I see such discussion coming over and over again.
(karma abuse by ... ) https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=324227.0
There isn't really an evidence about the - or + karma from anyone. We really need karma log to be open. When someone clicks + or - karma in a post, their name should be written like this:
this would make things much much more simple. Abusers would be instantly detect by the community.
This also looks so easy to implement...

It seems we are still forgetting that karma is not like merit on bitcointalk, as it's both positive and negative. -karma is more like negative feedback without the transparency and more often than not it leads to retaliatory negative feedback, and otherwise a negative feedback loop that draws more users into that loop. This is one of the reasons why the karma logs are not public. Users should be able to give -karma without retaliation, and open karma logs would encourage the opposite by default, and lead to negative feedback loops.
I support the idea of positive and negative karma on posts, although I understand it's not easy to implement, but not specifying which users gave the karma.

Open Karma logs!!!
Release the kraken!
Honest opinion, it will be a shitshow! ;)
There will be less abuse but there will also be less negative karma given even if deserved because of fear of consequences, think of it like voting, nobody wants that tracked!
That aside, if we talk about abuse, we could go youtube style and show only positive karma given, nobody would have something against this other than karma farmers, if there are any around here at all.

It will work perfectly, we only can see the positive karma logs so it can avoid all the drama comes with negative Karma issuance and also it will restrict the account farmers and Karma abusers but it's a big leap and for now I don't think it will be implemented. For now every karma abuse cases can be dealt privately via PM to admin or creating a kind of thread that records details regarding accounts under suspicion.

Maybe with a few adjustments: accounts with less than 10 karma shouldn't be able to give or remove karma (or some other number). This will cut off most karma abuse cases.
I gave negative karma few times , and I see no reason to expose them! 1 Karma is worth very little, there won't be much problems imo.
In bitcointalk there is a trust system with negative trust which is way more punishing than the negative karma system, and it works somewhat well.
Or maybe, just show -5 Karma (total negative karma) on the posts, without the names of the haters... this could be an option

admin has it in the to do list, but somewhere not in the first lines, because it is a complicated task. We all agree (admin included) that it could be good, but there are many things to do which have more priority.
As for the opening of information about karma senders, then no, the reason is the same: we don't want any karma wars. It is much better when the one who is being aimed by some karma abuser goes to the forum court and then the abuser gets his penalties than we'll have the situation with multiple retaliatory karma (both positive and negative).

I read a post by @admin that something like this might not happen due to technical issues as any mistake could lead to bigger problems so there is a kind of agreement that you can’t see who sent you Karma.
You can see the posts that got Karma and data about who gave it to you in the form of a dump every two or three weeks.
Personally I don't support such decisions, there is no need to focus on Karma and if you feel offended (minus 20 or 1 Karma every 12 hours) you can create a topic about it.

Where is this information? I never saw that.
I would be amazing , I would probably create an add-on for the forum to see this information in the posts

As alternative proposal I'm in favour of it. Previously karma was full members and above, then increased to senior members due to growing number of karma issuers. So without raising this to hero members and above (due to the increased number of karma issuers again) then something like having 10 or more karma to issue karma is logical. Because there are a lot more karma issuers these days compared to in the past and not all of them are good issuers imo. Issuers of karma should be those who have good posts themselves, and therefore would be a better judge of good posts.

Better forget about karma and opening this big can of worms, I don't see anything good coming out of this and admins already said multiple times he won't do it.
Karma needs to be reimagined from start, but I don't think anyone is ever going to find perfect solution that makes everyone happy.
I saw voting for Senators was announced so maybe they can make some changes in forum.

It seems I can't quote locked topics.
for karma linked to post, please forget it for now, i might work on it later. and if so it's not a guarantee that it will go live, because ... bugs and errors. any slight error can crash the system and have done so in the past, that's why i avoid messing too much. concerning karma logs, as a first step, a copy of these logs (with a delay of one week) will be available for top management. president, vice president , as well as ex presidents. later on, if we see there is a need, it will be also available to selected few mods (correction mods) opening karma logs is not a solution, because it would lead to petty retaliation.
It seem to have misunderstood the text, it will be available to a limited list, with a week delay this data will lose its importance and therefore I don't think there is any objection to making it available to the public.

Thanks for sharing.
Well, as it is still not q Public data, I wouldn't be able to create the extension that I had in mind.
If it ever become open data, I can create an extension to make it visible for everyone.

I suggested something like this before when admin asked in the local board. That it should show the +karma number on every post disregarding the givers, if it goes to -karma, then it should too, and admin agrees to it, well, the timeframe is unknown so i will not expect it will be done so early.

As some other forum members explained, open karma logs will create more drama on the forum. If a person gives negative karma to another, they may disagree. They will start giving negative karma back. Not long ago, a forum member had a heated word exchange with examplens, and the user started to give negative karma to examplens.
There have been a couple of more recent dramas. Since the admin is handling these cases, I don't think having an open karma log is necessary, as it may escalate the situation further.
