in every country, it is inevitable that the president and the vice president comes from different political parties with this said they should still be able to work together and properly for the sake of the country
interesting matters happening in the Philippines right now where the president and the vice president who were in one political party during the election are now turning in on each other they both supported and endorsed each other they won by a landslide and now it seems like the government is unstable due to their differences it was even reported that they don’t talk to each other anymore
the vice president went public and said that if she were to ever die, they should look for the president and have him assassinated (https://news.sky.com/story/philippines-vp-sara-duterte-says-she-will-have-president-ferdinand-marcos-jr-assassinated-if-she-is-killed-13258924)
how crucial it is for the president and the vice president to be able to work together despite differences? what could be the massive consequences of having two leaders of the country hate each other and publicly make threats?
-
Actually this is the first time I'm hearing that some countries the president and the vice president are from different parties. In my country it can never happen that way that the president and the vice president are from different parties.
That one would result to a great war even just after 1 week of swearing them in.
The case of the Philippians I think maybe it is a case of demanding and maybe because the vice is a woman. But I don't really know.

Down here, a presidential candidate chooses who will be his vice or let me say that, the party brings out the president and the vice. It's not possible for two different party to be in power at the same as a president and a vice president. However, the president is the number one citizen in the country and has the final say in the country. The vice doesn't have any power when the president is on seat. Similar thing happened in my country and the vice left the office, while the president continued ruling.

Different countries have different kinds of government that they practice because where am from both president and vice must come from the same party it's someone that Can be loyal to the president that will be chosen to become the vice president for the sake of loyalty because problem will always come up when you have someone from another party as the vice president because there will be class of interest as the both leaders are from different parties so they will be having different opinions on national matter's because they belongs to different parties with varying opinion so the case of Philippines your talking about is a class of power and who wants to control the government
-
Are you referring the opposition leader as vice president?
Vice president is someone who is choosen by the elected candidate for president and they will work together because no one is going to pick someone if they are not sure about their cooperation.
Meanwhile there are still many countries have different political system like prime minister holds the most powerful than the president.

It is ideal but things don't always go as they wanted. If one of them changes their goal when seated in the office, then expect a rift to form. In the case of the Philippines, I believe this has turned out to be loyalty to family (and backers) vs. loyalty to the country. I think the VP tried her best to keep the spirit of the 'UniTeam' but the other party pushed her too hard to achieve their political interest and now she's fighting back.
The economic impact could be catastrophic if this escalates further but you know, investors are already leaving or the pledges are not fulfilled/realized because of President's decisions. It's more dangerous for them to invest in a country that's likely to be another country's cannon fodder.

President and Vice President are voted separately in the Philippines.

in every country, it is inevitable that the president and the vice president comes from different political parties with this said they should still be able to work together and properly for the sake of the country
This is definitely wrong and you should really give examples about this inevitable stuff!
First is that in most countries in which there is a president and a vice president the vice president is nominated by the president alone, so it will not be from the other party, second is that a lot of countries don't have a vice president but either a prime minister or speaker of the house.
So this entire topic starts from a false premise!

Actually, that's the kind of government system we have, both position is elected by the people regardless what party they came in, it's the popularity vote. In the last admin both (Pres and VP) have different parties. This time, current admin different party too but signed an agreement to unite these parties "UniTeam" and then run as one, then both win. But sadly things got bitter for both started to show the stench of their political agenda, personality, and so on.

it’s not ideal for sure but is it impossible in your country? is it because of the way the election is done or do the people of your country really just loyal to one party? in my country this is not so uncommon the last president and vice president were also from opposing parties and didn’t have each other as their respective president and vice
The case of the Philippians I think maybe it is a case of demanding and maybe because the vice is a woman. But I don't really know.
what does the vice president being a woman have to do with anything? even if the vice was a man and he was in opposing party he and the president would still clash

in other country, whenever they vote a president they also vote for its vice.
its only in our country where the president's party is different from the vice. its intentionally done by the oligarchs in the country to make it easier to destabilize whenever the president doesn't go with their choices.
Bongbong, obeys them cuase if he don't he ends up like how his father being kicked. those oligarchs must have offered the wealth of late Marcos Sr. be returned if he just allow the oligarchs get even with the Dutertes.

I've been reading that it's the US that made a promise to unfreeze those frozen 'fruits'. It's the reason why we have their military bases here now. I think Sarah's opposition to bongbong's foreign policies that attacks on her started (e.g. allowing afghan refugees here). As for the local oligarchs, they are definitely milking bongbong's presidency right now. He seems to have a heavy baggage like FPRRD said.
There were also some posts going around that 'loyalty checks' were distributed to members of the congress in support of the speaker of the house and the president ;D

In my country, having a president and vice president from different political parties is not practical. Different political parties have their own ideologies and plans they want to implement when in office. Since the constitution allows for these two offices to be occupied by members of different parties, it should also include clear ways to resolve conflicts that may arise between them due to their differing interests. If such conflicts are left unresolved, they could harm the country's economy and its people
-
Well yeah what's happening in the country right now is I think because of the oligarchs personal interest and there are actually a lot of things that happened though I am not a political type of guy but based on what I have observed the administration is trying to kick the Dutertes team out of power they are trying to cripple it's foundation because somebody's dictating the President to do something against the Dutertes because look who are those people that critizes him on social media and on television it's likely the previous opposition and those rebel front that is in the congress. The country is full of BS right now I mean chaos we are facing threats both external and internal and yet politicians are busy throwing sh|t at each other, instead of working as a team to help the country great again!

In my own country and under the political settings, the president and his vice do comes from the same political party, except for other settings or organizations whereby this is not permitted, because they both stand out to have campaigned together under the same political party, i don't know if there are other settings whereby this different parties is being applied, but in my own country, that is the norms.

Doesn't really help when you're not saying which country it is and I have to figure it out, but again, you are wrong on your own issue.
Your president and vice-president were running mates, it doesn't matter what party they were if they chose to be allied, they were registered as the same alliance, what you were talking about being from the opposition would be a combination of Marcos and Pangilinan which obviously didn't happen!
So again, it's not inevitable at all, look at India, look at Argentina, and there are dozens more.

In our previous administration, the president and vice president are also on opposing parties.
It's very crucial, but there's nothing that we can do about it if they are opposed with one another. The bad thing though is that there's death threats already that's being said unlike in our previous administration where even though they're opposed, no harmful words or death threats are being thrown. TBH, it's a bit concerning to see a former tandem ending up like this, but as a citizen, is there anything that we can do about it? Nothing, but to just criticize, say our opinion on social media and move on. That's it. At the end of the day, we as voters voted for them so it's our fault that we voted the wrong politician.
As for me, I'm already stacking up some popcorns here while watching these dramas that are happening here and there. :D

that’s the unfortunate thing there’s nothing we can do but watch our government crumble from the inside everyone is taking sides and the government is so divided right now there’s a lot other pressing matters happening in our country but they are too focused fighting with each other
As for me, I'm already stacking up some popcorns here while watching these dramas that are happening here and there. :D
can’t say i enjoy this drama since livelihood and safety of people are at stake here this is not normal behavior and thus should not be tolerated

You should have done your research first because not all countries are like yours. A political system where the president and the vice president do not come from the same political party will definitely breed chaos because even in political systems where the president is the one that selects the vice president, we have still seen cases of issues between them that have led to more friction in governments, talk less of when the two people who happen to be the two highest ranking individuals in the country are from different political parties that have different ideologies about governance. I think that needs to be changed, Presidents should be able to nominate and select their vice; it should not be imposed on them.

you are right we have different political systems in the country and in my country where democracy is what prevails, the people can choose or elect someone from any political party
i would disagree that the president have to nominate their vice president because using my country as an example democracy should always be followed there’s no democracy involved if the president chooses his own vice president because that’s not who the people chose

In my country there are many supporting parties for the president and vice president, maybe in each country there is a different political system adopted and the way of freedom of speech to choose the president and vice president, even though they are from different parties as long as they serve there is no word of disharmony even though there is they do not show it to the public

Here in my country propaganda are insane and run by powerful politicians instead of helping the people about the truth they spread fake news that will result in chaos for both party it won't literally help but just worsen the unstable situation. Media here are bribed to create instability in the economy and security both from internal and external source of fundings. Manipulation here is quite common especially in politics plus corruption which is one of the most disastrous issue happening not only imy country is facing right now but also others.

these have been on the news everyday since the time BBM sits on the malacanang. from quiboloy to sarah to digong with ICC. the Philippians government is really going nuts.
they never even talk about the coming war where the EDCA sites are being built in a hurry in the Cagayan. and they even put mid range missile in Loag just to make threats to China.
wala man lang nag object nito. at ang sabi ni Gibo ay dito raw ilalagay ang mga KAGAMITAN ng nga kano. ;D

Every country has their political systems, I guess maybe it's because the vice president is a woman and they both have a disagreement on something which lead to misunderstanding.
And since the vice president is a woman maybe the president will said he will not follow her way or advice, forgetting the right of equality. Just because they are in different parties don't mean they should discriminate. they have to build mutual understanding between them and collaborate to bring development to their country.
In my country, the members of each party vote to the candidates that will represent their party in the final election as the presidential and vice presidential candidate. The chosen individuals will be the official representatives of their political party in general election. The process is called *primary election*, so if you vote for a particular candidate, that means you are also voting for the vice.
I suggest that both the president and the vice president should sort themselves out, because this misunderstanding or disagreement between them will not only affect them, but it will also affect the country at large.

There's really going to be a big conflict if they come from different parties; there should be harmony in how they work. I believe that the system should change and adopt the United States system of when the president wins an election, his vice president should also win regardless of his votes, and this is to have a good working relationship.
Politics in the Philippines is in chaos because it is marred by corruption and based on the news that's coming up the Philippines has a corrupt vice president in Sara Duterte
