Title: How to quote from Btt and post it in Altcoinstalk?
Post by: DYING_S0UL on May 02, 2024, 07:53:11 PM
I'm not sure if I have used the correct words to explain my problem, but I'll try to keep it short.

I am trying to quote someone's post from Btt to Altcoinstalks. Everything works fine, the only issue is that the link between the quotation and source gets broken. For example, take a look below. It may show correctly, but if you click the link, it will give you an error. I'm pretty sure the BBcode has to be modified for this to work. But I don't know how.

Another factor to weigh-in is the reputation of both the Campaign Manager and the Campaign itself. A Campaign Manager with a track of well managed campaigns could be an important plus to consider, and checking this out may lead to better chances that the campaign does not eventually turn out to be a fiasco in terms of compromised crypto revenue.

I'm not good at BB code but I think you can simply quote someone from BTT and leave the link of that quote as reference.

That type of quoting will take user to the actual post of Bitcointalk but it will have the link inside the quote.

Ahh, neat trick, SamReomo. I did not think of that. Of course, I could have just used a quotation without any links and add the source inside the quotation. Lol, why didn't I think of that? Anyway, thanks for the trick, it solves the issue. Well at least for now.

Thanks for finding it useful. Yes, you could have used the source inside the quotation without any links and yes adding the source would work pretty well. I also had some issues in quoting posts/threads from Bitcointalk and I worked on that for sometime and finally I got those solutions. I'm happy that those solutions were helpful for you.

Anyway, thanks for the trick, it solves the issue. Well at least for now.
You're welcome, now the issue is solved, I believe you should lock this thread to prevent spamming. ;)

Of course I will, but first I will wait a bit longer. I'm certain there are other ways to quote without adding reference inside the quotation. If nobody replies with an alternative solution I will lock the thread then.

Lol, I don't think there are anyone to spam this thread. Altcoinstalks isn't as active or crowded as Bitcointalk. :)

Wow, that’s pretty cool. If I were to quote a post I would have just added the link at the bottom of my post since the quoted post itself won’t take them to Bitcointalk - but by following your steps I won’t be needing to do that anymore.

This is another way you can use,
Using the URL and then adding the quote, the text itself would direct you to the link if you clicked it.

Most campaigns (not all) also require that you wear their avatar (once you are a Full Member or above). I find that an avatar influences quite a bit on the image that we have of one than the signature he wears, since it’s part of the profile information on the left of the posts that we normally visualize. Having a crappy ICO avatar can easily be associated to your person, and thus “contaminate” your profile (says I, who does not bear an avatar by choice …).  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5115291.msg49961728#msg49961728)

Or this, you don't need to add the link inside the quoted text, it can be clicked beside the "quote" and will direct you to the source.

You can't copy directly the quoted text from another forum as the BBcode you copied does not include the link if you use it in another forum.

I did not think of this also when i need to post a quote from BTT but indeed it is broken when someone is clicking the quote directly ,
now I have idea on how to put link in ATT from BTT thanks for that though I still not tried this now but will check later as I need to create another thread.

This one looks kind of messy because of the underline format. :(

This one looks ok, I might try it. ::)

But among all the solutions, I liked this one, given by SamReomo, short simple and clean. Just included the source inside the quotation. ;)

Here is what i usually quote from different source to here or bitcointalk so can use either for both

Sorry about those few minutes of errors. I was trying to update something which I thought wouldn't cause any issues, but it did cause major issues, which I wasn't entirely prepared for.
Code: [Select]
[quote="[url=https://Any_URL_Here.com]Downtime[/url]"]
Quoted text
[/quote]
It will look like a normal quote from here but only will show after you click or hover the anchor text.

Once again, thanks for another solution, PX-Z. So far, you guys have given me four solutions to quote from one forum to another. And since my issue is now resolved, I'll be locking the thread now to avoid spamming.
