This post was a little misconception of a fellow user on the other forum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5501023.msg64264885#msg64264885) saying that is not a good advise to allocate specific amount to gamble, that is good to gamble with spare money or money not in used.
Okay I was mean to ask this question towards people over here to know and draw different overview from you all to know whether you always have spare fund or money not in use? As a matter of fact I don't have spare money or money not in use and every money is useful to me therefore I have to set some specific amount from my weekly/monthly income to use and gamble to maintain a responsible gambling practice and when this money is exhausted I don't go further to alter any other money kept as reserved or cushion/emergency fund.
To summary here; whenever you are gambling with spare money if you don't apply cautiousness you would end up altering your savings in the name of gambling with spare cash or money not in use for other important things.
I will like to see your different opinion on this misconception maybe let us know how to control gambling addiction if by using spare cash can reduce and limits gambling addiction or not.

Because of how tough the economic situation is in almost every country I do not believe that anyone has any cash that they can tag as spare cash, even any amount of money that someone uses for relaxation has mostly been budgeted. it will be easier for you to keep control of the amount of money you use in gambling if you budget that money and stay discipline about the budget you have set out for gambling for that month or duration of time. It is not bad to have gambling in our budget.
-
by limiting the amount you can gamble then you are fighting the urge to deposit something when you lose. this is basically trying not to gamble more which could be your best option to not lose more especially if you are playing on casino games and not on sports.
its easy to get lured when you are looking at the jackpot prize to win. yes allocate an specific amount will be good for you in battling the urge to gamble more. i think there are more advantage on this than allowing your self to chase the loss.

Thank you for your input towards this as I was almost getting it twisted when said it is very stupid for someone to have an allocation like 1-5 percent reserved for gambling from their monthly income.
You know whenever an amount is allocated to gambling it makes you be in control on the amount you should be spending to gamble and if that amount has come to finished then that person has to take full responsibility of the amount to gamble with can be able to wait till that amount is being replaced again.

Of course you are right because sometimes with the kind of economic issues most countries are having and some persons are still seeing some money as a spare change it makes me wonder the kind of money they have because no matter how much someone would have on there savings no amount should be regarded as a spare money because when we talk about spare money we are actually referring it to be a money that is waste.
So actually you have spoken my mind because instead of seeing or having some money as a spare money they could possibly structured it in a way that they will keep a certain small amount for gambling, because the good thing about having a budgeted amount in gambling is that it keeps them away from getting addicted because immediately they exhausted the amount they will have to wait till another month.
-
To me, talking about gambling with spare money and gambling with a specific amount are synonymous because both involve discipline and gambling budgeting. It takes a budget-conscious person to gamble with a specific amount, and whether we agree or not, that specific amount is likely to be one that the gambler can spare.
I believe that it is beneficial to set aside money for gambling, and that gambling should adhere to that budget. This can go a long way toward protecting against excessive gambling.

budgeting or allocating gambling money is something that is easy in my opinion, but what is difficult in my opinion is sticking to the allocation amount.
The reason is that temptation will always be there and when our weekly or monthly allocation runs out, sometimes there is a temptation which makes us think about increasing the amount of our allocation at the start. This is difficult to do, and commitment to something is difficult to implement well.
-
Whatever you prefer to call it (spare or allocated), should we do it? It's not written in stone that you set a reasonable budget for your leisure activities (including gambling) on a monthly basis but that's still a better practice than an unhinged gambler.
-
I think it's true what was said in another forum, never set an allocation for gambling in my opinion because with an allocation that is applied, the intention to increase the allocation will definitely be there every month, especially if you often experience losses, the level of curiosity will continue and before you realize the expenditure/allocation for gambling greater than basic needs
-
This must be what to do when a gambler is planing to just stop gambling for good. Gradually just allocate small amounts to quit gambling.
The disadvantage of this is that if you still keep losing and if you sum it all, you still lose a large sum. If youre trying to quit just find another hobby to pour your energy.
-

This is where discipline comes in, setting a gamble budget is a way to discipline yourself so that you don't gamble excessively. If you already have a budget, the moment it is exhausted, you don't gamble anymore till it is refilled after being paid. I also have a time limit to enable stop once the time is up. Gamble responsible and control your gambling activities to prevent addiction.
-
It is very must necessary for a gambler to allocate or draw a budget for his gambling activity if not he will end up spending everything in the process of gambling. But he has to remove the amount base on his income. And if he is married then he has to also.plan for all those ones before even removing the budget allocation. But there are some addicted gamblers might not think of all these but he will still plan for the weekly expenses of the house.
-
One key important thing a gambler should always remember is discipline and that is what makes us create limitation especially in gambling which most of us has failed to implement with ourselves. I personally have experienced failing on this before but then I learned about it's importance and that is what I am up right now to limit my loses.
-
Isn't setting the amount to bet part of our financial management? especially in gambling, we really have to have financial management, yes, its function is to manage existing risks. This is to minimize the possibility of risk and increase the level of possibility of gaining profits. And, financial management is also to prevent ourselves from gambling addiction.
Because, if we don't set the funds, we will accidentally spend money again and again without caring how much money we have spent. And this is the danger that can drive and trigger us to become addicted without us realizing it.
-
I think it's okay if you use less than 10% of your income, but it still depends!
It's possible that you don't have the "free cash" after you pay all your debts and bills. In this case, just don't play before you get a better financial position. Gambling isn't for people who don't have spare money.
So the more accurate metric shouldn't be the percentage of your income, but the percentage of your free cash after you pay everything. But yeah, to simplify the calculation just use less than 10% of your income.

We do not have to cast it on stones until we know it is the right thing to do. A gambler only needs to keep it in mind. Furthermore, the allocated amount is determined by the gambler's financial situation and thus varies from gambler to gambler.
Without a budget, a gambler will struggle to keep track of his progress. When a gambler keeps track of his bets on a regular basis, it becomes easier to determine when he is winning and when he is losing, when he should take a break and when he should continue. Most gamblers do not keep track of all of these, but they are important.

However, this can also be a problem for gamblers, because when they look at their gambling journey and see how much they have spent in total, I think it will surprise them.
The reason is that defeat is felt more often than victory, and when they see the total of their losses it will make them not believe in what they have spent. It's optional in my opinion, whether we can see it or not. If not, I think it's better not to.

And I have always recommended never to do that, in fact each game session should be unique, that is, let's suppose that we played yesterday and lost about 30usd, we have to get it out of our heads that we lost that money and avoid the fact that if we play today we have that in our mind and even worse that we try to recover that lost money, because that is one of the most common mistakes in every player and it is normal because it is human logic, but it is something that should not be done, that is why we should restart when we are going to play again or have a new game session, thus we avoid having negative or stress feelings.
-
Sparing money or money not in use will not be a good way to reserve for gambling. Gambling doesn't end until your money ends, so if a person, for example, has $2,000 saved and goes to the casino, they will gamble until they lose all this money because in their mind, all this money they are using for gambling is not in use and will deplete their savings. On the other side, if they set a certain percentage of their money for gambling, they will protect their savings from excessive gambling, and through this method, they will not become addicted to gambling. So, in my situation, I make it a priority to set aside a certain percentage every month so that I don't have to borrow money from other people at the end of the month.

I agree with you that setting a gambling budget help the gamble to keep track on his gambling actives and how much he has lost to gamble. It also helps the gambler from becoming addicted because if he has his gambling budget, he knows when he will stop gambling the moment he has exhausted his budget. It also helps one to be discipline and limit his losses. What I do is that I also set a time limit which enable me to stop gambling when my time elapses no matter if I am winning or losing.

Yeah aside from the gambling budget I like the idea of you talking about putting time limit in our gambling activities as I personally do this with gambling and even video games because I have learned it in the past since the longer we spend time in gambling we lose our bond with our loved ones and we are less productive if we insist.

Well said. The majority of gamblers are unaware of the importance of setting a budget and thus gamble without a budget. Some people continue to gamble until they run out of money. I have been in this situation before, and all I want to do is keep gambling until I win big. Even on days when I win small amounts of money, I continue to gamble and may spend only 20% of the winnings to pay bills. This was because I was not satisfied with the results I was getting from gambling. The most painful aspect of it is that the win will always appear insignificant until I lose it and then regret using the money for gambling because at this point, a lot of things I should have done with the money will keep running through my mind.

I think most gamblers has experience also this kind of thing in the past or even until today and I was once like that who does not have this limitation because I indiscriminately allocate my money whenever I was having the urge to gamble in the past and that left me painful results as sometimes I lost it all or half of it and sacrificing my needs.
-
Of the three option you presented, I chose the 1–5 percent depending on the income strength. I believe this is a safe percentage of your income You're still going to enjoy the game and at the same time not risking your income.
But the biggest question always is: can you stick to that allocation? Because you really never know if you're enjoying it if you exceed your allocation because every session is different from all the other sessions, there are times that you want more than what you can allocate.
-

As I always say, it will all comes to one thing. DISCIPLINE.
One word, but it's very powerful that it can change the life of the gambler depending on how disciplined they are.
A disciplined gambler will not spend their extra money aside from their money that's allocated for gambling only. A disciplined gambler will not use their savings just to recover their losses or to continue gambling. A disciplined gambler will not spend their money that's allocated for more important things. I voted 1-5% because I believe that in my case, that's the total percentage of money that I'm spending on gambling (most of the time, below 5%), and I don't want to spend more on it. I guess I'm lucky that I don't overspend in gambling, and I can control myself especially at times when I needed to stop.
A disciplined gambler will always make better decisions than the one that isn't.

Of course, one should not have any limit for gambling that is if one has all the means to do so and is already addicted to winning without looking at losing. Gambling is all about making money...unfortuantely the real winners are the people behind the operation and not really the bettors. When one is into compulsive gambling, sky is the limit and there are those who are so willing to destroy their finance and even of the people around them just to be able to gamble. You can easily see the destructive nature of man in gambling...and since gambling is now being promoted everywhere and now in many apps in our smartphones I am sure that we are now growing a generation of addicted gamblers.

Having Risk Management towards your gambling habits is important because it will help you eliminate the possibility of losing a lot more. It should be a standard thing, especially when you are gambling.
The idea of having paid all your dues And all of the things that require your money first should go there and then what remains Could be your entertainment money.

In other words, the money that we can use for gambling is money that is not for any needs, or money that we are free to use for anything, including gambling. that way it will be better because we don't have a burden when using the money we have.
Risk management is a basic thing that we must implement, because risk management is something that will probably determine what kind of gambler we will become.

You could be right thu is depends on choice since gambling has been there for long and the addiction stage is still within or below what we expected. The world is changing gradually and no one would be accountable for any damages rather it's their core duty to understand how the world is growing and even as that shouldn't be carried away by any features of the modern technology where a gambler wouldn't take appropriate precautions of themselves to gamble than becoming addicted in the future.

I agree! It all boils down to being disciplined and cool-headed while making any decisions that involve your income. Simple as that.

For a long time now, whenever I play I always have a certain amount of money available to play, within which I am willing to lose, and it's not that I have a loser's mentality, but it's better to do things in moderation, I am a person who, due to the experience I had of playing and losing a lot, both in trading and in gambling, what I was able to extract is that if I put only that amount into a game session and lose it, I will not have any repercussions in my life, and that is already a lot, it means a lot, because apart from losing in the casino and that bringing problems for my life, I think that is too much.

The only certainty in gambling is that you will lose. As a result, a gambler's positive attitude toward a game has no effect on the game's outcome. I agree with you that it is proper to gamble with an amount that a gambler is willing to lose because this is the only way in which a gambler can lose without feeling pain.
One of a gambler's mistakes is gambling beyond his or her means, believing that the outcome of the game is certain, despite the fact that nothing is certain in gambling. The nature of gambling is such that the only way to avoid excessive gambling is to learn the art of moderation, as you mentioned.

I also try to keep a certain amount of money for my bets. Because I know that if I lose that money it will not cause any harm to my family but if I lose more than that it will cause a big problem for me which I never want. I also think about what I will do in case I lose in gambling. How do I place a bet if I lose my bet money? I place bets with these things in mind. Every gambler should keep a certain amount of money in gambling so that they don't become depressed because of it.

Most people who involve themselves with anything financial most not be cool headed though but at least should be very mindful and do adequate investigation on what they are doing. Apparently, gambling is above how we sees it and should be treated with care without being too desperate of winning or make profit. So funds allocation help more better to control ones decision on how they gambling and definitely would reduce and eliminate addiction.

It all matters about sensibility and the responsibility of someone when making up some investment decisions on which we know that it would really be something that will really be relevant
on the moment that you would really be spending money with gambling. Always make use of the amount on which you can afford to lose and never ever make that goes beyond with your
budget because on the time that you are really that goes beyond your limits then it would really be that something will make your life miserable because of too much spending with gambling.
Make yourself responsible and you would be never be able to suffer any consequences.

So funds allocation help more better to control ones decision on how they gambling and definitely would reduce and eliminate addiction.
Thinking about this, Addiction may not actually be eliminated, because of budgeting or strict allocation of funds to gambling. If someone earns weekly and has a budget weekly and in that budget includes gambling, it is also possible that that person may gamble so much and become addicted to gambling because of the weekly allocations to gambling and due to how they earn. If you still budget in gambling, or allocate money to it, you still have to be careful not to enter a situation where you unintentionally start over budgeting for gambling.

This is where personal decisions falls in, you can actually allocates specific fund per week/month but the ability and tendency for you or them to maintain a stable amount is where the problems lays. Let me say for instance, if you allocates like $10 per week to gamble you should be able to maintain this 10$ range till you see that it's not affect your overall lifestyle and your decision to gamble, but if you keep increasing your weekly budget to gamble to 15$ to 30$ it also affect your life because you are not practicing a healthy gambling life style because you can't stood by your words and decisions hence you makes it too vulnerable for yourself to get easily addicted to gambling.

Every gambler should keep a certain amount of money in gambling so that they don't become depressed because of it.
It's good to always have the sidekick, when I learned to play I spent a lot of money and in fact I always came out disappointed with myself because I went in with money and instead of multiplying it I came out very struck out, so that's something that took away my desire for everything, to try to do something well in the casino, it was always the same results, so that's something that disappointed me, maybe that's why I started looking for strategies, many ways to play in order to improve, until now the best strategy is the one I tell you, play only with the money willing to lose.
-
Why not, if we think its something worth considering by us, then we should give a try because it will help us in many ways have some plan towards how we spend money on gambling, we could be able to plan ahead on other things from our budget and still achieve some other targets, allocating a specific amount of money to bet on could also serves as a means through which we can control the way we are gambling in other to avoid addiction or misplace of priorities at the cause of gambling.
-
The more we observe in gambling, the more likely we are to lose. So if the loss can be easily accepted in gambling then there will be no mental pressure in gambling. And that's why every gambler should bet with as much money as he can afford to lose. When a gambler keeps a specific amount of money to bet it means that he sets a limitation on his gambling which can prevent the gambler from losing more.

The only problem with gamblers is that most of us chase our loses for us to be able to compensate those loses we had previously if we will win but that is a mistake because instead of minimizing losses we just made a terrible mistake which will lead us being broke because luck isn't guaranteed everytime we chase unless we're lucky enough.

Pressure is one of the factors that tend to lead a user to make quick decisions without any analysis, which can kill their profits and lead them to face losses. This pressure arises when you are fully dependent on gambling or when you have only the money you have put in the bet. At that time, gamblers want to win the bet quickly to recover that last money with profits, but they end up losing it. Then, they start to recover that loss by borrowing money again and again, which transforms them from winners to losers.

To summary here; whenever you are gambling with spare money if you don't apply cautiousness you would end up altering your savings in the name of gambling with spare cash or money not in use for other important things.
I have to agree with this. The economic situation is no longer funny for one to bring out money they will call as spare money to waste for pleasure without thinking of ways to have it recovered back.
The way money are being spent in the past is no longer the same now. People have a budget plan on how they are going to spend money in their hands so that it can last them up to a month or weeks, depending on how they earn their salaries.
A monthly salary earner who likes to gamble, won't afford not to bring out a budgeted amount to gamble for a week or so.

I will like to see your different opinion on this misconception maybe let us know how to control gambling addiction if by using spare cash can reduce and limits gambling addiction or not.
I strongly agree to your idea that if we don't set a limit on how much we intend to gamble that might jeopardize our savings in the process. For me it is a practical way to set a ceiling on what we gamble and if that will be exhausted then come again another month to try your luck but this is easier said than being done if you are not a responsible gambler.

Yes when cash are careful spent and allocated to gambling it would make them know where there cash is going and if that person spent extravagantly he would have to wait till the week or month runs out to have his allocation back to gamble.
Currently the economic situation now everyone needs to accounts on how much they are spending or wasting or even risking out to gamble.

You are right this is easy to say but not easy to do, because the situation felt when gambling will be different, and we may lose self-awareness so that we cross the limits that we have set at the beginning. emotions are usually what can make things like this happen.

I agree with you about the dangers of excessive gambling. Aside from gambling, doing too much of anything is bad, which is why moderation is always encouraged in human life. Moderation is also important in gambling because it protects against problematic gambling or addiction.
Moderation should be based on the gambler's financial situation and the principle of gambling only what you can afford to lose. This means that gambler A's moderation may not be gambler B's. As a result, a gambler should not place a bet based on what he sees online or what his friend places.
-
It is more proper as well as being professional that we stipulated a particular amount of money on gambling, this will help us to have a target about how much we are to spend gambling and we wont be able to go beyond that limit we have already set on ground, it may not come as easy as thought but we have to make every necessary efforts on making things work our for us in situations like this.

Everyone has their choice of gambling and can gamble to whatever that pleases them and thus could be the level of their risk factor even though they want to imitate and emulate others let it be that they have the ability and capacity to bear the risk the are trying emulates from. Gambling from what they sees online is another way of becoming a reckless gambler because they aren't gambling on their decisions rather gambling from what others are doing online making them not having their personal decisions.

That is, if you have spare money that you can use for gambling. If you don't have any, don't gamble at all.
Getting addicted in gambling is hard and if you get addicted, you will spend money way beyond your supposed amount that you must be spending on it. There are some gamblers out there that for some reasons, they are going beyond their supposed budget. Maybe it's because they don't want to end up losing money hence, they're trying to recover it, or they want more profit that they're willing to spend more if needed. At the end of the day, setting a limit is important, but not all gamblers can follow that as well.

I believe that in life there are always limits that we should not cross, even though it is something positive, but if we do it excessively then it will have a negative impact.
We must know what our limits are and we must be able to commit to implementing them in our lives, do not let us regret something that we think is big but it turns out to bring something negative. The one who can recognize ourselves is ourselves, so know ourselves very well.

Well, that's typical middle-class person would do and we budget our expenses and I am sure we allocate something for entertainment too like going on trips/movies or even restuarant once in a week and that's how we can spend on what we want so if we don't have extra cash then we need to compromise on something just to gamble which is completely okay as along as you know your limits.

Majority of gamblers knows how to keep safe bmfrom addiction but the problem is that they find it difficult to practice because along the line their mindset whenever they are gambling is to make profit and that will overshadow the mindset of gambling responsible believing that they are discipline and will not get addicted. It is good that whenever you want to gamble or when gambling you always practice a healthy gambling life by not being carried away by the game when winning or losing.

Well, whenever we start looking at a casino, I am in favor of having a balance that I am willing to lose, to control everything I have, both money and emotions. When the money Runs out, everything ends, including emotions and impulses. Not only for middle or lower class people. I think it is necessary for everyone to be clear about this. When we are doing anything that has to do with money , we must always be in control, not let the game or the Activity Control us.
-
We are to distance ourself away from anything that might caused us to lose of money due to some kind of negligence from the way we act or behave, while gambling, we need to have set a limit right from time to ensure we don't go beyond the target we already aimed at, if we don't make allocation on the amount of money to be used on the purpose of gambling, then we are definitely going to go beyond our budget and be surprised.
-
I always limit my bets and my deposits whenever i gamble. I only used spare of my funds, no specific amounts and no percentage, just spare of it, if i think i have much then i'll add. So far, i maintained this behaviour and didn't got any trouble yet or probably this is the best thing people should.

Exactly, gambling with spare cash different from your main savings is very important and what every gambler should normalise, as a gambler one of the trait that's required is self discipline, it's highly required in terms of spending so one don't go spending recklessly all I'm the name of gambling, setting limits is very important cause it would a gambler know when to stop and not tamper with their savings when they've exceeded their initial budget for the day or week. Every gamble needs to maintain gambling responsibly and if they follow the steps you've mentioned then they'll be good to go.

For conducting responsible gambling a gambler needs to set limit which will help the gamblers preventing potential losses. A gambler when set a limitation with his gambling he can get the idea when he has to stop. By following this strategy he will understand how much risk he should take and protect him self financially which will help to keep his gambling well and help him to enjoy gambling. Along with that gamblers addictive behaviors will also be removed. After all a gambler will assist in managing good gambling activity.

You are right. I think every gambler should keep his allotment within an objective boundary as he may become over-emotional as a result of constant losing or winning. Gambling can become addictive if you can't limit yourself, so you should be more careful in allocating money and time accordingly. Allocate gambling from your disposable income and accordingly engage in recreational gambling only, otherwise the risk of financial loss as well as social harm increases.

It's wise to deposit the amount that you are afford to lose only. If you push it hard after losing a bet and losing certain amount then you will lose more and feel stressed. I only gamble occasionally, I don't chase loss. Very rare time I win but almost all the time I log out after losing my deposit and forget everything for anther long time.
Premier league is starting from this weekend, perhaps I will try to entertain myself again for a few days until I ran out of the deposit I will make.

I completely agree. Pressure and emotions can be bad mix when trading or gambling. When people really need to win they mostly make quick decisions without thinking it through. This can lead to big losses. Then they try to win back their losses by borrowing more money which can turn good situation into a financial disaster. It is crucial to stay calm set achievable goals and be smart about risk to avoid this trap. By doing this people can make wise choices and avoid financial ruin.

Every gambler should avoid making hasty decisions. If a gambler makes a snap decision during a gambling session, he may be unable to dictate and avoid certain obvious risks because his level of concentration and rationality at the time is so low. This will result in unnecessary loss.

That is true and we should be wise and recise when making decisions with gambling because things will just go fast. Busgetting was really one of the most difficult thing to decide because sometimes when greed strikes we're not even gonna realize we already place bets more than we can afford to lose so yeah we must be careful.

f course. You should set aside a disposable limited budget while gambling because if you continue to indulge in gambling without restraint, you will get addicted and you will definitely end up suffering huge financial losses. Yes you may be a bit upset with your losing streak but you should not push yourself beyond your means.

Only a gambler that tries to be deceptive about his own self will try to gamble with hasty decision because you know that any money that you have gamble, that money is forgone unless you are lucky to make it back probably in that roll or in another set. A gambler must be responsible in all his decisions right from money wager and stake, the bankroll, the money won and most important aspect when you have loss money many times.
Another mistake some gamblers does is that many of them don't have a specific amount they bets on, they can have a large amount on their bank account and then use that to gamble without thinking twice about the repercussion that will come later.

At least they know when to stop and when to play. It can be seen from the money they have (don't force yourself to use money for other purposes), mental condition (because usually that also has a big influence) and so on.
The little things that are often missed are sometimes the most important, but because they are considered ordinary, they are missed more often. And also, don't just make it knowledge, but it must be practiced.

It is difficult to apply sometimes, especially if the game is challenging, sometimes it can make you forget yourself, where the level of curiosity and greed become one to make you forget yourself
I would like to do it, because no matter how challenging the game is, we as players in a casino if we do not have money we cannot access the benefit and that is even sadder if we spend it all in a game session, as I am more emotional, I always take that as a precaution, setting a balance willing to lose, for the rest I give myself over to the game, the coins and the impulses, for that reason I always try to determine my balance willing to lose.

There is interest, there is curiosity and there is a desire to win something, that is what makes our emotions grow and we forget something that should not be done, but without realizing it we continue to do it.
This is also one of the reasons why when we gamble there is at least someone who knows. Because if there is someone who knows it will be able to help us to realize when we are out of control.

I will like to see your different opinion on this misconception maybe let us know how to control gambling addiction if by using spare cash can reduce and limits gambling addiction or not.
Yes gambling has a fixed budget and it is very important that that budget is within your means. Because when someone gambles and loses gambling, he keeps depositing more and more to recover his losses until he has money. thus eventually he will lose all his money. so keeping a stable and strong budget is very important to protect yourself from gambling addiction.
When one loses money and deposits more to recover earlier losses he does not realize his loss but when he loses everything he only regrets.

That is true though but sincere I don't encourage that because if one keeps doing that he would ends up losing more and More but if there are specific allocation for gambling then he would be fine maybe when the allocation has been exhausted there no way more to go make any additions deposit from their personal pocket to make deposit.
So, to me it would be better to have fix amount allocated to gamble otherwise it would affect the gambler overall life style.

When gambling, it it good one makes a budget plan that they could rely on while gambling and should not exceed their limits when they have exhausted their budget funds earmarked for their exercise. This is where discipline comes in as a gambler. Sticking to your gambling plan and not allowing the situation overwhelm you at any given stances. With a budget, one can be able to control their emotions and feelings to not allow them them gamble excess above their budget.

I agree with you. One of the most important ways for a gambler to avoid the temptation to gamble more than necessary is to set a budget and stick to it strictly. Setting a budget is also important when a gambler is successful. Some gamblers believe that when they are winning, it is the best time to increase their stake, but I disagree because he cannot win all the time, and increasing his stake will cause him to lose his profit and even his capital in the blink of an eye. So, whether a gambler wins or loses, there is a need for control, which can only be achieved by setting and sticking to a budget.

This is when greediness starts to kick on. When people start to experience excitement and it becomes too much, hype on, and thinks, "oh maybe i win this much after this bet?". Those who doesn't have controls often falls for it, snd become addiction.

This is when greediness starts to kick on. When people start to experience excitement and it becomes too much, hype on, and thinks, "oh maybe i win this much after this bet?". Those who doesn't have controls often falls for it, snd become addiction.
Well said, which is why gamblers should make every effort to control their greed. Greed is inherent in humans, and the desire for wealth makes it even more difficult to control greed, which is why controlling greed requires extra effort. I would like to point out that some gamblers' actions are motivated by greed, which is also responsible for their losses.
Gambling with greed has never produced positive results for a gambler in the long run. Let it be noted that a gambler with greed may be fortunate to win, but if he fails to control his greed, the funds won will undoubtedly be lost and as you have mentioned can become a road map for gambling addiction.

I believe only self discipline can control greed. When a gambler sets his or her gambling boundaries or limit a.k.a budget and work in accordance with it without being carried away by their emotions as a result of the outcome of their results irrespective of what it is, they can be able to overcome the greedy nature in them while gambling.
Although it is natural that humans are insatiable and would want to accrue more and more to satisfy their needs and have more in abundance but it takes self control to be able to put oneself on check to avoid being overwhelmed by their actions.

In order to be a moderate or a good gambler, budgeting is absolutely necessary, else, you are at the risk of being addicted or spending unnecessarily. And for you to be able to budget successfully for gambling, you also need to define the purpose of gambling.
- Are you gambling to be suddenly rich?
- Are you gambling for fun?
- Are you gambling to be able to buy weekend groceries?
Your purpose of gambling will largely affect how much you will invest in gambling weekly or monthly. Also your risk taking ability has a big role to play.

True. But for irresponsible gamblers they still insist to gamble even things are not in a good condition or regardless of those factors you just listed above they will still give it a shot no matter what happens and we all know there is not only one victims on this but many. Mindset and discipline plays an important role on this to be able to resist the urge and put limita to lessen the chances of losing huge amount of money.

Your points are right here. I have come to realise that most gamblers fail to make a budget for their gambling and this affect their gambling lifestyle and in some cases, they tend to gamble with a probability mindset of winning or not winning and when it is the unfavourable odd, they gamble to recover their lost funds by so doing they chase their losses and in so doing they keep the circle going on and on and also recording losses upon losses

I have always been an advocate of setting an amount of money willing to lose in each gaming session, in fact not only in gambling but in trading, therefore those who do so should only have the discipline not to waste more money if lost, at the moment you lose , you should assume such a thing and move on, maybe play another day or in another gaming session , but I recommend not playing immediately after, that's what it's all about, that's why even to play in a casino with this technique you must have a lot of discipline.

I think people should alot a specific amount of money on bet. When people allocate a specific amount of money on bet and follow it strictly then there will be self control and discipline, it will also mitigate reckless staking.
When you say spare cash should be used for gambling, you are simply saying people with out spare cash shouldn't gamble. How many people have spare cash?
