The EFCC chairman said our crypto are being used to finance the country's terrorism - I couldn't wrap my head round the whole thing because it's kind of weird for someone who has been in the financial sector to think this way. The young people in power are even worse than the old fashioned politicians we criticize daily.
When the SEC and the EFCC positions were appointed, we all thought it was a way to financial freedom for the youths since these positions are occupied by the youths. Instead we're on the knife here.
Some of you are aware of our activities in the area of investigating virtual currency trading and the likes of cryptocurrencies,” Olukoyede said.
“They are potential platforms to fund terrorism. A lot of us don’t understand that. Some of our discoveries during investigation of some of these platforms were mind boggling.
“We thought Binance was a major one. Yes, it was. We are prosecuting them. But there are other platforms we have discovered.
“They used some of these young men. Some of them don’t know that the people who gave them money to trade are people who fund terrorism.”
The anti-graft agency chief also noted that there is a need to adopt technology in tracking money used to fund terrorism in the country

I wont blame the EFCC because they are only being controlled by the government that put them in office, instead of them to be busy going after the financial embezzling politicians, they are busy running after the innocent Nigerians who are involved on making trades thinking they are using crypto as a covering to financial fraud, whereas what the people want is financial freedom, they have seen bitcoin as an alternative means for survival in which governments cannot provide such opportunity for them.

Nigerians are copy cat and they have started following and saying what the US government use to tell their citizens for the reason why they are bringing down mixers, but he twisted it the other way round because he knows that Nigerians don't use mixers. Before cryptocurrency came into massive adoption by Nigerians, was there no terrorists. Chiboke girls that was kidnapped and we did not see all of them till today, was it crypto that was used for payment. Boko Haram has being into existence since 2009,was it cryptocurrency that was used to fund them. Fuck the government and their low mentality on technology. Incompetent people in our offices will lead to system failure. No matter the fight against exchanges by the government, crypto have come to stay and the rate of adoption will keep on increasing in Nigeria until the government see that there is nothing they can do to stop citizens from using it and they will accept whatever comes out from the crypto space.

EFCC is independent institution, I'm not sure the Govemment official or top officials are influencing their decisions on this very "Naira" project, it's a simple case of ignorance from the SEC and CBN. The EFCC are only acting on their ignorance decisions on the CBN Governor.

When people were saying that Nigerian government doesn't know anything about cryptocurrency I was disagreeing with them but with this news I can see that they are fighting blind war and they don't know what is cryptocurrency. They are not even doing any investigation before stopping the p2p in the country and how cryptocurrency investment and transaction is used to sponsor terrorism in the country. And that is to say that dey don't even know what they are doing. They are really confused of what to do know.

I think they are hopeless and don't know where to channel their efforts and problems to because when you see as the country dey go you understand say them wan just frustrates themselves since they see that the youths are making waves even without them sorting for the youth people. This cryptocurrency is now there major target to make youth handicapped and to start begging after them, I believe if they allowed PO to rule something better could had came out of our country now than what we are seeing currently.

That dude happens to be one of the biggest clown the country has ever produced. The youths who are without jobs clearly have nothing to do with this, so he shouldn't generalize it. By the way, he should be able to identify transactions that involves terrorism, and not just sit in the office and start republishing statements made be the US SEC.

So, why do we continue to pick from the same corrupt generation in a country with over 200 million people, recycling barely 1% of the population since 1999? I saw a picture of Late Sabi Abacha's daughter driving in the veranda and living quite well; the Abacha loots from Nigeria's economy are enormous enough to feed Africa for the next two decades, and I'm not exaggerating. For more than a decade, banks in France and the United Kingdom have struggled to refund all loots. It is so enormous that removing it from the UK and French banking sectors would have an impact on those countries' banking sectors. I heard that his grandchildren are still active in politics today.

The whole Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria started in 2002 even before Bitcoin was created so who has been funding or how have they been funding them? Can't believe a big EFCC office holder can't even do a single research before coming on air.

I do not expect the EFCC a.k.a samba boys to go against the instructions of their pay master. Although they are educated and exposed but to this extent one would see the level of ignorance still in government.
They can not act on their own doing the right thing but dancing to the tone of the babariga men who have no conscience but are just looking for means to always make things miserable for themselves and not the youths.
The issue of terrorism did not start today so why then are they trying to shift the whole saga to Crypto. Do they really know how crypto works? The young men there claiming to be the head of these agencies are just fooling themselves when they should be doing research to get more knowledge on how the system works so they could be able to proffer solutions and suggestions as to ease the the alarming tension in the industry. But the reverse is the case. I think they too have failed in playing their roles as youths we thought they are. They just choose to do with their paymasters and forget the youths they represent there.

These people are out of sense. We all know this since many year ago. See how they handled the two Binance executives case. We are in a nation of lies, deceitfulness and bribery.

I have known these people to be incompetent since some months ago. This new SEC praised Kucoin for leaving Nigeria P2P market. These are the people that supposed to get things right, but they they are doing the opposite.
Ain't you tired of Nigerian leaders and their appointed workers? Sometimes I just stop reading news for weeks or for like a month or 2.
