I knew the idea about crypto since 2014 I think because that when I did some faucet thing if I am not mistaken though I didn't have any idea about trading, investing and stuff that time especially having forum account not until 2016 but I earned pretty decent amount of money from forums way back 2017 in Bitcointalk until I got here. What I like about it is that I learned new ideas and earned crypto at the same time. And yeah if crypto makes you a millionaire in an instant and you are a newbie then that probably be a pure luck because that is not how easy to make money with crypto.

Maybe I'm the type of person who likes not to research projects and study each project until they produce multiple profits. From the beginning I got to know crypto, I was only involved in bounties and airdrops, nothing more, I want one day to be an investor in one project. crypto

I started nine years ago and back then it was easy to find the right project to invest and and think that it was a get-rich scheme but not now, there's a lot of scammers and hackers and you have to be educated and dedicated to research on how and what to invest.
The landscape was different when I started, I guess that was another glory days of Cryptocurrency when everything presented was considered an opportunity to make a profit.

I've been in this market since 2015 and i have experienced those cycles in the past or simply with those halvings. Seeing those top coins in the market now into their earliest days.
Honestly, i have tons of regrets on why i havent been able to put up a few bucks with those coins and i might really be that rich by now but of course if its not something for you
then its not for you and just simply move on. Dont make yourself that keeping those regrets because you cant really be able to move forward.
The market wont really be losing opportunities but rather it would really be something that an endless one. So it would really be just that depending on you on how you do deal with it.

Actually, I've known about cryptocurrencies for a long time, but unfortunately I wasn't that serious about getting into it and studying it. Because I do this to fill my free time when I'm taking a break from my real job, but don't copy it. If you want to learn it, you have to be serious in order to get maximum results.
It is proven that my friend who quit his real job and focused on Crypto, is now successful and a rich person.

It's been over 8 years in the crypto space and I've gained a lot.
Understand what crypto really is and how the crypto market works.
Crypto is not a place for get-rich-quick schemes, but for those who understand and can manage crypto well, they will get big profits.
I feel it all, from the beginning who didn't know anything about crypto now I know enough what needs to be done.
Already got what I wanted and was able to make more profits.
-
This is a nice thread though. I believe from peoples comments and replies I and other members would read and learn. Personally, amongst the numerous experience I have had in journey into crypto, I consider patience to be amongst the major thing I have learnt. Patience speaks of great volume and only those who understands the patience language would understand. It has a way of controlling ones emotion and making them face reality and be logical.

I have been involved in the crypto market since 2017, perhaps at the same time I joined the AltcoinsTalks forum. Before that, I had learned a little about BTC in 2012 from European Central Bank report, and it was a shame that I mocked BTC and Satoshi.
After 12 years of researching the market and about 8 years of direct investment, I understand that the crypto market actually has clearer behavior than other mature markets. We have a cycle maintained by BTC halving, we have a BTC chart that grows in an unusual way with a slower pace through each cycle. And no matter how well we are prepared in terms of knowledge, we still have to be ready to accept surprises from the market, such as the double top in 2021 or the new ATH before halving in 2024 ^^

I was introduced to the cryptocurrency industry back in 2013 or at least 11 years ago when I bought some TBC or The Billion Coin a cryptocurrency that is always increasing in value which was, of course, a big scam to ride then with the expanding popularity of Bitcoin. Then I bought my 2 BTC on the same year which I used to join many money making schemes all of which turned again into scams. In 2017, I was introduced to ICOs and their promotional bounties usually done in the other forum. Now, with how long I am involved with cryptocurrency I should have been rich right now but alas I made so many mistakes that left me "destitute and poor" with just barely enough to survive. There are many lessons I learned and foremost of which is to HODL the right coin and never entertain the idea of FOMO as they can be great distractions to your financial goal...and to this I am a big victim...a victim of myself actually. I should have just keep my 2 BTC and never allow anything to snatch them from me...unfortunately I entertain some doubts and here I am with nothing in my hand except some dirt and maybe bacteria.

Go for it mate. But it is impossible in this space

I heard of bitcoin first as a cryptocurrency and I never knew that there was altcoins. In 2018,was when I heard about bitcoin and it was paving waves in my country. I was able to start learning about bitcoin in 2022 in the right forum which is bitcointalk. 2023, I noticed that I could earn from bitcoin and I registered and start my earning journey over there. Cryptocurrency knowledge had added a great impact in my life and I am happy for this. Don't use the money that you cannot afford to lose to invest in bitcoin was the first lesson that I learned

everyone has a comfortable place in every job, so not everyone can get big profits from crypto in my opinion,
Your friend may be a person who is really thorough and patient in everything, as we know, if crypto is in winter, don't get daily income, even monthly income is difficult to get.

- The important thing, at least from what you saw, is that you saw and realized that crypto trading is not really easy to learn, and above all, it is really not the get-rich-quick scheme that other people think of when they enter the crypto business industry.
It really needs a lot of determination and dedication, which can often be seen in those who say this on this platform, because crypto trading is not really easy. It is not enough to just make a prediction; it is more like my analysis that is actually carried out here and the tools that are also used for us to find out where the price of the coin we hold is likely to go.

I've been in crypto since 2016. I have a lot of regrets and I learned a lot from it. And now, I continue learning day by day as the crypto industry keeps improving. I learned that if you are being controlled by your emotions, it will be the reason of your loss. Make sure that your emotion is in the normal state before making a decision. Because the profit is a result of having a good mindset. That is the very key to survive and benefits from the opportunity we get in crypto.

You are saying if we have a mindset of assuming crypto as get quick rich scheme will make us burn out or otherwise? I actually did not get this part. I have also been involved in crypto since 2021 I guess, before that I spent time on virtual online mining in 2018 with no knowledge of crypto especially of blockchain technology. If I had had some knowledge then I would not have wasted my time on these useless sites which were nothing but a waste of time and resources. As I got nothing from them.
And in 2021 I got to know about the BTT forum and then my journey in crypto started. And here I am, I learned a lot of things about BTC, Alts, Blockchain, NFTs, Metaverse, Liquidity, investments mindset, How to manage risk, trading, and how to write, I even started my career as a content write just because I was writing bounty article back on BTT and now I am an SEO content writer as a freelancer. I am glad to be a crypto users, it opens many gateways all you have to do is not think of it quick rich scheme only if you invested in a coin like meme and it gave you 100x but if you invested only 10 or 100 dollars then even if 100x you are not going to be rich.

I started September of 2017, and the first thing that I did, and I will never forget about these 2.
FAUCETS AND CLOUD MINING
I still remember spending around 2 hours clicking those captchas just to get a few cents in the form of cryptocurrency. After a few weeks, I will pile up what I got for free, and will deposit it on a cloud mining website (the name was Eobot, but now gone already) just to increase my mining power. I mean I'm just a beginner at that time, so while I'm doing it, I'm also learning the basics of cryptocurrency. To cut the story short, I stopped doing faucets because it's repetitive and overwhelming, and I completely forgotten about the cloud mining website where I deposited my free money from faucets.
It's good that I learned Bitcointalk as well because it helped me increase my knowledge even more. Same with this forum even though I'm only active for months only. :)
-
I have known about cryptocurrency since 2013, but I only became active in 2017 and was on hiatus for 4 years (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), which means that my active years in cryptocurrency were probably only about 3 years.
What I get from cryptocurrency is first of all money. Then some basic knowledge about how Bitcoin and some Altcoins work. I also learned about a more flexible payment system using cryptocurrency, which is actually my dream payment system, because there is really no interference from any government when making transactions.
-
- I have been in cryptocurrency for 2 years, and during this time it was not easy for me to start here, and it is not easy to learn crypto or bitcoin, especially the actual trade here in the field of crypto space.
Those who have been here for a long time are right in saying that it is not enough just to say with our lips that we want to learn trading. Because you really need to be accompanied by determination, which is often read in other forums and even here, you also need willingness and perseverance, and you must love what you are doing. As time goes by, there is something that must be learned. Even though I am studying, he is still, and we must always be an empty cup.
-
Where have you been or where did you even get the idea that it's a get rich quick scheme? It might have been that the people around you had the opportunity to profit from crypto, and it might have been a lot but you on the other hand might have not been.
There are possibly a lot of reasons for it but what I know is that it might be that the people that you know have worked their butts off to have that or something.
I have learned that you need to be patient and continuously be in the market and be in a group that is a good group that prioritizes knowledge.

I have been with cryptocurrency for about 7 years. I have already gained a lot from here and also lost a lot here. Learned a lot of new things both in terms of loss and gain. Crypto is a very interesting era where it is possible to gain a lot and also to lose a lot. so what I would say about crypto is that those who use it should use it with caution.
-
Crypto does not consist of just trading and investment but there are lots of other ways of earning but still people want to become rich quickly through trading and investment which is their big fault. I think if we utilize our own mind and do about which we know better as well as if we choose a less risky method of earning then we can make a huge amount without any stress.
The trading and investment will only give you profit if you have knowledge and your hold coins have previous successful history, means that the coin should not be a scam. Mistakes will make you master with the passage of time but it is a must to learn from those mistakes instead of leaving the opportunity.

I ever heard about crypto since 2017, but Not yet interested in entering the crypto world. yeah, just for a moment. And at that time, if I'm not mistaken, Bitcoin was also very booming. So, in 2018 we finally started to really understand what cryptocurrency was and started to be active on forums. Well, this is what brought me to crypto, because a friend told me about crypto and forums too. so learn little by little. It's just that I've been on hiatus a few times because I thought it wasn't worth it. but then again, come back again, because other friends are still active here too. So as long as you stick with it, it turns out it's not bad for extras. especially when I was actively trading, it was not bad. It's just that, not for long, because trading is really complex, and you can't analyze and monitor the market that diligently and consistently. ha ha ha

Our time in the crypto market is really important, even more important than when we entered the market. Profitable investors will feel that the crypto market is really promising and has many great opportunities, but it doesn't come naturally. It only comes after investors have put in a lot of effort and time to learn, trade, and have both profits and losses. All new investors have the opportunity to grow with this market!
I am a trader and I hope that as the crypto market develops, we will also have more experienced investors, then we can have more optimized investment methods for the crypto market and no longer depend on the traditional methods developed specifically for the stock market and commodities from decades ago.

It's true, we've experienced a lot of things that make us happy here and we've also felt a lot of losses and that's an experience we always feel in this crypto space.
This is a valuable lesson for us, but of course the existence of crypto has changed my finances a lot, especially in improving my finances. Not only that, I also want to learn more, not just focus on crypto and that broadens my insight in everything.

Emotion is another aspect of human feeling that some how affects the others. Being too emotional does not guarantee perfection and it does not also make things fall in line with your projection. When you learn how to deal with emotion, you are better to face reality as it is than allowing it affect your statutory operandi. Until you learn how to do away with being too emotional, you can not be able to do things straight without being disrupted. Until one learns to face reality and do away with being too emotional, one can not go too far in life.

I've been into crypto since 2016 and I've learnt not to be greedy. I've learnt to always take profit.. And the recent lesson I learnt is you can lose a fortune by buying coins on pumpdotfun. Lol

But I think sometimes it's ok to be greedy, and as long as you know what you are doing, you could be good in this market. Just stay within your boundaries, take profit re-invest your profit on projects that you think will do good in the long run. But the thing is that there are investors who just look for pump and dump to take profits. However, it's even greater risk for that, so it's better to just stay on projects that are solid already or at least have history to give their investors a huge profit in the future like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
-
Avoid being too greedy, as a crypto currency lover be it a trader or investors avoid too much greed otherwise you will end up losing all that you have gathered. I had several stories on how people hold their altcoin to some certain level after which they lost their investment to zero level while waiting for possible 100x before they would take profits from their holding.
And one more thing I will like to say, no altcoin today that will supperceed bitcoin and you shouldn't be washed with that theory that a particular coin or token will moon above bitcoin, this is a serious deception.
-
Learnt to have lots of patience :P Even though crypto is more volatile than stocks, still in it, if you want to get profits, you surely need patience and practice in trading, without that it is just not gonna work. Other things like how not to panic and how dip is an opportunity is something one learns through experience.
-

Do you know about survivor bias? I believe if you're not careful then you can fall into this belief. On the other hand, I've read many articles describing how someone who gambled everything on crypto failed, took their own life, fell into debt, etc. So yeah, while I do agree that crypto can be a way to get financial freedom you'll need more than time and tenacity to do that. Luck can be a factor that unfortunately is hard to control, so you'll always need to be aware of every opportunity on the market to get that.
I understand the sentiment though. I have many regrets about my journey too. But I'll never risk it all just to enter the market which is still very young and shaky, if your goal is investment. On the other hand, I've been using crypto to pay stuff regularly with no problem, so I'll keep using them regardless of what happened in the future.

Learned about Bitcoin first around 2013 on Indian forum called Ethicalhavoc, people were mentioning about Bitcoin in forum's shoutbox, which at that time seemed completely alien thing to me and also illegal.
Then I got Stellar (now $XLM) airdrop, I farmed it with my relations Facebook accounts, got plenty Stellar but sold it all for peanuts, iirc I sold it for about 3.5k INR (~45 USD at current USD/INR rate).
During same time joined bitcointalk (although started being active years after with new account), did faucets, did cloud mining (thinking those are legit, I laugh about it now), wrote articles on sites like Steemit to earn crypto.
Since last several years, been active every single day, it's such a good sector to be in.
Regarding learning, have learned plenty but can't exactly pinpoint what.

Hmm, that sounds to be interesting for me to discuss on this topic here... i have been in the crypto market from one year, and what I have learned is that we need to get more and more knowledge as things are so unpredictable here in the crypto industry, so one should never consider himself a good expert, even if he has been surviving in the crypto market for a very long time, as he can also just make predictions and never time the market so accurately. That is why I think one should keep learning more and more. What do you think about it? i would love to know your opinion on it.
As there is a famous saying in our religion, which is that one who says i has gathered all the knowledge or has knowledge of everything is just like a sparrow who just sips a drink of water from the giant big sea, so one should never consider himself a very knowledgeable person but rather he should keep learning.

Of course, knowledge in the world of cryptocurrency is still very broad, even studying it for 1 year will not be enough to know everything. The steps you take to keep learning are the most appropriate, because it could result in new ideas for developing cryptocurrency so that it can really be useful for your life.
However, I appreciate what @MCcabe has tried, where he seems to have learned something in the field of cryptocurrency... believe me not everyone in this world has done that too. Whatever he does, it deserves to be appreciated to encourage him to continue studying harder to understand cryptocurrency and the ecosystem related to cryptocurrency.
As there is a famous saying in our religion, which is that one who says i has gathered all the knowledge or has knowledge of everything is just like a sparrow who just sips a drink of water from the giant big sea, so one should never consider himself a very knowledgeable person but rather he should keep learning.
I love this quotes.. +1

Crypto is volatile therefore one should be mentally prepared that due to this volatility he can face huge losses and this loss should not be the end of your success journey but it will give you more courage to perform better than this during the next trade. You should tolerate your loss and accept your wins because both are beneficial for you as profit gives you money to make more trades while loss gives you an ability to learn to make your future trade in right direction.
Another better thing is to avoid your fear in trading because this fear can force you to do wrong trades or sell your asset immediately because there will be thoughts in your mind that you will lose money so to avoid further loss you will surely sell without profit and this is all due to fear and panic decisions.
-
I have learnt that being patient can end in both ways when you make an investment in any coin most especially if you didn't bought at the bottom. When you buy a coin and hold, it can go both side either up and or down. If it goes down, you might be persuaded to hold more because you believe it will go up and again, some coins don't end like that way.
There are some coins you will buy that will make your time in crypto and you will never expect such kind of profits, that's what I have learn in crypto and to avoid the first problem, it's better you buy any coin of your choice anytime we ever have a bear market and not when we are in bull run already.
-

This is also the time when I got into crypto. The longer I have treid earning in crypro the more I learn about the 4 year cycle that an investor should sell all in bear market.
When you been in 2 cycles, you know already what you do whatever kind of market is.

For a few years. I can tell you that I have learned a lot and that I can not be easily deceived wrongly in the knowledge of crypto to invest in a new or old project without having thorough research about the project on why I should invest. For bitcoin, I apply a DCA investment strategy of buying at a low price and selling at a high price during the bull run
-
A very important piece of information regarding these situations is that people are not really looking into anything crazy, and we can't really make a huge deal out of this neither. Bitcoin is something that is not a money maker that you turn on and get rich quick. You may think "that is obvious", but a lot of people join crypto, realize bitcoin can't make them rich quickly, and end up putting their money into shit stuff, and then hope for the best. Thats wrong, don't do that. Thats literally the biggest lesson, if you stop doing that and start just putting money into realistic stuff then you will do better.
-

Making mistakes once is still ok since you will learn from it for sure. Making the same mistake twice and you have a problem. Making the same mistake thrice and you must quit investing already.
Making mistakes is pretty normal and in your case, as long as you learned from that then there's no problem on it. Like you, there was a time where I felt that I need to be greedy, and it backfired on me. Instead of taking profit, I choose to hold because I want more profits. Weeks after that, the market went down, and my supposed profits turned into dust, and I didn't sell any of my assets. I learned from that hence, I'll take profit when the peak of the upcoming bull run starts.
-
I am in crypto since 2018, and crypto mostly proved investment and money default situations. There are always trends, market and technologies always develop, early investor get all the cream. Honestly speaking, I havent learned anything new from it. It showed that history repeats all the time. Like early investors in computer developers and manufacturers became rich people, the same early investors in bitcoin did. Like with enough money it is able to create pump out of nothing (GameStop case), the same might happen with any altcoin.

Got the idea of Bitcoin since 2016 fully dependent on earning on faucets as a college student then only created an account on bitcointalk on 2017 from peers and explore different things including other cryptocurrencies. Learnt about financial literacy and different things actually this includes the technical side of bitcoin and other crypto, smart contracts etc.

That's true. If you've learned already that the beginning of the declining phase in the 4 cycle of Bitcoin, you should sell all your assets. Some people thought the price will going to recover even though it won't. We have to wait for another couple of months or years to the end of bear market. We can say that it's tough to wait that much, but it's really worth it if we just keep following it.

But at least you got a big experience at that time, which you can evaluate so that the mistake doesn't happen again in the next moment... keep in mind that selling at the highest price is quite difficult to do, and we also need to realize that the highest price is only we will realize when the market starts to be bearish in the hope that there will be an even bigger bounce.
You can improve on the lessons of the past... for example by changing your strategy when you want to exit the market and exchange all your cryptocurrencies into fiat with the aim of restructuring your portfolio.

I'll go first. I've been in crypto for two years now. And I've learnt that it's not a get rich quick scheme. Using that mindset you'll burnout within a short while... How about you??
It took me 4 years to completely understand what is the market and crypto was all about , and its good that you understand that scheme about a "QUICK TO BE RICH" because in this there are lots of trying hard fails here.
Am here for sole purpose and that is to earn and gain for my children and maybe theirs in the next generation because crypto is for the generation to come.

Cryptocurrency is indeed one of the digital currencies that will be very influential in the future, once you understand the 4-year scheme then make good use of this knowledge. There are still many people who make trading mistakes, one of which is those who always buy at high prices and sell at low prices. Controlling emotions and not being easily influenced by market conditions are important values for achieving success in Cryptocurrency trading.

Bitcoin will still reach a new ATH above $100k++ and that is a target that is still reasonable today.
It's not too late to buy now, and there's still plenty of time to get a cheaper price.
If they are simply panicking about the decline in bitcoin after buying early, then they should prepare a reserve of money to buy back at the DIP price.
After the halving, the price of Bitcoin is indeed unstable, and it is a good opportunity for everyone.
Bitcoin's journey is still quite long, so don't waste this opportunity.

Almost a decade but still i do felt that there's still so much things that i do need up to learn. I have been through those numerous bearish market and with those bull run events after halvings.
Easy money making will really be just that good or applicable into the time that you are still newbie into this space. You would be commonly having those thoughts
that would really be on your mind but on the moment that youw ould be able to experience the harsh reality of this space or market then
you would really be having those realizations that its never been that easy in the first place.

Bitcoin is constantly maintaining its 4 year circle and those who believe it and hold Bitcoin tight are the gainers because BTC's ATH has always been several times higher than the previous ATH. And those who invested in Bitcoin during the bear season and held patiently until the ATH made huge profits. And those who don't are just going to regret it. I have been with cryptocurrency for almost 7 years so I have seen a lot of things happen with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency coins.

This could be mostly found amongst those who decides to trade on shitcoins, they're the ones who mostly gets caught up in the dilemma of market volatility and making the right choice or predicting when is the right time to buy or sell, which is almost impossible to predict.
But bitcoin investors and HODLers care less about short-term/temporary market fluctuations as they aim more for the long-term profits in Bitcoin which can be achieved by HODLing for the long-term.

controlling emotions is sometimes difficult for people in crypto, if there is a decline there will definitely be panic and make the price decrease even further,
Even though I have known crypto for a long time, if there is a downturn, I still feel panicked, and sometimes release my assets

This often happens to investors who are investing on shitcoins, and that's pretty much understandable, they're totally unpredictable and gambling on them would mean putting your emotions to test and not everyone can do that, it'll be a lot more easier to cope with the emotions involved in temporary market fluctuations if it were to be Bitcoin investment, because you're confident that no matter how much the price declined, the market would always recover and get back on its feet, but shitcoins do not offer such assurance which brings room for panic and possibility of making hasty decisions and actions.

Yep. So far, Bitcoin always repeats the 4 years cycle. In each cycle, there was always a new ATH and it increased significantly. If the ATH in the current cycle will be $100k at least, we also get another significant move. If this cycle always repeats, it becomes easier to get profits from Bitcoin investment. I actually assume Bitcoin investment won't be a high investment anymore because it is quite predictable. At least, every 4 years we will have a new ATH.

You still panic because you are still influenced by the news or the issues. I guess, you also invest in random coins. If you invest in Bitcoin or Ethereum, you won't panic because you know it is something normal and it already happened many times in the past. I suggest you to focus on the coins that you are familiar only. The old coins among the current top coins will be always the best options, mate. ;)
