Title: If the internet goes down suddenly, what will happen to you and Bitcoin?
Post by: bayu7adi on June 13, 2024, 07:51:03 PM
We know that Bitcoin is easier to access using the internet, including all transaction needs... however, that doesn't mean Bitcoin can't be transacted without the internet.

If you look at the impact of the internet on cryptocurrencies today, it is huge. And what happens if the internet is lost???
Will you regret owning Bitcoin now? And will you fall into poverty seeing that your assets cannot be sold on any exchange?

Internet use of cryptocurrencies has increased tremendously over the past few years. So if the internet goes down there will be no end to our suffering because we can work on the crypto market for it. Besides, there are many people who will be in financial trouble because many investors in the crypto market have invested by selling their assets as well. But some people will have a life of poverty and some people will have less amount of loss. You need to know that there are rich and poor in the crypto investment market so if the internet goes down everyone will suffer. In that case i think big investors will suffer more losses.

Did you say increased?
Crypto is where it is today simply because of the internet, the internet is literally crypto if you ask me.
With the help of the internet, the whole world knows about crypto. Let's just assume that there was actually a way that crypto could be transacted and exchanged without the internet, it'd still be difficult for crypto to attain mass adoption without the aidbof the internet, because how exactly would it reach the whole world so easily?

If the internet is lost today, I think it will affect our daily lives not only in bitcoin.

Since the creation of the internet, almost all of our life dealings are dependent on the internet. which we can highly said that the internet is part of us in running and dealing with most of our social and economic lifestyle that evolves around the digital transmission, that the internet controls.

Without the internet, our life's will be boring and there wont be inflow and outflow of businesses that can affect the way we live

Yeah, if the internet is no longer available, we will have many more problems to worry about, including interacting with bank accounts, credit cards, and many other activities such as transportation, education, and commerce... We will have to go back to the time before 1969, using cash + phone/fax + paper for everything, especially exchanging information.

It would be a big shock to all of humanity, and I believe that many billionaires will lose money in their bank accounts or the stock market, a crisis even greater than the collapse of blockchain and crypto. In case I had about 1000 BTC and that was my entire fortune, I would definitely regret not using that money to buy gold and become rich in the non-internet era ^^

If the internet were to go out completely, it would be a disaster that would affect all sectors, including affecting how Bitcoib works.
It will be a non-natural disaster that is quite terrible when all means of information are cut off and it is like the world is drowning in a silence.

Modern people will not be able to live without the internet because it has become a primary need that must not be lost.
Right now if the internet is temporarily lost then there will be many complaints

I would say that the internet has become one of the most important foundations of the digital life that we are experiencing today and it would be easy to surmise that without the coming of the internet I don't think there can be the cryptocurrency industry that we have right now...it is not just possible. The internet united the global market for business of almost all industries, connect people of all countries except maybe North Korea and similar territories and successfully opened up many new possibilities that we have seen for the last decades that we experienced them. The internet is just like the invention of electricity which paved the way for the modern living to come and be experienced by all of us and it changed lives for the better. Now, in case the internet can be gone there must be a big reason for it...so I am thinking of a global nuclear war enveloping all countries just like the idea of a World War 3 coming to all of us in all corners of the globe. In this case, there is no need to say that life as we know it will cease and there will no more business to think about and there is actually no use for cryptocurrency as survival can be at stake. And lastly, even the use of the fiat money will not anymore be of use so we would have a chaotic economy by then. On the other side, StarLink of Musk may be able to provide us the internet connection we all need, if its satellites above will not be destroyed by China, Russia or Iran.

As a person who heavily relies on the internet for a living, I'm sure that I will be affected very much.

My source of income is pretty much online, and even though I still have an option to work as a government employee here in our place, I choose not to because I believe that the income that I can get online is much higher than what I can get. We are now living in a digital era where most of the people are into gadgets. Most people who have gadgets also want to have an internet connection as well. It's like internet is becoming a necessity already because most are dependent on it, and some already came to a point where they can't live without internet.

Overall, it will not only be crypto and Bitcoin that will be affected on my part, but my everyday life as well.

Internet use of cryptocurrencies has increased tremendously over the past few years.

Cryptocurrencies have always used the internet, pretty simple, no internet no cryptocurrency!

On the other side, StarLink of Musk may be able to provide us the internet connection we all need, if its satellites above will not be destroyed by China, Russia or Iran.

Starlink still needs ground stations to rely on the information for all the internet to the satellites and back, so if something happens to the fiber optic cables under the sea for example, then the satellites themselves will be nearly useless, and trying to get every data center in the world on board is simple making a million smaller ground stations, with skyrocketing prices for bandwidth.

If somehow the traditional cable internet goes down, we're *****!
Crypto will be our last concern by then!

That's a good question, and same has crossed my mind a few times. However, what I think is; Internet is too big to fail and not just crypto but even governments heavily depend on Internet so it's close to impossible scenario.

And will you fall into poverty seeing that your assets cannot be sold on any exchange?

If one has significant assets, I would suggest converting their crypto into something tangible such as real estate. Crypto is still fragile, whether Bitcoin or otherwise and imo if one has good portion of wealth in crypto he's better off diversifying.

Internet is most important psrt in cryptocurrency trading and we can't trade yet when internet going down. If happening in the same moment around the world I don't think get bad impact because all trader not get access for trading to sell or buy bitcoin assets. But get difference if internet go down with some country only will get bad impact for us can't sell if bitcoin price raise up or buy back if get opportunity with bitcoin proce going down. Some time I got boring when nog getting access with internet and can't update yet market price.

So many things are on the internet, and one of these is Cryptocurrency; if there is no more internet, all the Cryptocurrency we hold will be rendered useless, and there will be a big disruption of service. We will all have a drastic change in our lives because, for most living on this planet, the internet has become a big part of their lives.

I'm not saying it is a doomsday scenario, but so many things will slow down, especially communication. It's like we are going to live like in the 1980s and 1990s.

It seems to me that a world without the internet would become a pretty apocalyptic place (at least for a while), but people would adapt as always. Of course, this would have indescribable implications for Bitcoin and anything else that depends on the internet, but I hope it will not come to that - because if something like that were to happen, it would probably be a consequence of some global natural disaster or a new world war. In that case, what will be most valuable is food, water, medicine and means of self-defense.

Why the target is only the cryptocurrencies and bitcoin? Currently banking system are also depended on internet for transaction and transferring their data. And even there are also many sectors which is now fully depended on internet and they can't go a single day without internet so if the internet is lost then people will face issues not only in case of Bitcoin they will face also some difficulty in others sector. Currently I don't think it will ever happen that the entire world internet will be shut down all at once.  Although there may be some internet slowdown in case of solar storm, it will be temporary but it is true that it will have some negative impact for those who will be trading in cryptocurrencies.

Every aspect of the countries economy uses the internet, from national and international markets, to banks and to schools, hospitals, churches and other important associations and aspects of the economy utilizes the internet, so if the internet happens to disappear today, you're absolutely right that the world economy woupd be crippled for quite a long time, until they're able adapt or sort for other alternatives to substitute the internet to facilitate things.

This would basically be an apocalypse. Even money in banks would be inaccessible.

Hlwever , you will still own your bitcoin without internet.

Your private key is just a number. You can still sign transactions without internet.
When internet comes back, you could spend it.

Apocalyptic? I think it's a bit of an exaggeration!
You remember probably that in the 90 in all of ex warsaw pact states we basically had no internet, there were 40 million users in 1995 most of them in the US, yet the world was still pretty advanced, of course, it would be bad for companies and communications but it's not going to be that damaging to civilization.
To the comfort of our life, that is a different story, no internet, no access immediately to information, no online payments, back to phone calls, going through 100 shops to find a thing you can order now with a click, it's going to be a nightmare.
But a shortage of food, no, all the farms in my region including my family's one will keep going, it will be a pain in the ass to talk with suppliers and distributes but we're back 10 years only!

This is exactly how i see it, if this somehow happens, BTC will be in the smaller picture. Almost everything we do these days, we do it through the internet, so it is simply just the same as taking the world many years backward.

People talk about 'internet failure' and immediately mention BTC, yeah it can't work without the internet, but so does many other things we use in the world today.

What does this mean if the internet goes down forever or only temporarily?
If it's forever, then that will be the end of the online world, not just crypto. But if it's just for a short time because of distractions, so be it. Think of it as taking a short break from the rigors of the crypto market. And come back again in a fresher condition. This will make us ready. the important thing is not to panic, right?

Exactly!

That's one of the reasons a shutdown of the internet will kill crypto, because even if you try to find a way you will still need not only knowledge you can't search for but also basic information, how will you know the address to which you will sign the tx,, imagine the pain in the ass writing message with addresses and amounts.....

It's actually from a cartoon where the internet goes down and the first thing they try to do is search on their smartphones for "what to do when the internet is down".

I do not think anyone will have time to regret for what they had including paper notes. In a world when there will be no internet means you are edge of the time. The world is destroyed by a meteorite or nuclear blast destroyed the word. You are surviving in the underground, farming vegetable to live.

There are ways to access Bitcoin without internet but if ever the internet will disappear for months or years, the price would still the same or there might be a slight changes until internet came back again. Not only Bitcoin will get affected but most of the company around the world, in no hesitation all of us get affected. But I don't think having no internet is possible as it really need in our modern way of living.

I can vividly remember in 2022 when Facebook was down for about 7 hours. Even Mark Zuckerberg the owner of Facebook loss a lot of money and those who using Facebook ads to do business also loss enough. And if the internet is down then not only that people will lose but things will spoil as well. Bitcoin is a digital currency so if the network is down it will only delay the payment and transaction process. And just like normal bank network. There are times when we went to the bank, there is no network so we have to wait so it might not affect much. But when this forum and BTT is down for several hours or days then business activities will be badly affected.

Everything is literally online nowadays, even the little things we made use of offline are not online.

Usually, whenever we wish to buy stuffs, we'd just drive to the mall or restaurant or market to get them, but now, everything's gone digital, you can now sit at the comfort of your home and buy anything, nationally and and even internationally, which is even a lot more convenient and and less stressful and more preferable to people now.

Here in my country I have faced a trailer of it. Because we were out of the internet for a week due to political influence and due to lack of internet ( Cellular network only) we were not able to do our task. We could only use WiFi provided by the government authorities like Fiber Optics etc. Then we faced another trailer of this when there was an electricity outage in our whole country like for 2 to 4 days.

Net and mobile were off even the banks were closed due to an outage of electricity and Internet. At that day I needed some funds but due to no electricity and network, I was not able to withdraw. Then I realized that what would happen when I would be in sever need of funds and there would be no electricity all over the place. Things can really become bad really fast. That's why I prefer we should hold onto fiat (in cash) as well.

Definitely, as I have said the impact is huge, but I don't think that people will regret to have Bitcoin though. Maybe for those who literally put all their money on Bitcoin and doesn't have fiat or paper money at their disposal. That's why we always say that Bitcoin is not that magical bean that will solved everyone's problem here. So still have to think of other ways to survived in case of something like this happened in the future.

Actually when internet goes down not only with bitcoin have huge impact but also all sector from fiat currency and our saving money in the bank can't withdrawal yet without internet access. I think in the modern era, internet is most important thing and exactly for bitcoin holder or investor internet become their part life.
Bitcoin not worth yet without have access to internet because we need it when making transaction for selling and withdrawing to be fiat, without have internet access make us return back to dark era and all transaction automatically not worth it when internet goes down. I can't imagine one day or one week we can't get internet access and how its bad for investment or many people as influencer worker right now.

You are talking about the past in relation to the future, I am talking about the present in relation to the present. If someone didn't have the internet, then he couldn't have missed it too much, but take the internet away from people today and things could look quite apocalyptic. What I'm talking about is the addiction to the internet, especially among young people, and take away the internet from them and just watch what happens.

I've seen young people literally being treated for internet addiction, and that addiction has all the elements of an addiction to gambling or anything else - without the internet, all these people would become a real problem.

Basically this is your question.

This is the only way the internet would be fully and completely shut down.

If this happens the human race will suffer huge death rate millions maybe billions will die.
Besides crypto most banks will lose all their records. I would simply give my wife a hug check onmy guns and wait for the riots.

My wife and I would most certainly die. As would most if not all-of us on this thread.

To survive you need to have been underground in a shelter so some would live. lost crypto would not be the worst problem.

If the internet goes down today, it will be like the world has come to an end because a lot of things will go wrong. This is because internet is now part of our basic needs and imagine if there is no more food in the world, what will happen is the same thing that will happen when the internet is shut down, because a lot of people depend on the internet currently to sur.

If you look at the impact of the internet on cryptocurrencies today, it is huge. And what happens if the internet is lost???
Will you regret owning Bitcoin now? And will you fall into poverty seeing that your assets cannot be sold on any exchange?

I think your question also could be apply to other financial service. You would have hard time access your money or investment if their physical branch is too far from where you live. It's worse if they don't have any physical branch.

And answering your question, i probably wouldn't even think about Bitcoin knowing there will be riot and higher crime rate.

I wouldn’t say without internet the world will stop, but our daily life activities will definitely slow down. What exactly isn’t used today by the internet. Entire world is practically dependent on it. The feeling is just like when there is no network connection at all for few minutes and everyone in the environment gets stressed. It is not only your bitcoin in exchanges that will only matter but also the banks can’t audit any transactions for you

It's not even possible for internet to go down completely because I think the likes of internet computers run an independent service providers, I don't know how decentralized they are but it's not possible for the whole world to blackout on the internet, this is even why we have the likes of Elon Musk cable as space X but I don't just know if this independence service providers don't have affiliations with the local providers since permission is needed before they are allow to lunch their service.

There are so many things on the internet that the world depends on, if the internet is shutdown today, not only cryptocurrency will have a problem on it networks, virtually all economy will die because Banks can't do without internet, digital banking takes more than 60% of banking activities.

I really wonder what the world would have looked like if there was no internet. Internet has layed the foundation for so many development today, making lives much better and work force more efficient. Aside the fact that Bitcoin came from a mathematical innovation, internet still plays a major role in it's wide spread adoption. So if the internet goes down today, it will be a massive blow to not just Bitcoin alone, but all other cryptocurrencies.

I just imagine the how chaotic it will be when such thing happens. Bitcoin which has gotten to a market cap of over 1.29T and has earned the trust of so many investors. This unimaginable assumption would definitely lead to poverty for those who have invested heavily.

The riots will not be stopped when the internet crisis occurs, clearly it is because of a very vital blow... the world will be in chaos because I am sure no one wants to go back to ancient times again... that means Bitcoin will also disappear and no one will had thought about it as something valuable at that time... it seems like your statement made the most sense, causing Bitcoin to be forgotten, at least until the internet comes back...

Throwing away the seed key or private key may happen in some areas where the population is desperate.

There will be a very big problem if the Internet has a break down and nobody can access the web. Businesses will lost their profits and customers. And it not only affects business but also communication. And also people will die because security information will not be given to the military and other agencies.

Assuming this happens, when people have abandoned their private keys to focus on more important things like food, shelter, weapons..., and the internet is restored and a few BTC mining farms are operating to maintain the Bitcoin network, I still don't believe that BTC will still have great value at that time. Because when people have abandoned their private keys, their belief in the value of BTC is no longer there, which means that BTC will be revalued from scratch and may no longer be the most valuable crypto in the market.

I believe that at that time, gold will become the most preferred asset, similar to what happened thousands of years ago. Gold's long history and popularity will make it trusted and used in difficult situations in the world.

i guess neighbors turn to neighbors will happen then. we're already talking chaos and anarchy in many places about its just the internet that is affected by finance already rely on the internet today. it probably will just take a week before people run out of food supply in their homes and people will go out to find a grocery store they can ransack.  ;D

with what is going on today countries are already preparing war while economic situation is worsening. and us who rely so much on BTC will in the bad spot.
i guess those who diversify their investment to gold will have more chance.

they say gold will be $4k in a few months.

If the internet should go down then everything will be affected because this days most of the things we do are connected to the internet. Some few weeks back the under sea cable had an issue and it all lead to frustration because nobody was able to do anything, since the internet was down. And if everything is affected then even bitcoin will be affected. The internet have become part of our life and their is nothing we can do about it. Because most of the things they run are now through the internet. And actually since the internet came things are now made easy and information you need is every were just because of that same internet. Social media might have is own dangers but sure fun for us.

~

You are talking about the past in relation to the future, I am talking about the present in relation to the present. If someone didn't have the internet, then he couldn't have missed it too much, but take the internet away from people today and things could look quite apocalyptic. What I'm talking about is the addiction to the internet, especially among young people, and take away the internet from them and just watch what happens.

I've seen young people literally being treated for internet addiction, and that addiction has all the elements of an addiction to gambling or anything else - without the internet, all these people would become a real problem.

Well, let's just say that I don't think 20yo internet or tiktok addicts are the cornerstone of our food supply  ;D
I understand that it would obviously destroy the lives of a few persons, it would render a ton unemployed, it would have a severe impact on trade and production but we are an adaptive society, hell we managed to fix all the damn supply chains after the crisis even with lockdowns we managed to get food going. I'm talking here from both points as a member of a family deeply involved in food production and from my current job in logistics, there will be serious hiccups without the internet for a while but nobody will die from hunger.

The riots will not be stopped when the internet crisis occurs, clearly it is because of a very vital blow... the world will be in chaos because I am sure no one wants to go back to ancient times again...

Ancient times? Like the 90's?  ;D
Guys do you realize that we had intercontinental travel, nuclear reactors, space programs, cruise ships and luxury brands, millions watching sports and attaining concerts, superspeed bullet trains and 300kmph formula 1 cars by that time?

It might sound excessive  ;D , but for people who are dependent on the internet, it could be a nightmare like living in ancient times, right? For example, we have electricity to power the television, relying on satellite signals will only provide a few broadcasts for people living in remote areas... and in the end it is the internet that makes live television more interesting.

Moreover, some of the technological advances you mentioned are also not far from the internet in order to be able to get its maximum potential, yes, maybe not internally, but the existence of the internet will certainly influence that too.

In fact, I'm sure there are probably only a very few people who still care about their Bitcoin.

I face electricity outages occasionally in my old home, so yeah it can be a bit annoying for those who work from home, or simply looking for entertainment. In a scenario where I'm not exposed to the internet or can't make Bitcoin transactions for a while, I'll probably sit back and find other means to check the network if possible. Not necessarily because I'm afraid my Bitcoin will disappear, but because I'd like to make a transaction if possible. I've been using Bitcoin to pay for stuff for months, I don't think that habit will disappear just because my internet is down. Especially when I have easy access to food in my area.

Unfortunately, it's not just the internet in one area that goes out, but the internet all over the world suddenly disappears and no one knows whether it will come back or not... like we lived before 1983, the year the Internet was discovered... .

In general, life without the internet will clearly break the chain of our relationship with Bitcoin and also many things... does someone prioritize their memories of Bitcoin? or something else?

Well it's obvious that we can't accessed our Bitcoin without internet, no transaction is going to happen here.

In my opinion, if there is no Internet, it is not only Bitcoin transactions that will be affected but also the broader impact on other sectors that depend on the Internet for their operations.

However, even if the Internet did not exist, Bitcoin transactions might be routed via radio waves. That would not be as practical as when using the Internet.

An example of a Bitcoin transaction using radio by Rodolfo Novak to Elaine Ou:

Nothing will happen to your coins because Bitcoin is non-interactive.

If you are running a Lightning Network node and you have channels open, though.... you will be liquidated, as in the channels will be closed and the bitcoin goes back to an on-chain address, because you have to keep LN nodes online 24/7.

That's a LN transaction and even if it were a on chain TX the main problem is still there.
You can broadcast a tx to someone else, but that tx will never be confirmed unless it's added to the blockchain, and that won't happen without the internet. And even so-called decentralized or independent internet networks like Lora or what Helium is to achieve or even Starlink still need the good old internet to get the data they need, so basically no!
Internet goes down, the value of Bitcoin and all other coins crashes to 2009 levels.
The good part is that you won't see any twitter or tiktok drama either!

You are not answering the ops question.

The world wide failure of the internet would not be due to simple power failure. It would be the largest emp that hit the earth fully frying every chip there is.

Banking records would be erased it would be a failure of tech.
Every jet with a computer would fail meaning thousands of jets would crash and burn

It is just a hypothetical question which is impossible to happen. There might be some short period problem in internet provider side affecting customer for short period but won't last forever. But in case it does happen, not only bitcoin but also everything connected with online like social media, records of various sectors etc vanishes too forcing people to live like in stone age.

Although I haven't tried any of the different ways to use Bitcoin without the Internet, I assume the "easiest" is to use QR codes, but it depends on the skills of each user. There are several ways to do it, and although I already knew some of those ways by reading information years ago (via SMS), there are others that I didn't know about and I find them very curious.

There is very useful information in these links:

Sending Bitcoin Without Internet or Satellite Is Now A Reality (https://usethebitcoin.com/sending-bitcoin-without-internet-or-satellite-is-now-a-reality/).

4 Ways to Make On-Chain Transfers Without Internet (https://www.altcoinbuzz.io/bitcoin-and-crypto-guide/4-ways-to-make-on-chain-transfers-without-internet/).

I suppose if the entire network "went down" we would have much bigger problems to deal with than not being able to send cryptocurrency as easily as we do now.

Exactly the question look ironic and assumption answers were also given. Everything in the world right now is in internet so if internet stop working in the world then all the aspects of economic and technology will be affected. And countries will also lose a lot because the exchange market will also be stopped. Bitcoin is still in it tender stage and not all the countries is using it now so the effect will not be like that compared to other institutions in the world. And why bitcoin will be affected because of the huge and the large investment of people in bitcoin. But we have to know that not everyone in the world invested in bitcoin. So it will not affect much people. But since internet as a whole is involved then everyone will be affected from one way or the other.

Just as I was submitting this comment the network of this forum went down for about 10 minutes and and people loss funds in this forum just now but it would not affect those who are not using the forum. That is the clear explanation of the topic.

I seem to agree with you, a question that may be difficult to estimate at a time like this can happen, but it is also called an estimate that may or may not be correct.
The possibility is that there is a disturbance that occurs momentarily and needs repair and will not cause a problem and can be repaired.
But if there is no internet network anymore, then we won't be able to communicate with each other But we won't be able to connect. It is clear that everything will return to the past where communication could not be done quickly and returned to manual.

We use internet so much that if it stopped working worldwide it would greatly affect economy technology and financial markets. Bitcoin would be affected too since many people have invested in it. But not everyone has invested in bitcoin so only those who have would be directly affected. However internet is such a big part of our daily lives that a shutdown would indirectly affect everyone like we saw when this forum went down for a short time and some users lost money. This shows how connected our online world is and what could happen if the internet stopped working globally.

And when there is no transactions in the world then you know what that means in a hour. Therefore this topic I even see as an impossible topic or content. Recently, it was about two months back, the telecommunication cable in the deep sea in Africa continent was damaged and there was a network stable in the continent and precisely in Nigeria. If you look at the impact of the internet on cryptocurrencies today, it is huge. And what happens if the internet is lost???
If the internet is lost, it will disrupt a lot of sectors, not just cryptocurrency, Anything capable of causing a disruption in internet connection is enough to send civilization back to the stone age, and result in a lot of chaos. If the internet is lost and we loose crypto we have, we will only regret and be bitter, we will not die.

Will you regret owning Bitcoin now? And will you fall into poverty seeing that your assets cannot be sold on any exchange?
I will not regret it; I am not only investing in cryptocurrency, so I will not immediately be back in poverty.

You're right. If there will be no longer internet, Bitcoin value probably returns to Zero again ($0). Nothing we can do with bitcoin because Bitcoin is a digital currency. Digital currency means to rely on the internet. Well, I don't think everyone will think about the digital business anymore if there is no longer internet. We will be back to the nature, everything may return to the era before internet comes to the world.

LOL Stone Age present in modern times because the internet is dead.
I also thought about hypothetical posts like this and indeed it really happens, then all sectors will be disrupted.

Let alone dying for life, my internet was down for a period of 1 hour, I was confused and called the service provider to fix it immediately.
The internet has become a basic necessity that must not be lost because it will disrupt everything.

Any information will be connected to the internet and see how now, all information is easily obtained because the internet and work are getting better with the internet. Without the internet this forum would also be quiet, crypto trading would not run etc.

It seems that many of us are very dependent on the internet, and all of us cannot accept a world without the internet. Maybe it could also be said, apart from food, clothing and housing, the internet is a necessity for most people in the world to drive the economy. This is often a debate when comparing today with the past.... in the past, without the internet, humans could live, but it was very limited, and now when the internet has been adopted so massively, it has made the era grow too rapidly.

I think it is because of this addiction that many people cannot accept the situation of getting rid of the internet as soon as possible.

For digital investing business internet become most necessary important part and difference with your investing not in digital still worth although internet goes down can sell by offline.
For bitcoin investment we need internet and our assets is nothing yet without has internet access how possibilities for selling it and withdraw to be fiat or cash money.
Internet become part of important for every one with their work as influencer,  I think not only for bitcoin investor but also many people make internet is the most important thing in their life maybe half of their life stop when internet goes down.

But I do believed that there will still be people who have fiat besides them in case of emergency like this scenario. And that's why there are also like plan B for those inventors who are involved in Bitcoin to still function if there is a internet breakdown. Or maybe we can used

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unstructured_Supplementary_Service_Data

and there's what they call Lorawan - https://github.com/valerio-vaccaro/LoraCaster

There will be a very big problem if the Internet has a break down and nobody can access the web. Businesses will lost their profits and customers. And it not only affects business but also communication. And also people will die because security information will not be given to the military and other agencies.
Indeed, the effect and impact of a widespread internet breakdown would be really severe in all areas of modern  society. It's really gonna mess up a lot of things, from infrastructures to healthcare sectors, to security sectors and then to businesses and other important aspects of the society.

The internet is undoubtedly an important part of the world's economy and a breakdown would really have unimaginable consequences.

However, even if the Internet did not exist, Bitcoin transactions might be routed via radio waves. That would not be as practical as when using the Internet.
An example of a Bitcoin transaction using radio by Rodolfo Novak to Elaine Ou:
https://x.com/nvk/status/1101548727460741120 (https://x.com/nvk/status/1101548727460741120)

The transaction uses the Lightning network. Even though Bitcoin transaction activities use radio waves, they cannot be done 100% without the Internet, such as for transaction confirmation purposes, requiring a miner that requires Internet access, etc.

Even though it cannot separated from the Internet, several experiments show that some Bitcoin transaction processes can use other media.

Any information will be connected to the internet and see how now, all information is easily obtained because the internet and work are getting better with the internet. Without the internet this forum would also be quiet, crypto trading would not run etc.

I lived from 1957 to 1997 without internet. We don’t need it as much as we think.

But we structured much of the civilized world around it.

If the governments banned smart  cellphones. Allowing only a phone with a camera and calling. It would work. I know because it worked that way in the late 90s.

People now would buy bootleg smartphones cause they like what a smartphone can do.

If it is too fast, then there is nothing wrong, and it will be a good reshuffle of the technology for the future. Back in the day when the internet wasn't growing fast, people said technology wasn't developed well enough and just ran on the spot, but now that's all changing with the advent of superfast Internet wherever you are and AI technology getting crazier.  This is the World that many people wanted in the past.

I was also in an era when the internet was not really needed, because under 2000 no one needed it too much.
I don't even know any phone and only play with traditional games.

But now that smart devices are available that support accessing the internet, it becomes a basic need that cannot be avoided.
some people can't live without the internet and it makes them uneasy, but when I can't get the internet I can still survive because I live in 2 different eras.

Let alone dying for life, my internet was down for a period of 1 hour, I was confused and called the service provider to fix it immediately.
The internet has become a basic necessity that must not be lost because it will disrupt everything.

I think we have just got accustomed to Internet, just like people get accustomed to any other thing. If it goes off, I'm sure people will find ways around it.

Look at example; nowadays, people store data on Internet but before that they used to do so on paper, now if Internet shuts down (there will be chaos for a while, sure), people will just go back to paper. How hard that can be?

We know that Bitcoin is easier to access using the internet, including all transaction needs... however, that doesn't mean Bitcoin can't be transacted without the internet.

If you look at the impact of the internet on cryptocurrencies today, it is huge. And what happens if the internet is lost???
Will you regret owning Bitcoin now? And will you fall into poverty seeing that your assets cannot be sold on any exchange?
I hate trying to convince myself with false hopes. I am a strong hold of Bitcoin enthusiasts but believe it, I will regret at every course of my holdings when the internet crashes because it means I will be denied from accessing my assets and moreso, I can not further transactions with it that means it has totally disappeared and doesn't exist anymore.

With a fate on this thread, the only remedy to keep Bitcoin going when the internet goes down is when Bitcoin blockchain can build its own internet provider as to alternate accesses to our holdings.

--snip--

But it requires you to already have the tools (e.g. satellite receiver) and guide/article on how do that.

Since cryptocurrencies depend on the internet, if there is no internet, then all crypto holders will lose. But we cannot think like that. Internet service may be temporarily down in some areas due to technical problems or anything else but it will definitely be back to normal. And if there is no Internet in today's time, not only the crypto space but every organization associated with economic activity in the world will suffer. Moreover, nothing in modern age would be usable without internet. So nothing can be imagined without internet. Rather we may see the emergence of better and better technologies in the future. As time goes by people are getting more and more dependent on internet.

its hard to think of going back to the old stage where there is no internet. the finance of the countries are already relying on the internet connection which we transact thru the credit cards and crypto.

lets say the worse has come and war ruins most of of the power plant in a country, then this country will really suffer the worse and they people will be taken back to where they are using kerosene to light up the night.

the internet may be up again when developments begin too. but i'm sure it will take years.

I think I've read an article, but I've looked for it but couldn't find it. This is a problem about what if the internet can't be used. Is there an alternative that can be done for bitcoin transactions?
In the article it is said that this has been done and tried with radio waves, either via VHF or UHF, which have been used and changed so that they can be accepted, but is it effective and usable? It looks like the experimenter had used it on his friend and it worked.
So there are always alternatives that can be done, but are they effective? I think it still needs to be questioned too. CMIIW

If the internet goes down then many people will suffer for it since some people sell their assets to invest in bitcoin. I think people can find a way to send bitcoin using other methods but that's the question on how people will sell by sending and receiving bitcoin then it would be possible to buy and sell although I don't think it will be effective since there will be no record to begin with like the blockchain which contains the records of all transactions even the new coins that are mined.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly but as I understand, if there is no registry of your transaction on blockchain, the transaction never happened in first place.

Personally i'd say radio waves approaches isn't effective, since very few people run it, there's no guide how to do it (at least i didn't find such guide) and you may need license to use certain radio waves. IMO only only blockstream satellite that can be considered as effective, since it's exist since few years ago and they provide guide to use it.

Reminder that nothing is actually going to happen to your bitcoins, since it is basically living inside the copy of the blockchain that each node has downloaded. So at most your balance will be frozen - price will probably suffer though and that's going to be a whole different story. Most people will not even be able to sell in such a case.

If the internet going down, seems nothing we can't do from checking our bitcoin fund until how to sell or withdrawing to fiat, make transaction of bitcoin require with internet although not really faster but impossible for selling it without have access with internet. But bit possibility have one day later internet gong down because all aspect every country make internet is most important part and a lot of transaction make trough internet.
Stock investment and government internal transaction depend on internet and they are always protecting for internet keep existing.

Its just human nature. But that's where diversification comes. We should diversify our assets in a way that if we come to see such apocalypse we will be ready at least.

I prefer to call it apocalypse because it will not only affect BTC world but the whole world will be shatterd because each and everything is connected in many ways. Aeroplanes will lose tracks, people will lose patience and thus it will lead to disaster. I hope this day will never come.

It's good to know that this alternative method worked successfully, but thinking about it, I would be concerned about the security with which transactions are carried out in this way, that is, if they are as "safe" as those we carry out daily with fiber connections for example, although I suppose something like this would need more study and being able to do many more tests.

Well, I don't know if radio waves are less used or frequent, but I thought they would always be more accessible than satellite connections, but after your reasoning I see that this is not the case. So there are fewer and fewer options or they can be more complicated.

The internet plays an essential role in our daily life activities, and almost all of us are dependent on the internet in different sections. If the internet is off today, then the whole world will be disconnected from each other and will go back to the earlier way of life. Bitcoin or our crypto world will also be affected if the internet goes off. We know Bitcoin runs on the internet, and all the transactions, as well as our wallet logging, etc., work on the internet. In that case, all those persons who have some relation to the crypto world will be affected, but some will be less affected, and some will be highly affected because of the small and large investments. So, if the internet goes off, then Bitcoin will be useless, and those who have more bitcoins and rely solely on Bitcoin will be the poorest persons, and vice versa.

It is certain that everyone recognizes what you said, that currently the need for the internet is something that is as important as life without food. We need each other, and it is difficult to avoid it. But before there were cellphones and the internet, there were already communication tools that used radio frequency waves, and they were very popular and became much needed tools, the same as today's cellphones and internet connections. Because of this progress, radio frequencies are starting to be abandoned because they are considered no longer modern according to the current era.
I really agree, currently everything is affected by the internet and if there is no internet the world will seem to collapse, especially when crypto transactions cannot run and will affect all transactions, but it is not impossible that in time there will be a substitute other than the internet.

Eh, not exactly. You don't necessarily need the internet unless you are scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, and other social media 24/7 - at which this becomes a psychological issue, not an issue of you needing this thing or you're going to die - like come on. It's not as important as real basic resources.

C'mon bros! these are not going to happen in the next few decades! At least the chance is lower than 0.0001%. So please stop creating stupid threads asking stupid questions!

The country would be really affected by it, even if They're to adapt to the situation, it'll take a lot of time for that to happen.

If there is instant world-wide Internet collapse, nothing will happen to the Bitcoin price, because well no one will be able to do anything about their Bitcoin holdings.

Read the topic on the BTT forum to find out more information... the language is Indonesian, if you want to translate it into English, I think Google Translate is a good friend, because the writing is very neat and in accordance with good language rules... .

So the conclusion is that there are several ways to broadcast Bitcoin transactions
1. Using satellite
2. Using the telephone/SMS network
3. Using radio waves as in this article https://www.wired.com/story/cypherpunks-bitcoin-ham-radio/

But unfortunately of the three methods, I haven't tried any of them, because I'm already used to the internet which makes it easier.

If you look at the impact of the internet on cryptocurrencies today, it is huge. And what happens if the internet is lost???
Will you regret owning Bitcoin now? And will you fall into poverty seeing that your assets cannot be sold on any exchange?
Many investors will regret it if the internet goes down since many would leave to live horrible life. Because I've learned from my research that you can't access cryptocurrencies without electricity and the internet, this will not just affect cryptocurrency investors but also countries that have approved its use. That's how it made me feel about how losing the internet might affect the crypto industry.

We live in an era where the internet has created every nation. Just think of the problems that may arise if a country lost access to the internet even for a single week. It could have a significant impact on some nations economies.
I can't live without internet even for two hours, and it's not that I'm always doing vital stuff, but I think about others who use it for online studies, traveling, and many other things.

Aside Bitcoin, the internet has great impacts in our lives. Without the internet, distance communication would be a barrier and all online transactions would not function. There is no way you'll regret having your Bitcoin on a wallet because there is no other functioning monetary alternative. Banks would be shut down because their transactions are processed online so it would be a general blackout to all sectors or financial institutions. This is more consequently than it may sound now as almost everything is getting digitalized, let's pray we don't have such experience.

If the Internet suddenly stopped working globally, the value of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies would theoretically be unaffected, as no one (or very few people) would have access to their funds. Only satellite networks and some military networks, which always operate in isolation, would continue to function with some normality.

At that point, with all the chaos and problems that all countries would have, the value of cryptocurrencies would surely be the least important thing at that time for the population. Health systems, for example, would be the most affected, and probably also the defense systems of less advanced countries that do not have isolated networks or satellites.

Eummm... makes sense... even if people want to sell BTC, even if they have access to make transactions, it seems like no one else wants to buy it because their priority is their own safety and health. Perhaps more precisely, bitcoin transaction traffic has been temporarily stopped until the internet returns globally.

Many activities will be disrupted so that what is very likely to happen is panic and chaos between humans as a form of our instinct to survive.

Bitcoin suddenly become dead coin without any valuable yet if internet going down and not way for recovering. I think is huge problem when bitcoin going down and all aspect get down with their operation access.
Not only with bitcoin but also having money in the bank get pitential for losing because the Bank operation stop immadiatelly without have internet access. Internet become most important of want bitcoin keep get values because we can't sell our bitcoin when many people can't opening the market without have internet access.

The possibility to access your bitcoin and also manage the assets isn’t dependent on the internet connection alone, this can hold true through the use of offline storages like hardware wallets or cold storages. These methods allow you to safely store your private keys and sign transactions out of the Internet environment, which adds extra protection to your means of managing bitcoins. Offline storage also gives the owner full control of the funds at any given point when the internet is not available, and it also provides a sense of security from the assorted internet threats which are ever so present in the kinetic world we live in.

Your statement about the management of crypto assets that do not always require the internet is true, but it does not completely require the internet because after signing offline it will certainly send the Transaction by connecting to the internet to broadcast it to the blockchain network.

And to monitor the price and see how the fundamentals are happening requires internet access, because the latest news about crypto will be important news for the rise and fall of crypto prices.

Crypto management, whether offline or online, is complementary and mutually needed, so this depends on the needs of each user.

Yeah, we can hold crypto offline but will always need online to determine value and transactions to realize profits and balance ^^

The blockchain itself is a network of decentralized nodes that interact with each other through the internet, so the blockchain cannot exist without the internet and so does crypto. I think this is obvious, and we should worry about bigger losses if the internet goes down forever, especially related to the supply chain, communication and databases.

I have a little query about the closure of the internet worldwide. All the crypto world is working on the internet, and transactions take place, and we also pay to each other online, buy and sell, etc. If I have any assets in my wallet and when the internet is off, will this be valuable or not? Can I sell these coins in the wallet to some buyers? This question really confuses me about what will happen to us and if we will recover our investment from these wallets in case of internet loss.

We will go back to that older time when people used letters and pigeons for communication, and yes, this will take some weeks to reach out a letter to its destination. But another question arises here: whether people will survive without the internet? People are so addicted to this internet, and things are done in seconds. If this internet shuts down, people will be very disheartened and won't be able to do any hard work.

Right, we can hold bitcoin assets with offline until how longer time but taking profit by selling and purchasing need internet access open the market and open order as sell or buy.
Almost close opportunity or impossible earn much profit and bitcoin keep existing when internet going down because there are not any seller or buyer are opening their position order on the market.
Internet is the first needed for cryptocurrency investor, without internet their bitcoin or cryptocurrency assets without valuable yet and we can't sell or buy it.

Bitcoin is not relying on the Internet network because it mainly focuses on the blockchain technology and the bitcoin network which is a p2p network is also decentralized, bit for the sake of those already using a centralized exchange or hot wallets and their kinds, internet use may be required to connect their account on those exchanges or hot wallet.

It seems that you are right and cannot be blamed that Bitcoin is dependent on blockchain technology, but there cannot be connected trading transactions if there is no internet network to be used for transactions.
So, no matter what, the internet is always needed because without it, trading cannot run well. Although there is also news that a way is being sought for each transaction without using the internet, but when and we don't know yet.

Just now idea crossed my mind that if this impossible Internet stops thing happens, the people having tangible things may trade you their tangible things for your crypto — you give private key/phrase and they give you their tangible things. Of course, they may give you less value than what your crypto assets are actually worth due to the situation.

Not just Bitcoin, almost every sector and industries are relying to the Internet already, it is so big that if it went down for even a few minutes, the total lost will be huge. So we will definitely be affected as well, the thing is that there are Plan B in motion already, it might be crude communication, but I still think we can prosper and move on with our Bitcoin transactions. And to be honest, I do not think that Internet could be down, unless there is really a catastrophic event in human history. The only thing I remember is that when there was a earthquake in the Pacific like a decade ago and it did affect some parts of the world because the infrastructure was destroyed under the ocean.

It will disrupt all sectors and be dangerous for all systems that are now running with the internet.

The crypto ecosystem needs all the power of the internet for all existing interactions, for decentralized node networks etc., so don't let the internet go down.

In some places, perhaps as you said, there is no need for the internet in daily life, but there may be other means of communication to connect one place to another and, indeed, the situation is already isolated from the rest of the world, and in fact, there are still many areas like that And they can still run well.
But if you want to connect with the world outside that scope, you will obviously still need the help of the internet.
But for areas like that, it is not a disaster if there is no internet.

It's true, as other friends have said, the internet will destroy the economy... but for ordinary life, it will still be able to continue... it's just that movement is increasingly limited... the internet was originally something that wasn't that important when the presence of the internet has not yet been detected, it has now become a daily necessity for most people.

I also believe that there are still people living in areas without internet today, especially tribal groups who live in remote areas. They clearly will not be affected by the global collapse of the internet, because they had nothing to do with the internet from the start.

Of course, there are still remote areas like this, but it all goes hand in hand with developments in technology and its use in these areas. So, maybe there it is not related to various global disturbances related to internet needs. Unless there are personnel who do it outside the area every time they want to use the facility.

And overall, certainly not just Bitcoin, but all global aspects that require the internet will be completely destroyed if this happens. And ekmabli was like the beginning, when the internet didn't exist yet, relying on satellites or other things.

I would think likewise, for long distance communications, radio waves may become more necessary while waiting for the internet to recover... for those who depend on the internet for most of their lives, they need to be able to control their finances which are being affected... and for people who are used to being without the internet, it will only change their behavior a little.

What I am highlighting in this topic is the impact on Bitcoin users, so after reading several comments from friends here, perhaps I can also conclude my own opinion, that Bitcoin users will probably take a complete break and stop making Bitcoin transactions 99% of the time. Prices will freeze because what I have seen so far is that Bitcoin transactions are more dominant with the help of the internet. If there are no transactions, then it is like the era is just being stopped temporarily. Didn't fall completely.

Yes, it's possible to transact Bitcoin completely offline and without the internet, and there are about 2 or 3 methods I know of.
We now have specialized softwares that enables us to create an offline transaction, after creating the transaction, you'll need to sign the transaction with your private key, although this method would later require you to use the internet to broadcast the transaction to thr bitcoin network, so this method is not actually completely offline as you'll need the internet along the line.

There are also wallets that enables one to send and receive Bitcoin via Bluetooth from one device to another, this one can actually be done offline but the only disadvantage about this method is that this sort of transaction can only be possible if the devices are in close proximity.

Signing transaction offline doesn't mean anything if it doesn't reach to the blockchain, so I would not call it a method tbh, also signing transactions offline is more of security thing, saves you from Internet related attacks.

Maybe he's referring to how people send Bitcoin transaction through satellite or radio waves, although this still assume the blockchain or Bitcoin network is running properly. I don't think it's possible to replace that with Bluetooth, unless you want to run your own local Bitcoin network/fork. I don't think I've heard a wallet that claims they can send Bitcoin with Bluetooth (and synchronize to the blockchain with no internet connection) in the first place. CMIIW.

Unable to connect with friends, unable to pay bills, unable to works and countless things which I cannot even remember now. But, since Bitcoin does not depend on a single country, I still believe that day won't come.

Do you know many life's that depend on the internet to feed daily and many businesses that have to open their accounts to sell online? Bu unfortunately, I wrote it in my local language in a notepad and it was about what the Dictator government doing and what is happening in the country. But I can still write how I spent my days without the internet connection. I spent most of my times by sleeping, exploring the photo gallery in my mobile, playing offline games and listening to some audios that was downloaded on my device already.

There are also wallets that enables one to send and receive Bitcoin via Bluetooth from one device to another, this one can actually be done offline but the only disadvantage about this method is that this sort of transaction can only be possible if the devices are in close proximity.
I think that with the development of renewable technology, perhaps everyone can continue to experiment using methods that might continue to be developed without being completely dependent on the existence of the internet. I have read literature about the use of radio frequencies for these transactions, but there has been no actual publication because there may still be problems, so it has not been published and introduced for trial. Likewise, with what you have done with the method that has been implemented and there are still problems that occur, so improvements must continue to be made to become more perfect.
I think that by continuing to use renewable methods, simulations will be carried out to find the formula. Who knows when it will be realized and, until now, the internet is still needed.

You're absolutely spot on, what we need to understand is that the cryptocurrency and Blockchain Technology is relatively a very new tech and still have room for future advancement and development. While it's true that there's has been yet no proof or official publications of alternative methods and ways to send and receive crypto without the internet, I strongly believe that the Devs are working seriously on this and I'm the nearest future, with how technology is fast developing, they'll be able to give us a positive result on this.

It's indeed gonna be a milestone if they're able to achieve this because it's gonna be solving a lot of problems and difficulties people encounter, like being somewhere having or experiencing internet outage and other scenarios.

Okay, I always said this is a stupid question because such a day won't come anytime soon. But a similar incident happened to me and my country mates. I have never spent a day without an internet connection since I first started using the internet. But this time, I and my country mates had to live without internet for the last six days.

I and my country mates just came out from six long days of internet blackouts and are feeling fresh for now. But, I cannot tell you how it was without the internet. Unable to connect with friends, unable to pay bills, unable to works and countless things which I cannot even remember now. But, since Bitcoin does not depend on a single country, I still believe that day won't come.

So the question is no longer "what would happen if there was a worldwide internet outage", but now "what would you do if the internet in your country goes out".

And to be honest, I'm not sure if there is any answer.

If you got satellite internet, sure go ahead for it since that usually can't be blocked. But when you're using mobile or broadband then it becomes significantly harder to reconnect to the blockchain and your funds.

It's not like I haven't planned something like this. I also planned something and started to write.
Wow, I think it's not difficult for someone to live temporarily for a few months or even years without the internet. The elderly in my village have lived their whole lives without the internet, they access information through the radio and TV, never using smartphones or laptops to check email or watch TikTok ^^

Perhaps the problem only comes when someone tries to "quit" the internet and faces many problems at the same time as well as receiving many benefits. For an ordinary person like me, the internet is a source of information for work and study, there is no valid reason for me to avoid using the internet.

Back to the topic: the Windows blue screen incident at many companies can help us understand that when the internet has problems, we will care about bigger issues than BTC!

A sudden shutdown of the internet would cause a worldwide catastrophe where almost every sector in every developed country is organized based on it. You should keep the amount of alternative assets higher than the invested crypto.

I don't think going offline or making offline crypto transactions would be a good option or possible, though we can't underrate the future and its potentials but, if that is possible then the new development would have to work separately from the Blockchain, which might not be safe or difficult to for hackers to get in. Working without the internet and similar  to going blind, I hope we never have such experience were the internet would go blackout, because majority of our day to day activities are being carried out with internet connection.  The internet is the future, even fiat banking system are being operated online so cryptocurrency wouldn't be the only currency to be affected because it is fully digitalized.

Not perhaps but this is exactly it, you can not compare people who never used Internet to begin with to the ones for whom the Internet has become integral part of their lives, and then taken away from them.

Probably it's not that hard. Do you think I use internet just because of I want to check emails and watch TikTok?  ;D Bro, forget about the old days. Internet becomes part of our life. Probably I can still live without internet, but the whole system is useless without internet. We use prepaid Electricity system, prepaid Gas. Now if there are no internet, you cannot even recharge your metre and you have to start living without electricity and gas as well. The internet is up since last days after the blackout, but I am unable to pay some of my postpaid bills yet because their server is still not working. The whole country system depend on the internet. So, I don't think it will be easy for someone to live without the internet these days.

I agree with you about internet needed not only for social media account and active scrolling TikTok only but also we can earn money trough internet.

Yes it's true that the internet has already become a very essential part of our lives, but that doesn't mean that we have to overlook the vulnerabilities as well as the flaws that's associated with the internet. Let's take for instance, if a global internet outage is to occur ( although very unlikely to) just imagine the fate of the world at that point.
Making offline transactions could just be what the world needs, especially with the development of other technologies like the mesh network, offline wallets that are Blockchain based and also other decentralized alternative solutions.
This could turn out to be the best innovation the whole needs and can ever see in the crypto space, because being offline could be a very incredible way to keep your funds safe and free from online Hackers, as well as to provide a more resilient mode of transacting.

Not only earning money but also not possible to spend money. LOL. Most of us pay bills through banking apps or payment gateways that work with the internet. If you cannot use the Internet, you have to drive to some banks to pay bills, which will waste your time. Not only time but it will also cost some extra money and effort.

If you talk about traders or people who make money from the internet, they will be jobless and their life will become hell. Take me for example, most of my incomes are coming from the internet at this moment. I will have nothing to do without the internet.

Yes, you are right; the lives of people will not be any less than hell after the shutdown of the internet. Things are more digital at this time; even when you use Google Maps to find routes in your car, you also need the internet. So, if a person is driving in an area that he doesn't know and the internet shuts down, then that person will be lost, and it will be very difficult to find him.

Most people are doing remote jobs from their homes because of the internet, and some are doing online jobs. If the internet is lost, then they will be jobless, and for the governments, they are nothing but a burden to them.

Most people are doing remote jobs from their homes because of the internet, and some are doing online jobs. If the internet is lost, then they will be jobless, and for the governments, they are nothing but a burden to them.

The IT sectors are the biggest sufferers of Internet blackouts. Many people fly to our nearest countries, like India and Nepal, to use the Internet, saving their jobs and client contracts. A couple of companies also flew their employees to Nepal just because they wouldn't be able to afford the loss due to an internet outage. A lot of freelancers lost their clients because of this.

Imagine a developer built a extension that generate invoice for e-commerce website. He used his own server and it went offline due to internet blackout. That guy making 10K USD per month from this and now suddenly all the companies that was using his extension cancelled the deal with him because they cannot stop their business for indefinitely. The government won't understand these pain.

Without the internet, our life's will be boring and there wont be inflow and outflow of businesses that can affect the way we live...

Right now, most industries and businesses are already into the internet since it is providing the best way to reach the market and conduct business on a global scale...and this, of course, includes the whole cryptocurrency industry which is for now very dependent on the internet infrastructure, still a very centralized beast. There remains to be no viable way to conduct crypto transactions without using the internet...though this is one area that developers are looking into and I am hoping that soon they can come up with a feasible solution for this area. We can really see that life will never be the same without the internet as it is like the fire in cooking or power needed by gadgets to function well. Of course, nothing will happen to our cryptos but doing some transfers can be so hard, if not impossible. Maybe a wallet to wallet transfer can be done if one has proximity to each other...am sure I already heard of this technology before.

Seeing the very important position of the internet and also becoming part of the global business, makes me think that there is a dangerous side if the internet is only controlled by a certain entity or a certain group... becoming a global need is enough to make it an important thing that must continue to exist and continue to run... I myself am unable to find a replacement for the internet that can be an alternative to the internet itself... I think there is only one, and we will all definitely feel incredibly scared if the internet is suddenly turned off globally...

I am also a little doubtful, whether the developers are looking for other alternatives or not... because I still think they still depend on the internet and will be willing to pay whatever money they have to be able to access the internet even in difficult times.

I used to think that this kind of situation would never happen, but my dictator government proved me wrong by turning off the country's internet for 5 days.
The whole country was disconnected from accessing internet and also communication to the world. And these all work done for suppressing the movement of student in our country.
And I tell about the what will happen then I have to say in these day our losses are up to 10billion dollar plus. It is not even the thing about only the bitcoin, bitcoin , digital banking those are nothing when internet is shutdown and Cash became the real king.

Maybe, but as far as I remember internet especially broadband connection was shut down after July 18 in the whole country. And later on the 24th it was activated again although I don't know how it happened to others but it happened to me. And depending on it I said 5 days.

However, even if it is five days, the time may be more in most area's still the speed of the Internet is very low, just to know that Google's local cash has been activated, and that is why we can currently search and browse YouTube and Google. And from Facebook, Whatsapp, Tiktok and other social media are still blocked. I actually never thought that the whole country would be shut down for so long. It is estimated that our country has lost 20 billion dollars at this time.

The internet has become an inseparable part of life in this fast-paced era in determining all the policies that will be implemented. So, internet needs are very important apart from crypto transactions, but all needs also use the internet network.
You are right, currently Starlink from Elon is very helpful for the difficulties that occur due to the need for an internet network in all areas and that can be reached by it. This is really help that is really needed in an era like this. There are no more restrictions and everyone can enjoy the internet network.

I cant imagine if the internet will be shut down totally, there will be tons of dead coins, including the popular coins. Bitcoin may return to below $10 again if there is no internet, it is because people will get difficulty to trade the Bitcoin. Honestly, I never expect to see no internet, it will bring too big impacts on our life. Crypto world may be over, and online jobs will be gone.

But Mr. Palak just unblocked these social media today because everything he was doing just backfired in his Ass. Especially the remittence thing which will affect the entire economy. Now he is begging for remmitence. These fuckers will always stay the same. Make mistakes, ask for forgiveness, Repeat.
Yeap I have seen that.  Facebook and others social media which are blocked those can be used now without VPN. I have been Mr. Palak was thought to be a wise man because he used to talk positive about Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency in Bangladesh, but the current incident has proved that he is a joker. To say that most of the ministries of our Dictator are Joker. And they are constantly proving it through their statements.
Do you remember The Prime Minister visited China a few days ago for a 2 billion dollar loan that they did not receive. Now you have calculated the damage, it is about 20billion and there expatriates have stopped sending remittances, then think about where is their situation is now.

Should in case the internet goes down completely, nothing is goin to happen to my coins because they are not stored on any centralized storage, instead on the blockchain, but how i will be able to access this same coins will be determined by the kind of wallet i used in saving the bitcoin at first place, this system is completely different from that of the one banks and governments used.
If there is no internet, you cannot send or spend BTC, it does not depend on the wallet you are using; your funds would surely not be lost, but you will not be able to do anything with it. The same with almost every other thing that requires internet connection, including your fiat in your bank, if the internet fails, it would almost mean the world going back to the stone age, and the worry isn't going to be about BTC if this happens.

I liked it for the same reason. He spoke about Bitcoin, and we were waiting for some updates in the future. He tried to bring Paypal as well. But the thing is, he was not able to bring PayPal. Bitcoin is still banned in Bangladesh. So, there is nothing to give him credit. But I thought he was wise because I saw him working for people.

But as you said, all the ministers are jokers and part of that Dictator government. He has changed his statement multiple times in a single week. He lied over and over on people's faces. The idols we followed were just part of that dictator government.

You are right, currently Starlink from Elon is very helpful for the difficulties that occur due to the need for an internet network in all areas and that can be reached by it. This is really help that is really needed in an era like this. There are no more restrictions and everyone can enjoy the internet network.
When the use of the internet is fairly evenly distributed with today's more sophisticated technology, then the attraction to crypto will definitely also grow. There are a lot of new people who are starting to log in and learn about crypto.

There are no more limits, no more laggards, and everyone can take part in the development of increasingly advanced technology.

Yes he is working to bring PayPal to Bangladesh he has given such assurances several times but we don't see any progress. Same happening to cryptocurrency and bitcoin. I don't know what's the reason behind of this that they won't try to bring Paypal and as well as legalize the bitcoin in Bangladesh.  May be people will get freedom with their asset?
Because they shut down the internet from social media for 10 days to stop the small movement and now they have reduced the speed a lot and have banned more for fear of decentralizing ecosystem like Bitcoin that will affect their dictatorship.
And seeing the current recent incident, what I think is the assurances given by this joker to cheat people

True, but not everyone is ready to embrace such opportunity, some young people today do not still believe in BTC, because they cannot see it physically, they believe so much in the traditional system and that is really backward thinking.

Advancement in technology has made the world a better place to live in, and i just feel sorry for people who live in areas that are so backward in things like these.

everyone will embrace BTC, a legislator from Hong Kong an island controlled by China also advocates BTC as financial reserves as well just when the news hits that Trump plans to add BTC as financial reserves.

just recently as well Russia plans to use BTC for international trade transactions. when all these takes place i think majority of the countries will also be adopting BTC and all of the crypto i guess will have its bull run as well. we won't even be talking about internet going down or blackouts.

PayPal won't come in such a country where they won't have the freedom to work. PayPal considers Bangladesh a risky country to work in. They are a financial company and they are an international company. You know how centralized the country is and the law enforcement and everything. The law department always does whatever the dictators ask them to do. Palak talked to PayPal multiple times but I don't think PayPal ever agreed to come to this country. Nobody knows what is going to happen if PayPal comes to this country. What If Some "Chatra League" Kutta asks for a million dollars and kidnaps their workers?  ::)

Many countries have planed for using bitcoin as their international transaction to avoid from using dollar, but need waiting right moment depend the government regulation. In United State for five years later has opportunity with bitcoin will be legalize payment transaction if Donald Trump become the winner or election, but if loss seems bitcoin get difficult for adopting as legal payment currency transaction.

Bitcoin really need with internet, when internet going down make difficult for bitcoin development because the trader can't sell or but their bitcoin assets.

Those who still don't believe simply because they don't have enough knowledge and lack of literacy about bitcoin and crypto.

Even though the times are sophisticated and still see that bitcoin does not have a physical currency,
and now it is all digital and Fiat money also uses digital currency as a transaction.

People who do not have extensive knowledge of today's technological growth will certainly not be able to understand. Now that technology is getting better, the internet can be used anywhere and by anyone, and this will be the greatest progress for humanity to face a more revolutionary future.

The points you have mentioned that for Paypal won't come in Bangladesh it true. In fact, this country is not the right area for the business of a multinational company, not only about PayPal. If I say, have you noticed the situation of the multinational companies in Bangladesh with their business running groups, especially shipment companies, when the internet was shut down?
So I don't think any good company will unnecessarily increase their headache by investing in an autocratic country like Bangladesh. And besides, I think you know the condition of Bangladesh's foreign reserves. So seeing these I don't think Paypal will ever come to Bangladesh.

Correct. Without internet, we are impossible to open the Bitcoin on the wallets. How we send the Bitcoin if it is trapped on the wallets? I know some people argue that we have some ways to send Bitcoin without internet. But if the Bitcoin can't be accessed on the wallets because of no internet, we can't do anything to the Bitcoin. We also can't transfer our funds on bank wallets, we have no option for trading Bitcoin, too. I personally don't believe the government will let the situation of no internet, they must make efforts to get back internet.

Bro, I know all these things. let me tell you a short story which I read a few weeks ago.
I believe you know Mr. Jahangir who was the mayor of Gazipur City corporation. You may also know that there are hundreds of companies in Gazipur. That guy, during his period, did all the things he could do. He did not give trade licenses to these companies so they could raid later and loot these companies. But right after he got suspended, the companies started to invest again and grow their business. Later, His mother was elected as Mayor again and Now Mr. Jahangir again doing his job. Even the government sent multiple letters to the Mayor to help these companies. But Mr. Jahangir still doing extortion and I guess these companies will leave the country soon. You will see that multi-billion dollar companies leaving Bangladesh because of extortion.

Hehe,, Dude Can you say to me where is those Jahangir now? Is he alive ?  ;D
I think the great movement that happened in Bangladesh is rare in history when the head of the dictatorial government finally fled for his life. Hope this second freedom of Bangladesh will be maintained and in the future there will be a government that will not be so dictatorial and will not interfere with the internet plus I hope the next government will legalize bitcoin in our country

I don't know where Mr. Jahangir is now. But, I want to tell you not to hope much because there are thousands of Jahangir In Gazipur who just woke up three days ago. You should know that the whole country is Full of Jahangir. Those Jahangir's just looted a couple of factories in Gazipur in the last three days.

I cannot imagine why those people looted some Oil companies, Rice mills, Plastic pipe and fittings factories. People hate dictator government, but they should know that they are not better than those dictators. Whoever get a little chance to steal, or show their power, they don't miss a single chance.

Some few days ago, Bangladesh internet was shut down for some days and many people couldn't hear from some people from that region since they only communicate through the internet and noy through the phone call and I must tell you that many people were worried about them, the world without internet is going to be like apocalypse that will never end.

I'm not sure if the internet is ever going off completely, that's like stopping people from accessing alot of things in the country. The basic research of any country need internet for it to function but Elon Musk internet might be the next option.

Until now, it is clear that the internet is still needed and there is no alternative that has just been found if we are going to send bitcoin to someone else without an internet network. Agree that if there is no internet then we cannot access our wallet where we put bitcoin there, so we cannot do any transactions that can be done, we want to send anywhere, we cannot do it because the internet network that connects the wallet cannot be connected. Any government until now probably will not let the situation with no internet network, it is certain that a solution will be found to be able to get the internet network.

I will not disagree with you in this point also. Because there is no shortage of such bad and corrupt people in our country, but as far as I hear, dictators and some of the leaders of their groups have fled this country, but a large part of them are still in this country and according to sources, the leaders who fled are responsible for creating an unstable situation in the country. They do this kind of looting on orders. It has been seen in the media that those who are connected with loot i.e. robberies' different places of the capital are the leaders and activists of Chhatra League which is a branch organization of the Ex Ruler Party.

However, I am optimistic about the interim government that has been formed by the Young and old people, but they have to stay in power for a little longer to clean the country.

I won't blame the Ex-Ruler Party only. I know they are associated with these robberies but not only them, BNP also doing the same thing. I believe you have heard about Golam Dostogir Gazi (Bir Protik) who is an Ex-Minister of the Awami League from Rupganj, Narayanganj. He is the owner of the Gazi Group. I have seen that people were looting his entire factory in Gazipur and stealing everything like PVC pipes, PVC doors, Gazi Water Tanks, Gazi tires, and everything. Do you think this is done by the Chhatra League? I don't think so. Not only this but there are several cases where BNP Leaders were in command. I have seen with my own eyes what are they doing in my area. None of them are better than the other one.

Actually, there are more bad people than good people in the world, so I would like to agree with you again that those who are creating an unstable situation in Bangladesh are fueling the ex-ruler party as well as others as a third party. Like a few days ago law in order did not exist in this country and various gangs and terrorists minded peoplespeoples are taking this as an opportunity. And that is why peoples are looking for another new party who can lead the country without those unrest situation of the counry.

Moreover, Indian media's spreading propaganda in their country just to make some money. As you know, Awali Leagues MP Mashrafi's house was burnt in Narail, but the Indian media is spreading the news, saying it was Liton Das's house, which was burned by the terrorists of our country. What a fucking joke. We expect the media to verify news before they broadcast it. But the Indian media are something else. They do not really care about the legitimacy of the news. All they want is TRP and make money out of it. No only that news, They have spread a lot more fake news which old videos, pictures and broadcasting them. LOL. What a fucking shit.

In fact, if the matter was such that India's unofficial media would have done this, then it would have been acceptable. I see some of their main stream TV channel media spreading such rumours propaganda. Which is just to create an unstable situation inside Bangladesh and only to get political benefits with their religion, especially by spreading this kind of news, they are taking away the attraction of some fanatical Hindus of India. Also doing some earining through views.

I would say that minorities are not attacked at all but no attack is right but no one is attacked on the basis of religion for these political reasons. From them it can be seen that most of them were Awami League leaders because of which the houses of Hindus were attacked. I don't think it should be mixed with religion now.
