do you consider yourself to be a very green person? in a sense that do you think you are environmentally aware or conscious and actually puts it into actions? i am not talking about you having to join protest campaigns against environmentally damaging industries to be green
if you are one that recycles and sorts out his garbage i would say you have a pretty decent amount of environmental consciousness that a lot of people might not have
in a time where climate change is quickly spreading and our planet is suffering more than ever do you consider to be an ally to the environment?
-
Human activities is a big threat to our climate. I am green because I make sure that recycle dirt and keep my environment neat. I once worked as a health ofgicer so I understand what it means to keep the value of our environment by carrying out simple practices to keep your environment safe. However, many people don't care about this because they lack the understanding of the aftermath effects.

Of course everyone should be environmentally conscious and always plant more trees. I believe that factories in green industries are harmful to the environment, especially if they do not use modern machinery. Even if we want to we cannot change everyone, but knowledge about this should be spread among everyone. If everyone takes care of the environment from their respective places then one day we will have a beautiful green environment. Some modern technologies have adverse effects on the environment that need to be controlled.

I am not doing anything hazardous for the environment apart from using air conditioner at my house. :D
Big industries produced a lot of emissions that affected the nature but I guess things were better a lot lately due to the new policies from government. But humans contribute very little to the whole thing, even if we didn't evolved as of now still the nature has its own way of evolving such as climate change.

We have to be environmentally conscious in every settings we found yourself, we should not be too weak in making any decision or making impact over the sustainability of human lives within an environmental settings, we also have to give the best in which we have toward creating a peaceful and friendly environment for everyone to live in, when we are in support of this, it will have a positive impact in us and the people around us to live and have a better life.

Yup.
There's even a saying that whatever we do with nature, they'll also do to us. So, if we're not cleaning the environment or at least contribute by simply recycling and separates our wastes and garbage, they'll return to us in an unexpected ways. Specially in our country, too many floods and that's all because of clogged drainages and garbages that are not thrown properly.

Yes, I do consider myself an environment friendly person. I follow three R's of plastic use (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) — plastic which is most environment damaging thing currently.
.. and FWIW I burn plastic bags (that are not reusable) because if I were to give these bags to government trash pickers, they throw it in water canal — burning is lesser of two evils I find, if you have better way tell me.

both are bad when you throw plastics and it gets to landfills and whatnot it will release toxins in which would affect the soil and the water potentially meanwhile if we burn plastic it will release greenhouse gases that are extremely harmful
i just keep using and using plastics as much as i can to carry things or others and if it is no longer usable i just throw it out while some think that shredding and putting it on a landfill is a lot better than burning

I know it's not perfect solution, and I did mention I just find it lesser of two evils. Even if you burn killograms of plastic, in the end it turns to pretty much nothing, as for bad gases trees are able to soak up those, while if you throw killos of plastic in water or land — it looks miles worse, and if some creatures eat it thinking it's food, it causes unnecessary suffering to them.

I read this post and I must say that human activities and explorations have caused big damages to the green environment. In the course of new technological discoveries, there are no remedies to cushion the environmental side effects with respect to that technology, all they care is a open environment were everything would be absorbed into tin air just like that without looking at the repercussion and its sides effect in years to come. Gas flaring from oil companies, smokes from generators, cars, machines etc all causing depletion of the ozone layers as we now suffer the side effect of it.
Improper discharge or dislodge of plastic wastes, water proofs, hazardous chemicals from industries endangering the marine species and wildlife making some go in extinct and making some leave their supposed habitat to another is release causing more harm than good. These days we see lots of reptiles coming out from the forest into the city and streets and we wonder what is really happening.
The neglect on environmental preservation is causing more harm than good to humans and her environment. There have been lots of disease outbreak as a result of all these and yet no measures put in place to making sure these environmental abuse is put to stop. The situation is even worst in the third world countries/developing countries were environmental health is not taken seriously as the people are just at the survival stage and would do and allow anything to making sure they survive.
It is quite unfortunate that such things are happening and their are little or no remedies all because of mans desire to explore and make discoveries putting the environment and humans at risk.
As for your question, I am green and would ever remain and do everything possible to remain green coupled with the environment I find myself. At my university days I was an elected executive member of The Student wing of the Environmental Society of my country in the state owned university and we were recognized by the school authority. I could remember vividly clear a proposals we submitted to the school authority to permit and support our project on planting trees in campus on the school walk ways, by the road side so as to have a green environment and vegetation and it was approved. I am happy that any time I visit the school I see my efforts in enforcing a green environment.
As you can see, I tried in my little ways to ensure a green environment at school and I have been doing that wherever I find myself.

Yeah, I’d say I try to be green in my way. I recycle, sort out my trash, and avoid wasting stuff. It’s not much, but I think every little bit helps. Pollution’s getting worse and becoming more of a problem every day.

I keep empty water containers together and give them out for reuse rather than disposing of them randomly. I consider that to be environmentally friendly because I understand that they can be reused and are better off disposed of by me by giving them out for reuse instead to the environment where they are not biodegradable. I also fancy the ideas of trees and plants to help in air purification. Also, to help reduce carbon emissions, I am actively exploring the option of switching completely to solar and abandoning the complete use of gasoline generators to balance up our erratic power supply.

I can simply put that i love nature, i am eco-conscious, but i still have a long way to go in contributing to a greener and healthier society. If everyone loved nature, i have a feeling that the world would be a better place than it is today, we might not be where we want to be in terms of the enviroment, but i hope the near future is green.

Sorting garbage, planting herbs, ornamental plants is one of my thing, well, even on aquatic plants for freshwater aquarium too but just like was said above me, i'm still long way to, say fully time contributing on much greener world. Government must be the first one to implement such thing especially those who are pro mining who massively destroy the environment.

If you consider planting trees and other plants as being green, then we can say I’m definitely a green. Many people undermine the importance of trees and plants to the environment and that’s why people indulge in lots of activities that threatens the existence of these plants for their own personal interests, like the excessive cutting down of trees. I’m fully much aware of how much wood production is to the society too, but there should be a limit to how much trees people should cut, because by excessive cutting down of trees, you directly threaten the natural respiratory cycle of life. So I try more to plant trees and flowers around me in an attempt to restore this order.

Surely it is, it is very important to do things like these, people tend to cut down trees or deforest, rather than planting them, so if you do the latter, you are surely 'green' and it is a very commendable act. I hope we can educate the younger generation on things like this, plant a tree when you can and take care of nature everytime.

Indeed, we do need to educate the younger generations on matters as important as environmental protection and sustainability, because many of them do not really understand just how important their environment is to them, and it’s quite unfortunate that some schools fail to provide them with these sort of information, when people take care of their environment, the environment also takes care of them in return, there’s nothing as important as being in a serene environment because the environment you are has the potential to influence you mentally, physically, emotionally, psychologically and even health wise, thus the reason why it’s important to always be as conscious as possible when it comes to environmental protection.

at some point is it still the educational system that has failed? i don’t think people lack in teaching and spreading the information it’s just that people do not care the young generation nowadays are more focused in looking good and whatnot they don’t care about anything that happens around them
thus the reason why it’s important to always be as conscious as possible when it comes to environmental protection.
im afraid that the only time the youngsters will be aware is when the climate change has gone extremely bad that they can no longer ignore what is happening around them

I think the major problem why people, not just the youngsters fail to pay close attention to their environment is because they’re more interested in their own personal interests. That’s why you see people burning carbon into the air without thinking or worrying about the environmental consequences, and exposing everyone around that neighborhood to airborne hazards, and as long as they’re benefiting from that act, they care less about the consequences.

Green house gases are one of the core course of my discipline in school and it's something we do everyday, In fact in my undergraduate project that I did some years, we simulated and optimize a machine that can help the department burn and convert those waste pollution into biodegradable to add ingredients to soil for farm activities and it works beautifully.
We wanted to push the project so the school can fund it but you know how it does end. There was no support and even the one in the department stop working due to lack of maintenance, there was no support but we love the work regardless.

Felling of trees is not bad but not replacing it is what I can say is wrong. In as much as we need the trees for production, it is wise and advisable that we replace them for the ones that has be felled. In my previous comment, I stated it how we were able to execute a project in my university days which is still standing tall till date and any time enter visit my school, seeing it gives me joy that I was amongst the people that initiated that idea and successfully planted the trees in campus. That was how I was able to demonstrate my green nature to the society in which I find myself.
