Title: The Curious Trend of Pet-Themed Projects in the TON Ecosystem
Post by: Fhiyyerh on August 27, 2024, 12:49:52 AM
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that projects on the TON ecosystem often have names related to cats and dogs? Some aren’t even meme coins but still have ‘cat’ or ‘dog’ in their names. Even though they claim to deliver something distinct for the community, I still think there’s a gap that needs to be bridged—like finding a way to customize real-life pets using AI.

Haha, I think so too, lol. But to be honest, there are a few that stand out. AVACN, for example, I really like what their team is building. Cats is another one doing something different. They’re focused on creating unique cat avatars for users and are even launching an interactive game where your CAT evolves through real-life and AI interactions. But aside from these two, most of the other projects are pretty much the same, just like you said, no real utility, nothing special.

You should have mentioned some examples here, maybe I wouldn't have had to maybe argue and or disagree with you, and this is because, I myself being someone who is pretty much very active on telegram and actively participating in almost all the most popular projects there, I can agree that indeed, there are alot of pet themed project on the Ton network, but all of them are all meme related.

And to be honest with you, I do not see how meme and Ai relates to each other, and as such, it did be pretty difficult for the two to work as one.
As you know, meme coins is a narrative standing on its own, while Ai is also a narrative coming up and doing well for itself already.
Nothing is impossible I understand, but then, Ai and meme have no relation, like I mean, real business relation since they are respectively born out of different ideas.

Piggy riding on previous success, that's all.
Dogs had doge and shiba, cats struck gold with crypto kitties back in the day, so why bother going for a new approach when this one proved successful, find a catchy name, and try to look as cool as possible, ignoring actual economics and tech, hype for something cool can bring far bigger rewards than even some actual real-life problem solvers.
But with every such trend, once there is oversaturation and no money left to grow them by an order of magnitude they die down and wait for the next season.

The dogs project is a mascot created by ton founder like pavel durov for the telegram community, embodying its unique spirit and culture. Lots of people are getting dogs token free by participating in telegram mining. I can estimate about 44m telegram users have received dogs token. In fact it is considered the highest airdrops after notcoin mining.
On the other hand, cats follow the trend and want to take the hype in the market, but there is a lot of waiting for it. There is nothing much to be gained from cats telegram mining as it will distribute some token for free as meme coin. It is their failure that they cannot catch investors easily. Because in the context of the present time where the amount of profit is more then the investor will be there.

I'd like to call it memes reinvented, Just when I thought that memes are fading, here we are developers utilizing Ton eco system to re invent memes and because of the success of Ton, aside from cats, we have frogs and ducks I'm not surprised that some memes will finds it way on the top the way they are generating huge support from the community.

There is nothing interesting about this, it’s just that the creators of all these meme tokens and projects took an already working system of meme tokens and implemented it into their own system, which, judging by everything, they did the right thing (it’s not always worth inventing something new if there’s something very well working old), and so it is with these projects, which, if you analyze them, were previously on other blockchains and showed themselves on the good side.

Well, as we all know, the main reason why meme projects have such names is that they want to make them fun. So, I think the Ton ecosystem projects might be trying to do the same, since they deal with onboarding new users mostly. They want to give names that will be easy to resonate with users. I mean, though DOGS was a meme on the Ton ecosystem, it resonated with lots of users. And now, we have projects like $CATS also making noise because of how easy they are to remember. With the pre-market already on CEX like Bitget, the project is sure to gain more exposure. So, for now, I think they are just trying to make Ton ecosystem projects fun.

Dogs and Cats are the most famous animal-themed coins right now in the crypto space that's why whenever there's a new meme coin that's being created under a blockchain, a dog or cat-themed meme coin will always be created.

I've noticed it and so does most of the users here, and these developers just want to ride the hype that these animal-themed coins have. We've seen meme coins with a name of ELON when he became popular. Expect more of these in the future.

I think it is just because it’s relatable to everyone. Pets are really everywhere, and just the simple “Dog” is automatically relatable to everyone. I think that’s the approach that they are taking to get people to invest in it.

Imagine launching a crypto project with that name. It is quite easy to be recognized, and with the power of Telegram, I think it’s even easier to let people participate in the project.

Not just limited to pet names, the trend for memecoin is using names of animals but, of course, they can be a lot cuter if they prefer pets like cats and dogs. And it can be because project developers want people to easily identify themselves with the project; with something that is common people may feel comfortable. Now, as to their value and use-cases that would be another story...a very common thread in the memecoin narrative. Maybe if I am given a chance to make my own memecoin, I would be using name of insects like butterfly, mosquito or maybe caterpillar.

The TON ecosystem's feline and canine-themed projects do stand out. While some may view it as a marketing gimmick, I see potential for innovation.

Customizing real-life pets using AI, as you suggested, could be a fascinating use case. Imagine integrating blockchain technology with AI-powered pet personalization, enabling unique digital twins or even virtual pet experiences.

To bridge the gap, projects could explore:

1. Virtual pet platforms with real-world implications (e.g., pet adoption, training).
2. AI-driven pet health monitoring or something related to genetic analysis.
3. Blockchain-based pet supply chains or ownership verification, though this has no paper work in most African countries.

you are completely missing the point, they support these projects because they might be successful like doge and all the coins that came out after doge became famous but there are no use cases for them other than changing the logo name and marketing policies.

I saw something similar on twitter some days ago, the bloke said his telegram almost looks like a zoo lol. It's always dogs, cats or rats. Well to be fair, Dogs did work out and now CATS too has enabled withdrawal to Bybit, Bitget and OKX so I think it's safe to say it will pay at this point

People like animals, and as mascots - even more, in my opinion.
Maybe we will see rhinos, lions, and others in the future, I mean successful like those like DOGS or CATS (not that much).

there’s hamster as well frogs and pigs as well lol even cows i remember

i think it is because memecoins are all about characters and it is so easy to make a character out of animals hence why it is the most being used these days it also helps that many hyped or famous memecoins are animal-themed other projects are just following them

the question would be how much would you get from it? lots of projects are being listed nowadays but this does not guarantee anything
