I think you should've posted this thread on "Marketplace & Bitcoin Services" board and mentioned which cryptocurrency address you're looking for.

And also how much coins he wants that wallet to have...

And how much he is willing to pay.

I knew this is a thing in bitcointalk as well especially when there are fork coins. But its already few years ago and probably it was redeemed. Will anyone can tell what's the benefits of buying old address except for malicious activities.

Nothing, probably with the hope of claiming forked coins but it's highly unlikely.

Another reason can be they consider it a collectible if they are extremely obsessed with it and have money to throw around just like that, but mostly they buy the old addresses to launder the money and let the authorities to go behind the wrong party. So buying or selling an old address with or without balance has no point unless you want to get into troubles.

I also don't think it's about forked coins. Although i recall few airdrop or giveaway require you to use address which has activity since certain date.

I believe so. I'm not sure which airdrop OP is farming right now, but he probably needs to spend again since most airdrop requires lots of transactions to be eligible nowadays. I think OP is taking a lot of risks doing this, but I've seen people keep trying their luck so it's hard to discourage them. He'll probably deal with scammers instead of reputable members.

Without specifying a date, the word “old” is considered a general description of a long period of time.
If you are searching for hardforks, you will most likely not find anything of value, so the reason may be for tax purposes or to claim an aridrop.
In both cases, you need a more accurate description of old.

It is probably to take advantage of forks as users say in other posts, and it is also possible that it is to receive future airdrops, something that was already seen with Decred years ago.

Whatever the reason, the user who started the thread should provide more details to really specify what he is looking for and how much he is willing to pay.

This thread has been moved to Marketplace & Bitcoin Services.

That's good point. Many members would find OP's offer is either weird or shady, so the one who might send him offer is either shady person or scammer who probably already setup script to steal any incoming coin/token on the address immediately.

It's been a week and the OP hasn't responded to anyone's questions or tried to enlighten us as to his/her intentions, likely will not either. Pretty sure you guys have answered the reason with the possible forked coins or the airdrops requiring old wallets. Still would like to see it confirmed.

No reaction on the questions in the topic for more than a week is a fair reason to lock this topic as an inactive. And this is done.
