Title: Are Talent Moves Going to Reshape Crypto Exchange Landscape?
Post by: akeemqaz on October 30, 2024, 08:02:36 PM
Layely, Crypto exchanges have been hiring experienced professionals to bolster their teams. This trend is common across the industry as crypto platforms aim to strengthen their capabilities and market positions.
The hiring of diverse talent is likely to accelerate the exchanges' global presence and strengthen their competitive positions.

I won't mention any exchange but what are your thoughts on this development and how it may impact the crypto exchange landscape? Also do you know of any new hire that can bring a positive impact to a particular exchange?

It's interesting to see the increasing trend of crypto exchanges hiring experienced professionals. This could potentially lead to more sophisticated products and services, as well as enhanced security measures.

However, it's important to remember that the crypto industry is still relatively young and subject to significant regulatory and market risks. It remains to be seen how these new hires will impact the overall landscape of crypto exchanges.

I sure hope it leads to better security and reliability. Hiring talented engineers means nothing if the executive plans to milk the users as much as possible. We saw this happening in other industries like gaming, entertainment, etc. A competitive market is a good thing since it means users will get better service unless all of them decide to offer terrible products because they don't get any complain at all.

Also do you know of any new hire that can bring a positive impact to a particular exchange?
Do you mean high-profile hire like a new CEO? I mean all high-profile positions can affect the exchange's image on the market. Ambassadors can be a thing too. They're quite effective in attracting new users to use a service even if they're not familiar with crypto. CMIIW.

I can understand that if it is part of the platform's marketing strategy but if this is the main goal of the platform then I can see what happened with FTX as the best evidence that the platform needs more than marketing to success

Some months ago, Coinbase was reported to mass sack about 300+ employees as their services weren't needed anymore. Whatever trend the exchanges are using to employ some of this guys is that very soon, they are going to do the same because trend in crypto changes and when that doesn't seem to add to their revenues, they change immediately.

There are good days in crypto which is now and there bad days in crypto which is the bear market, we will see the both and these things are not permanent, they can do and undo as it sweet them for that time.

This is the nature of all businesses, they are waves and 30 years ago most of the current companies did not exist, Google, Meta, Microsoft and other services laid off thousands of workers, however we cannot say that Microsoft or Meta are not profitable companies or that their services are no longer in demand.

You made valid points here. Although, there is different kinds of employees or level of employees. But your points are valid for most levels.
And as you have said, they can also undo which is one very easy thing for them as well.
For now, seems there is a race of getting more awareness from exchanges which leads to rapid highering from them.

I don't think they change high-profile hires that quickly though. I think most of these layoffs are done because the CTO/CEO or somebody else thinks they need to cut costs. Not necessarily because they don't make a profit anymore, but because their profit isn't growing as fast as expected. On the other hand, they will enjoy a huge bonus and if they exit that position another company is lining up to hire him again. At least that's how I see it in other industries such as gaming, not sure if the market is the same with crypto exchanges/business. I'd say that marketing has always been the focus for most companies, even some obscure tier-3 exchange managed to buy an ad spot on La Liga a few years ago. They failed to grow and went bankrupt tho.
