There is a lawsuit against many regulators and the government of Nigeria about their hostility against cryptocurrencies in Nigeria by a crypto activist and politician James Otudor. According to the news, he is receiving support from the local cryptocurrency community. We all know how the regulators and government strictly against P2P transactions in Nigeria and how they told some P2P exchanges to stop providing crypto/naira P2P services to Nigerians. I think this is worth knowing.

Finally someone with wisdom have come out.
I just read the article and I support him 100% - currently many Nigerians thinks that cryptocurrency has been banned in the country (because banks doesn’t allow any crypto related transactions) so many feel that if you’re caught holding crypto in your wallet you’ll be treated has someone who is in possession of contraband.
Lets see what will be the outcome of this case if he’ll be able to show them the truth about what crypto really is, because majority of those in power are clueless as to what crypto is about - some feel it’s mainly for laundering money, funding terrorist and killing the naira rate (which still didn’t do well despite the restrictions of crypto transactions). Let’s just watch and see what happens.

If I am not mistaken, the federal government did not ban crypto but to the best of my knowledge, they only stopped the banks and exchanges from trading crypto with naira and stopped the p2p trading of crypto. This is why crypto is a bit active in Nigeria but the truth is that people are just afraid of what the security agencies would do as they act rashly whenever they hear or see someone talking or dealing with cryptocurrency.
We pray the gentleman scales through with the support he is getting from the crypto community because such fight is not an easy one to fight against the government in some kind of policy they do not want to give consent to and also looking for all means to sit on the youth that are trying to survive the harshness of their government.

If gets enough support that will be required then just maybe he would win on this one. The Nigerian government are one tricky bodies who will go to any extent to make sure they come out victorious. They find many ways to frustrate be mass fo their or about and don't even try to look at the brighter picture. Cryptocurrency would help in one way boost the economy. We barley have jobs to cover up for the graduates out their. Those who have found their way are being restricted by government to manage their life's in any possible means. Though they didn't ban cryptocurrency but look at it from the other side, they are fighting against the means for converting these cryptocurrency into naira. To me it's just the same thing.

Well, this conditions are tough regardless of the many hindrances that make opportunities harder to come by. Governments that do not fully allow use of crypto come up with new problems, especially for those who use the technology as an extra source of income given the lack of employment opportunities. When economic through crypto lens is negatively affected, our dreams of development also appear to be cut short. With more support, I believe in the future, more positive changes will occur to promote our economic freedom.

This is a welcome development as the government of the country is against anything called crypto currency trading in Nigeria for reasons best known to them, I just pray that the case gets a Fair hearing in court as Nigeria one of Africa biggest economy gets to loose out on what is happening in the crypto space, because weather they like it or not crypto currency as come to stay in the world and is one of the biggest markets currently. I don't know why the government is only interested in regulating crypto trading due to what they term scam because the level of corruption going on in the country is One of the highest in the world so government restricting cryptocurrency trading is really unfortunate as there are allot of positive in the crypto market that the country can get .
