tl;dr
- September 4th is the expected mainnet date for the MATIC → POL upgrade
- As the upgrade to MATIC, in the initial phase, POL will become the gas and staking token of Polygon PoS
- In subsequent phases, the community can decide to expand the utility of POL to serve a crucial role in the AggLayer
- Holders of MATIC on Polygon PoS won’t have to take any action
- Holders of MATIC on Ethereum, Polygon zkEVM and in CEXes may have to migrate (see below and look for communications from third parties)
- MATIC stakers and delegators on Ethereum do not need to take action
- A testnet migration went live on July 17th

Currently the testnet stage is underway. Since one of the fundamental differences after migration is the coin ticker, you will have to change your RPC settings on your EVM wallet. If you are a non-holder of onchain MATIC, especially storing on another network, you better read the full article.

Have you got any info about the new RPC for the new Polygon? I saw it's not there on Citlink yet

This Matic's good vision is because it changed its name to POL, Dev seems to want to be closer to the pronunciation of Polygon so that the abbreviation of POL is Polygon. For me, the name of a coin is free as long as it does not affect the performance of the coin. But unfortunately, for me it is more comfortable to say Matic than to say POL because as far as I remember it reminds me of a car whose gears are Auto Matic or Matic transmitions.

Yes i also saw Matic named POL. It has been changed today. I think now it will be more popular. Because POL is related name of polygon. I think it named related polygon name. Now it will be more easier for people. POL and polygon likely similar. Polygon matic is my favourite coin. I am a investor of this coin. I think future bull session i will get huge benefit from polygon coin.

I don't know, this whole update looks weird.
Changing the network *again*? Didn't they have an upgrade like this last time? So it's pretty annoying to have to worry about not being able to use your MATIC while these sort of migrations are happening.
Anyhow, I don't want to worry about this, so I just liquidated all of my MATIC. It was only ever useful for Coinbase commerce anyway.

If I see the Announcement, it is only a change of name symbol from MATIC to POL, I do not understand whether this change of MATIC name also changes the network to POL? Or should it be that if the name of MATIC is changed to POL, the network should also be changed? What is the usual way and method of changing the network?

I read this news, but in Coin Market Cap, it's still Matic. So is it on Binance and several other exchanges. Are there any changes or was it just testing yesterday? Or hasn't it started yet?
But it is indeed closer to the name POL than Matic. It's just that we need to get used to it more. And, isn't that the name becoming more like SOL? haha
Anyway, I'm enjoying my portfolio in Matic which is really free-falling and seems limitless. Is there anyone still holding? ;D

They are running out of ideas!
We are in a stagnation period, the coin is the worst performer so how about we make some stupid changes that bring absolutely no advantage just to annoy actual on-chain users and drop further, making them one of two coins (the other being dot) with all red over every single timeframe, 1w,1w,1y and yoy.

Ticker of MATIC still on the line on Binance , i think not started for changing to POL.

Anyway, the most important thing is that Polygon is set for more big growth ahead and be the hub of innovations in the cryptocurrency market for all to experience. Honestly, I am not holding MATIC or POL yet but I am considering joining its community of supporters and holders.

Now the Polygon ticker is still Matic, it's just that it's still in process. There has been a notification on my local exchange that the change or swap from Matic to POL will occur in the next few days. So, let's see if this name change will be good news and help Matic to rise in price again soon. Because the price of Matic has dropped so much, it even seems like there is no hope anymore. It's just that, we believe in the development capabilities of that team, so it is better to see the results of their team development. Agree. It looks more suitable ticker. POL is identical to the name 'POLygon'. I don't know why the ticker was MATIC. :D
Since it is already changed to POL, we won't be wonder anymore. It is a good decision made by Polygon team. Even if MATIC is popular already, they change it with a proper ticker.
However, it looks to have no significant impact to the price. Now, we are waiting for an innovation made by Polygon team. I hope Polygon to make interesting program for POL holders.
Anyway, why you don't try to buy POL now? You shouldn't only support it, but you need to have it as well. :)

I was expecting a good move after the migration but due to the market pressure still we on the same level, Matic is really testing the patience level of the investors, Haha there was a time when it was the Hot potato and all L2 of ETH were exploding now I'm not sure how it's gonna behave throughout the entire bull market of this cycle. Are we still chasing a new ATH ?
I'm not sure Previously i was pretty confident about it but for now, I cant say anything because it's in a stalemate condition for now.
