Trump says he wants all remaining Bitcoin to be made in the US
June 12 (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he wants all remaining Bitcoin to be made in the U.S.
The crypto industry is increasingly trying to influence U.S. politicians as it faces heightened scrutiny from regulators, especially since bankruptcies at major crypto firms in 2022 spooked investors, exposed fraud and misconduct, and left millions of investors out of pocket.

Looks like trump wants to incentive miners in the US, and probably make miners move to us.
He wants the crypto ecosystem to be welcomed there. Amazing!

I still find it very difficult to trust these politicians because when they have a political interest they say all manner of things to make sure that they get people to like them. Whenever I see Donald trump trending on the news because of his positive opinion towards bitcoin I take it that he's doing all this to get the support of those interested in cryptocurrency and bitcoin because he has identified the community as one that is increasing rapidly.
-
Don't get me wrong, it's good to have someone influential say all these things but this also sounds to me like he wants to have control over BTC by gathering all these miners. Welcome them now and then impose rules on them later on. Anyway, it's what he wants but he won't get it.
-
he can offer the electricity for cheap

I've checked the link, honestly I don't get enough information there. I don't see any proof that it is really stated by Trump. It is rather short explanation in the reuters article. I suspect the media only wants to take the advantage from this issue. :-\
By the way, it is good if Trump welcomed the miners. But I am sure the miners won't move to US. They know it will be too risky if all miners are coming to US. They will be easy to be identified and controlled by the US government. Zed0X is correct, if Trump is selected to be the president, he is possible to control Bitcoin and crypto world in this way.

Although I don't like politicians like him, it is obvious that he is one of the few American politicians who publicly say what the US government thinks behind closed doors. Looking at the things that are happening, it's pretty clear that the US wants to take control of Bitcoin or at least most of it.

Trump is supporting crypto and using this quite effectively for his election campaign! For me, the fact that most of the mining power is in the US, a country with a positive view of crypto, is a good thing because at least we won't have any more FUD in the future like what China did to the BTC mining industry. If Trump wins the presidency for the next term, BTC mining companies will not be criticized in terms of energy, the widely adopted journey of BTC will be less difficult.
As a BTC and crypto fan, I support and hope for Trump's win. Currently, many crypto companies are contributing and supporting him, so his win can be seen as a victory for the crypto market in the legal sector in the world's largest economy.

The President is only a puppet man. Yes they have some power, but most things are done in the Congress and Senate. Everyone thinks this person is good or bad, but they aren't really understanding politics. It's all about the party that controls the House of Representatives that makes things happen IMO.

Of course, at least that's how it is in the US. Most of the less developed countries have a president who decides on everything.
Proof that the figure of the president in the US is quite formal is the current Biden. He is positioned there as a better alternative than Trump, although he mostly seems quite shameful for the position he performs.

With this binary choices - the still energetic and old Trump and the walking robot and old Biden - the best goes to no other than DJT. I would say that he is one of the least understood politicians of his time...at least to the biased mainstream media who are just looking for some minor slips coming from his mouth and yet so soft in inquiring on Biden and his many dealings...but to people who love Trump and his many policies that really worked for the economy, border security and international affairs he is their "hope" for a better future. USA is in a crossroads right now and there are now many well-known figures acknowledging this reality and they know that four more years of the directionless Biden administration can mean a big disaster for the country. The only problem I have is I can not vote for him since I am not a citizen of the country but let's just say I am one of the growing supporters from afar. Will there be a history to be made on November 5 as the biggest political comeback ever? Let's see and watch the colorful drama for the next 5 months unfold before our eyes.

I think it is one of the promises that can be believed. moving mining to the United States will be good, so that they can be forced in the future to implement blacklists or influence the network if all mining pools are suddenly closed, and moderate taxes can be imposed on them, in addition to the fact that these activities will provide directly or indirectly
I hope @philipma1957 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=64507) gives us his opinion here.
-
Does anybody believe that he can do it?
Does any miner around the world believe in what he's saying?
Well, I don't even know if he can do it, or if he can do it, will he do it for real? I mean whenever Trump is saying positive things about crypto, I'm at a point where I always think that he's just using cryptocurrency and Bitcoin to increase his popularity. Like what others said, his powers are limited, and the bottom authorities like the Senate and Congress will still talk about this one.
At the end of the day, he just wants it, but for sure, he will not put it as a priority.
-
he can offer the electricity for cheap
But he can't do that, because that's regulated at state level.
It's up to the individual states to lower their electricity rates or come up with deals for the bitcoin miners to partner with their grids.
It's going to be tricky because some states are firmly blue and are not interested in this sort of thing, while other states' grids are ran by private companies.
-
I think it is one of the promises that can be believed. moving mining to the United States will be good
Any kind of centralization in Bitcoin cannot be good. The US already has too much influence on the Bitcoin ecosystem through various regulations, so it is certainly not a good idea for them to have even more dominant control.
Does anybody believe that he can do it?
Does any miner around the world believe in what he's saying?
No one believes in this, probably not even Trump himself. It is a good thing that even if he were to be re-elected as president, he would not be able to make such decisions by himself. Its influence will be minor.

Well yeah totally agree as this is what is currently happening here in my country right now seems the house of representatives has more of a punch than the leader itself so if anti-admin politicians rule there then things might not result in good but unfortunately for him things will turn against his favor. I don't know if what Trump wanted to happen is good but yeah it needs much time.

Yeah, in Brazil when the president changes he has full power to go over whatever he wants, even the law....
Things are different in the US, and he will not have the power to do whatever he wants.
But it is a nice news to share here lol

Yeah, it can't be done. There is too much decentralization for that.
However, he can transform the US in a powerhouse for cryptocurrency companies. He may give some incentives for companies to move there, specially mining and other web3 stuff.
He can even make things easier for ETF approvals and stuff like that.
-
Trump says he wants all remaining Bitcoin to be made in the US
If the man really said that, then we can conclude that he has no idea what he is talking about - because the "production" of BTC is not the same as the production of cars or computers, and even offering free electricity and all possible benefits will not attract all miners to the US.
Besides, it's a very bad idea, because Bitcoin is still decentralized in every sense and it should stay that way - all miners and all CEXs + the most powerful BTC ETFs in one country would give too much power to one policy to direct Bitcoin in the direction they want.
-
It is truly amazing how politics shifts from one path to another path, quite simply. In his last term, Trump banned Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, but in his next presidency he wants to mine all the remaining Bitcoin in the United States.
I believe that behind this proposal from Trump is a hidden plan to control Bitcoin and mining pools, in continuation of the US government’s plan to control Bitcoin, which they began through the regulations they imposed and through the ETF funds that received approval.
I think we are moving towards a plan to decentralize slowly and over the long term.

Its politician promising behind Donald Trump has his important mission how to get more voter from cryptocurrency holder specially in United State, actually Donald Trump have five years ago when becoming United State president but he not give any positive impact for bitcoin get more space in United State as legal payment digital transaction.
Right now Donald Trump want to make new regulation of bitcoin in United State one day later if success winning the election, I don't think bad for United State voter give him opportunity become United State president for next edition and waiting his promise will make bitcoin become more friendly transaction there?

Either he wants to make the US a mining haven for everyone or he will make hell for everyone to mine BTC in their regions either way I don't like the motive here. It's just a political move to confluence BTC or the crypto community into voting for him instead of any other leader. Actually, most of the young people are into crypto right now and they have a vote to give.
That's why this dude is targeting them means will show them what they need to show. Let me mention that Trump is a guy who knows who to reach his voice to his target audience last time if I am not wrong he manipulated Facebook recommendation system so two types of people would see two different campaigns of him one like the gun one not like the gun.

Sadly, I think you're right here. I think the USA is trying to make sure they get all the tax money and other countries can fuck off. I don't feel like the USA having a Monopoly in the mining is in the best interest of the people or best interest of bitcoin. If the USA starts controlling shit, it's basically game over.
-
Basically he has seen that miners were getting a bit of pushback, and now he wants to make sure that he could get all their votes, its simple politics. If the %30 extra added tax thing (due to super high energy consumption that is) that would mean that Miners will of course not like that, and if Trump comes up and says "I am going to help you a lot, instead of hurt you" then he believes they will vote for him, and god knows maybe some will. But do not think for just a moment that he actually cares, nor he will do, because he had a lot of promises and he bailed out on them. Either politician isn't good ,bitcoin was created so we do not listen to them.
-

Good for them, not for Bitcoin. If the Trump administration understood cryptocurrencies, they would certainly allow them to grow, while encouraging both mining pools and full nodes to be located within the United States. With cheap electricity and low taxes, they would ensure returns and some kind of control over Bitcoin.
-
If he intends to make that a reality, he should stop 30% mining tax proposal. Although when many years ago people concerned majority Bitcoin mining happens on China, people shouldn't be excited for this Trump's claim either.

I think most things are better in a democracy compared to a dictatorship. At least there are laws that protect citizens privacy and other individual rights in the US.

A possible problem here is that it should be easier to enforce address blacklisting for miners (avoid confirmations from blacklist addresses) when most miners are in your territory...

Trump says, Trump wants, Trump promises... What Trump really wants is to have the presidency of the White House again, that is his main objective, and to achieve it he will say whatever he has to say, even if it is crazy things that no one can imagine. If Trump really wanted the remaining Bitcoins to be mined in the United States, during his previous presidency he would not only have offered very cheap electricity, but would also have offered tax discounts or even something resembling a tax haven for miners. Trump also had time to pardon Ross Ulbricht, but he didn't do it when he had the chance.

Who can believe a man who was ready for bloodshed to dispute the election results, and who says that in case of defeat something bad will not happen again? It is not clear to me why no one has asked him the question "Mr. President, will you allow BTC to become a legal tender in the US?" Why does it seem to me that the answer to this question could also be positive ::)

Fortunately or unfortunately there are many people who believe Trump's every word. One of the many proofs of what I say is when Trump suggested an injection of disinfectant and ultraviolet light to combat Covid, the result was that more than 100 people were admitted to hospitals for ingesting bleach after Trump's words, and I think I remember that 2 people died. I don't believe a single word Trump says, he's just looking to win back his seat in the White House, and that's why he's willing to say or do anything that gets him more votes.
-
Hmm, interesting. finally, someone daring even though this is not under execution just a political comment or thought but yup even someone thought about it, it shows now they are interested in some kind of developments. Good luck.
But here in our locality seems like such kind of statement needs a time span of 10 years to be given. Anyway, let's wait for the Action 7 implementation, until then stay strong.

It's just one more gem in his glittering list of statements that have unfortunately resulted in human injury and death, but I think that information only applies to the US, and that many more people around the world have died and suffered injuries because of what he said. Most politicians are not aware (or don't care) of the fact that everything they say can have very serious consequences for some people.
I don't trust him either, and I'm afraid it will be very bad for everyone if he wins, but it won't be good if he loses either - because people like him never accept defeat. I just hope that the authorities have learned something from the past and that they will secure all institutions from the invasion of angry people who will seek justice through violence.
-
It will be hard for miners to easily trust Trump on this, no matter how he sugar-coats his political campaign words on crypto. The miners wouldn't dare to leave their area of comfort, to come to the USA where laws or taxes would chase them away.
Miners should stay where they are until we see Trump win the US presidential election, and how his first year to second year of rulership will be towards crypto.

I agree. Although if Trump wins, who knows how much democracy remains in US. I hear his Project 2025 aims to give more power to president.

We just have to remember when MARA pool attempt censorship.

Trump can't do a thing about this!
He can't and he won't be able to offer subsidies to miners, which will really go bad with these other voters, he has little power on state level and more than that it's impossible for a country even the size of the US to offer better electricity tax deals than everyone else, including corrupt governments elsewhere!
That being said, the US will definitely hold the majority of the hashrate for years to come, with China out of the game there is simply no large enough player on the market with that much cheap energy available, like space capacity to compete with the US. So while Trump's promise is just another promise, a 66% percent will most likely happen naturally.

Why is China out of the game?
They have one of the cheapest electricity in the world, and also low cost hardware available. Legal problems?

If there is a way things can be done before elections, it will really help people from being deceive by this political movement. He was there for good 4 years and never did anything serious about crypto or even the miners but all of a sudden, they became a fan later all because of reelection.

missed this was busy this last weekend.
In the USA and world in dec 2017 btc and crypto was whaling smoking firecracker hot.
Trump passed the like kind trade law that end the tax break of trading coins with no tax reporting.
the law came into effect on Jan 1 2018 and crypto crashed in 2018.
So I think Trump knew how to hurt BTC bigly in 2017 and he did.
I would not trust him as a BTC supporter.
Does it mean I think Biden is good nope.
I think the USA is about to get fucked bigly over the next 4 years.
It is like I get to pick a lion 🦁 or a tiger 🐯 to watch me while I sleep. 💤
God help us all.
-

Chinese miners would have an advantage but their problem is that the government doesn't want them consuming that, they simply see no reason to allow an energy-intense industry in the middle of their transition for different sources.
With mining is the same always, it works great in some countries till it outgrows the usual capacity and turns everyone against it we have seen it again and again in a dozen countries or us states.

1 - Immediately release the developers of Samourai Wallet and Tornado Cash (I'm sure I've forgotten many more) from the prisons where they are serving their sentences.
2 - Immediately stop the persecution to which some Bitcoin service developers are subjected.
3 - Bitcoin to become a legal tender in the US.
4 - Free electricity (or very cheap).
5 - A very low tax rate for miners.
6 - Insert here many other good ideas.
If Trump signed a legal document committing to do the things I said above, I'm sure a lot of things would change. But as we know, he won't do any of that. Although if Trump really wanted to do it it wouldn't be very difficult for him with measures like those.

Nothing is free in the world.
If electricity becomes free, that would mean that taxes would pay for electricity. Making taxes higher. Venezuela did that..

However, the people of America know what he's up to, they can't give Trump the same opportunity he misused to rule them before. Therefore, Trump shouldn't desist from making blatant campaign promises of crypto that are full of lies

Amazing!
Trump have been bitcoin enemy since day one and with this statement now once He claimed the presidential office again ? Miners might turn their ways in US to do business because this seems a turn of tables for crypto community specially bitcoin supporters.
Donald Trump flips on crypto: From 'scam' to building a 'crypto army'
Once a “not a fan” of cryptocurrency,
Trump has reversed course and is poised reap a $100 million windfall from an embattled industry looking for friends in Washington.

that shows how trump changing gears now.
It is no shame to change his mind (even if the reason is to get more allies and votes)
Crypto is not the same as it was in 2016. I think a lot of people changed their mind about crypto and wee will see more.
-
Crypto is not the same as it was in 2016. I think a lot of people changed their mind about crypto and wee will see more.
He was president till January 2021, and he did not even do anything good for crypto.
Especially since we talk about mining here, he's the guy who slammed a 27% tax on mining gear right in the middle of his presidency, so talking about how he wants the US to dominate mining after taxing the hell out of them is a bit ridiculous.
4 - Free electricity (or very cheap).
For a thing that was supposed to be taking the money out of reach of the government crypto users sure love freebies ;D
Who is going to pay for that electricity?
-

He did it in 2017 he will do it again.
I can think of a lot of ways to hurt BTC so can he.
I don't believe a single word that Trump says related to Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general, he has had a lot of time to do many things, what a coincidence that these statements are made when he has the opportunity to re-enter the White House.
For a thing that was supposed to be taking the money out of reach of the government crypto users sure love freebies ;D
Who is going to pay for that electricity?
I know I know, I know electricity can't be free. I also said very cheap :o. The thing is, regardless of what Trump does or says regarding cryptocurrencies, I don't think he has much credibility.

He wants the crypto ecosystem to be welcomed there. Amazing!
If the US government accept bitcoin trading and mining then that should be a plus to bitcoin community because the price of bitcoin will increase and the participation will also increase the more and many more countries will adopt bitcoin. Trump has been saying to use bitcoin in his campaign too so if Trump really enter the government the matter what he will support bitcoin.
And things will be favorable to the bitcoin users. Let support him both in prayer and encouragement because through him others will follow it.

I can get the picture of what you are saying in the future we know politicians can never reveal their interior motive to why they are doing that and I believe you just said it all. He knew series of dollars are moving under way and he wants a system where they can have power over but unfortunately it's not still possible but when talking of taxation there is every possiblity.

Donal Trump is crazy person so it not gone the wise decision to believe Trump says. Also, have you forgotten that when Trump was president, he spread negative comments about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin? And if you have noticed, then you can understand how crazy to eat this person. Moreover, I also seen that he also said you will work for Ross Ulbricht for decreasing the punishment and also he will free that man. I will say these words from his man is only having some extra profit and show.

I wouldn't say his crazy, but his decision is somewhat controversial and against the norm, and probably that is the reason why he build a empire in the beginning before becoming the President, decisions that somewhat turn into positive and make him a lot of money, maybe creating a lot of enemies too in his business venture.
But then again, it's election time, he has court cases and somewhat if he can win the election and be re-elected, they might throw this case out of the window or he can borrow time since he is a sitting President. And at the end of the day it this happens, and somewhat they have control of the mining, it could be good for us in the next 4 years, IMHO.

It is a mess. But in about 5 months if trump wins the mess will calm down a bit. If he loses things may get violent.

Remember how many ends of the world we have had since Obama?
How were millions supposed to flee to Canada if Trump got elected how he will start a war after striking Syria and killing the top commander or Iran? Nothing happened! Biden again, he should based on tweets and news bring the economy into a recession, start ww3, there will be revolts, Texas will start a civil war....meh!
Three will be a few protests, some morons against clashing with the police, and then back to normal.
Oh, and do you think if he gets elected he will drop the trump tax on equipment?

Then you may have forgotten about some of Trump's activities during his presidency. He sometimes took a decision in the morning and changed that decision at night. Moreover, he has been known for his regular controversial statements and for this reason I have called him a crazy person.
Trump is currently accepting cryptocurrencies for his election donations but a few years ago when he was president he had a tweet saying he was not a fan of bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, even I couldn't remember his full statement but it was like that. And his completely taking this turn must focus on the next election.

he will tear btc and pow coins not one but two new backdoors.
crypto would be better with biden and the republicans blocking biden attacks on crypto.
