There is a reduction in the number of engaging posts in the forum and on our local board, not only because the incentive for some Nigerians to be active no longer exists but also because there is a reluctance to start engaging topics. Our ability to create engaging topics will create more engagement and traffic in this forum and on our local board, which will benefit us all because there will be more people to learn from. What do you think about this? How can we boost discussions here?
-
Yes we need to creat encourage posting here in local bord. Like in our Bangla Bord our moderator announced who will creat new topic in our local Bangla Bord he will get marit for every informational and qualitiful post. I think it is good way to creat new topic or post in local bord.
Of every Bord our moderator announce this kinds offer then engagement and post will increase in local bord. I think it is best way for increase engagement in local y.

You want the truth or a silver-coated one?
I am just sticking with the truth people stop posting when there is no incentive for them so give them a slot in a signature campaign and see their activity, will be making posts constantly. :D
How about granting Karma to whoever is being active and giving their efforts?

It is rare to find a topic without responses, but we really need to talk about altcoins, as most of the talk is about Bitcoin, and to a limited extent, some altcoins, and most of it is related to price and not in-depth discussions.
Regarding the local council, you cannot force someone to join, and even paid contributions may not be an incentive if you can easily get $70 in BTT.
-
What metric are you checking out here? I’m curious to how you are measuring the number of Engagements here in the forum.
I think as long as you discuss proactively and with content that are not repeating the search engine would be able to put out this for more to the people who are searching for a specific subject or topic.
-
Just like in the other community, there could be at least incentive to see members posting here. However, if you are not that active then how can a campaign manager hire you? If you're account will appear if there is a campaign and then you apply, you might not get a slot.
So if you want to be at least consider in any campaign, then simply post at least in a week and be engaging. And maybe who knows, there might be a influx of campaign that is no longer permitted in the other community but very much welcome here.
And we probably give kudos as well to campaign managers who can get a client and then have their campaign here for exposure and marketing.
-
I highly agree with hugeblack's opinion. In this forum we should try to shift our focus to altcoins as well because there aren't many valuable threads of altcoins and those are highly needed here.
I also agree with him once again that we can't force someone to create threads or join valuable discussions of a local board. Even if someone is ready to pay them to make good posts at that local board then I still doubt that most users won't be able to perform well at some local board.
-
Op, here is doing fine when compared to other forums of same capacity. The only incentive holding posters here is signature campaign. So, it is normal that engagement will reduce when campaigns reduce. As time goes, people will start building businesses here which will keep them even when there's no campaign.
What metric are you checking out here? I’m curious to how you are measuring the number of Engagements here in the forum.
There's no special metrics used by Op to know that engaged has reduced here apart from direct comparison with BTT, forgetting that even if you have to pause the activities in BTT, in 10yrs time, here might not be able to match BTT.

Forum statistics say that there are 3778 Guests, 68 Users, so many people watch and few interact, which means that the forum content is good and that more should be encouraged to login.
There are also 1,509,412 Posts compared to 89,382 Members, which means an average of 16 posts per member, which is a fair number.
Statistics for the past months show an increase (https://talkimg.com/images/2024/06/25/hJCMG.png)

Everyone can take part of the responsibility and try to help make the forum even more active, but I have always been more on the side of quality than quantity. I personally have not noticed that the activity on the forum has decreased compared to a few months ago, but we should take into account that sometimes people are busy with real life and do not have time to be active on the forum.

Hey buddy it's seems you have couple of mistakes on your typing.
Anyway in our local board what was the initiative is giving karma to good quality topics not the merit it's not the bitcointalk forum :D

You have pointed out an important thing. I have always repeated this what that we need quality not only the quantity. I think if the quality is good then there is no problem if the activity is low. Moreover, if the quality is good, the quantity will automatically increase.
But rewarding users for good quantity and quality activity can motivate other users be it karma or something else.
-
I think one of the best ways to do this is to make users, especially new ones, understand that their forum account is actually like an investment in the future. Not only because of the possibility of participating in signature campaigns or bounties, but actively participating in the forum is the best way to learn, since that is what many new users ask, learn about trading, which are the best exchanges...
And although the forum is "more focused" on altcoins, that does not mean that we should talk less about Bitcoin, on the contrary, talking about the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem in general is what can generate more conversations and better threads/posts.

I agree we must focus on quality rather than quantity, and it's good to know that there are fewer redundant topics here, and all the news about Cryptocurrency is always updated, thanks to some of our members who provided us with threads on their articles sites.
but even if the topic is good there is a lack of interaction among the members it will just be rendered useless, so interact with topic that we know or can contribute.
-
The very mean thing we need to do is to engage to those who created their topics .
There is a discrimination sometimes when newbie created a thread there are very few that engage with it makes that account and other newbies to prevent themselves from creating new one.
and aside from that is Bullying , because there are so much bullies and attackers when you are new and does not know many things in the forum.
with all of those terms ? for sure each locals will gain more and more posters and engager .

There isn't really a way to.
As is the case with the other forum, the main reason why people come over here are for the signature campaigns. When those are no longer available, whether they are closed for new participants or for other reason, they naturally do not come and post here. Same for if a user was previously active in a signature campaign but now they are no longer in one.
-
Honestly, I don't exactly like this forum's UI compared to the other forum (we all know which one). Over there it's just easier to see what's new, so I get more motivated to read and interact.
The number one thing I'm missing here is the title of the topics becoming bolded when there is a new reply or when I haven't visited it yet. Everything just looks the same, so it's hard to distinguish which topics to click.

In this forum, the only thing retaining users here is the signature campaigns and as we know it is not as much as it used to be in the other forum and also the pay rates are different. In the other forum, there are other activities that hook people there in the absence of signature campaigns. For instance, some people have brand there, businesses and what have you that keep them there which is unlike here. But with time here will develop well on the very speedy it is now.

TBH, the UI.X of this place is not easy on my. Whenever I'm here, it appears that I'm always in a haste to exit. I believe with time I will naturally adapt here and maybe being active in the live chat can help me.

It is very obvious that users here are not engaging in most of the discussions because of the number of signature paid campaigns here. If you see the more active people here are those with signature campaigns. When that stops, you’ll see a reduced number of engagement here by forum members. If you do the same to the other paid forums, you won’t see most users coming to engage there. Also, the incentives paid here are much lower than that of the other forums, some can just decide to stay over there and not engage here when they can do lesser post there and earn x2 of what they earn here.
These are just what I feel is going on here that no much engagement is here. When some paid campaigns decide to open here, a lot of users quickly transported their accounts here and after so many trials to see themselves in campaigns and to now avail, they become inaccessible here and decide to stick to other one. With more signature campaigns here and willingness of people when they see interesting topics to comment on, we’ll see more active users here too.

I guess after seeing the BTT (you can say BitcoinTalk without any problem) UI for so many years, any other UI may seem strange to you, it's normal. And even though thread titles aren't bold when someone writes a new post, you will see that it has an orange label where it says "new," so you know that a user has written new content. That tag will appear whenever you have previously written a post in that thread.

By creating a topic which can accommodate newbies. I am sure that the number of newbies here overshadow the number of "crypto experts". A topic that newbies can chip in too

I don't think it's about how many "experts" or newbies there are on the forum, we are all equal. New users can post to any board without restrictions and ask any questions they have, there will always be other users willing to help regardless of account rank. There are only some restrictions in some private boards (for all ranks), but not when we talk about interacting with other users.

I think one of the most important kind of post is the newbie legit question.
For example
"How do I pay taxes in crypto?"
"I have my seed but I can't recover using my wallet, what should I do?"
"My wallet won't sync, did I lost my money?"
and so on
I really miss this kind of topics here. Users who are newbie and come exclusively searching for a solution for their problems.

I totally agree with this, even if it doesn't seem obvious at first. Especially for new users.

Specifically for this forum, saying accounts are "future investments" is pretty much implied. In fact, this forum is dedicated to users looking for micro-income opportunities, and as far as I can tell this forum has (been) actively moderated that kind of activity in the past to make sure users are getting a fair share of their work. About this forum:
Altcoins Talks is a cryptocurrency Forum, it is a place to discuss about tokens & coins, and join bounties and airdrops offered by ICOs and blockchain projects.

From my point of view, it's not just about what we can earn in signature campaigns or rewards, for example, but also about what we can learn. It's good to be able to earn something by participating in campaigns (and I know perfectly well that there are users who are here just for that), no one has any doubt about that, it is also a knowledge base in which we can participate.

It is not like their forum accounts are "like an investment" but it is an investment if they are active in the forum and one day they will will enter or reach full member and above them when signature campaigns slot open and if luck fall for them then the investment as started yelling fruit. Patient and activeness are some of the elements to achieve the goal. And also giving +karma to those active members so that can have the happy mindset to continue posting to receive more.

I often find topics at Show unread posts since last visit (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?action=unread) and from there I can find new topics where I haven't participated yet and I'm pretty sure many other users also use that feature of the forum. You may also give it a try to see if it works for you or not, for me it's working pretty well.

By creating a topic which can accommodate newbies. I am sure that the number of newbies here overshadow the number of "crypto experts". A topic that newbies can chip in too
Any newbie with confidence can engage in most topics, I think, because not all require technical or serious knowledge of cryptocurrency. Some topics require confidence in what you know as a newbie, because this forum smiles at originality, as people can learn from you a newbie, even the Admin of this forum can learn something from your originality if you really express yourself confidently.

that is also because there are other topics as well that do not necessarily are about crypto though of course a newbie will be here for crypto otherwise why are you in a website called altcoinstalks
still i think it is a good addition to still be able to talk about other topics aside from crypto with same-minded people as you, newbie or not
Some topics require confidence in what you know as a newbie, because this forum smiles at originality, as people can learn from you a newbie, even the Admin of this forum can learn something from your originality if you really express yourself confidently.
yes some newbies may be curious about something and ask it in the forum a question that maybe not even the experts can answer but it is a good thing because as a community we can learn together and from each other
newbies that have a fresh perspective are always welcome

I am just sticking with the truth people stop posting when there is no incentive for them so give them a slot in a signature campaign and see their activity, will be making posts constantly. :D
You have started out the fact of inactiveness of our local boards. I have also thought of it that if there's enough signature and campaign for the users, this forum will always be active because they'll be making a post constantly, just as you said. Also, I noticed that most users that teleported their accounts only make a post when there is an open signature and campaign if you check most of their profile, which is not encouraging because user activeness is one of the conditions for acquiring a campaign here.
How about granting Karma to whoever is being active and giving their efforts?
This is also a good view because it encourages us newbies. I check my profile every time to see if my karma has increased or if I have had a response to anything I have posted, whether it is a correction or one of my well-written contribution.

+1 for you cause you made valid point.
Lately, people seem to have forgotten about Karma system or they just only giving it to the people they knew instead of it's actual purpose which may lead to the worsening of the system in the long term.
Already suggested making the Karma logs public can mitigate by many but still it may not be on the priority of admin's to do list considering the evolving stage of forum.

Some steps can be taken to increase discussion in forums and local boards:
👉Create engaging content.
👉Providing incentives.
👉Activity development.
👉 Promotion and Marketing.
👉Question and Answer Session.
👉Platform Improvement.
These steps will help increase discussion and can make users more active.

What do you mean by no longer exists? Did it exist before because I am not aware of any. Most members are not able to give time on both forums maybe that's why we are seeing a reduction in the members and posts here. Creating new topics will create more engagement and open ideas to new topics too.
We can boost discussion by creating good and up-to-date topics about which everyone wants to discuss and share their opinions. If members are not engaging then we can't really do anything its their type of interest if they are here to make money only then they won't be active unless they are making but if they are here to learn and help others learn then they will be active and if their is any other issue than these then we should solve that.
-
To keep local members alive and actively posting on this forum, is to trigger them by creating topics that are easy to discuss... that could be a trigger for some more members to be active, considering that many people are starting to get bored with outdated topics... I also realized this, regarding the decreasing interest of users to post on local boards (because I am Indonesian, so I judge it on the Indonesian board)... some people may start leaving the forum because they give up after failing to make money from cryptocurrency here.. or maybe for some reason that I don't know.
the point is, to keep them active, we also have to often give them karma like @findingnemo said. appreciating their activity at least makes them not feel sorry when writing something on this forum.

Yes, although for some months now, there have been active engagement in discussion on this forum compare to years back when there was no much incentives and signature campaign but now that many signature promotion have been launched here, it has motivated some member to at least make some good number of post every day.

I won't really say there is a reduction in posts of this forum. To say there is reduction of posts or post quality on the forum then you mean that post quality is been high before now and is been dropping significantly since then. However I really don't see that as the case. The problem most of us make is thinking this place like bitcoin talk and the truth is this forum hasn't gotten to the level of bitcoin talk .
Altcoins talk is still a growing community and therefore you don't expect post quality to doing up to a huge value with the blink of an eye rather it will take some time for quality posts to come up here over time and I guess that is already happening.
-

i really don’t want to compare the two forums because i do think both have their own unique strengths and limitations it is no secret though that bitcointalk has the most activities and engagements even though it might have gone a bit less in recent weeks
i like that in altcoinstalk there’s a lot of spaces to talk about many things with not much restrictions compared to bitcointalk i am sure our community will still grow i just hope it does not change for worse

Seems I've been saying alot about karma lately or is the post I come across the reason for my replies talking about karma? Well let's just say many persons on this forum are not satisfied about how the karma setup is on the forum. Some persons are of the opinion that it isn't transparent enough while some believe that karma circulation is kinda stagnant and quality posts aren't getting enough.
Infact it's even impossible to tell which and which posts are getting karma even to the person receiving it. So many topics have been raised previously about karma but there hasn't been adjustments so far so I guess it's on the waitlist.
-

Things will take time, already admin said he is working on something that make which posts got the Karma but not the user who issued it which is obviously a welcomed feature and can avoid some of the dramas going around the things. We used to the merit system but this is different and making karma not for public has some merits too which is the same reason to stop spreading the hatred or people will go on for spree against whoever gave them that will create lot of dispute.

I think that you will be create an excellent topic here. Besides you told for improve all users account to give karma. So i am also agree with you. We believe that if we want to increase our members, so it’s the best valuable decision for our forum. But we also see that our altcoin members couldn’t very conscious for this matter. I think gradually we should increase our members. So we must be encourage there, if we can give karma for there beautiful post, then they will be encourage to our forum. So we should be conscious for this matter.
