Title: Is it bug or anything else?
Post by: Crypto Library on June 23, 2024, 11:32:04 AM
For a few days when I explore the forum, some member's avatar space looks like the screenshot below. Have any of you noticed this? And if so, do you know the reason?
Is this a bug or can users keep their avatar space like this?

I can only confirm that I see the same thing when it comes to the avatars of some users - I don't know if the problem is that they use some kind of non-standard avatar size, or if it's a browser problem. Those who use Tor reported a long time ago that they have problems with displaying the signature, and I don't see most of the pictures on the forum with Tor - although I don't think it's a problem in the browser, since there are no such problems on BTT.

When you are using a slow internet connection especially with TOR, sometimes you will be missing the images loading on your browser. By the way, images from talkimg does not load in this forum. Which end is responsible for it? This forum or talkimg server?

I think you are not only the one person who are facing this issue but I don't know why or the cause you are seeing this blank avatar. but I have also faced this many time when I used Tor browser. and I am seeing that already here to guy share it also so I don't think you have to be worry about this. just reload this face or if you have low connection just check that and upgrade your package or service your home internet.

Actually I haven't used to browser, I just use the kiwi browser for exploring the forum. I don't know if there is problem with my network provider or something else. But I just check that member account now I am saying is avatar is showing now. And I don't know that member what kind of image host service used.

Maybe try a different browser? I haven’t experienced that type of bug, but the initial thought that came into my mind is that you have a slow connection or it’s a browser problem.

I don’t get the cover up of the profile. I think it’s easily recognisable and if you want to reproduce it by other people you should really show the profile.

I don't know why you hid that username, but everything works normally for me. If this problem occurs in the future, press Ctrl + Shift + n or Browse in Incognito mode, (depending on your OS/browser,) and if the problem is solved, you need to delete Cookies. else, change your IP address, but in any case I don't think anyone else has the same problem.

Since someone reported above, I edited this part.

If this is not connection related issue, this usually happens when someone uses a url to show their avatar then later the image/avatar shows 404 in that url causing this kind of avatar error.

Not reading the posts in the topic? In post number 2, I confirm that I have the same problem - and it was talked about before, I just can't remember exactly in which topic.

Edit : @hugeblack, it's not my problem that you don't read the posts, but giving -karma because you've been warned about it is an obvious abuse of the karma system👎

I never heard about Kiwi browser. It must be an unknown and unpopular browser. When a developer is developing an application they basically check the browser computability with only popular browsers. In your case it seems you faced the browser computability issue. All looks good to everyone so far.

No, I read it, but another reply by @OP confirmed that it was user-end

anyway, I deleted the last part. Has anyone else reported the problem?

Your way was a little rude[1], especially since you chose my reply without reading @OP's reply, but I'm good now. +1 for -karma

Kiwi browser is kind of popular in the Android platform and they are not new either it's just open open-sourced browser based on Chromium so that browser isn't the problem unless it happened due to network issues.

I never faced such bug while using this forum.

I don't think  Kiwi Browser was that much unpopular browser. It was a mobile-based Browser and it has more than 10 million Plus download and review 4.5 star according to Google Play. I have been using it for more than 2 years and I chose it because I can use the desktop extension in this mobile browser. And one of the reasons for using it was that I was using BPIP extension on my mobile. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5436914.0)
However, currently, I was looking at this blank avatar in the user, it is not blank now. And I assume that one of the things explained by the members above will be the reason for this error, so I am ending the discussion of this topic here.

I didn't see this error with blank profile images, but I would recommend downloading image from campaign page to your own device and than uploading it in your profile page.
Hosting websites can sometimes have issues and we already saw in bitcointalk forum how they can totally restrict access.

I noticed something, when you drop a message, you get redirected to the homepage. It's pretty frustrating over time.

Since when I came to the forum I have not seen someone avatar in this way. And I think it is from your network that didn't load the image complete. So there are two things that can cause avatar space to appear like that. Your network and the browser as others have said.  And I saw some people were saying hosting website, and I don't think this has to do with hosting websites because avatar is directly uploaded to the space.

I have never faced any issue like that so far after being active here since last December. I believe that those who might be using Tor browser or slow internet connection might face such issues.
