Hey guys... The crypto community is one place you can easily make online friends and share ideas and I have made quite a few myself since I began my journey... It goes without saying that, networking is an asset.
As an introvert, I kinda like being behind the scene and having less human interaction but even so I tend to talk alot about specific topics like crypto even if I am talking to someone I met for the first time. Probably it has to do with the fact that not so many people have an idea about it around me.
I recently saw meetup event where people could meet and network. I haven't been to one actually but I'm contemplating...
Are crypto meetups worth the while? Have you being to one?
-
I have been to a few myself, and I can tell you that it depends on the size and what you are going there for. If you actually do have something that you can make money from, and you are going there to make a sale, there is a possibility that you could make some money there. It could be a project, it could be a website, it could be an affiliate marketing thing, it could be a software, anything really, as long as you make a sale. But if not, and you are just going there not knowing what you are going to do and just walking around, then you may meet a few cool people but that's it, nothing else will happen.

I've been to one here in my country, and to be honest with you, I regretted going there since it wasn't really worth it for me, most painful part is that the meetup was held in a very far place from where I stay, I spent quite a huge sum of money to transport myself and a friend of mine to the place, but at the end of it, aside from the fact that we did meet alot of new faces there, the rest of the event wasn't really worth my being there, this was way back 2021 if I still remember well, and since then, I've not been to any crypto meetup again.
But also understood that this is just my personal experience, and my own experience isn't a prerequisite for yours, you may try, and your experience will be greatly better than mine.
And besides, I will love to attend another meetup, but that will be when I decide I am ready, and also must check the organizers to be sure they are very serious people, and not some play boys like the ones that organized the meetup I am talking about here.

But what is your aim of talking to someone about cryptocurrencies when you are just meeting them in the first place? Are you doing crypto marketing or running a physical Crypto ADs?
It does not seem good that way Instead talk to people that are closer to you then you can always share ideals and discuss about the technology in a positive deliberation if either you are trying to convince them to adopt the digital currency or you are both storming on how to embrace the industry together. Discussions like this can not happen between you and one who you must meet in that moment because they are certainly strangers in that moment.
Think about the risk too, can get yourself endangered because you could actually say what you are not meant to knowing that peoples minds can not be determined of what they holds against you.

If you're a speaker - yeah.
If you're a business owner - of course. You can capture new clients that way.
If you are a developer and you have a service you just made: That's where you can find potential users and tell everyone about your tool.
For the rest of us, it's just vibing and having a good time.

I've been into some and for me, it depends on who's the organizer. There are some organizer that are really conversational and friendly but some are not. And that's why for me, it's important to know the organizers and research for some feed backs from the past meetups that they've organized.

For some people, it can be something that will have a positive impact on their business because they will promote their projects and get to know potential investors - for an ordinary visitor, it is just an opportunity to see some people who are famous in the crypto world and maybe get a chance to ask them some question.
What I noticed is that most of these meetings are about DeFi, altcoins and the like, and honestly I'm not really interested in that. In addition, the price of tickets is generally very high.
I would like to go to one of the well-known meetings that focus on BTC, and as far as I can see, for those who are in Europe, there is a good opportunity for just such a thing in Amsterdam -> https://b.tc/conference/amsterdam

As crypto enthusiasts it's essential we meet people with same goal and interest to communicate and share ideas. The next person talking to you might be your problem solver, or even give you a clue that will lighten up your crypto enthusiasm with great profit. I have joined several crypto meeting on twitter X and I must say it was amazing you should try it out, you'll definitely learn from one of those meetings. And the most interesting part is, you can also share your opinion or ask questions and you'll receive answers there at the live meeting.

Haven't been in one and most likely will not attend as well. Not sure but the aim of you being in crypto is to be anonymous as you can. And so if you surface with this meetups, for sure everything that you try to protect in years with your identity and what not, will be uncovered.
There could be advantage for us, specially networking and meeting others, but I'm not that kind of person though. And besides, maybe all the info and knowledge that will be shared could be absorb in a community like this or the other forum.

I totally get it, I was hesitant to attend my first crypto meetup too! But I'm glad I took the leap - I ended up having a blast! I met people who shared my interests and even got to connect with some industry leaders. It was a great experience that taught me the value of stepping out of my comfort zone. I think you should give it a try too, you never know who you might meet and what opportunities might arise!

Maybe if I had a lot of money, I wouldn't go to the crypto event because it's very dangerous especially here in our Country. Because many people think that when you do crypto, you make a lot of money, so this method is not really good. Maybe because others are just taking your personal identity and if they find out that you have a lot of money, they will victimize you. Other than that, it's worth it to join because the people you meet are doing crypto, you'll be really amazed.

I took my time to read through what you have said and what others have to say as well and while there should be reasons for anything we do, we should not also fail to admit and respect our choices, ask yourself first what you want to achieve bring in this space and how you would achieve it. If it requires that you attend those events, then look for how you can still achieve your goals by attending the event with a proper mindset and goal not just attending because you see people say they attend or they set up an event.
Also never underestimate crypto events, ever since the inception of cryptocurrency, different agencies never stop making themselves known through marketing and offering knowledgeable and rewarding events to different communities mostly to increase adoption while rendering services, so ask yourself what they have to offer if you attend. I have attended Bitget meet up only once after I have missed several events by Binance for example and I can say I got to connect and learn more things along side receiving merch.
Some might not like to be seen in public like some have said, then that will mean you should look for online events if you are after knowledge. There could be incentive for you, but it still can't be like a physical meet up. So I'd say what are your goals in crypto space and what do you want to achieve?

Having connections with the right people can indeed benefit you but some people choose to be with themselves only and in some cases it must be better because you should consider your safety and as well as your ideas around the people you will meet

i think it is nice to have some people to share the same interests and people you can turn in to for advices and you can meet them through events like this but it is always best if you do not let your guards down too quickly
i am not saying you should avoid the event but proceed with caution

Yeah, be careful when you go to those meetings. The last thing you want is to get robbed because someone found you at a meeting and figured out where you live. And I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone. So anyways be prepared.

It heavily depends on what you expect and the meetup itself. Personally i would stay away from meetup with focus on making profit or invest on stuff with many buzzwords, which is what many meetup these days does.
-
Just like others have said, crypto meetups are good when you are going there for business to seek your product or advertise your service that is when you will benefit a lot from it. Apart from that, it is like going to a seminar where you meet different people and socialize with few and learn few things. I have not gone to any because I keep my crypto life secret from people only if I trust you.
-
I personally haven't been in that kinda activity ever since and I am also interested to join if there's one here in my place but I haven't heard of such meetups here. I only attended pyramiding schemes before but not crypto because I know only few of us knew it and I don't know if there will be people from other regions who will initiate such activities but I know there are a lot who are interested here as well since the introduction of NFT games has already reached here in my area and I expect a lot would be curious about it.

I have been a member of a crypto meet-up community, but it was sponsored by a casino this was a sporty bet site that accepts cryptocurrencies as deposits and even withdrawals, I think that casino even has an ANN thread on bitcointalk with a long-running campaign.
The last time there was a meet-up, a popular footballer in my country was the host and he shared a lot of free raffles and bonuses into the winner's accounts via crypto
-
Its an opportunity to every interesting users to meet up with those they have been aspiring to see as well as a channel through which they can clear all their doubts and ask on every necessary questions needed from them, they will even have the opportunity of seeing those developers, attends their seminar and meet them in person, some will prefer making some clarifications in person than on proxy about crypto and will wait to see opportunities like this on crypto meetups.

If you are an introvert then you will find it difficult to leave your comfort zone and go to a meetup but I say to not be an introvert anymore you must go there and you won't be making friends there because that's not why these meetups are. People are there to take advantage of each other's skills for money. In other words, they find what's good for their projects, and then they make some offers. If it's a friendly meetup then go and share your crypto life experience.
If you could make some friends there then it's a successful journey for you otherwise how bad it can go. You will learn new experiences for example how to talk with professionals with confidence and how much knowledge you lack in compared to other people in the meetups.

Crypto meetups are no doubt good for all crypto enthusiasts. There, you could make new friends, advertise your products and services, and share ideas with other crypto fellows within and outside your location. People learn from other people's experiences and gain more knowledge. But however, most or some people see it as a business gathering and, as such, are looking for someone who fits into their list and categories so they could get in and absorb or accommodate them for business in their own favor. At this point one needs to be very smart to know what to do and present themselves because it would be business for them. Either your expertise for a fee or your expertise for a good partnership deal. That is how it likely goes sometimes.

No, but I would love to if there's any that will be happening near to my place.
Nowadays, crypto meetups are more like seminars, and these seminars often are paid ones. Yes, you will meet new crypto enthusiasts but at the end of the day, the contents or the lessons that these people will share to you are something that you will fell that it isn't worth it at all. If you're an extrovert maybe you will think that talking with other people that are into crypto is far more important than the seminar or meetup itself.
As an introvert, I would love to try TBH, but there's none that's happening right now. I don't want to spend too much money on it especially I will go in a place where there's a lot of people.

Usually I try to avoid them, or when I attend them, I try not to give a lot of information about cryptocurrencies or the details of my information, but I have attended some of them on my travels.
It is good and depends on the speakers, although some of them are a bad place to get useful information.
-
It's good to have peers because of this actually, no need to be paranoid, just be lowkey, don't share confidential info that you have this and that because you will probably be at risks for those who have bad motives.

Crypto meet up is a great forum to learn, share and interact with the crypto community members on certain areas of the Ecosystem that you may want to specialize. There are many areas on the blockchain, that may require informations or more knowledge that could bring you to a crypto Meet up. Again, on such meet up, there could gain trading knowledge ( TA/FA), Mining, ICO/IEO experience, and others area that oyou may learn.
In a nutshell, crypto meet up has huge advantages if you have areas on the ecosystem that requires more informations or additional knowledge.

Sometimes meet-ups can be a kind of risky engagement because, as a crypto enthusiast, you would need to safeguard your information first because you have no idea the motive of the organizers of the event, you have no idea the people you are going to meet at the event, and sometimes the government might have agents there to watch and possibly take a live camera recording, which you have no idea of. These are the reasons why some people do not bother going for crypto gatherings for their safety. People who go for this function sometimes take extra caution just as you have said to not reveal any information or detail about themselves or whatever information they have for development. This is very important because you would need to safeguard your idea before another takes it and somehow turns it the other way round to something similar to your idea so that you do not come after them.

Just yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with a person who is in a community where you are paid for membership where you are informed when the money will be doubled or even go to x10 in a very short time, the profits are big. In question were bank accounts from her where she will pay me money if I send her coins of such value. I think it's useful.
