Title: Forum star badges on threads what do they mean?
Post by: Mia Chloe on September 25, 2024, 09:13:16 PM
I really don't know if a post very similar to this has been created here before, anyways I think it's ok to still stir up a discussion about it. I've been active on ALTcoins talks for quite a while now and I've visited almost literally every board though I haven't made posts in some of them. Anyways I noticed for some time now that some threads especially those in the signature campaign board have star badges.

I can't really tell how long it's been since admin implemented it but I can tell I've been seeing them for pretty much a long while now and so far I really don't have a clue what they mean and how those badges come up in a thread. Personally I feel a couple of the threads are underrated . I may be wrong but the point is I don't get how the badges are created.

They are not badges, they are star ratings given to the specific thread and I don't know on what criteria they are given but it's only specific people capable of giving star ratings not everyone and I guess admin, mod, presidents are the ones if I am not wrong.

But those star ratings are kind of irrelevant in my opinion cause they serve no real purpose or enlighten if there's any.

This is admin's response to a similar thread

rating done by:
admin + president + global mods + mods
monarch + vip
 + expert rank
+ jedi + mythical

might be expanded later to upper ranks

why have a rating .... debatable

^ As you can see, it's done by a closed group and no set of criteria was publicly announced. The (star) rating given probably based on personal opinion of what a quality topic is. It could be from discussion in the thread or campaign participant's posting style.

You can actually know if you check it opening a thread instead viewing it from the list of threads inside the board section pov that those are not just badges but ratings just like already said.

Although having them serve no purpose on signature threads, but a bit useful on suggestions box section.

I see. Thanks for explaining to us how those stars come up. From what you said, I hope admin allows other ranks to assign badges to threads that are eligible to carry badges. It would be nice too if everyone had a chance to do so probably almost like karma is for at least senior members and above.

For people that are totally new to the forum there is a high probability that they Will likely judge threads that have badges with their badges. And so they may have a different view about either an under stared thread or probably an over stared one.
