I never receive this one for opay before but the one wey don happen to me before nah when I go open account for bank (the very first account wey I open) so them say make I come back in three days time since I wan do my Bvn join.
Omo when I go bank the stipulated time - I receive call as I Dey front of the guy wey Dey open, the caller tell me say him Dey work for the bank and dem need my account number and Bvn so that them fit run something for me make my account for work well - I talk to the agent wey Dey my front he confirm say nah scammer call me nor be their agent.
The thing wey baffle me be say - how those guys take know the day wey I come generate my Bvn? And also get my number? Most of these things I Dey reason say nah insider job.

I fit relate to this, because Similar thing done happen to me. The period wey I go bank for bvn related matter, when I reach house, I also receive call from unidentified caller that identified himself as a bank worker. I come reach a conclusion say:
Every bank wey dey this country get inside man wey dey give/sell our phone numbers to scammers.
Because, there is no wey this people dey dial random numbers, due to how accurate them take they target their victims.
Delta boys na dey do this thing pass them, go just call you for phone say opay dey do 25,000 naira giveaway make you call your the code web them go send u to receive your money once you call am them don hack ur opay account asap withdraw all your money.
In as much as we don't support fraud, abeg try not to mention any specific tribe or culture. And note, them no dey hack, the code wey dem dey ask for na basically like a recovery password to the opay account. T for Thanks.

They always tell people that no bank would ever call you be it a commercial or online bank, they can send a message if it's urgent but calls is completely impossible, this is what they keep telling people so they don't end up getting scammed but they are still falling for such an old trick. A woman's account was swiped because she shared her card details with someone that called her claiming to calling from her bank, always take note of this tricks

Most of this scammers tend to instill fear in their victims - just imagine you had millions in your account and all of a sudden your phone rings and the person on the other end reads out all your details and told you that there was a security breach in their server and they are currently contacting all customers with high balance so as to be able to help them secure their account balance from being drained.
Just imagine this scenario - there’s a high chance that many of those that will receive this call will give them whatever they asked for fear of them loosing their whole balance to the breach.

The strategy fit still dey work, like some criminals for oil regions you see them with file good looking una meet him go introduce himself with high profile say him fit gi you work for companies say him na contact person out of desperation, many people don fall and people still dey fall.
Concerning scamming, some bank workers even managers know plenty hacker wey them dey work with. Like last week I try recharge ma line, network Probs Com come up wey make I no put ma pin to complete transaction, the next thing na debit alert till now I no see ma card.
Also now for nija scamming dey almost glorified by the people.
All this dey make the matter harder.

For naija person go just wake come meet you dey claim say him get job for you and you go just believe? Things not dey work like that for here now - even if person come like that most of us go dey skeptical of them because of the high rate of crime so we fit even take them as kidnappers.
Concerning scamming, some bank workers even managers know plenty hacker wey them dey work with.
It’s either their system has been hacked or they are truly associated with scammers because I remember when I went to create my BVN and the bank had issue with network and they couldn’t work on mine and I was told to return the following week - on getting home I received a phone call asking for my new account number and BVN claiming they were from the bank [they called all my details to me] and luckily for me I didn’t get my account number and BVN that day so I couldn’t give the caller and when I went back to the bank on the designated date I asked about the worker and they denied having any worker by that name.
When I called the number he answered and spoke like someone who knew nothing about being a bank worker.
Like last week I try recharge ma line, network Probs Com come up wey make I no put ma pin to complete transaction, the next thing na debit alert till now I no see ma card.
Also now for nija scamming dey almost glorified by the people.
All this dey make the matter harder.
You would have called the network provider or just complained to the bank and it could have resolved your issue.

There are literally somethings/situations that doesn't require too many thinking but common sense. Like, how will someone send me a code, then contact me, and also ask me to tell him/her the code. Some kind things no they make sense for ear, because we suppose they fit quick identify all this small small scamming strategy. For that your guy situation, the people just use forgotten password take collect the OTP, wey them come use as new confirmation code to access the Opay account. Na why e dey good to act smart for some kind matter, because assuming that your friend get Opay card, he for just do max withdrawal take wipe the account by himself. But, so sorry for your friend.

For naija everything suppose be brain brain stuff - first off, Opay or any other fintech app nor go just carry dey call their customers they announce say dem get giveaway for them - if at all dem go make use of that their pop up notification each time you open the app, so the phone call don already first tell you say nah possible scam, to make matter worse the person come still request for OTP through phone call, something wey Opay go even advice you not to do.
Well nah the guy loose guard - if he take simple precaution and analyze the whole situation he supposed know say nah scam dem wan try run am but him don use this one learn lesson sha next time he go dey at alert when stuff like this happen.

You have a very nice point here. People tend to be very vulnerable to scams and hacks when they are scared, and this is where scammers take advantage of them most of the time. However I think if one should understand certain important things like an Opay staff would never call you to ask of and personal or sceptical details like OTPs or BVN and NIN. Anyways we still have to be very careful of the kind of information we share.
I think opay recently added a life face verification when you try to login on a new device. I don't know how effective it is but it should add a nice layer of security.

The problem with Nigerians is that they always fall for any get rich quick schemes to hear about, people are always being told constantly that your bank would never call you whether it's an online or commercial bank, they have no business calling you. If Nigerians can just be reasonable enough to avoid all these scammers wouldn't come up with this trick. There are still people that would fall for this scam even in 2024, it's quite pathetic in my opinion.

It's indeed pathetic my brother, I've been using opay for close to 4 or 5 years now, I have never lost a dime with them, and neither has my money ever disappeared from my account, infact, I used to bank with Zenith bank, GT bank and Access bank, I have account with each of this banks but I stopped using all of them ever since I created an opay account, their service is top notch to say the least.
And the fact that I've never fallen for any of such scam proves that indeed, people perish not just because the lack knowledge, but also because they are super greedy. I've had scammers call me several times to ask for such code claiming i won a very huge amount of money, I simply cut the call and block the number, other times, I will simply play along with them if I have the time.
People can easily overcome the possibility of falling a victim to scam if they can give some of their time to education, stay updated and do away with greed.

The country is really telling hard on the majority. The surprising thing be say this man never do reach 2 years for office and things done get k-leg like this. Them say na patient dog they eat the fattest born, but as things come be, hunger wan kill patient dog.
Price of things are just increasing drastically with no job, and the government expects people not to go into crimes(even though we don't encourage that). As it stands, we gat hustle tight, and keep ourselves safe from those wey no wan hustle. No be everything person suppose dey talk for public. And as e b so, person no suppose dey trust anybody (even e own bank) for money matter.

Yes you are right, adequate research is very important for us here especially in the real world because lot of people has forgotten the purpose of making research before they venture what they want to do, so could be due to urgency they aren't that chance to make research and discovered things related to what they wanted. The country is in a messed and everyone out there needs to be extremely cautious about what they do or they information they utilized so easily if is that trusted and legitimate.

But Opay has business firm need to do well for the customers to trust them and not all these nonsense they are doing. These things wey dem dey do made me to delete palm pay account. I have complained this many times. I didn't click on the auto saved box in opay but may money was automatically saved and when I asked them they would told me that I clicked on the auto saved. I tried to withdraw the money they cut 3k from me because they speculated time has elapsed. Paid the money and withdraw the funds. I disable the auto saved before I know another 2k was saved again. Men I paranoid for them. Since day dey everything dey work well. Like this I don't like to keep big money for opay because I no want Wahala.

The importance of carrying out research, or even asking questions from others should not be overlooked. Many people today that have once fell victim of scams didn't plan for it. Some of them fit even they form wise before the matter happen. The way scam they happen this days, e go be like play play, before you know, the victim eye go come dey clear small small, as he/she will start releasing that something is wrong somewhere, which in most cases, it's already too late.

Well, it’s important to do research on your own and also share your experience with others in order not to fall prey to even more complex con acts today. No one wakes up with the intention to be a victim, but if one is not careful, you can be easily ensnared into the web. Sometimes some of us attempt to use our minds and be wise, but for the most part, they are tricky to the extent that one only knows that he or she has been scammed after being scammed. Thus, keeping vigilant besides practicing what everybody else has been through avoiding taking chances which are not necessary can be helpful.

It's essential to be cautious when receiving unsolicited calls from individuals claiming to represent your bank. Legitimate bankers rarely initiate calls to customers. If someone calls, claiming to be from your bank, be wary. Don't answer any questions or provide sensitive information. Instead, tell the caller you'll visit the bank directly.
Scammers often employ tactics to gain your trust. They might offer to transfer the call to a 'manager' to convince you of their legitimacy. Don't fall for it. Remain vigilant and never provide personal or financial information to unverified callers.
I also received a link, they said if I follow the necessary steps I will receive 25,000naira giveaway by OPAY Bank, but I choose to ignore it, because its SCAM.

It is then very important to live in the world with caution, at least as we deal with information that has been offered to us without our permission. Failure to jump into the debate immediately is another step which is highly informed by the potential risks likely to happen. Passing up what can be a really appealing opportunity is one of those actions which safeguards us not only from loss but is also the courage needed to not be fooled. Wherever the option is properly considered and then chosen the comfort is given and any undesired circumstances are avoided. In this way we alert others and we have more confidence in the steps that are proved to be safe.

The woman carry the phone go give their neighbor wey dey do POS so them tell the man say them go send am account to forward 50,000 Naira say na the woman go give them the money so when the man ask the woman she say yes ignorantly because she no understand wetin them talk for phone.

Opay scam is a very popular scam, they will ask you to share to five different groups and after this is done you will be asked to click on the claim button to claim your gift however when the button is clicked on it keep redirecting you to different dangerous websites, just because of giveaway, so let's be very careful out there, the scam is real please don't fall for it.

Na people way de find free money way them no work for na de fall for this kind scam. Everybody way de use internet suppose know how important OTP de regarding the safe keeping of any account at all. The moment them succeed to get the OTP, your account done de open for anyone to deep hand inside and collect the amount em go fit collect.
The Opay app de always request for update regularly, and for the Opay app, them de always give survey, asking questions to people way get the Opay app how to avoid these scam. Some times, people no de take am serious.
Funny enough, no be only Opay this thing de happen oh, even for our native banks, the same thing de happen there, as information for the bank de lick out somewhere. Any bank person newly open account with, you go just start to de receive yeye calls, with different description and assistance. Na for everybody to de careful, and avoid to give out any OTP way you receive, mostly when e done concern money matter.

The truth is first step for a person to get scammed is to be greedy. Basically I see no reason why opay customer support would call and opt in to give you money. That's one of the oldest and lamest scams and I'm quite surprised that people still fall for it.
The whole idea of a customer service agent from most organisations calling you usually ends up a scam. And worse of it all is people actually sharing their OTP with the scammers.

There is always a lick of information from the bankers to these fraudsters, yet the bankers will give advice not to give out these important details to anyone who will call. Why it pains me so much is that when you go to lay complains, most times they'll claim def ears, as if it doesn't concern them.
I believe it as a fact that every fraudulent act that relates to bank frauds has an insider through whom the needful information go out from. Most times, it could be some workers with the bank who were relieved of their duties, and they just want to have some revenge on innocent customers.

I agree with you because on the first place somebody is not supposed to be scammed by just calling on phone to show them an opportunity of making money because they should have understand it was a scam. So I don't think Opay is responsible for anything that happen but it was only unfortunate that those scammers did in disguise to be people who works for Opay. I don't no if they have come out to Make a statement concerning that but they need to come and clear their names so that people will not see them as a scammers.

Opay or commercial Banks would not call their customers for OTP, or other security information to be sent. And all what they normally do now is to restrict the account and you yourself go go there to do the needful. In those days, if you do mistake for the depositing account, the customer support team would call you to send the the correct account number and not to send them otp. I was almost scammed last 3 years from paga fintech bank which I quickly discovered that it was a fake customer support personal. Always be smart and wise in your dealings.

In my opinion it's easy to spot a fake customer support and one of the easiest way is aside from them calling first they never ask for any information from you especially crucial and important ones. The customer service has a special access to the system and should be able to get those information without needing to ask you.
Yeah it's really important to be careful scammers are getting smarter and it takes good understanding and perception to spot them sometimes.

I was once a victim of this scam before, infcat them wipe away my 20k and the remaining change them.use ammm buy credit, na through that number we later take track them, EFCC been blocked they account then, but still this scam format still exists and I receive calls almost everyday from the acclaimed okay officials.
We all need to be careful out there and try as.much as possible to act in the most security guided ways, never give out any security code sent to your phone.

Scammer no dey ever rest, they never rest, that is, as on strategy dey cast, na so them dey come up with another strategy.
Me I don dey use opay for more than 4 years going to 5 years now, I've never fallen victim to any scam that is related to opay Sha, but I've been scammed before through my zenith and access bank, and even though I report3d this issues respectively to the banks when they happened, the two banks did nothing to help me recover my money back..
Access bank told me to go get a court order to allow them access to withdraw the money from the scammers account and credit it back to my own account, I spent time and money to get the court order, plus other necessary documents, I submitted all the requested documents and every thing was accepted and the bank told me that in the next 3 business days, I would get my money back, it's been over 8 years now and I never got that money back..
This is just to say that scam can happen with any bank, doesn't matter whether it's online banking or physical banking, we all should always be careful at all times.
