I think they mean Blockchain Technology and Artificial Intelligence as a sign of progress and not to encourage people to invest in Bitcoin or invest in cryptocurrencies to achieve financial freedom. Bitcoin helps individuals and government support for Bitcoin will not help individuals but starting community initiatives will be better.

I really do not think that they are doing this for the interest of the masses. One thing I have come to realise about our leaders is that they always look for opportunities to loot. I would not be surprised the amount of money they have marked out for this function alone.

I saw were you mentioned NYSC, fine it is good they took such measures to making sure the youth coppers are trained and enlightened on Crypto currency but would the process be transparent itself? How would they run the proces? Who are the people they will be bringing in to train the youths or they will just arrange the coppers that have blockchain knowledge to traifetn them all? These are likely the resolution of the committee involved in such task as they would not really  want to impart the youths in the society yet to gain this knowledge.

You can't teach your old dog new tricks and if you can't change your mindset about money and investing, learning more about Bitcoin will cost you money. I think governments may do this to attract crypto companies and get licenses but nothing will change on an individual level.

I don't know that you are a Nigerian. You're welcome home. It is the Individual participation makes bitcoin increase and more popular but government can only make an enabling environment for the people to invest. Like what happened between Nigerian government and the exchange recently affected many investors. And this statements are coming because of the protest wey dey go on. Because den dey look for anything wey go make di youth stop protesting. The present government does not know anything about cryptocurrency and dem just dey tok weti dem no fit do.

good for them. its nice that its the government initiating to educate their people into this new industry. if they have the good intention, yup that's going to be one of a kind of government. although i always think there is a catch to this.

i always think of the harsh way teaching actually. like the government scamming the citizen by making them invest in the government back token by allowing people to buy their token with BTC and then suddenly its just confiscating their BTC.  regardless, its still one way to teach a lesson.  ;D

This is not the first time they have said such thing. The last government with his cabinet also said the same thing but at the end nothing happened. And this will be the same. When they are ready to use blockchain and cryptocurrency in the country we will still know. But for now all those statements are audio tracks and nothing will come out from them. Nigerian government indirectly against cryptocurrency and they are fighting against it.

I haven’t heard of this news before - but the issue we have in this country is transparency, since this has to do with funds and them creating a new token how sure are we that they won’t just use it as a mean to pack funds?

Anything that has to do with Nigeria government is just too difficult to trust, but let’s see if anything good will come out from it.

The most surprising aspect of this is that the government are taking this up and not that its coming form crypto community or users, why am being surprised is in seeing this in a country where crypto is not totally supported by its government, still yet you discover them encouraging to use the more it blockchain technology in which bitcoin and many other crypto relies on, at last, there could be a perfect acceptance on crypto by all governments.

Truly your points are correct and accurate. The government might be doing this just to get at international Crypto organisations telling them that Nigeria is a Crypto friendly nation which would attract them to come invest in Nigeria it possibly start up projects here in Nigeria with the fact that Nigerians are Crypto enlightened to take advantage of their presence in the country. This would make them get licence from the government to legally operate in Nigeria and also pay taxes there generating revenue for the government but I was wondering if the Nigerian government have officially declare their stand on Crypto because I have searched and searched and could not see any of the dailies or videos where the government or officials are saying anything with respect to Nigeria government approving Crypto transactions and uptill this moment no bank have admitted to carrying out Crypto transactions as well.

governments have no problem with cryptocurrencies, they can tax them and they can track them, but they will try to give certain platforms licenses to operate and request user data. Banning Bitcoin represents the loss of easy money and free profits, but don’t expect governments to help individuals improve their standard of living or give them an opportunity to invest without trying to profit from it.

I believe the government is just being cunny when it comes to Crypto. They are not saying anything much about it. This is a case of one sitting on the fence and Watching as things unfold to know what and where to jump to when it seems all is right with the other aspect of engagement. This is likely the situation of the government as it has to do with their stand on Crypto.

No I doubt they would benefit from receiving tax and.other stuffs as entitled to them and I think it would be the last thing they would do banning Bitcoin because of what they stand to benefit from it. What is likely happening now is the fact that they are trying to woo crypto firms to start coming in as they sitting on the fence and watching how things unfolds.

The current government ruling this country is a crock, believe them at your own peril, Tinubu, shetima, akpabio, Wike and the rest of the people appointed by Tinubu to rule this country with him are all bunch of criminals, they have no interest of the masses and citizens of Nigeria in their heart, what ever they do, rest assured it's for their own pocket and the pockets of those that are related and close to them.

If the Nigerian government launches a blockchain, rest assured it's not going to be a decentralized blockchain even if they claim it is, use this blockchain at your own peril.
I do not know what they even want to teach Nigerian about cryptocurrencies when and after they banned crypto multiple times and are yet to lift the ban.

For me let the government avoid any form of project development such as digital currency or any blockchain for now, let them concentrate on fixing the economy for now because as it stands, we are not stable in terms of knowledge to build any of those things and any attempt can land us in a worst economic state that can affect the recovery of the economy.

I think the government should focus on regulation and taxation of the cryptocurrency services providers such as the exchange and casinos who make cryptocurrency transactions and are licensed.

But due to corporations they won't do any of the above, because they are benefiting from the bad system and that will not allow them the fix the system.

For now Nigerian government can't do any about cryptocurrency and it Blockchain because they too corrupt to involve in technological innovations and they are even against cryptocurrency ecosystem in the country from the onset. When a government that will support cryptocurrency co.es, we will know and not this one. And definitely the government will never support anything decentralized but things that they can control.

I agree with your opinion on the government working on her economy as a result of the current situation of things.  The citizens need better economy than what it is now. However, I think your opinion on the stability of knowledge on building a  blockchain project in the national name is far fetched, Nigeria is blessed with knowledge and tallent too numerous to be undermine. We have Crypto and blockchain experts that could be contracted to help develop such of the government are willing but what I would agree with you if you had said it is that the government is too corrupt to even syphone funds in the name of building a blockchain and still them would kill the project and make sure it doesn't see the light of the day because they would be afraid of using it.

Without them lifting the ban on cryptocurrencies, it is clear that they don’t have anything to do with the technology and are just after their own income, to fill their bags the more. I don’t know how a country that publicly open up that they don’t want anyone to transact any cryptocurrency or take part in any of them would want to create a system that allows such transactions to be processed on them. You can’t be two sided, if you’re with the people, say you’re with them and if you’re not, make it clear to them. I also don’t see any positive thing coming out from this until they change their stance about cryptocurrencies and make us see it as a more viable option to transact with even after regulating them.
