The war between the SEC and Ripple has been going on for years. It was recently ruled that Ripple did not violate Federal securities law during sales, however, the SEC filed an appeal and asked for a postponement of the final decision. The whole thing looks like a telenovela and as far as I know it has been going on for years.
If there is someone of the reliable XRP supporters here, can he provide information on whether there is somewhere a history of this conflict, from the beginning to the present day? I'm interested in something from there, it would be useful if I had a simpler insight into the process.

You can find detailed information about the SEC vs. Ripple lawsuit in these online sources. I'll attach links to articles on Investopedia and Cointelegraph.
In a nutshell, the SEC alleges that Ripple was selling unregistered securities. The lawsuit was initiated by former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton just before he left office. Interestingly, the person appealing the recent ruling is SEC Enforcement Director Gurbir Grewal, who is also preparing to leave the SEC.
We don't know the specifics of the appeal yet, but the outcome of this case will be hugely significant for the US crypto market. I hope Ripple wins and that XRP sets clear standards for when a token won't be considered a security.
