Where and how can you find new coins before they go to the exchange?
you would usually find them in forums such as this one i also tend to find new and often viral coins on social media platforms such as X
What criteria should you use to choose coins to buy?
usually i go for a project with clear objectives and a genuinely good and strong community i check out the project’s social media accounts and websites to check whether they are legit or a scam

You can find them on X because that is where majority of these new dev advertise their coins and if you want airdrops, you can check on telegram as there are a lot of bounties on telegram but not all new coins will survive in the market so you should not waste your money on them thinking that they will grow in value like bitcoin. It is 50/50 chance of making profit, some of the when listed on the exchange will depreciate in value. Do your own research before investing in any project.

Don't despair because you can easily find them on twitter. But definitely follow some top exchanges on their own twitter media. Then you will easily get information about new coins. Moreover most of the good projects spend money on advertising through various social media. But i will tell you to refrain from new coins for now and buy old coins and hold. At this time most of the new coins are dropping in value after listing on the exchange.

If you want to know new project/coin that is trending, you should follow some of the crypto influencers, they mostly discuss the new projects among their followers but you have to be smart about the coins they discussed with you else you will be used to shill a coin and cashout as an exit liquidity, they do this most of the time.
You can also check on coingecko, enter their search bar you will see new coins on that bar. Some coins don't get centralized from exchange listing before they are listed there, some are just decentralized exchanges and if you are lucky to buy before CEX listing and has potential, you will make money from such coin. Some coins are even listed on coingecko without listing on any exchanges.

You can find new coin and token on social media but the probability of it being a genuine one is what I can not guarantee you. Everyday there are lots of projects springing forth on social media and some you don't know the team behind them and some just launch like that without any details to them. One just needs to be extremely careful and cautious about it. However, you can check the altcoin section of this platform to see for yourself, coinmarketcap for new listings and launchpad to see for yourself new projects and tokens that you can do your own personal research on before thinking of investing in them. Also, big exchanges do launchpad as well. You can their innovative zone or new listings to see for yourself better. This is what I can say for now. What you just have to do is to be cautious about your investment so you don't get scammed

Coingecko and Coinmarketcap are the two websites where I find new coins. Here the links:
https://www.coingecko.com/en/new-cryptocurrencies
https://coinmarketcap.com/new/
Criteria? For new coins? I would always suggest to not buy them at the time they just launched because more often, the price of a new project plummet as soon as it launches because many token holders who have it will sell it immediately to take profit especially those who got it for free. Although there are some who are increasing after it got launched, most of them aren't.
I would recommend to just focus on top coins rather than these new projects unless you're an expert or you've been investing into crypto for a very long time then you can try.

Yes inam also agree with you Coingecko and Coinmarketcap is best source for found new coin. In that's website we found all coins list. Even here we found total details about new and old coins.
Besides this two website we can found in crypto Exchanger. In Exchanger there has a section for newly listed coin. We know Exchanger can listed old and new coin both. But normally new were listed in exchanger mainly.

You can find coins on social media like Twitter and Telegram because there they will advertise their new incoming projects before you buy coins you must research their platform especially their whitepaper, market potential, partnerships and collaborators, roadmap, and security so that you will ensure that when you invest is that you have a high chance that your money invested is safe.
