In past few months, i hear more people talking about restaking ETH. The concept already exist for some time, but it's getting popular since EigenLayer is initially announced. With ETH staking rate slowly decrease (currently about 3%), restaking becoming more attractive to earn more money passively. But i have hard time finding accurate information, especially about APY rate. So have anyone tried restaking ETH? If yes, can you share your experience with us?

I don't have the numbers, but I suspect most of people who are restaking ETH are trying to get a good airdrop
Eigen, Swell, Renzo, Etherfi etc
I'm using mostly Renzo, and my reason was to get an airdrop too, I'm not interested to get the APY to be honest :D :D :D

I intentionally didn't mention it, but it's not surprising you also think the airdrop is more attractive than promised APY. I'm not really interested with the airdrop though, since it demands some time and risk being a new protocol/service. But do you think Renzo airdrop is worth your time? I remember i saw few negative news about it few months ago.

Haha, it's hard to talk about restaking without airdrops ;D
I think I got 50 to 70 USD total from Renzo+Eigen
In my opinion it would be better to invest in another projects to receive a better airdrop, but the money I received is way better than APY, I invested less than 1 ETH in total, so I know it's not a huge amount of money

We know that ethereum is the second position crypto in cryptocurrency world. So i also believe that ethereum achieve it’s popularity huge in cryptocurrency market. We know that ethereum restacking will be best profitable for us. Because if we follow in cryptocurrency market, we can see that within bitcoin, it’s price is high level than others crypto currency. So i think that restacking will be more profitable for us. So i am also expect that for earn more profit, i will be restacking ethereum within a short time.

I have few questions,
1. Why do you think ETH restaking will be best profitable for us? After all, i can't even APY number where some website state either 0% or very high %.
2. Since you plan to restaking your ETH, which service, wallet or platform you'll use?

We both acknowledge that Ethereum is, today, one of the most valuable cryptocurrencies in the world – the second one – and it only gains more and more popularity every year. Taking into consideration the activity of the crypto market, Ethereum’s re-arrangement can be really lucrative in this case, especially taking into consideration the high frequency of the value changes. In contrast to Bitcoin, which costs considerably more, Ethereum offers a good chance to make much greater profits. If we track the market trend closely this re-arrangement just may prove to be beneficial in terms of profits. If we take this step in the near future then it will unlock further possibilities in our crypto investment.

Is re-arrangement the same thing as restaking? Are you suggesting that re-staking is a good option because ETH prices fluctuate highly, hence why it's easier to gain profit because Bitcoin is more expensive so it's hard to gain passive income? I don't think Bitcoin or ETH price will influence the return that much tho. I don't think using this to choose ETH over Bitcoin is also a good reason. I believe network activity is probably a higher factor that affect how much you get from staking your ETH. CMIIW.

In my opinion, restaking ethereum for APY reward earning not profitable yet including many top exchange market have lower APY reward but if you want restaking for earning ability get qualify on airdrop is worth it. Just have spend many ethereum on several kinds platform with large opportunity to earn or qualify at airdrop later.
Usually many new platform not announce yet firstly criteria for qualifying airdrop but not problem as holding better staking ethereum and checking which one most potential side will allocated airdrop for Ethereum staking. I have any amount of Ethereum keep hold it until right now after buying at higher price and still looking for best staking side offering airdrop reward one day later.

Usually, airdrops of staking plataforms only requires you to stake some ETH and that's it
Like Swell, Renzo, Etherfi, Eigen...
The sad part is that you have to put some good amount of ETH to stake, otherwise you can get dust if airdrop is linear

I farmed Swell with good money and still the airdrop has been dust, lol. Only good thing good about this 'park your money' projects is your capital remains intact and you withdraw it at end of the day.

..If the project is credible, that is ;D

I didn't farm swell, but I thought it was good airdrop for stakers
Instead of swell, I farmed Renzo trying to achieve a good amount of Eigen points, but it was almost dust for me too
At least did you get EigenLayer airdrop?

Swell do have more rewards pipelined for those who are continuing to stake and those who were identified as sybils — their allocations will be distributed back to genuine users. So, it could get better than it is now.

Yes I did.

This is good, maybe you'll get a good amount in the end, because there's tons of sybils farming airdrops
Eigen 1st season was very good because everyone eligible received at least 100 Eigen tokens, at least 300 USD, but I only got a few tokens in Season 2 because of Renzo
So, it wasn't good enough for me hehehe

Can anyone explain or give some reference about what is restaking? First time I heard about it.
I saw on my Trezor wallet that there is an easy option to stake ETH. Or is there a better possibility for passive earn from holding ETH?
btw. Because of some weird case, I got and hold some Ethereum, although I have never been a big fan of it. That's why I've been following it a little more lately and I have to admit that ida is much more boring than Bitcoin and I really don't see it as worth holding in the long term. I'm thinking of converting it to something else, maybe SOL or something else.

In short, it's a way for you to make 2 simultaneous stakes
You can stake ETH and instead of stopping there, you can use that stake to secure another protocol, like EigenLayer for example.
You can even consider it leverage
The upside is the potential gain in two protocols, but there are 2 risks
Are you thinking of restaking via the ETH network?

Because many people are looking for airdrops,it's not surprising that many people stake because they want to get that airdrop.

I’ve also heard about restaking when diving into DeFi, and EigenLayer is the most prominent example. It has a pretty interesting model and can potentially offer high returns, but I decided against participating in EigenLayer. The fragility of restaking has become apparent over time, and people's FOMO for this trend has subsided. Current restaking projects are struggling to survive and build more sustainable models, naturally offering lower returns to investors.
Staking and LSDs have already inflated the perceived value of assets several times over. Restaking & LRDs exacerbates this issue and we could witness fake TVL, similar to the DeFi scandals on Solana in the previous cycle. I'll leave the restaking opportunities to other investors, I'm content with the raw ETH returns in this bullrun ^^
