and the possibility of transactions between people without the mediation of third parties and with the option for everyone to be their own bank.
The "problem" if we can call it that at all, is that people don't want to move away from what they have been using for a very long time, which is fiat or bank cards that don't require any effort to use.

I'm with bhadz and Tribalchief. I normally don't put much effort into trying to convince people of anything, but in the case of bitcoin even less, as that implies that I hold bitcoin and thus have a higher risk of suffering a $5 wrench attack. In any case, I provide information to the people who show interest.

Unfortunately that is the main use today, although there is not so much difference between buying and selling shares and paying with bitcoin because I can sell the shares at the moment and with that money that goes to my account pay with the card in an establishment.

We are living in 21 century where most of theory become real. No one thanked in the past that anyone will be able to walk moon but 21st century proved that it can be happen.. BTC is not remains new now. more than 10% of World is now holding btc. Twitter, Youtube, Facebook users will see btc ads(Binance and other exchanges ads) everytime. ETF already approved btc. ATM has been created for btc purchase. Hotel , Restaurant, online shopping now accepting BTC and I think it's enough to convince someone without possession of physical form. Almost everyone is familiar with internet. You just ask someone to search for btc and then your 50% work is done and when he research about btc, he will ask byself other things.

I personally don't actively seek out people to try and convince them about Bitcoin or it being a real currency. Typically, individuals who have heard about Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies will try to reach out to someone they know to ask questions about it. And if happens that someone has reached out to you and you have the time and knowledge to explain, then you can do so. After that, it's up to the person to decide whether or not they believe in the potential of Bitcoin as a real currency, even though it's an intangible asset.
Do not waste time convincing others about Bitcoin. Let it showcase itself. Let others regret not knowing it earlier.
-
You dont need to convince anyone that bitcoin is real, but you can easily show them.
Tell them to download a wallet, than send them bitcoin tip, and buy them something physical or digital using bitcoin.
It is important for them to know why bitcoin is important, and why it is different from all fiat currencies.
-
Honestly, it won't be easy. This is like explaining taboo and invisible things to lay people. And when they know it's not something that can be held, then they won't believe it. Sometimes, there are several layers of society that have not been able to fully accept the rapid development of technology. Or even if they are already involved in technological developments, they may still not believe as long as they cannot grasp it. And many people think that the online world is just a world of selling. That's what happened in my area. Not only that, sometimes or even often, people believe more in media that provide news that Bitcoin is a scam, dangerous, used for terrorists, money laundering and so on. So it will be even more difficult to explain this, because they have already fortified themselves with various negative news regarding Bitcoin.
-
I would not try to convince anyone about anything, take note that you should not give anyone investment advice, if that is what you are talking about. However if you mean telling people that BTC is actually p2p electronic cash, you can guide them on how to create a self custodial wallet, which proves to them that they are in control of their money, then they can spend their coins by sending some to you or using to it make a purchase either online or physically, i think this first step is enough for a start, to prove to someone that BTC works.
-

If that is your goal, you can simply show him a Bitcoin marketplace or something similar. You can also show him how some platform accepts BTC or other crypto, it is not that difficult IMO. You could argue that some members in this forum or outside of this also use crypto regularly to pay stuff, including me. That being said, is digital finance that rare in your area? I've seen so many people use their phones to pay in supermarkets, even in a traditional shop in my city. The concept that money is not real unless you can touch it seems so outdated in this day and age.
-
The concept that money is not real unless you can touch it seems so outdated in this day and age.
Yeah it is so outdated, and while people know they can spend money without using physical cash, using their credit or debit card, but they doubt that of BTC because they do not believe in the network or trust what bitcoiners say about BTC. Instead they believe most of the negative news and information that the media publishes about BTC, some of which is that it is a scam and a tool used for illicit tx's.

Unfortunately that is the main use today, although there is not so much difference between buying and selling shares and paying with bitcoin because I can sell the shares at the moment and with that money that goes to my account pay with the card in an establishment.
I would still emphasize that Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency that you can send at any time to anyone who has their own BTC wallet. There you never need to be dependent on banks or various regulations and checks that can appear when you send someone a fiat transaction.
Paying in Bitcoin has its own charm and I use it whenever the opportunity arises.

Scams are easy to detect because if you dig down thoroughly, you will definitely find out what makes a thing a scam, but Bitcoin is not a scam. If you dig down the history of Bitcoin thoroughly too, you will find every reason to believe that it's not a scam. So, to convince someone about Bitcoin, kindly crack down on the history of Bitcoin with those people by telling them the reason why it was created, the purpose it's serving, how most people have trusted it, and the risks involved. If it's really some that have interest in joining the Bitcoin space, they will do some digging themselves, and when they do, they will likely want to invest.

It's easy for you to conclude that Bitcoin is not a scam - but what about the people who became victims of a scam involving BTC, or those who lost BTC because someone hacked their crypto exchange? They (or at least most of them) do not think positively about Bitcoin, and they spread their negativity everywhere.
In addition, the official narrative of many central banks and financial agencies is negative when it comes to Bitcoin without going into the reasons why this is so. Even if you go to explain the history of Bitcoin to someone, some people will tell you that Bitcoin is still something relatively new in order to determine if it has a future or if it will end up like all the other "internet schemes".
I am of the opinion that we should refrain from any aggressive promotion of BTC, because then people react quite negatively and suspiciously. I usually avoid any topics about cryptocurrencies in real life, because I have quite negative experiences with people who remained convinced that I wanted to sell them something in order to earn a commission.

I really don't waste time explaining these things. There is a class of people in our society who no matter how much you try to convince them about these things they will not understand and instead they will make bad comments about you. Since I understand that no matter how much I explain to them they will not understand me so why should I waste time explaining these things to them. There are many people in the world who know about Bitcoin and who believe in Bitcoin, so there is no need for me to waste time educating people about Bitcoin who, if given the knowledge about Bitcoin, will not accept the knowledge but instead will misunderstand me. I will spend time with people who try to understand and have an interest in understanding.
-
inviting someone to join in your journey is really hard specially if you don't have proof what i mean is that you are inviting him, while you were just starting, i really don't waste time if i ask you to join me and you don't like thats the end of it, since you will be frustrated since you really wan't to help someone but he is ignoring it, so if you ask someone and show no interest dont bother to ask him again, just show the fruit of your hard work and smile.

Vice versa, there are many people who do not understand and understand about Bitcoin.
But to make them understand is quite difficult, it takes a lot of time and energy. This will drain your energy and mind.
Now it's easier to provide education about bitcoin and crypto through social media and no need to meet face-to-face.
Everyone now has their own social media.
But this is constrained by people who are not tech-savvy, do not have social media.
They will just be left behind and not know what Bitcoin is and so on.
For young people now it will be easier to lead to something new.
Even brands are quite enthusiastic about learning crypto and bitcoin, they used to master them pretty quickly.

Really agree. Haters will always gonna hate.
Whatever we explain, as long as the people don't like Bitcoin and have ignorance of it, they will not listed to us and will not be open minded. This is very difficult to ensure closed minded people. Once we are arguing them, they will argue with sometimes nonsense topics and reasons.
We may not need to argue again.. Just do whatever we like related to crypto and Bitcoin especially. Let them watch what we get and gain from Bitcoin. Sometimes, we need to be more ignorance of certain people like that.

That's true, we don't really have to convince people till they have their mind determined for it, instead some may needs time to go through it, think about it, we can persuade them by force, they needs to make the choice by themselves and we don't have to keep on saying a manner of things just to entice them for an adoption, doing things like this are what put on on the obligations of being responsible for anything they are having encounter with that cost them.

That's true. Aside from that, Bitcoin can be mistaken for a pyramid scheme if people try to promote it as an investment that promises high returns or if they recruit new investors. However, this is not the true purpose of Bitcoin. We should focus on educating people about its real use and benefits if they only show interest rather than trying to convince them.
It's not worth your time to argue with anyone, so don't bother. Only explain Bitcoin to others if they show an interest, otherwise, it's pointless.
-
With the way Bitcoin is going, you do not necessarily need to convince anyone to accept Bitcoin as a digital currency, the people out there are the ones in search of Bitcoin now. For those who are still in doubt, it is their loss. I personally do not see the need of putting in so much energy in promoting Bitcoin that is already promised itself. Let the people be! With time they will come to realise that they have delayed for too long.
-
The title is something you need to address because its not what the thread runs , EASY TO CONVINCE is not the right term to use because there are no way that we can just convince them to believe about Bitcoin or even if they do believe the next question is will they trust this?

exactly just let them know that bitcoin is existing and they can be use as option in payment and let them learn the others as assignment .

I think this highly depends on the way people talk about it though, who uses the term "recruit new investors" when they talk about Bitcoin and its tech? At the very least, I don't recall seeing any promotion about Bitcoin stressing a lot on its potential ROI, except from exchanges or crypto influencers. On the other hand, I see this argument a lot from people who don't believe in Bitcoin or fall for scams in the past. Unfortunately, most people care about Bitcoin or crypto because it can increase their wealth exponentially, to begin with, so it is really hard to focus just on its usage unless they have real demand for that. For example, I would still use Bitcoin even if it never makes new ATH again because it is easier for me to pay stuff with it.

You need to remember that FIAT is a government product where banks and the government work together to keep FIAT strong and that also represents the strength of a country's economy. The important thing that I can understand is that when a country allows its citizens to spread bitcoin to make it legal and replace FIAT, then the sovereignty of the government is really being threatened.
Cryptocurrencies are good for us, but they are not good for state regulators. Especially for some decentralized cryptocurrencies, it is very difficult to make them strengthen the government's economy with policies taken by local officials.
I prefer the current cryptocurrency, which is used as an alternative by many people in the world. Although not completely legal in my country.

These were our thoughts years back but with how Bitcoin is performing right now and how it is being adopted right now I don't think the distrust is greater than the trust, we can not force people to adopt to changes there will always be traditional people because they live long enough to trust only fiat, but they will soon find themselves part of the few unbelievers, just like the internet many people doubt the internet, but these many people are now avid user of the internet.
-
exactly just let them know that bitcoin is existing and they can be use as option in payment and let them learn the others as assignment .
I'm sure the ones who are lucky will learn about Bitcoin no matter what and the ones who are skeptical or people with traditional mind will always be arrogant about Bitcoin or any other digital currency.
So, it's always better to allow such people to learn themselves and don't worry much about them. One should never force anyone to learn about Bitcoin or accept Bitcoin, if they get interested in it they will do research themselves and they really don't need anyone's suggestions.
-

I completely agree with that. I never make people sit around me and listen to what I tell them about Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies so that they get convinced and start making investments because what's the benefit for me in that? I don't get paid a referral commission if I convince someone to invest in Bitcoin nor do they give me a share of the profits they might get from it.
So what's the need?
What's worse in this is that if you convince someone to make an investment and if they do so, and then if they lose money or the market goes down after their investment, they won't let you live in peace when they see their money losing value, it becomes extremely frustrating.
-
Discussing Bitcoin is a difficult topic for those who do not know or understand Bitcoin. Of course they may have a different attitude towards me, especially when it comes to explaining to them what or why Bitcoin is used. So I usually don't want to explain anything about Bitcoin to people around me. On the contrary, they may make various ugly comments against me and misunderstand me. Moreover, I don't want to convince anyone else about investing in Bitcoin but I always want to convince them that investing in Bitcoin is risky.
-

Otherwise, I can say from personal experience that most people perceive Bitcoin as something similar to shares or gold where you invest in order to make a profit after some time.
The best works for me is, if only the person is very close to me, I show him some stash, a small one, send it to P2P site, use the local mobile app to cash out the printed money.
There are bitcoin ATMs too which can easily convince people that you are with a currency that is exchangeable.
After over a decade, everyone knows that Bitcoin is real. People are just scared for no reason.
-
The only possible way I see how to convince someone that bitcoin is legitimate currency and it can be used similar as fiat currency is to show whole processes of making a purchase with detailed description of each step. Without IRL presentation of usage or lets say proof, it is no use to convince. Get the card that is issued by exchange, show there is a zero balance, top it up with crypto, show updated balance, pay with the card, get the item and show balance change, give that person to repeat whole procedure. Less than 10 steps and any one who is hesitated will believe in bitcoin.
-
It is not an easy task to do in convincing people to invest or adopt bitcoin for their own benefits, not until they see the needs by themselves, they will only be making a mockery of us all that are into digital cryptocurrencies, some people also cannot make a quick decision just like that, instead they may need more time in thinking over it before they can make a decision on what they can do as whether to accept or decline the offer for bitcoin adoption.
-

Pretty hard and to be honest you won't be successful in most of the cases.
First, it's been 15 years, somebody who doesn't know about Bitcoin now is somebody would is definitely not interested in it, convincing someone of the things that stuff he doesn't care about is good at is really a herculean task, which will end with a yeah, got it, thanks, bye!
Or should I put it this way like this scientist would say that ... What you can't see, touch or feels doesn't exist just like the ghosts, souls and the physical body being of humans and all that livings.
Nope, way simpler! Credit cards or debit cards!
Both are digital, numbers on the screen, you type your cc number you type a bitcoin address, you never touch real banknotes, and so on!
No need to go into the spiritual world!

We realize that there are some people in this class whom we may lose our heads in trying to convince them and we should avoid all those people and not try to convince them about these things. Our own time is valuable enough and we should not waste our time thinking about that value in a place where even if I try to explain adequately I will not achieve any success. A weak but attentive student is definitely preferred by a teacher to an inattentive student in class because he has an interest in learning and can learn if he is taught well. People who don't want to know about Bitcoin or who take the opposite if told don't need to be told these things.

Yes, that's the fact. Why would we go to such lengths to convince people about cryptocurrency. If they don't like it, then they still won't like it. Just let them be. Then make sure we are successful in cryptocurrency so that it makes them even more curious about your achievements. Then, they will first be curious about crypto. Well, this is just the moment, because if we try to explain Crypto while they still ignore the existence of Crypto, it won't work. It's different when they see our success and they start to be interested in knowing about crypto, then we can convince them quite significantly.
-
You don't need to convince them, just tell them how it grows and who are the company/people already invested into it. Then later on once they get interested, tell them the advantages of it in finance, decentralization, privacy, being responsible of getting your own bank, and many more.

You're absolutely right, sometimes you don't need to say too much before you draw someone to Bitcoin. Let me take myself for example, I barely tell people about Bitcoin, I see it as a stress, because I'm very bad at convincing people, especially those who are naive about Bitcoin, so what I do is let the benefits of Bitcoin visible in my finance for people around to see, whether in real life or on social media, so whoever indicates interest and walks to me for Bitcoin knowledge, then I'll start by telling you the dangers of Bitcoin Investment and then after that, I move on to tell you about the sweet benefits, from there I believe we could proceed to discussing other things about Bitcoin, considering how interested and committed I feel you are.
-
You don't need to convince anyone about BITCOIN of a digital currency or anyother altcoins in the crypto space.
Because if the Bitcoin goes wrong u will be blamed for it, u allow he/she to research on it first before convincing.
Maybe with all time low and all time high he/she will understand how the market flow and how profitable it is.

What if Bitcoin goes in a different direction as you have mentioned? Then the opportunity for other people who is a possible investors has been wasted. I understand the thoughts that it is a waste of time for other people, but it will be worth it to have more people enter and invest in Bitcoin. You will not be blamed if ever that the market suddenly goes down, what they need is to understand to avoid being blamed.

True. We don't need to try convincing any one. Let's them to decide joining Bitcoin or not. Sure, they will easily blame us if they failed getting profits in the future. I think we just need to share what we know about crypto, don't expect anything from other people. I never try to convince any one because I don't want people blame me. People sometimes can be very annoying.

Nowadays everyone are searching for online earning methods especially in countries where doller price is higher. I think it's very easy to convince someone to invest in btc especially educated persons because there are several ways to research about it. They can get full details from youtube, twitter or medium article. I am seeing everydays Broker ads in youtube and twitter. I know personally so many people who are investing in ponzi schemes and broker because they are not aware of btc. I convinced more than 10 people (friends and relatives) towards crypto and I experience it very easy. The major problem with old people who don't know and they don't want to research on new things and they prefer fiat or offline Investment.

If you're afraid that retail won't enter the market because you don't openly shill BTC to them, don't be. I believe you realize how many crypto businesses nowadays and how much they spend on marketing. I've seen many content creators make content around crypto scams etc. It definitely gives a biased stance on crypto, but publicity is publicity. I'm pretty sure some of these people will try to satisfy their curiosity and will learn about Bitcoin sooner or later. Afterall most of them are driven by profits. Not to mention it is impossible to avoid being blamed even if what you did what just showing off how you make money in the bull market. People will try to shift the blame if their investment failed to get them the result they wanted, whether it is crypto or not.

If someone doesn't want to know or understand anything about Bitcoin, then explaining it to them is of no use. Rather, he should be allowed to be the way he wants to be. Bitcoin is a currency that will take over the monopoly market in the world in the future and most of the people in the world will know and understand about this Bitcoin. So nowadays people who don't understand about Bitcoin will be of no use explaining them instead they will always make fun of you. I don't want to give any knowledge about Bitcoin to those around me but I stay away from them so that they don't ask me anything about it.

It is not an easy task to do in convincing people to invest or adopt bitcoin for their own benefits, not until they see the needs by themselves, they will only be making a mockery of us all that are into digital cryptocurrencies,
We realize that there are some people in this class whom we may lose our heads in trying to convince them and we should avoid all those people and not try to convince them about these things.
We are sure that no matter how well we explain script currency to these people, they will not accept the idea, but if we try to do it again and again, we will definitely assume that the person's time is not worth it. Some famous people just don't wear any shirts with buttons because it's a waste of time and they always wear t-shirts so that it doesn't take extra time to button so why should we waste time following people like that. There is no need to waste time behind such people, you will not gain anything even if you can convince them, and if you cannot convince them, you will not lose much, in which case it is better not to try to convince such people.

I agree with you, because the rate at which crypto scams are going on in the internet, most people think investing in bitcoim is a scam and some of them don't even believe when you tell th about cryptocurrency. It's very hard to convince someone bitcoin and cryptocurrency is real most especially online...

Well to invest on bitcoin is one choice, bitcoin has played his role of showing that is a nice project worth investing on , with alot of golden opportunity that can change one life for the better in a long run . This time around alot of folks has been investing in Bitcoin without even any convincing them but through seeing the potential of growth Bitcoin possess, and expecially this time around Bitcoin halving is close . And base on history of Bitcoin concerning the halving Bitcoin always undergo a massive growth after the halving. So those that keep having doubts about Bitcoin should keep having such doubt while Bitcoin keep growing and undergoing alot of break through.

But OP's question is not about whether you should buy Bitcoin as an investment or not, is it? I believe whether Bitcoin will break new ATH or not is not relevant if you want to use Bitcoin to trade stuff or services. It will affect how much you need to spend for sure, but whether Bitcoin is worth $10k or $100k, you can use Bitcoin to pay for anything easily depending on where you live. I use Bitcoin to pay for digital products regularly, and while it hurts me quite a bit to spend a lot of sats when Bitcoin is in a bear market, I don't regret using it as a currency since the benefits outweigh the cost. It isn't like I can only choose one over the other and enjoy both benefits easily.

It is a choice to make Bitcoin as a real purpose created or only used for investment or as a speculative asset.
I also used some Bitcoin to pay for the Website domain from a few years ago.
Now that the price of Bitcoin is rising, fewer sats are needed
-
Very easy but that will depend on the relationship you have with the person and the perspective of that person towards bitcoin.
With the level bitcoin has gone, I don't think it necessary to begin to give out explanations to people on why to accept bitcoin to be real because bitcoin has already proven itself to the world that it is real and it has changed people's financial situation for the better than when they are saving their money on fiat that gives no interest but reduces value over time than when the store their assets in bitcoin that will yield them many profits in the future when hodl for long

Agree, payments using Bitcoin have very cheap fees so it is possible to carry out whatever transactions we want, but remembering that Bitcoin is increasingly difficult to get, so I am considering what I will do with the Bitcoin I have and prefer to keep it for a very long time.

Re: How easy is it to convince someone that Bitcoin of a digital currency is real?
It will depend on the person you are convincing with.
If you will try to convince an old person, they will find it overwhelming to the point that they will not be interested on it. On the other hand, if you will tell it to somewhat a Gen Z person or a person who's at the 20's or 30's, they might find it interesting for them and they might get curious to learn it as well.
For us who've been in the crypto for a long time, we know that it's real. The problem is those other people who doesn't even know that a thing called Bitcoin exists. Convincing isn't enough. Knowledge is needed for a person to know that it's a real, and it's existing.

I agree, the same as to what happened to me and to my uncle who is already a senior citizen. The first time I get to know about Bitcoin, I am looking for someone who I can talk to about it and do the same activity. Since I am always together with my uncle, I decided to talk to him about it and try to teach him. At first, it goes well, but in the end, he loses interest as it is about technology. He often says to me that it is not fit for his age to use technology or even surf the internet.
For us who've been in the crypto for a long time, we know that it's real. The problem is those other people who doesn't even know that a thing called Bitcoin exists. Convincing isn't enough. Knowledge is needed for a person to know that it's a real, and it's existing.
If it is in the past, like the time before a lot of people got to know Bitcoin, it will be hard. However, we are already in 2024 when everything was on the internet. Since the target is those 20s to 30s or the Gen Z just like you have said, it will be easier by now. Especially since the price of Bitcoin is really high, there are even some other people who insist on investing even without knowing because they are hyped up for some reason.
-

I don't think it depends on the factor of how old someone is because I have seen members on the BTT forum, which are from octogenarian group (80 years) and some are in their 60s. The point is, that people are interested in crypto for profit, to make there future more secure money-wise. And according to you old ones might not like it, IMO that's because they are no more worried about there future due to numerous factors, (that's another talk) but there are old people who are interested in crypto as well, actually, age does not matter, the only thing that matter is, how much risk a person wants to take, how much interested that person is in adventure, how that person sees a technology, with what perspective.
This means, that old ones are interested in crypto because they praise its potential, and the knowledge it has given to the people, the trust that was among people for banks has been broken and that's what is called revolutionization.
For us who've been in the crypto for a long time, we know that it's real. The problem is those other people who doesn't even know that a thing called Bitcoin exists. Convincing isn't enough. Knowledge is needed for a person to know that it's a real, and it's existing.
I don't think after the ETFs approval we still have to make that much efforts to convince someone about the potential of BTC, yeah in case if the person is not even interested in making investment, and don't even know what ETFs are then its a waste to put your energy in convincing him/her.
-
Convincing someone that Bitcoin of a digital currency is real isn't that easy because we cannot avoid them from thinking that it's fake or a scam. But to answer it's pretty easy to convince them by stating facts and providing informations that can give them assurance so I would say that it's quite easy to convince them by using good chice of words and amazing communication skills and strategies.

If these people make use of online banking services then they already understand that it is possible for currency to be quickly moved from one place then they can simply understand what bitcoin is, the only difference being that it is not controlled by the government. They may question the legitimacy and reputation of bitcoins because the creator is unknown and also because the government has a different opinion on it.
Tell them about the history of bitcoins and how long it has lasted regardless of all the negative events against it, tell them why it will not be possible for the government to shut it down. If they still do not believe because they are just proving difficult, do not stress yourself on them.

But do we really need to convince anyone about Bitcoin? Just tell someone about Bitcoin, give them some educational content to read or video to watch and learn from, and then allow them to feel convinced on their own about Bitcoin. Anyone who is interested in blockchain technology doesn't really need to be convinced about Bitcoin; rather, they would want someone who can properly educate them about it because they already have an interest. But if you talk to a skeptical person about Bitcoin, he or she will not believe you until they decide to.
-
Honestly, I have a friend ask me about crypto. He said that it's a scam for a reason that it's a just a investment of money with no use and they can run if they want. Then, I will not argue with him in their statement since I knew already that he don't have enough knowledge in crypto that's why he spoke like that. Instead, I just explain to him that crypto is not like in the forex that you only have to trade, crypto is different, they focus on the project not on it's currency and I explain it's security.
-
Well, I do think that convincing wouldn't be too hard because a person can be convinced by themselves. And it's right to just post some relevant articles or videos about how bitcoin works so people can rely on it and decide whether they try or not.
-
----
You should not try to convince anyone when explaining that Bitcoin is a digital currency. They will learn it eventually. Even I had a hard time explaining to my father that it is possible to make money online. I had to start earning and show them. But my father died before I could make more money to show off.
If someone argues that Bitcoin is not valuable, just let him go and you will see that a couple of years later he will come back to you and say hey, that was a mistake from me. Now, I know that Bitcoin is a digital currency.

I really agree with you. Convincing someone to invest in crypto will actually put you in a bad situation. And this is quite a risk, not only for the person you trust but also especially for you. Are you sure that investment in crypto will generate profits instantly and quickly? because that's what novice investors hope for. They definitely won't wait and will continue to ask about what will happen to their assets, whether they have gone up or not and so on. And this is very troublesome because they will also embarrass us. This is based on experience and is quite difficult to avoid.

Exactly, I agree with that. We don't need to convince anyone about it, just let them be and think what they are thinking, it's not like we are going to get some referral commission if they get convinced and make investments in Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency unless you are referring them to a platform using your link only to get some commission for their purchases but that isn't worth it, to be honest.
Even if you manage to convince someone, you wouldn't achieve anything from that but you will get in trouble in case they make investments in the market without doing any research and lose money, they will blame you because you were the one who convinced them about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

So it's better to just shut up and just let them explore by themselves.
I'm also not giving advice to others to have to get in and invest, but say just study and understand how bitcoin works.
If I suggest going in and investing, as you said, then I will be the target of their complaints and surprises when the investment fails and as if it is my responsibility.
I really avoid this kind of stuff, I better keep quiet and not suggest anything about crypto investment etc.

Yeah.
At this present point, Bitcoin has become quite reputable and established as legit asset and store of value, and even as a means of exchange around the globe, so convincing people to become part of bitcoin shouldn't be such a big deal anymore, unlike years back when bitcoin was still struggling to make it to the surface, you really domt need to say pretty much because Bitcoin's track record and its tremendous progress would speak for it.
-

One of my friends has been aware of Bitcoin for a couple of years but he has not invested a single dollar yet. Sometimes he asks me about the price of Bitcoin and he often gets surprised when he hears it (due to volatility). Recently, he was telling me that If I would have invested only $1000, I would have $3000 today. What do you think about it?
To be honest, I always say bro it depends on the market and the demand. But remember one thing you will be in profit only if you have the patience to hold it for a long time and he agrees with me. He plans to buy after the bull run and he want to catch the next season. But as I said, I never convinced him to invest even though he is my closest friend.
-
From where I live, it isn't that easy. That's why I don't try to. I am mainly based in rural areas, and here, the adults aren't that aware of Bitcoin or any other crypto currency or any related stuff. If I try to, they will think I'm doing something illegal or bad. My relatives, my neighbors, and even my friends don't know what I do. I don't want them to have mixed feelings. I tried once, but it didn't work. And the biggest issue is that crypto is banned here. So nobody wants to mess with the authority. You sure understand my place isn't that convenient to discuss or convince people about Bitcoin.

I don't think there is any need for us to convince anybody of investing in Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin will always skyrocket and we should be prepared for the bull market soon. If we are traders that has good results. That alone could convince people to come and invest in Bitcoin.

It's as easy as doing your research and having good knowledge of how the system works. A lot of Bitcoin illiterates may be confused when they are newly introduced about the existence of such technology. But what I think draws people alot into Bitcoin is when they are informed of how they can make good profit. Bitcoin like you said, don't have a physical form, that's why it's called digital currency so anyone who wishes to use and understand this technology should at least be someone who understands what digital means in the first place. Not just crypto currency is digital in our modern world. We have banks turn fiat into digital forms, gold now having ETFs where we don't have to deal with the bulkiness of physical assets.

If that's the case, it is indeed hard to convince someone in your location about Bitcoin. I don't know what happened or what situation your government in to come to the point of banning crypto in your country just like in some other countries but the situation wherein they will think of you doing any illegal activities once you are into crypto, it's awful and sad at the same time.
Do you mind telling what country you came from?

We're the same TBH... or kind of. :D
Living in a rural area where people aren't that familiar not only in cryptocurrency, but in investing in general. My environment is filled with people who doesn't invest, and some doesn't even save at all which is quite unfortunate. I didn't try to convince them though or at least introduce cryptocurrency to them.
Our difference is that crypto isn't banned here in our country and as for you, it would be better to not tell anything about cryptocurrency to other people. Like you said, no one wants to mess with the authorities, and that includes you. Just keep that information to yourself. You can't introduce cryptocurrencies to them, but you can teach them investing in general though. The pros, and cons, the risks involved, types of investment, etc.

Yes, it's awful! Our government hasn't yet accepted Crypto as a legal form of monetary system! But that doesn't stop us from using it, though. A lot of guys are using it at this very moment, mostly the young generation (but in secrecy). Although it's banned, it isn't that well regulated. They are aware that people are already into crypto space. But doesn't take any strict action. Millions of dollars worth of crypto are being laundered through various MLM sites and scam apps. But they can't or are unable to take measures, simply because of their imcompetence and corrupted minds.
I am from Bangladesh, brother! ;)
You can't introduce cryptocurrencies to them, but you can teach them investing in general though. The pros, and cons, the risks involved, types of investment, etc.
At this moment, I only try to teach those who won't get the wrong idea or mixed feelings about my work (crypto). Basically my family! :D

You're absolutely right.
The government has always been after bitcoin users due to it's decentralised nature, which have always given users the right to have full control over their asset without the interference of any any central authoritates or interference of the government.

If there are ways for "them" not to find out, and if you and others know that what you are doing is not bad (regardless of what they tell you), then I personally would not care about any bans. Of course, this implies being intelligent to avoid any possible punishment, but also that everyone knows their personal possibilities when it comes to achieving their personal safety. I don't know what the punishments are for those caught working against the law, but as long as it's not the death penalty or prison I wouldn't worry too much.
At this moment, I only try to teach those who won't get the wrong idea or mixed feelings about my work (crypto). Basically my family! :D
Family is important, but try to keep your "business" as private as possible, because there are always people who can use such information to do something bad. If you have already told your family something about it, be sure to teach them that such things should remain within the family.

To be honest, regardless of the laws, regulations, rules, and every other thing in your country, what you are doing is the right thing and even if cryptocurrencies were legal within your country, you shouldn't have been letting people know that you are involved or you have investments in cryptocurrencies or how much profit you have earned so far, etc., because this can become a security concern for you.
Financial activities and things related to them should be kept private because others shouldn't have any concern with what you have or what you are doing other than your regular job that you do which anyone can see, I wouldn't even recommend discussing your salary from your regular job with people you don't trust.
-
I wouldn't even recommend discussing your salary from your regular job with people you don't trust.
Do people really do this? I'm really surprised if that was the case. I've been doing some door-to-door interviews in the past, and even if I find someone who likes to boast about his achievement, they never say how much they make each year. At best they said they can buy one or two motorcycles each month, but that's that. That's still pretty dangerous though, but no one ever discusses their salary openly. I don't think that's necessary to tell people you can use Bitcoin to pay for stuff anyway.
If we talk about crypto though, I often find people discuss it openly, but never specifically mention that they hold Bitcoin or something similar. In fact, I found people like to discuss it online instead. Maybe it is different for each country, but that's my experience so far. Most people that I know who participate in crypto are from forums or social media, to begin with.

Yes, there are people who's fine discussing the exact digits of their salary, which they don't know that it is confidential and shouldn't be discussing to anyone. Even if the person you are talking to is someone you trust, and I believe even with your partner, the exact digits shouldn't be discussing.
In crypto, that's the same as me. I often see people with crypto investment in social media, especially in cryptocurrency group discussion, posting the amount of investment they have with different questions/flexing their money, and any other reason. Which they shouldn't be in the very first place.

For how long bitcoin knowledge and its awareness have been spread out to the globe, I don't think bitcoin needs further explanation for people to believe that it is a good investment for humanity.
People are beginning to know and at the same time all aware of the benefits of investing in bitcoin is better than having their money saved in fiat which seems to depreciate over time.

Many years ago, I used to spend a lot of time arguing with a friend about the true value of BTC in the economy. I loved and believed in BTC, while he considered it just a scam and a tool for money launderers. The debate led to no results, we still held our own views.
Currently, I am no longer interested in these debates, nor do I try to convince anyone to believe in BTC. Information is available on the internet, those who want to believe will believe, those who don't want to believe will continue to deny BTC. I just try to use my time to focus on investing and optimizing profits. When someone still doesn't believe in BTC, I know I still have opportunities in this market ^^
-
When I started bitcoin journey in 2022, and I told people about bitcoin they would told me that it was a scam. But from 2023 when they see my achievements then I don't need to tell them anything about bitcoin again they themselves come to me and ask me what is bitcoin and teach them and their children. So in most cases your achievements can speak for you. And you only tell them when they come. And those who don't want to know it are those who are illiterate that they can't read and write. So you too, you don't have to bother yourself to explain to them because they won't understand anything.

For people who are familiar with digital currency, they must be easier to understand it. But for villagers who never know about digital currency and never know Bitcoin, they still need explanations about Bitcoin. Firstly, don't explain about Bitcoin investment! It is better to explain it in the general term. People must understand the fundamental matter about Bitcoin.
Sure, they will know the benefit about Bitcoin investment after they realize the fundamentals. They must know it after they know the price of Bitcoin constantly growing year after year. And there are many big parties joining Bitcoin investment, too. And it is already accepted in ETF market as well.

Because I live in the village, I also feel this way.
It is not easy to tell about bitcoin to those who really don't understand the concept of digital currency, they just think Bitcoin is a profitable currency, but when they see the price of bitcoin is very high they are quite interested and ask how to get it.
I only explained the basic knowledge and how to get bitcoins but did not recommend investing because they do not fully know what the risks are.

Actually it's not that easy, because if you see most of the people in the world still don't know how to access the internet well, in this case it's very tough to convince them about Bitcoin. And since there is a lot of technical knowledge to be acquired in the field of Bitcoin and to achieve this you need to have a fair knowledge of Etlist mobile and computer operation and its technical aspects which most people do not have. I have been able to convince only 20% to 30% of friends in my friend circle what Bitcoin actually is and what it is made for.

For Gen Z that's quite true, they do not need much convincing because they should be considered to be quite conversant with technologies such as the bitcoin technology.
But it's different when talking about some old folks, those who are not very much familiar with new technologies such as this, they need to be taught about this new tech and how it really works, if they become familiar with he technology, then convincing them about the potentiality of bitcoin would be a lot more easier.
-
I think easily convince some one about cryptocurrency or bitcoin is real digital currency by showing them profitable earned from bitcoin investment or giving them proof about bigger companies accepted bitcoin as payment transaction. Actually I don't really interested to make some one convince about bitcoin as real digital currency transaction and most of holder or investor earned much profitable when investing in bitcoin.
Too risk talk the other about bitcoin as worth for investing assets behind price can't predictable yet with potential pump and dump drastically, better invest by our self take profit and get risk we don't know the other people mentality when facing bitcoin getting drop.

Some old folks are all aware of the technology behind bitcoin, but the main problem is that they find it hard to invest and trust their money in it for long. They so much prefer to have their money in the bank, that they can withdraw at any time they choose without the experience their bitcoin has somehow declined in price due to the volatile nature of the market.
I know of how many times, I was unable to convince my parents to invest in bitcoin. What my parents do believe in saving in banks is preferable to risking it in a technology called "bitcoin'' that they don't understand the technology behind its creation.

This is also why I'm quite hesitant to share cryptocurrency to the old folks and when I say old folks, I'm saying people that are aged at around 40-50 or even more. They aren't as conversant as we Gen Z are when it comes to the technologies that we have right now.
Whatever way we introduce, most of them might just ignore it or they might not be interested on it all. They might find it complicated to the point that they will not like learning it. If you're the person who's quite familiar with how the technology is working right now, cryptocurrency in general might be very easy to learn. However, if you're the type of person who doesn't even know how to use a computer then you might see yourself having a hard time learning it.

Finally, your journey that Bitcoin is a reality that can provide positive results can happen by itself, after previously being distrusted and even saying that Bitcoin is a fraud, after the achievements you have made can become real proof.
Of course, it is not easy to explain at first before actually seeing the reality obtained, because lack of understanding and something that cannot be grasped rationally, requires that they have to try it first, so that they can understand and understand it.
That way, we no longer need to explain in detail because they have also studied it in depth, apart from those who are not open to information about renewable technology, it will be difficult to understand it.

Men, it was not easy to convince people to invest in people. I told one of my sister to invest in bitcoin but she refused instead she went to a Ponzi Scheme and invested about $600 and in the beginning lol, she withdrew $100 and was very excited and redeposit another $500 made up $1,000 and waited for.like 2 weeks to withdraw $4,000 and when the time came for her to withdraw the funds, men, website crash and they promised them to relaunch the site till now. And she lost all. This thiy happened to me in early 2021 amd since then I have not and will never join them again.

Hey my guy from the other forum. How is family? May God be with you.
Yes these websites that promising people to double their investment are still existing and ignorant people are still falling for them. And the tactics is, they would allow them to withdraw small amounts to know that they can withdraw and ask them to deposit to upgrade to the next level to earn big amount. But all are lies. And the worst part of it All those who like to invest in those Ponzi Schemes, if you tell them not to invest, they would not listen to you until they lost their funds.

I believe that those who think BTC doesn't exist in reality do they also belief in the definition of matter. I read it somewhere which suits here best, and that is matter is what occupies the place, space has weight and mass. So do the GPUs being used the 500 GB storage of a blockchain to mine BTC and other things like electricity being used do not matter? If that does not matter then you are right BTC doesn't have a physical form.
What I think is even if its a software it have physical form, either it don't have physical form or the definition of matter teaching in most of the institutions is wrong. You can't just say BTC dont' have physical form. For people who think they can't accept BTC because they just can't touch it, will they also believe they can earn from there videos on YT which they can also not touch.
-
Don't argue, just prove it. You're better off starting from the people closest to you. Luckily, if your country legalizes buying and selling transactions with bitcoin, you can gift that guy a cheap item purchased online or physical market with bitcoin. Don't forget to show each process.

Yeah, that was the era wherein it was the high, MLM, click to earn and everyone fall for it. But the thing is that this kind of program might have malware in it that we really don't know existed before.
In crypto though, Bitcoin doubler becames the hype and it gradually died down as well. Although scammer has evolved itself because social media is readily accessible and they can reach out to anyone around the world to victimized. So I guess nothing has change and there are still people who has less knowledge and stupid enough to fall for it.
-
For how long bitcoin knowledge and its awareness have been spread out to the globe, I don't think bitcoin needs further explanation for people to believe that it is a good investment for humanity.
All information that one may need on Bitcoin is already available online and there will be more details and nitty-gritty ideas as days pass...there is no censorship done in anyway so one can easily access whatever one may need most especially if he is eyeing investing with BTC. As for convincing anyone that Bitcoin is real, I don't think it would be good to do that as there is no need to do so. Bitcoin is not an MLM program where there is a need to recruit people to be part of anyone's sales organization that has the job of convincing anyone to do the same all over again. Of course, not unless if one is asked on Bitcoin then just share the experience and the possible rewards as well as risks possible.
-

Yep... nowadays, cheating stupid people seems a bit old fashioned, and now many people are cheating smart people to get even more money. The MLM method is still proven to be effective in attracting victims, but the method has been slightly changed to change the target too...
I pay attention to the memecoin phenomenon as one of these things... namely fraud carried out publicly by releasing trash coins and fooling the public with the hope of a flash pump that has no fixed time... this doesn't look like fraud, but the owner always gets more profit many investors. Even though the money spent may be more economical as an owner.

In any industry even including the religious one, there will always be scams and frauds and with the cryptocurrency industry this is unfortunately magnified a lot all because the reach is now worldwide and anyone can have access to the internet plus people can easily fall for greed and that supposed opportunity to make some big money...hence we are seeing victims of scams and frauds piling up since this industry started. In fact, these scams and frauds caused many to stay away from this industry because all they see is the bad side of it all. In talking to some people who can be closer to us, we have to present both sides of the story...the possible pitfalls that can come to someone and the many feasible rewards if one is careful and is really using his common sense by learning of the mistakes made by others and not be swayed by sweet-talking scammers and fraudsters.

You dont need to convince anyone that bitcoin is real, but you can easily show them.
Tell them to download a wallet, than send them bitcoin tip, and buy them something physical or digital using bitcoin.
It is important for them to know why bitcoin is important, and why it is different from all fiat currencies.
I agree with your perspective. Some people can be difficult to convince, but instead of forcing the issue, it's better to show them the reality. For instance, by demonstrating how Bitcoin works through a mobile app, they may become convinced.
I don't blame people for being skeptical, especially when it comes or has to do with money. The world is full of surprises, and scams are rampant. However, when a trusted family member or friend introduces me to something new, I give them the benefit of the doubt. I trust their intentions, knowing they wouldn't intentionally deceive me.

Skeptics are only trying to protect themselves from various types of scams that occur, including cryptocurrencies, because they are very risky.
It will not be easy to convince skeptics, it really has to be explained in detail based on data.
But for those who already know the digital world, of course they know how bitcoin develops, but of course the risk is also high because of rapid price fluctuations.

To be honest, i don't like to convince anybody about anything, even Satoshi never tried to convince anyone about BTC, he created it and people who believed in his innovation followed him. However, there is nothing wrong in introducing BTC to your close friends and family, but do not try to convince them about anything.

There are some discussion that will be worth discussing or continuing, once the person who you're discussing with is no more interested, you as a person should know.
It is or will be difficult to convince someone who is not friendly to digital devices like smart phones or laptop to be interested about crypto currencies. Anyone who has no knowledge or interest about the internet cannot join the crypto community.
Everyone who makes use of the internet and digital devices is someone who will easily grasp the points of discussion. This kind of people will listen and make their own personal research (DYOR).
Financial freedom is something that everyone should be part of the discussion. At the point of discussing, it doesn't mean you'll need to convince them to jump in at once, rather, they should see a reason to call you back and ask more questions regarding it. This days the news of crypto currencies has gone viral, and anyone who is still fighting it, is one who will never be interested about crypto currencies.

I don't think it is easy to give confidence to anyone about what might not be known, especially if this is a matter of bitcoin that has no form but is proven real. It will be difficult to provide an explanation in detail, other than if usually usually those who first ask, then we can explain, then we will easily. But the good is to your own brothers first, because they might be trusted more than others which will be difficult to do.

No, I don't want to give information about crypto to people around me because I and my community experienced something bad when I used to explain about crypto and the result was a bad response about and Bitcoin.
For now and in the future I don't want to give information about crypto and Bitcoin to anyone, it's enough for me at home who knows crypto because it's useless to give information about Bitcoin to people who have mental blocks.
And indeed Bitcoin and crypto should be private, no one should know in terms of ownership because it's common for many to target our Bitcoin if we have a lot of Bitcoin.

We find it difficult to avoid bad experiences with the information we give to others and are received badly. Of course, this is something that no one wants to happen, so it's natural that you will be skeptical of other environments other than those around your own home to provide education and information about crypto. Agree with you that crypto and bitcoin should be private and let your own environment know because this can also be vulnerable to our future circumstances.

Yes, I think that you could explain a best comment in this post. So I am agree with your prefer comment. I also believe that it will be depending on your trust. Because we know that bitcoin will be very prefer crypto in this moment. We can see that this digital crypto could be very helpful for us. If we follow in cryptocurrency world, we can see that many traders and investors also earn best benefits from bitcoin. Many professional investors buy bitcoin and they will be best benefited from cryptocurrency market. So we can told easily this digital currency is real.

It is untrue that Satoshi never convinced anyone. He was explaining many things about Bitcoin, it means he was trying to convince people. However, Satoshi never asked people to buy Bitcoin or invest in Bitcoin. He only focused to develop Bitcoin after he created the Bitcoin. He believe that Bitcoin can be a good solution for our financial system in the future.
I personally never asked anyone to invest in BTC, too. But I will try to convince them if they are likely interested in Bitcoin. Nothing wrong to convince them, but we don't need to ask them to invest in Bitcoin. Investing in Bitcoin should be with own consideration.

At first, everyone was also very skeptical about crypto, especially bitcoin, because they were not used to digitalization compared to tangible forms such as fiat. But with the development of information and many have experienced that this is real and can be used for investment. Gradually, many can accept and make it an attractive investment.
Now, bitcoin is no longer something that makes people distrust but is instead used as an attractive investment like other investments. Maybe now I can conclude that investing in bitcoin is more attractive.
