Title: Asia's Blockchain Summit has a Nigerian speaker
Post by: Crypto_Potato on August 07, 2024, 12:12:01 AM
If you've not heard, there's ABS Asia Blockchain Summit that started just today and lasts till the 8th of this month. A lot of big names are currently at this event as speakers like the TON founder, Bybit CEO, Bitget wallet COO and Bitget COO also but we also have a Nigerian woman there as a speaker and she's Dr. Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwesili, the founder of SPPG. It's very interesting to see a Nigerian woman as a speaker in this event, and I look forward to her speech

Another thing is as someone who uses Bitget in Nigeria because okx and Binance have packed up, I want to see if they'll announce any interesting announcements or good insights about their development, the only thing they've talked about is giving out merch to the people that attend

Are any of you planning to follow this Summit?

I have no plan to follow this summit, but it's actually interesting, just as you have said, that we have our very one representing us there, and not just that she attended, but she is among the speakers in the event, that I would say is a great feat and shows that Nigerians are going places.

And for the records, okx exchange packed up and left nigeria, but it's wrong to say or assume that Binance did same, Binance is still very much available to Nigerians to trade spots, futures markets, you can even hold crypto assets on the exchange is you so wish (not advisable though), they only were forced by the Nigerian government to ban the naira p2p market on that platform, but access to every other features of the exchange is still available to Nigerians as of present.

bybite also provide p2p with good rate. Just that as trader and new person in the body of crypto you wouldn't know the best exchange to trade even though you send your money there would be no complaint or any issues.
Oby E. As a speaker is quite impressive because the information about cryptocurrency has now been taken to another dimension.

I sincerely don’t know how much she knows about crypto but from what her organization stands for or offers I don’t think she’s that versed on crypto.

I didn’t watch or follow the submit but if I’m right I believe what she would take about is probably some life advice to youth and also some motivation on how to key into this crypto opportunity and make the most out of it - I don’t think she’ll deal on anything other than that. But it’s still a very good thing that we as Nigerians will be recognized there because of our representatives being there to give a speech.

I never hear this submit before and na di first and I am not interested to follow such events because nothing good will come out from there. But it is a good news that Nigerian lady is a speaker there but can she speaks well on Blockchain because I only know as an educationist and not technologist. If they the organizers of this submit really want to discuss on technology them they would have used someone that is very good in Blockchain to analyse it and not technology from education perspective. And from you information, today is the last day of the submit and there is no link to follow up the submit. So where do you think say one who dey interested go fit follow up di meeting?

I personally have no intention of following up with the summit but however, I would give a bit of my attention to it. I was impressed hearing our very own Dr. Oby would be speaking live there and it reminds me how far and great our countrymen have gone. It occurred to me that she was a very top official at the World Bank before her appointments in Nigeria and till date she still holds exalted positions out there and making Nigeria proud.

I am happy about here schedule to make speech at the summit because this would send a good signal to the world that Nigeria and Nigerians are well informed about Crypto and possibly call for Crypto projects presence here in Nigeria and seeing this, Nigeria government would realise that Nigerians are well informed as well and after seeing the outcome would definitely step up and do the needful as it relates to crypto and blockchain in Nigeria.

Was actually excited when I saw the information, and to do it in an event Co sponsored by BG is quite good. Let's hope she does this more..extend her voice towards crypto adoption

Definitely she will and gradually it will get recognition in the country because I know that Nigeria is a funny country where people inside the country doesn't value our people who well known in other nations for their activist and engagement into a particular field. For example Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala (WTO) has been known all over the world as a good economist which has been the voice of many countries, again then speak to Ex. President GJE what to do save our economy but yet wasn't valued. She has tried her best contributing our nation but people leading seems to be very myopic in their reasoning and thinking.

Although I couldn't join the event, I was excited about Vulgar's session where he shared thoughts on institutional adoption and the rise of Web3, and some of the roles Bitget is playing to facilitate this.

As a Nigerian, I was also inspired to see Dr. Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwesili as a speaker at such a major event.

I’d definitely be keeping an ear out for any exciting development in Web 3 and from Bitget, because a lot of the speakers hinted at exciting future developments.

Wow, this is good to know.it is good to see voices like Dr. Obiageli represent our country at such a significant , prestigious event like the Asia Blockchain Summit ooo.Her presence there validates the growing influence and contribution of all Africans in the global blockchain space. As for Bitget, it will definitely be worth it keeping an eye on their announcements, especially given the challenges with exchanges like OKX and Binance in Nigeria.i'll be following the summit closely though to see what insights emerge.

The name Oby Ezekwesili sounds familiar, if I haven’t saw the news here and heard the name somewhere else, I won’t have thought of the person to be into blockchain technology. The name looks political and maybe that’s where I’ve heard the name from before. It is a good things seeing a Nigerian speaking in such a big conference and to make it more interesting is that the speaker is a woman. This should serve as invited to many women that are still yet to learn about this new raveling technology that everyone wants to be part of, it’s not too late for anyone to learn and be part of the newest technology that provides financial freedom.

OKX only announced that they’ll be leaving Nigeria and all of their services here in Nigeria will be stopped. Binance never said same things and we can still use and access the Binance app even though the websites of all exchanges in Nigeria have been blocked. Binance only stopped the services of P2P in Nigeria but every other thing is perfect and working well for all Nigerians using them.

In fact, it is heartwarming to have a personality such as Dr. Obiageli participating at such a global stage, as is the Asia Blockchain Summit. That he was present there makes clear just how valuable the role and input that Africa and Nigeria specifically bring to the global development of blockchain. This is about not just technology, but also opportunity – the opportunity to foster new international partnerships. Moreover, it is still fascinating to observe their announcement regarding it, especially given the recent situations with some of the large-scale platforms, such as OKEx and Binance, in Nigeria. There is always something new that can be explored and gaining such exposures can help to understand how the blockchain ecosystem can still grow within the restrictive nature of regulation.

It is significant that Dr. Obiageli, joined hundreds of participants from around the world in the Asia Blockchain Summit to demonstrate the new role of Africa and Nigeria in this rapidly developing industry. This participation depict the possibility of other international organizations to extend access to blockchain technology in other parts of the world. Therefore, even if there is still a need for improvement for large platforms such as OKEx within Nigeria, as well as Binance, at the moment, there remains further development for these challenges. This is evidence that, still, blockchain technology could still adapt to the constrains and become another viable technology with support from the worldwide community to revolutionize the electronic business platform.

It hurts the womanhood I believe in without including her many years of experience in the world of economics. It used to require daring for countries such as China, Japan, India, or Indonesia to have a good reason to acknowledge her expertise before inviting her to Asian forum.

She was the former Minister of Economy of Nigeria, and former Vice president for the World Bank for Africa that avails her rich experience on the world economy. Now while she may not be having conversations centered around cryptocurrencies I have found that the economics she knows can indeed be so happily used in the crypto space.
