Title: Starting development on a bitcoin game - want to help?
Post by: Vod on October 04, 2024, 07:59:36 PM
First of all, this is not a stand alone game - it's meant to integrate with another project.  Second of all, every number is subject to change  :)  This is just a rough idea.

Asteroid mining has become safe for the average entrepreneur.   On a 2D real time hexagon map, earth is rotating around the sun - this allows many users to start out without direct competition.  As you research new technologies, you'll set up mining operations on the asteroid belt.   Travel is real time and fleets can be intercepted in flight.

You cannot do this alone.   Each day, you get one research point you can put towards a multitude of tech trees.  Even level of the tech tree is double the previous (1 point, 2, 4, 8...) so a player can generalize on many fields or specialize on a few/one.  You'll need to form fleets with other players - a fleet might consist of an advanced miner along with a combat ship.  The player who researches combat technologies will be hired by the miners to protect them.

Mining will produce bitcoins.   These bitcoins are generated by players purchasing equipment.  Research is free and cannot be accelerated, and you cannot pay your way to win.

I have a lot of experience with databases, so I'm looking for partners with the following skills:

- 2D hexagon game development
- UX Designer (make it easy for a player on phone or computer)
- UI Designer (more about designing and less about implementation. Good at design with perhaps only light HTML and CSS skill)

No marketing or promotion will be needed.  While partners will get all of the a very small sales tax (how the game makes money) and I will not take any cut, it's important to state this is not a money making guarantee.   Do this for your love of real time gaming, or blockchain technology and community recognition.  :)

I think gaming is about beautiful art. Even is pixel art is art. I always thought this is somewhat hard to make in a game.

How will you pay players the real bitcoin? Will they be mining in their phones? I don't think this is feasible.

Can you give some basic guidelines on how the project will generate any money at all?
I assume there won't be any game tokens or NFTs.

The game will not have tokens or NFTS.   A player will collect ore and once successfully delivered to the station, it can be converted to BTC - there is no actual mining involved.    You have a virtual balance and you can cash out for BTC at any time.

Example: A player will need to purchase a mining ship to mine.  This has a cost, which is deducted from your balance.  If you are starting off and do not have a balance you will need to fund your account.  The game makes money on the premise that most players will not recoup their investment.    The people that log in hourly, build relationships in game and micro manage can make money while having fun.   Or you can research combat and become a pirate.  It's an open game where you set your fees.

I agree!  This is a 2D game so each item on the board can be a work of art.  If a game such as this were to become popular, I could see artists making unique ship designs for a small fee.
