Inoue will once again defend his unified title against Sam Goodman in Tokyo on Christmas Eve. While this may seem like a one-sided affair on paper, the fight is expected to generate a substantial amount of money, as Japanese fans are eager to spend just to watch their hero in action.

I read a report that HE Turki has signed Naoya Inoue to a contract worth 3 billion yen, not for a fight but for a commercial. This could be the beginning of a collaboration between HE Turki and Team Inoue, and who knows, we might see Inoue fighting in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next year.
-
Bad news for boxing fans, this fight is officially off as Sam Goodman suffers a cut over his left eye in his last days of sparring.

So definitely this fight is not going to happen on the scheduled date. So not sure how Inoue will take this one as he said that next year he will be fighting in the US and going up in the next division.
Either they will have to find a replacement for Sam Goodman, or Inoue totally not fighting in December 24.

Things like this happen, so he will have two options: not to push with the fight or take up a substitute. I remember Pacquiao was a replacement for a fighter when Ledwaba's opponent cancelled the fight, so they ship in Pacquiao, and the rest is history, but I doubt if any fighter will take in Goodman's place; even Casimero will decline the offer. Inoue is too good for a short period of preparation.
Its likely that inoue will just cancel this fight and move on to the next division

I don't think this would definitely work out again because of cut on his eyes, Sam Goodman has to take good care of himself otherwise that could be used as defensive point and as well as attack point. So the best is to reschedule the fight to suit when both are in a good health than that of one having any injury on them.
-
The latest on this is that there will be no replacement fighters as the original bout was moved to Jan. 24, 2025 in Tokyo (https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/42957624/naoya-inoue-title-bout-vs-sam-goodman-moved-jan-24). It's the most logical choice for both fighters to settle this to avoid possible drama/complaints in the future. A fight in January won't affect Inoue's plan to fight in the US next year that much.

This is not a good sign for the mat h to continue due to that cut. But if that wasn't happened I think Goodman's accuracy, footwork and an aggressive style of boxing will change Inoue's plans of taking down the Ausie guy though they are both power puncher but only one will surely win the only problem is what had happened to Goodman's eye so hopefully we will wait until he can recover that cut and we'll witness how good the match we can get from these two boxers.
-
For Goodman I think the cancellation of the bout will be good. I don't think there will be lots of people going to watch on Christmas day.
Some would say Goodman cuts himself for the fight to be rescheduled. They could be right about it but they could pick a better date than on Christmas day. It be reasonable to chose on Feb to allow the wound to heal.

There is, at least for the Japanese. They have this tradition every end of the year that they have a good fight and so this year, Inoue is the main headline and he can fill up stadiums very easy.
Nah, I do no buy those kind of excuses saying that a boxer intentionally cut themselves so that the fight is not going to happen. It doesn't matter whether it's Christmas or whatever holiday it is. This is professional athletes and this is their job to bring food in the table for their families.

As what Baofeng have said, there are a lot of Japanese fight fans who are waiting for their ido Inoue to fight this Christmas eve and Japanese fans are willing to spend money just to enjoy watching this fight. Sam Goodman was their choice because he is a bit popular in Japan as he has a couple of fight over there and have defeated Japanese fighters too. I don't know if this will be reschedule to a latter date because Team Inoue has their timeline and next year they are going to fight in US soil so this means that Goodman won't be in the list as an opponent in Vegas.

And if you check the date of the fight in sports bookies, it says January 24. So it could be a hint that this fight has been moved, and there will be no substitute fighter for Inoue as he will just wait for Sam Goodman to heal 100%.
Perhaps Inoue is more disappointed though as he wanted to show his fans a good fight as again, this is a tradition for them to have great fights to close the year.

Absolutely because Christmas eve and New Years Eve are the times of the year where they held big fights in Japan and Inoue is very eager to perform on that night but suddenly it was postponed, not a good news for him. There is no news yet for the postponement, maybe they are looking for a replacement fighter so that Inoue could fight on that date, we will wait for that news.

It's official that the fight is going to be moved on January 24, 2025,

So crypto based gambling sites got it right as they have change the schedule to January 24 already. So Sam Goodman will take a rest and have that healed, and maybe Inoue taking a break so that not to overtrained.

Inoue is in a better position now; he can lie low with his training, while Goodman should see to it that his cut will not worsen. One month is not that long for a cut to fully heal, and Inoue will target that spot because he knows the time is not enough for the cut to fully heal.
Inoue will likely win on this one and he needs to step up to another division as there is a lack of opponents, and the only opponent who can give him a real opposition is someone he avoid fighting.

So this fight is coming, so for sure Inoue has intensified his training already after the new year. And there are images of him showing how he is ready and looks sharp.
I do agree, that this could be just formality and then he will go up in weight and then fight is the US because thats what we have been asking from him. So at least this year, he might debut again in the US at 126 lbs.

This fight will push through but Naoya Inoue has a different dancing partner as Sam Goodman suffer another injury and per report he needs plastic surgery to fully heal the injured part. The replacement opponent is Ye Joon Kim. a Korean boxer with a record of 21-2-2 with 13 of that win coming via knockout so i think with that KO ratio i think Inoue will demolish this guy.

Yeah, it's going to be the South Korean who will replaced Sam Goodman as his re-injured his cut again. Just too bad for him as we all know that he will not get his chances to fight Inoue as there are reports that Inoue will move up to 126 lbs and fight in the US.
For Ye, a big opportunity for him to fight one of the best in this generation, but I do not see him pulling a upset here. Most likely he will get knockout just like the rest of Inoue's opponent in the past.

Below are some of the options on what to bet for this fight. It is just interesting to note that the bookies believed that this could end early but personally i think this could last at least six rounds so for me that "over 3.5 @1.86" is really attractive.

We had a fight today as both boxers made it to the scales with Inoue weighing 121.8 lbs while Ye Joon Kim weighing 121.7 lbs. This fight would end via knockout for sure and betting for it on the bookies is not attractive as you will only win a penny for your hundred dollar bet. So i'm betting that this fight would end in 4-6 rounds with an odds of 2.96.
Good luck everyone and hope you will enjoy the fight today.

You are right mate, it was over in 4 rounds, and so if you got the over 3.5, still good bet and congrats to you. I skipped the fight and didn't bet though, I just waiting for it to happen and see if Inoue will really go up in weight in his next fight.
Kim wanted the action and so Inoue give it to him a solid right hand and Kim went down and was not able to get up.

Just got a feeling mate that the fight would end in 4-6 rounds and luckily it did hehe. Got this one with an odds of 2.96 :). With the fight over i hope we can now see Inoue fighting opponents that have more resistance to him, i mean that the fight itself is competitive and not know who gonna win.

+1, great pick and that's what also Inoue said after that fight, that in the beginning, he was feeling Kim because he was just a replacement fighter and they don't have enough time to study him.
So that's what the did, study and read him during the fight itself and that's how good Inoue is.
And again, with this win, he should be fighting in the US next.
-
And again, with this win, he should be fighting in the US next.
No more next fight for him in Japan and fighting in the US soil is the way to go for him. Just wonder though who he will be fighting next. I don't think that Top Rank will matched him against Brandon Figueroa as he is much bigger that Naoya Inoue.

He can go with a lesser-known boxer like Leo, but whoever he is going to fight in the featherweight division, the biggest question is: can he carry his power and can he maintain the speed?
Because he is fighting boxers that are natural featherweight, its better that he he had a tune-up fight so he can condition his body in that weight, so when he is comfortable, he can challenge for the title.

No, all of this champions at 126 lbs, I think has a chance to beat Inoue.
Leo is very though, he knockout former champion Angelo Lopez . And I also thought thata Angelo Lopez will give Inoue a hard fight. Although Lopez thinks that he can take the punch and not play defense against Leo.

I also think the same that either Lopez or Leo will give Inoue a hard time on this featherweight division. Now i have a clearer picture on who's Inoue will be fighting next, it could be Leo or Lopez because both are under the promotion of Top Rank, maybe Inoue would take Lopez first before taking on Leo.
BTW, thanks for the video mate.
