Are you using any Smartwatches for anything connected with Bitcoin?
This can be following price changes, bitcoin news updates, or even as bitcoin wallet.
It would be cool to have some simple device with retro look and open source code.
-
So far the smart watches of such nature are for calls, exercise and pulse rate notification if I am not mistaken. I have not really heard about such before but I believe something of that nature is possible in the verge of emergence as it is that the world is always looking for ways to making sure that we can do things without much stress at our own convenience.
If a smart watch of such nature can be developed, it would be a great fit achieved and would aid keep track of our Crypto assets and funds and also gives us easy access when ever we want to make transaction if the options are available on the smart watch.

I have not heard of such, but I believe that with time, we can see such smart wristwatch to assist crypto enthusiasts for easy tracking and get updates to keep them on the right track at all times without checking the internet always. Only apple has done something like this this but not crypto related just for easy access to your phone calls and some others.

Few years ago there was a widget for Garmin watches that could be used for tracking bitcoin ad crypto prices on Gramin watches.
I didn't test it myself but I know this widget was free and open source, so something like this already exists.
There are similar price tickers for Samsung Gear watches and other devices:

I own two in the past, no longer use them since I no longer travel a lot. One broke already, which is understandable since I bought a budget smartwatch. Don't want to spend a hundred bucks for something I rarely use. I think it was a Mi Watch or something. It had a custom widget and integration with many apps including Telegram. I remember linking my Telegram apps with them so any notification gets forwarded to my smartwatch. I think it can work as an option for price change notifications, as long as you can find a good bot for that in Telegram.

apple allows you to connect your mobile phone (it should be an iphone obviously) and all notifications from your phone goes directly to your smartwatch it is not just phone calls and alerts or whatever i think if you have an app for crypto news and updates as long as it is installed in your phone it will be able to show up in your smartwatch as well

Yes I was going to suggest that here but I think op speaks more of an open source watch. Apples watches can perform similar task though. And I've seen some other smart watches that are able to connect to your devices and receive notifications too.

I actually had no knowledge about this though and I did not do a thorough research with respect to this topic matter though but thanks for bringing this to my notice and awareness. I think this would go a long way into further research and finds for more clues and insight. Thanks you.

This type of widget for smartwatches will allow users to track Bitcoin and crypto prices without constantly checking their phones. If they add features like managing wallets or making transactions, that would be even better.

It's hard to find open source watches but I found several DIY projects who are doing exactly that.
I am surprised that more hardware wallet manufacturers didnt go with watch format for hardware wallet.
There was one model from China BITHD Watch and I think they used forked trezor firmware.

Adding wallet features would be nice but would have a limited features or function because the smart watch would not be that able to accommodate all functions of a wallet. But if it comes to price tracking and possible wallet alert ie you get alerted when your wallet receives or sends funds or assets likewise when there is an update as regards price change, that would be nice.
Sometimes when one is in a large gathering and maybe the need to track price occurs and you do not want to use your phone probably because it would call for attention, one can just use their watch to do that without any one noticing it and that is a smart move to say.

Smartwatches have apps and games in them, so in theory it is possible to add wallet apps also.
I would not use that for managing all coins, but it would be nice for smaller spending amounts.
Two interesting open source projects are Asteroid OS, as linux distribution for smartwatches, and ZSWatch - the Open Source Zephyr based Smartwatch:

I personally do not see it feasible putting much funds in such wallet, I will only put funds that I can afford to lose. The funds would just be centred on amount or assets I could use to pay for stuffs for instance quick purchase or a matter of urgency arises that needs be attended to.
Such a wallet does not need one to put much in them but you can use it to track or monitor transaction or price of assets as the case may be.

I haven't really heard obout special bitcoin smart watches that track the movement of bitcoin on charts or anything related although i know of smart watches that have special installed apps that tracks bitcoin prices and the rest such as the samsung galaxy watch with bitcoin apps like crylto tracker and blockchain among others.
Although, having smart watches specially designed for bitcoin tracking and the rest would be really cool.

If smartwatches can have downloaded apps in them to track Bitcoin price, crypto news, and wallets. Do you think there will be a special need to develop a smartwatch specifically for only tracking the Bitcoin price chart without adding additional usage so the users of the smartwatch can enjoy the process while they make use of the smartwatch design for the Bitcoin price chart?
Smartwatches are called smartwatches because of what is embedded in them. That is, what you can do with them ''to answer calls, pulse rate, notifications and alerts, GPS location tracking, and music and media control.

Yes these are the few amongst numerous reasons why they are called smartwatch. These reasons are very much important in our day to day routine that was why they are being produced and now, the routine is shifting gradually or should I say that as a result of the new technological phase and the rise of crypto in the economic and financial industry, there was need to develop or integrate crypto tracking into the the smartwatches so that one can constantly keep track of their assets or investment or to constantly monitor the market at ease when in a public space or function which would not be safe or convenient bringing out or using a mobile device or phone to do so.
Most of these functions are quite necessary and as a matter of fact, they are a kind of a daily routine engagements that needs constant monitoring to evaluate ourselves and outputs in various occasions. Not everything that requires that much attention when we are in a public and that is the reason why we got smartwatches to help reduce the effect of public attention to some kind of engagements that would require privacy to ourselves alone.

As far as i know smart watches are used to make calls, view messages, view social media notifications, etc. Even for sports watch, we can see heart rate of the body, blood pressure, activities like walking, cycling trek are done. But never heard of using bitcoin with smart watch. Especially this is not possible in my country because crypto is banned here for now. But with the change of time we will discover many such things. Creating such smart watches for crypto will be more convenient for everyone as transactions, crypto assets and fund tracks can all be seen in moments.

Funny that few days ago I saw some a new project that is trying to sell crypto watches in some presale campaign.
I don't know if someone was inspired by my posts and started this idea, but I don't like anything connected with presales.
If there are any developers willing to create crypto/bitcoin apps for smart watches please post your interest below.

Interesting development coming from Jade wallet developers.
They recently added support for some new devices that includes TTGO TWatchS3 with price around $40, maybe even cheaper with some 11.11 deals.
Design could be better in my opinion but this is a move in good direction.

I recently found another interesting open source wristwatch project that is based on Zephyr.
Project is called ZSWatch, it is under development, and it can be made from scratch, both hardware and software, and case can be 3d printed.
I am not sure if Bitcoin related stuff can be used with this stuff, but it should be possible in theory.

For people who are using Garmin Smartwatches you can already find and download some apps, widgets and watchfaces connected to Bitcoin.
First you need to download ConnectIQ app, connect it with Garmin main app account, and than search for terms like Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency.
For example, you can see available apps and supported devices even in web version:
https://apps.garmin.com/search?keywords=bitcoin
https://apps.garmin.com/search?keywords=cryptocurrency
I wish Garmin had open source alternative app, but only option for now is Gadgetbridge and support for devices is not great.

There is interesting development in simple smartwatch world after g00gle decided to released Pebble watch code as open source.
This was initiative started by Eric Migicovsky, the creator of original Pebble watch, one of the first smart watches in the world.
He contacted g00gle and they decided to release files on github page, so Eric is bringing Pebble back to life.
You can find more information about this with source code in links bellow:
