Where and how can you find new coins before they go to the exchange? What criteria should you use to choose coins to buy?

If you want to know about the upcoming crypto projects, then you may have to intensify the way of your research online and from some certain crypto platforms, there are sites that you can google search for whereby they list some of these coins or tokens, also, some do bring theirs to this forum on the altcoins section and you may as well get informed by any of their official handles or friends referrals, but the team of developers behind it will determine whether its going to be successful or not.

Where and how can you find new coins before they go to the exchange?
they are usually promoted in different social media platforms but i find them commonly on X of course you would have to constantly seek them out by searching the right key words if you encounter a coin because of virality or popularity then most likely they are already heading to listing

it really depends on you some are just buying coins they think can give massive profit and does not care whether the coin has longevity or actual use in real world some like a coin with a fast tps so that they can use it for daily transactions

it is up to you what you prioritize the most

Be very careful if you decide to go on Twitter/social media in general. I found so many scam ads recently, even some influencer can post some obscure tokens because they want to dump their bags. It doesn't help that bots push so bot-generated posts easily so you won't find anything meaningful unless you keep scrolling for hours. You can also check if any exchange list new tokens on their pre-market section (not sure if any DEX has this), granted these are used by whales or exchanges themselves to generate profits so there's a huge chance you'll get nothing in the end.

I think your advice on the use of social network in buying new startup projects coins/token is great, obviously there are many scammers using social network to scam investors and users of their money. There are better sources to buy new coins and it is advisable to carry out through search
before jumping on new token sales.
However, I personally investing on new start up coins/tokens on CEX exchange like Bybit, Binance, and Kucoin exchanges respectively. Many of the new coin sales carried out on the these CEX exchange has been 100% successful.

I usually find new potentially good coins on Twitter, you go through projects timeline and can gauge whether it's a good project or not.

You also check their followers, if they are followed by legit established projects and legit people, high chances the project will also be a legit one.

For example, xyz project being followed by uniswap and Hayden Adams (who's creator of uniswap), the project will get green light from me.

Another quite effective way is to follow the websites and social media accounts of large investment funds in the market, such as Binance Labs, Pantera Capital, a16z, Coinbase Ventures... to find new projects they support or invest in. These projects have been vetted by experts and are worth exploring.

Twitter and blogs of large blockchain websites often report on promising new projects within their ecosystems: Solana, Bnb Chain, Avalanche, Ton... This is especially useful when investors have a particular fondness for an ecosystem and want to participate in the trends within that ecosystem to profit from their own experience and knowledge.

The most commonly used platform to find new start up projects is through social media channels and these includes, Twitter, medium, Linkedin, Telegram, and crypto news platforms like, cointelegragh. Binance Lab etc. You can also get new start up projects launched on the forums Announcement threads.
In addition, to find a genuine projects, you are required to do a thorough research before investing, and also investing on new projects, some times need getting details of the project team members.

There are various ways to sort for new coins.. First I'll recommend you to check for those on exchanges launchpool and airdrops. Those are much legit where you can subscribe with USDT to get the tokens at listing.
Another is on telegram, I believe you see most telegram based airdrop which are very popular as of now. This is another way to find out new coins, but the situation is this, these coins may likely end up not getting to exchanges but with much research on it, and how much investors has invested on it added to other positive factors required for a new coin, it will end up being successful e.g $DOGS.
Another is on X and other social medias... But it all boils down to how much you research about new tokens.

Where and how can you find new coins before they go to the exchange?

There are many websites and community which list or share information of new coins. But if you just the list and basic information, both CMC and CoinGecko have page which list newly listed coin on,

What criteria should you use to choose coins to buy?

It's hard to discover which new coin will end success (whether in terms or price or real usage). But it's worth to mention most of those coin would die or fade quickly.

If we have the privilege of getting a coin from online platform, then they may have to give us a redirect to the official platform where they belong, while some will be making campaigns on how to engage some of their users on a friendly mode, but the more serious they become when they are willing to offer what the people want, beca they are aware that there is competition in the market and that people could manage to use any means in getting one from any platform.

It is difficult to find a site that gives you accurate data about new coins before they are listed, most of the time you get this information from the official website of the coin or its official social media accounts.

For me, I do not prefer to buy any new coin before it is listed on exchanges because it is difficult to find good and reliable projects, so I rely on the exchanges I am registered with to see the announcement page for new coins that will be listed. At least this way you will get the new coins that are somewhat good.

Before they go to exchanges they are usually traded on Decentralized Exchanges (DEX).   Bonk is an example of a popular token on Solana.  It started as a meme coin, and blew up. Now it's traded on CoinBase and other exchanges.  You can search through DEXs for coins that have value, but a majority of them are just meme coins waiting for enough money gathered for a nice rug pull.  Birdeye.so is a DEX that I recommend. We have our coin listed on there.

As with all things, you need to carefully follow the various announcements on social media dedicated to the world of crypto, on the forums and also on coingecko and coinmarketcap
