Good day everyone
Well I don't really know if something like this has been done here before but I would want our people that has been on the cryptocurrency game foe some time now to drop some of their experiences either good or bad and also drop advice that will help newbies to overthose situations
-
What exactly experience you looking for we cant give some advice that we don't know if what exactly experience you looking for.
Are you talking about the forum? It is just the same as what you can experience on different forums; the self-improvement is based on how active you are. I don't think it needs advice or depends on the situation you talking about.
-
I agree with the post above - it would be better if you just specify a specific aspect that you want to know, because if we should start to write about our experiences so far in crypto it’s going to take a while lots of time to end because a lot of us here have been in this space for longer time than others and some have experienced so many things that might sound unbelievable to others.
So if you just want to know how their experience has been since when they came to this forum or if there have been any changes since they started to follow advices they see here or not, just try to narrow it down.

We are really confused, as they said earlier which type of experience do you want to know more about , is it about cryptocurrency or about the forum or what are you actually talking about try and be specific.
If it is about the forum this isn’t the right board to ask about it unless you want to understand it more clearly in your local language. And if it is about cryptocurrency their is still board to ask about that and you have to be specific and and bold so which experience are you really talking about .
Taking a deep look into your question seems you are asking about cryptocurrency. There are many threads that talked about cryptocurrency on the beginners and help board and also at cryptocurrency board . If you want us to tell you clearly or more understanding in our local language then ask about it . Try and make your questions much more understanding and clear

Well I'm sorry I didn't specify I meant an experience in crypto generally not the forum
Like maybe you were once scammed or both a shit coin or you were hacked things like that

I think if there is anything that anyone want to know about here can always be aired and cleared.
We all have had multiple experience in the Crypto industry and we are still facing more of it
The only advice I would give is ... Newbies, be careful with your private seed phrases and don't trust anyone with your private keys in both online and offline not even your relatives as betrayal can come from those we trusted while anonymous scammers could portray being helpful to you online or claiming to have you some cool pool where you can invest your funds and make some good profits.
Just too many strategies by which you can be ride over your funds.

Read his last post on this thread you’ll see that he already addressed this and the Op wants to know about our experience so far in crypto (not just about the forum), things like whether we have been scammed before or did anything wrong that led to our system being infested with malware which resulted in our wallet getting hacked and our funds drained from it.
Personally, since I came into the crypto space I don’t think I’ve ever been scammed before - the only incident I can still recall which I think it’s close to scam was when I joined a telegram channel that claimed to be a crypto guru channel and all they do there was to bring out list of potential shit coins that they think till give us 100x but in the end we later discovered that it was just a pump and dump group and they would buy the token and set their sale price before dropping the name in the group and when we start rushing to buy they’ll sell their holding causing the price to crash and all of us that participated in it would lose our money.
And also I did experience a hack - it’s not as if I downloaded an app or something it was a site I connected my wallet to. Back then I had a wallet I dedicated to just airdrops and its like and I remember connecting my wallets to several site and one day when I deposited some BNB to use as gas fee I noticed that everything left the wallet - I made a second deposit and same thing happened (almost immediately) I had no other option than to abandon the wallet and all the tokens I got from my airdrop hunting. This was the only one I did experience and the wallet back then was worth just very little money because most of the tokens were never listed in any exchange.

OP, there are lots of crypto experience I have had in the past, but I think this few I would just highlight are just very necessary because they have to do with security and safety of asset.
Not every website you should give access or permission to your wallet and if you must do that, use a new wallet with no funds in it and after you are done, terminate or disconnect the wallet from the website because you might want to use it in the future and possibly forgotten that you used it in the past to connect to a website and if disconnected, you are safe otherwise your asset if sent to that wallet would be at risk. I have had this experience in the past were I connected a wallet to a website and did some transaction, unknown to me that I did not disconnect it after I was done with transaction. I left it and after a while, I used the wallet to store some assets forgetting that it was still connected. I left the assets there thinking it was fully protected not knowing that it has been drained and that was how I lost assets and funds stored in that wallet.
Secondly, your key phrase is another thing you should not joke with because if it happens, it is always like a dream you watching your assets appreciating in value and you have no access to them again. It is very painful that such would happened as a result that the mistake was from you not properly saving your keys to your assets. That is one of the most painful experience and it would always be a thing of regret because it was at your disposal to save your keys but maybe one reason or the other you did not or were not able to do that immediately. I have had this experience in the past were I did not save the keys to my wallet holding some fraction of bitcoin and it happened as a result of my wallet malfunctioning and a crash. Till this day that asset keep increasing in value and I can not access it. That thought me a big lesson to always write down my key phrase up opening any wallet for which I will make use of.
Haven had these experience, I would advise to always do well to save your key phrase when ever you open a new wallet because you never can tell the next minute and lastly, do not leave your wallet connected to any website, do well to disconnect it immediately after you are done with your task to be on the safe side because you just might want to use it again forgetting about your past engagements or maybe some of the engagements might pay you off and for the fact that the wallet is still connected, it might get drained. You just have to always be on the safe side by protecting your wallets and assets.

Wow.thats crazy I'm really grateful for this I actually do not disconnect my wallets from those sites I had no idea they can be used to scam I wasn't cautioned about that
I guess I will be more vigilant about that now

Good experience, I've made more profits from holding, bad experience i lost some money during my trading. Yea cryptocurrency teaches a lot and the more you spend time understanding the basics the more experience you get. The best thing to know as a newbie is that it's not a get rich quick thing and if you get into this space with such mindset, you will end up losing money to scammers. You need to take your time to experience and study how the market works, gain useful knowledge and they you will grow your money in the crypto space.

If there’s anything that you need to do that require you to give permission to the site or connect your wallet to the site then make sure you create a new wallet for it.
Funny enough, I encountered one site where I was asked to connect my wallet to it and I went ahead and connect an empty wallet I newly just created and I received a prompt on the website that I show connect a wallet that contains a balance.
They didn’t actually scan the wallet to know if it was empty or not all they did was to make that message automatically appear when you connect to the site so that if you’re a newbie and you come across such message after creating a new wallet to protect your fund you might be tempted to try your main wallet to see if it will show the same message or grant you access to the site. Just try not to fall for any temptation out there and you should be safe.

Well, it's important that we ask questions like this, especially for the newbies or those who are new to certain things. I have had little tough experience in my few months in the crypto space. One of my experience, which happens to be my first was my failure to keep my passwords/login details properly. That mistake literally cost me all my funds as at that time. To be honest, it wasn't easy starting all over again. So, I will advise you to try as much to keep anything relating to login details very safe. Your seed phrase, Pkeys and other sensitive details that gives you access to either your funds or any other thing, should be kept properly. And I hope you don't fall victim after reading about my experience.

That's quite a nice idea OP we have a couple of reputable members on the forum here too that have been on the crypto space for quite a long time too. Anyways I've learnt a whole lot of things in the crypto space especially relating to bitcoin and one of them I would like to talk about is security of your coins as well as your privacy. Now I think one big issue that many newbie bitcoiners or newbies generally in the crypto space usually have is securing their coins.
If you check you would notice that many newbies can't really decipher what real ownership of your coins really mean too. Some even suggest that they plan to HODL in an exchange. The point is whether decentralised or centralised exchange, they are not safe to store coins.

Now you know that most of the draining that occurs on peoples wallet are not just that their wallets were hacked, it is sometimes that they forget to disconnect their wallets from websites they granted permission in the cause of engaging in one or two activities in the past. Such mistakes can be avoided and averted from occurring if we really take our time to do the needful as at when due. I believe that from your response, this little piece of information has imparted knowledge in you on how to take the safety and security of your wallet and assets serious.

Snip
First look for the forum rules and regulations and read them. And also you should read people posts more than creating and posting. In the process of reading, if you understand any topic and you can make comments then you do it. Always read. And there are two major things in the cryptocurrency ecosystem or space. Investment and Trading. Investment is much more simple than trading but there is risk in it and the risk that that if you invest when the market is high and after investing the price reduced then you will be at the losing side. So you always calculate before investing. Trading needs more studies and training. You can't just enter or start trading without learning how to do it.

Don’t expect too much from your investment and don’t think that cryptocurrency investment or trading are get rich quick scheme. If you’re able to get them right from the first time, you shouldn’t think you’ve won over the market and see yourself as a very smart person. Take time to know how the market works, both trading and investing are going to make you a lot of money but you need to have that right knowledge to know the crypto to invest into and also need the right knowledge to know how to trade the cryptocurrency market. Nothing comes easy, you have to put that performance to get success in whatsoever you do.

I noticed that you sent me a private message trying to familiarize yourself in my DM. First up, as a first piece of advice to you as someone in the cryptocurrency game longer than you are, I advise you to be careful with private messages, especially in a forum like this because not everybody can be trusted. Even though we all look to be here for a common interest, our interests are not common because there are people in this forum with the intention to scam anyone that lets their guard down.

Even aside from scam it could lead to his account being banned. I don’t know about this forum but in Bitcointalk pms could be reported which could make them ban an account.
I thought I was the only one who got the pm that’s why I never mentioned it to the Op, it’s not everyone that actually likes receiving pm - some might just think of it as a spam (since it’s from a low ranked account) and report it and I’m sure they’ll be penalty if it gets reported by multiple accounts.

Yes I do receive some spam pm most times on btt, some unknown users requesting I assist them with funds to help their life or projects. Its best to actually avoid such pm as they are mostly scam trying to lure anyone who falls for their trap. The forum is broad with people from different part of the world, no one can b truly trusted so what every you do on line you have to be careful who you mingle with. Also avoid any deals that isn't official for the forum as you have no way to prove yourself.

Add it to what I have said and others have said, it is better you specified the particular area you want to know so that the contributions would be specific and not in the general terms again. Either in the in investment as I said or in the trading. Those are the two popular areas of cryptocurrency. Then when we come to the technical aspect the mining and Cryptocurrency project development.

To expand on what has been said, it is convenient, and even useful, to try to define for what type of information the user is searching so the contributions are more precise and less general. If you are involved or looking at investing in cryptocurrency then those two industries are the most common and perhaps comprehensible in the crypto markets. However, if readers want to get a bit more specific, there are such important segments such as mining and cryptocurrency project creation that imply different knowledge. If a more general area is chosen, it might cover some aspects you are interested in but will not allow for near as granular examination of the aspects you are interested in or that you want to give insight on.
