Post by: SmartGold01 on October 19, 2024, 09:35:05 AM
Just as the title has expressed it all, and I would want to know how important and very necessary we have been taking our gambling habit serious. Like our overall performance, behavior attitudes and environmental impact of our gambling behaviors;

such as what people says about you, how your family talks about you or are you gradually becoming a problems to your family?
Or are you finding yourself not to stay without gambling for 4-10 hrs per day, weeks and so on?
Are you having less time for other activities whereby giving your work less priority and making gambling your utmost importance than your work and home?

If yes then it's imperatively to narrow down your eagerness, and activeness towards gambling as you have already fallen into addiction and if you find yourself into this conditions then you need to reduced.

What to do;

This is the only way we can control addiction by regular releasing post like this for people to learn and make their corrections. You can add your let the discussion continue. Note that this post has already been made on the other forum as op.

Controling addiction can just be the start of quitting gambling. It is however not the option of some people with money. Celebrities who've been into gambling addiction found out almost too late to quit but tmost probably they ask help too late as well.

If they read some articles about how their gambling habits are and how gambling has took most of their time over something more important then it would have helped reduced the gambling time.

my theory is that it’s because rich people take longer time to see the consequences of their actions compared to poor people it takes longer for them to go through their stack of money basically so they end up getting in too deep and not realizing how far they have gotten until they hit the bottom

meanwhile poor people easily ruin their lives by gambling excessively

  • Get an allocation of funds to gamble1. I mentioned this on my other topic created before, when the funds are exhausted do not use any other funds to gamble till the months ends
This is very important but it is good to also include the amount in percentage. As for me I prefer to use 2% of my money to gamble. Not from all my money but from the money I earn that week or month to gamble that week or month and I will not spend more than that. If I earn $250 in a week, I only use $5 to gamble.

This has been my advice for anyone who even gambles for fun because if you make gambling the only activity you do for fun, you will become addicted very easily. To avoid addiction find other activities that you can interchange for fun so that you do not only gamble when you want to have fun. No matter how in control you think you can be, gambling as your only activity for fun can change you over time into an addicted gambler, bad thing is at first, you will keep justifying it, that you are not addicted.

Personally, I will find something to do so that there is no time to gamble again, even if I have the intention to gamble, I will definitely get tired and think that tomorrow there is still work to be done,
but theory is easier said than done in practice in reducing gambling
but if the intention is firm, I will definitely stop, even if it is slow

Gambling behavior become alarming if it becomes the priority of an individual; gambling should never become the first thing that an individual should think of most of the day.
It should be least of the priority of an individual and should treat gambling as a form of entertainment and not something that one can make a living, and an individual should check from time to time if gambling is something that interupt his normal living.

Well for me personally I already have moved on from something that is uncontrolable like having less time with our family and friends becuase of excessive gambling activities. Same as I am once addicted to mobile games I can now control myself and give enough time to myself and family because I realize it has nothing good gains in the long run but instead I make myself away from family and friends and will not make my precious time productive.

For me I keep track on my money even if i bet in small amounts everytime i lose i stopped because i think that these money can be used for something useful than losing it on a bet that helped me to not gamble for a while now and i use extra money.

Yes, I did that to my previous post which I already included the percentage, depending on the amount people earn per week/ months. There are people who earned higher than others so, 0.9-5 percent is ideal enough to use to gamble and if their allocation is exhausted for the week/month the it's very important to distance the gambling/casino site in order not to be attracted to gamble anymore. One thing about gambling site is that when they are gambling and ran out funds there is this boldness that would pushed someone to say 'i might win this very last chance' so that person would be pushed to fund their casino account to repeat what he had lost again.

I have heard many stories about those who, after losing their limit, immediately grabbed their credit card in a fit of rage and frantically topped up their account. After all, such a gambler was emotional and wanted to win back as quickly as possible. Often they then say "it was as if I was in a foggy state" and sit looking at their updated bank account.

The truth is that most people has fails in their perspective on what they thinks about gambling because the later results always ends the other way, that is why it's important not to feel too relaxed while gambling or even giving gambling the attention it doesn't required, because when much value is placed that is not only the fun aspect of it then automatically the person is recreating another feelings and mindset to gambling and if the results didn't come as expected then they got affected by gambling and to that of the results.

The perception people have when gambling mostly involves false expectations, and when the gamble doesn’t favor you, then it alters the perception people have about gambling . It is crucial to keep some breath, not go into an overdrive but not to overemphasize things either. As soon as we begin to find another reason to gamble other than the fun element, we find ourselves in an area where every result is far more important than it should be. When we have the ability to keep us informed of our strengths and weaknesses as well as set the appropriate objectives, it is easier to avoid taking wrong outcomes personally.

I guess it's better if you will not engage yourself in gambling, period. However, if you have been into it, one way could be that you just play when you have budget and that's it. As least in my case this is how I control it, I will do have to budget and prioritized things first and if there is some money left for me then maybe I will gamble it. Or it the budget is tight, then I won't. Lessons that I learn is that we shouldn't look at gambling that is something like a regular job that will consistently giving you salary, it is not. So it's better to really control ourselves, maybe other days we will win, but most of the time, it going to be losses for us. So just maintain yourself and just treat gambling as fun and entertainment.

You really brought an important issues here as gambling is now a problem in our society today as many people struggle between their work and gambling, checking once gambling habit can help regulate and control people attitude to gambling, today the issue of Addiction is very common among gamblers as many can't do with betting in a day making it a problem not only to themselves but also to their families and friends as they are mostly seen as people who have lost their ways . People should critically ask themselves important questions like is gambling the way forward for me , what are people saying about my gambling way of life and am I really making gain rather than loosing if one can answer these few questions then he or she can control and have a balance between gambling and other aspects of life

Yes, have a clear cut budget for gambling is good, but still there needs to be self control as well as we might thinking of depositing for more if we lost our money. So currently, I have just a small budget for gambling, just enough for me to bet on sports.

It might be as little as $10.00 for me and then hope that it can grow.

Good to see some thread like this, at least some wake up call to check our gambling habits and control it.

So +1 to the OP.

Distraction is important, as you have mentioned. When a gambler is constantly distracted or preoccupied with work or family, he will spend less time gambling. This will help him avoid addiction.

When a gambler is idle, he will spend his time analyzing games or playing casino games online. This can easily entice such a gambler into addiction. Addiction develops when a gambler spends a large amount of time gambling and chasing losses.

Gambling is a fun activity, and should be done only when one feels like having fun, and in some cases when on is bored, allocating the right proportion of time and resources for gambling will help one minimize the risk of getting addicted to gambling. For some, they’d rather gamble once or even twice a week whenever they feel bored, and the rest of the times they wanna have some fun, they tend to turn to other means of having fun. I mean there are several ways people can have fun right, rather thinking of gambling whenever one is bored or after exhausting your allocated fund for gambling for that week, one could consider, other means, like going out for a drink with friends or family or other possible means. At least that way, one can be able to regulate the time and resources one puts into gambling thereby limiting the chances of addiction.

Have you allocated a percentage of your money from payday for gambling?
For a family man who wasn't introduced to gambling yet, allocating funds for gambling isn't part of their accounting sheets.

Which it could mean that it's not normal for them to allocated a little funds for this activity.

I think, We all desire to be entertained not harmfully or offend someone. Sometimes, when gambling is entertaining, it is difficult to realize that you have gone too far with it. Budgeting or perhaps partitioning time and money is a measure which has to be taken so that this sort of an activity does not take a toll on the human. Thus, people who can have theirs entertainment and recreation in several ways, turn out to be stable, do not practice addiction, and, at the same time, find the zest in many things. On one hand, positive activities, and on the other- maintaining priorities: healthier happiness and control according to the need for an ideal and happy life.

This is the major area people don't pay attention to because they felt is nothing and they can't becoming addicted, lets take myself as for instance; Most time I am being distracted and preoccupied with my children and couples with domestic house chores making me not to be that active here or the other forum and it is when I would get free before I could have time to come read and comment over here. Okay, let us equate it as gambling, do you think I would still have that time to predicts and analyzed matches or even come to play some casino games while I still have such duties at home? No, because I can't leave those things while it keeps increasing for me so, instead I will look for a way to sorts those things out before I may even think of giving attention to online or following up any event here.

+1 for you

Not allocating the appropriate amount to gambling, whether as a family man or a single, could result to excessive gambling or excessive spending on gambling. Except of course you’re not actively participating in gambling activities and you only engage in the activity once in a while, but if you’re the kind of person that gambles every week, the. It’s very important to set aside a particular percentage of your earning to gambling to avoid overspending or spending your discretionary income on gambling activities.

  • Do not budget of hitting millions or billions through gambling, just be positive and gamble with expectations to hit anyone it could be higher or lesser.
  • Give much priority to your work and field of study than gambling

Both points are very valid. One of the problems with gamblers is that they expect too much from an activity based on luck. Some gamblers believe that gambling is their only way forward, so they chase millions day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year, hoping that one day they will reach their goal.

Unfortunately, a gambler is not compensated for how long he has gambled. A newbie can simply show up and win big, whereas an experienced gambler has not had such a big win. Additionally, a gambler must obtain employment. Work and earn. There is dignity in labor. A worker is guaranteed his wages, so rather than relying on gambling to become wealthy, it is more profitable for such a gambler to work, save, and invest in order to achieve his goals.

Yes it's very important to factor out the necessary jobs to keep us earnings than just depending on a total of gambling to obtain and sustain a living. What we must know is that people shouldn't give much attention to gambling because of us how it easily captured someone attention to keep gambling with the hope that something very huge is by the corner without knowing that winning is not guaranteed instead would end up losing on a regular basis. With family and other activities which gets someone distracted from gambling would make such person to reduce their attention and never becomes gambling addicts.
