Title: Adoption of crypto in football. Your thoughts..
Post by: Smcchamp on July 30, 2024, 05:24:23 PM

I saw someone ask if the cryptocurrency craze would take over the world of football and sports. I replied that it won’t be about taking over, but rather about crypto adoption, which is already happening. We’re seeing fan tokens like INTER, GAL, CITY, and JUVE, which have a direct connection with football clubs thanks to the Chiliz chain.

For instance, Bitget has partnered with Messi, and their recent collaboration with the Polish club Stal Mielec is notable. BingX is sponsoring Chelsea, Binance has Ronaldo as a partner, Crypto.com is affiliated with PSG, and Binance is featured on Lazio's shirts and lots nore. These examples show how the two worlds are coming together.

What do you think about the adoption of cryptocurrency in football?

Football has gone from being just a sport to the best way to advertise, and even some countries like Rwanda have visit Rwanda in Arsenal Football Club, and airlines, gambling companies and other services target the popularity of this sport, so it is not strange to find cryptocurrency ads.

Tokens for many clubs exist for some time but they only exist for speculation and market manipulation.
This is not going to increase adoption of crypto if people dont use this tokens and bitcoin all the time in everyday life.
I think this football tokens are working more like stocks with value that drops or increases with connected events.

Earlier, Binance also entered into a collaboration with the famous Cristiano Ronaldo too and via this collaboration; Binance, and Ronaldo will engage in various projects, which include creating awareness, social media promotions, and fundraising. Ronaldo will also get part of his payments in cryptocurrency which shows his endorsement of the crypto sector.

This link-up is one of the first in the steadily emerging fields of sports, entertainment, and cryptocurrency. It underlines the growing interest in cryptocurrencies as well as the opportunities opened by the blockchain in numerous spheres.

Without a doubt, Ronaldo’s collaboration with Binance is likely to make people aware of the advantages as well as the availability of engaging with cryptocurrencies, thus encouraging the fans and followers of the football star to venture into this relatively young market. Since he is a global recognized personality and is also an influential figure he will go a long way in promoting the use of cryptocurrencies in all parts of the world

Yeah. I mentioned that earlier.. Bg made similar collaboration with Messi two years ago. And now they've partnered with another Polish side. I like how these exchanges take advantage of opportunities..

What's your take on club tokens Dr? I'm thinking of holding some. Since the season is about to begin. I miss football though ahah.

It's more on the advertisements, football games especially the big one gather thousands of users obviously because of its huge indoor/outdoor dooms, thus showing advertisements there will be a great value for the money. Talking about adoption, it should be acceptance of crypto for donations and payment for tickets/entrance fee.

Some of the additional benefits are only really felt if you are a wealthy fan, I mean a large holder. I traded some fan tokens when they first listed, but have no interest in holding any.
Another application, I read some news about athletes being paid for crypto, I don’t really follow the updates.

Earlier, Binance also entered into a collaboration with the famous Cristiano Ronaldo too and via this collaboration; Binance, and Ronaldo will engage in various projects, which include creating awareness, social media promotions, and fundraising.
There is a phenomenal case about their collaboration story, Cristiano Ronaldo faces $1bn lawsuit over Binance ads. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-67566602

Football stars do have crypto companies sponsoring them. In the past years, sportsbet.io and crypto.com have been in the shirts they wear.  I just can't see fan tokens going to make a success in making people invest or use to bet on sports bookies.

I used to hold some in the past and I can say that most of them are just pump & dump token. You can't really contribute anything for the club, maybe voting for a change of slogan or which kit is better for advertisement on the stadium, but that's it. There's no valuable usage for those tokens. Even if you're here for speculation, I doubt it's going to be that different from holding meme tokens or something similar. So yeah, I'd rather avoid them.

What do you think about the adoption of cryptocurrency in football?
it’s not really that surprising anymore imo football and a lot of other sports for that matter are haven for sponsors and generating profit so it is in these sports you’d usually see any up and coming businesses in a lot of different fields even cryptocurrency

i have lost count of exchanges sponsoring teams in all kinds of sports so i knew it was only a matter of time before sports teams themselves dive into making their own tokens

football specifically is one of the most famous and most watched sports in all different countries so this kind of exposure is good and it allows people to get used to crypto in a way

What do you think about the adoption of cryptocurrency in football?

With the popularity of Cryptocurrency its bound to happen in any industry and community, and its only a matter of time before many sports organizations adopt it, its a win win situation for both industries as both will benefit from the technology of blockchain and the popularity of cryptocurrency.

Since football is the most popular sport on the planet, it will have a ripple effect on other sports industries.

Since we are already having the use and acceptance of bitcoin by many reputable world standard organizations and institutions, it will not be a bad idea if we also see more use of this same digital currency in sporting activities as we may have it on football as being suggested, though this might not be a strange thing to do because some might already have been doing it before now, but we can also have an increasing number of bitcoin uses in the football sector as cryptocurrency.

Millions watch these matches and the logo of the company or service will definitely be engraved in their minds and when they try to take a vacation or invest in cryptocurrencies, their brain will be more willing to accept services advertised in the English Premier League or on club shirts.

Well first of all, I'll clearly point out the fact that I'm not a fan of altcoins or any coin that's not bitcoin and I don't plan to hold any now or in the future due to its high risk, but I'll offer my thoughts on the particular subject matter ( club tokens).
Club tokens can actually be an exciting investment for some, especially now that the new season is about to begin, holding club tokens can help the fans of the club to have more engagement with their various team, as well as to create to create a sense of ownership. Inasmuch as this type of investment can actually be an exciting one, one shouldn't forget that there are potential risks because these tokens can sometimes be more volatile than some other tokens because the token can be influenced by the club's performance, amongst other factors.

That being said, if your club's performance is poor this season, there's every tendancy that the club's token price would be affected too and so will your investment, so I'm not gonna say hold or don't hold, it's absolutely your choice mate, but what I'll say is, before you invest or hold, you need to conduct an extensive research on the team's tokenomics, also evaluate other important things about the club, like their performance andfinancial stability. Perhaps these will make you make more informed choices.

In my opinion, football is primarily a sport, and cryptocurrency is more of a business. But sports make a lot of money, especially football, so here sports are intertwined with business. And in business, various marketing tools are used to achieve the goal. As a tool, cryptocurrency in football is used to monetize this or that club, and fan tokens that have appeared and will appear help this. We live in a world where everything is intertwined - business, sports, advertising, famous people, politics, etc. Cryptocurrency is so popular that it doesn't exist in isolation from all of that either, so it's okay to have a mix of one and the other.

I see all this crypto name branding on football club jerseys as a form of marketing strategy to gain more exposure to the whole wide world since football matches are watched across the globe.

For exchanges like Bigx, it will be an idea to spread awareness of crypto projects or exchanges in that area because football is a welcome, entertaining sport that the old and the young can watch. They don't know who they will be reaching out to who needs the offer and services of their project

The adaption of crypto into football is a nice one profitable one for the two parties involved as it will go along way in promoting crypto currency as football is a means of advertisment because football is the most followed sports today, so if sporting men and women can get involved in crypto market it will give a right image to crypto and make those still contemplating on joining the crypt family . This partnership is also going to be good for football as it will bring money to the various clubs and various sports ambassador's that different crypto companies have partnered with, this is a mutually beneficial relationship that football and crypto currency has started and I just pray it last for long

Adopting crypto in football is one good way to advertise and offer fans new ways to interact and fresh ways for clubs to engage and fund their projects, adding a whole new level of loyalty and engagement for the fans.

What do you think about the adoption of cryptocurrency in football?
Some crypto casinos are already sponsors of football teams.

It will not come as a surprise to me at some point if we hear about payment to some of the football players being paid with crypto. When crypto gains widespread acceptance and big businesses and sectors begin the adoption of crypto, football will not be left out.

The only challenge in seeing the possibility of this coming to reality is by having a club or team to start with making payments in bitcoin, others will follow, as a matter of facts, some might have been paying already in crypto or maybe some of their players being high holders of crypto and they will be glad in seeing that this same thing come to be if they are being paid in it.

So many crypto firms have entered into partnerships with sport teams, not even only football club. I believe the latest was the partnership between the warriors and Coinbase, with the exchange officially becoming their cryptocurrency platform partner, replacing the collapsed exchange, ftx.
