Title: Been Denied Winning For Misplacing Your Winning Ticket
Post by: DragonF on March 13, 2024, 03:22:15 PM
This happened to a close friend. He won last week but he misplaced his winning ticket. In the betting shop, it was boldly written “NO TICKET NO PAYMENT”. When he approached the betting shop owner, the betting shop owner confirmed the winning but told him to wait for 7days to see if someone else would come to claim the winning. After the 7 days elapsed, nobody came to claim the winning. My friend was hoping that the betting shop owner would give him the winning but he refused because it is part of the requirements that you must present your winning ticket to the cashier before you can get your winning. My friend even had to plead that the winning should be shared between him and the betting shop owner but the owner refused. If you were in the position of my friend, what would you have done? Have you experienced such an incident?

Let it go. If the policy is no payment if you cannot present a winning ticket, then just accept that. Trying to convince the owner of the shop for any cuts is only a waste of time.

If the ticket is damaged, then maybe there's still a chance to claim.

A friend of mine has gone through this before he misplaced his winning ticket and he didn't get paid, this is why I prefer to just place my bets online because the bet slip given to you is a piece of paper that can get misplaced easily, this is one of the downsides of using a bet shop. In most cases the workers in these bet shops cash out the games of customers which isn't right

A gamble ticket is like a cash cheque, without which money cannot be withdrawn from a current account.

I think it's a good practice that people without tickets shouldn't be paid. If people are allowed to claim their proceeds without thoer tickets it might lead to lack of integrity and honesty from the part of the bookies. This is so because any random person can come and claim a win that's not his.

Again the winner might come back with his won ticket claiming he is yet to be paid

Well of course that is a big disappointment since we can do nothing about the mistake since it is required in claiming the prize. I think whatever the type of games we are in whether online or offline operators must find a way to help us claim a lost ticket I mean they should always have a system that identifies a bettor regardless of he has tickets or not as long as he legitimately win that bet. Maybe a simple face or fingerprint scan is enough to claim the said prizes just to protect the bettors ownership of the said ticket.

It's a norm. I have seen it several times. This is why you should keep your ticket very well and don't misplace it. There's nothing anyone can do about it, your win is gone because that's the rules ans it's not new. A friend of my won his bet of $300 with $2. He couldn't find his ticket and didn't get his funds.

seem  a very naive guy that bothers to go back to the betting shop without the ticket. betting shops are hoping people will not win and having this opportunity is not new anymore.
he wasn't denied, he just can't prove it that he won. its all been done before. the owner could even press scam or his claim.

what if there are other 5 people not just him also claims they won but has no ticket s well. will he also offer to split the winnings to 7 of them including the shop owner?

That's the twist of fate, there's no point in convincing the shop owner because he can't be the one who is running the event he is just selling the tickets. If you are supposed to win then you will and if luck plays different turn then we just have to accept and move on hope we will never repeat the mistake again.

Presentation of betting slip is one of the criteria for your bet to be paid to you  and it's boldly written in the bet slip so if someone misplace his bet then the probability of the person claiming his bet is slim because the fact is that their are different person's who placed bet on the same shop so if you're going to the bet shop with out your betting slim is like some one laying claim to s property with out a receipt so even if the matter gets to the court of law the person may not gets the money to his winning because it companies policy that winning to bet must be paid only upon presentation of bet slip so you don't have to blame the owner of shop

You can't claim your winning without the ticket, this is a solid proof that you are the owner of the ticket because you have to surrender the ticket for bookkeeping, the betting company will do an inventory and there should be a ticke to back up the claim, so the manager is right in denying your request.
The lesson here is do not lose your ticket or you will forfeit your winning in case your bets win, this applies to all physical betting station.

That is the most painful part of printing of slip, because the slip is your ticket of claiming your winning, without the slip no payment, but if you are considered the money will be split between you and the owner of the bet shop.

You should understand that casino owners and owners of sports betting shops or outlets will find every reason to make sure that they do not honor a winning ticket, so as a gambler, you need to make sure on your part that you do not put yourself in that sort of position. The notice of "no ticket, no payment" was already put up for situations like this, so unfortunately it is within the rights of the betting shop owner to refuse paying.

And the shocking thing is....?

The moment they give you a ticket it says right there on that ticket to keep it safe to claim your winnings, or at least that's how it works in most of the world, what is the owner of the shop going to do trust him on his words that he has lost the ticket? What happens if someone else has found it and comes and claims the winnings too?

This is the way most gambling houses operate "No ticket no payment". You don't get paid the moment you have misplaced your gambling ticket because that serves as the key to your win. Misplacing it means you are not the true owner of the ticket.

Gambling tickets should be kept, only to tear or throw away unless you lose to the bet made. Any other thing before that when the bet is on, consider it a loss bet even if you win the bet. You are not the true owner because no evidence to show
