It is well known that Lightning Network has become something of a topic as big as Bitcoin itself over the last few years, and now we are at the point where even the exchanges are opening up to Lightning integration. So why not have a dedicated board in the Bitcoin sub-forum just for talking about Lightning Network?
The thing I've noticed is that there are almost no Lightning Network topics ever discussed around here. This modification should change that.

I agree.
This could encourage people go create topics such as:
- exchanges which accept lightning network
- wallets with LN support.
Etc
And other topics such as step by step guides and FAQ

I like to see this. If there will be a board for Lightning Network, then I would suggest to expand it and cover all Layer 2s including the wallets or exchanges that supports them (as bitmover pointed). I'm personally interested to read more discussions on Liquid.

Liquid has very limited support.
We can see just a few wallets here
https://liquid.net/wallets
liquid.net is the best source of information about it.

I don't know, but I think admin sends a request to the president to create such aboard, and after approval, admin create it.
In general, a new board dedicated to L2 would be useful, because I think that LN discussions will be limited, especially since the technical board does not contain many topics.
so I vote for crypto L2 board.

i did a thread on bitcointalk on how to use LN on both nicehash and kraken.
10 screen shots and info. I could do a thread here using the info I did on bitcointalk.
both nicehash and kraken support LN and eliminate the need for you to maintain your own LN node.
obviously you put 1/10 or 1/20 maybe 1/50 of your btc on nicehash or kraken to use LN
but it is easier for new people to use them.
I will be honest I use LTC and Doge for small moves but those that really just want BTC should be able to find good info on LN

I do support we should have a board to discuss L2 related queries, issues and since admin has no issue with adding too many boards then I guess it can be implemented as soon as possible but better it can be posted in the suggestion box for more exposure.

Those are custodial and exchanges but when people don't want to pay huge fees they can take a risk by putting a small amount on LN of those exchanges and use it to make payments when fees are unbearable but we also had Phoenix Wallet (https://phoenix.acinq.co/?) which is non-custodial but let the users fund their LN opening their own channels which is not available for US people but it's available in other countries so people not from US can prefer this wallet than taking risk with exchanges.

Lightning Network is intended to be used with only small amounts of bitcoin (<100k sats) even if you are running your own self-custody node and open your own channel.
Phoenix wallet's activities is not an issue here, you can just use Zeus wallet which has publicly said it will not do any geo-blocking shenanigans.

I'd say that it should work the opposite: if there will be an interest of talking about LN and many enough topics with actual discussions, then there is the time for deciding to create a new board or not. And having another one not so active board... some say that we already have too many sections. ;D

So why not have a dedicated board in the Bitcoin sub-forum just for talking about Lightning Network?
You really think you would find enough members here to talk about Lightning Network when it's hard to even find good conversation even for Bitcoin main chain ? :)
Make a little test first and create a topic first and see how much genuine replies you will get about LN.
I not not really a supporter of LN since lot of centralization is involved, but this can be useful when fees are high on main netowrk.

I was actually thinking if BTT which is a bitcoin based forum even has a LN board. I don't think such a board exists there. There is where you will find upto 20 threads about LN. But here that even conversation in BTC is lacking, I doubt the board will flourish.
Anything about LN can be discussed in the bitcoin forum or the technical side of the forum.

I think your suggestions is worthable.
Because I think there's a lot of public out there who are excited about Lightning Network, but don't want to explore it further because they don't have proper guidelines and a proper place for advice and discussion. I myself am among such persons. So I think having a separate board for Lightning Network would be beneficial for many people like them to explore because there would be organized discussion about Lightning Network.

A laye 2 and possibly layer 3 dedicated board should be created. Or a layer 2 child board can under the main board could be another option. I agree we need such board to discuss and understand such solution on layer 1.

No there is not, but I theymos is not adding new boards easy.
Lightning Network is not that popular even among OG Bitcoiners and some of them are even against it.
After so many years of promotion and development I honestly don't see LN will ever be widely used, and they even started regulating it in US.

After doing the thread on kraken and nicehash LN I found using LN is a pain in the ass. So I use LTC and Doge for small wealth moves. Far far easier to do and cheap.
I think LN will continue to suffer a lack of adaptation. People will do what I do use Ltc or doge.

I was surprised to understand that some of the bitcointalk OGs are actually against LN. I have stumbled in different occasions where franky1 was strongly against LN that it is centralized, not peculiar to only bitcoin and most importantly runs off chain. In his debate, anything that happens outside the highly secured bitcoin blockchain is not bitcoin.

When I was new in the industry, I tried my hands on LN and discovered that it was more complicated than the normal bitcoin transactions. It was then I doubted the success of the project.
