The holiday is usually a time where a lot of money is spent quickly out of budget because there is a popular saying that I’ve heard that December has no budget which means that budgeting in December is actually not useful, but I do not agree.
What plans have you made to ensure that you do not overspend in this holiday season??

What plans have you made to ensure that you do not overspend in this holiday season??
For years, what we're doing is that, since we are living on a family house, At the start of December, we are talking about the possible foods that we will be cooking during the holiday season and when all is done, we will now divide all of the expenses with one another and whatever happens, we will stick to that expense.
As for myself though and the things that I want to buy during the holiday season, I allocate a portion of my monthly salary to buy something for myself and this time, it's Pokemon Cards. I want to allocate some of my salary to buy some Pokemon cards. :D

I personally do not have holiday season therefore I do not spend more than what I needed though I spent for family only but it is all enough and I prioritize needs rather than wants. I don't even celebrate my birthday, fiesta and other stuff that is not important for survival. I am just a boring type of guy that live simple life peacefully. But maybe if I have extra money of course paying my parents debt would be my first target then next an upgrade for my mobile phone as this is my only tool to make few dollars online.

Well Christmas can be a very expensive time of year for families. This year because all of my immediate family own Bitcoin I will be sending Satoshis to their addresses instead of buying silly presents.

I only spend as much money as I do actually have in bank account — I don't have credit cards, I don't have loans to have the illusion that I have more money than I actually do.
I like to think this helps me with overspending.

You and I are in the same situation. I don't spend on holidays because my family's needs are my top priority. Their happiness matters most to me. I always stick to my budget and avoid overspending, regardless of the occasion. My main concern is ensuring my family's daily survival. I'm cautious about spending, as I'm unsure what the future holds. Given our current situation, it's essential to be frugal and save for the future.
-
Not much plans made here ;D I mean I already set like a ceiling amount in my mind but anything goes on holidays. I find it much better to save up for this occasion and not worry too much about your pockets. You'll most likely just end up stressed if you keep reminding yourself every time you spend.

There is no lie about it, many of the people spend more during the holiday season than normal days, but when we have a desiring plan over what we are going spend our money on, we may not go beyond the budget, everything has to depend on how effective our planning and budget strategies are, as well as the needs we have from the wants, because not all the people can differentiate them under scale of preference.

Its not really that bad on trying out to reward yourself in the end of each year on which buying up something for yourself but as long it is really that inside your budget then i dont see any issues. People do usually that focusing up too much about the price on which we know that we cant be able to measure the happiness that we can have on the moment that we have bought something on which its not bad. Some people are really that skipping out holiday season because they do really love on investing on crypto or any investment before anything else on which it isnt bad also.

I tend to be careful with my budget to avoid overspending this Christmas. I usually limit how much I want to spend on gifts, food, and decorations. I also try to buy stuff when there's a sale or discount. Sometimes, I make DIY gifts to make it simpler and cheaper. It helps me stay on track and enjoy the holidays without stressing about money.

There is no special plan but we must always stick with our allocation for holiday. If we can discipline to stick with our allocation, I think there will be no problem in December holiday. Sure, sometimes we may spend more money for urgent needs but I think it doesn't include to the allocation for holiday. However, I believe everyone has their own way to limit their spending. I'm sure we can avoid overspend if we can try to discipline.

I usually allocate a budget for important holidays (where I need to spend some budget to help my family with the celebration) months ahead. In fact, I never buy expensive stuff on holidays. I bought my PC a few years ago with no discount at all, though the market is not as expensive as it is today. I have regular stores that usually offer discounts outside of holidays too so there's no urgency to buy whenever there's a big holiday there. Sure, I might save more if I wait for a big holiday, but I can't do that for important stuff, like when my phone broke.

Experience is the best teacher; someone who has been through hardship due to holiday spending will learn not to be carried away by the season and save. Part of the reason January appears to be long and difficult is due to unguided holiday spending tied to the seasonal celebration.
Reservations are necessary for anyone who wants to avoid starving himself and his family after the holidays. The conventional saying that "December has no budget," as mentioned by the OP, should not be a guideline for anyone, especially those who rely on a salary or do not have much. Keep in mind the bills that comes in January and be guided.

maybe someone could spend a little more during the holidays if they can afford it its the holidays after all and it’s supposed to be a festive season but unfortunately not all of us can afford to do that as sad as it is we need to control ourselves still and not try to spend more than what we can because it will not end well let’s try to be happy in our own ways during the holidays no need to be always luxurious

The point is to use the funds properly. We don't try to spend money excessively during the holiday because it will be useless. If it is for necessary things, it is no problem to use the money. However, we must know the limit and the allocation for the money in each activity. Spending money during the holiday mustn't bother the funds for basic needs.

We have to be very careful on how we spend on holidays especially now that the economy is not good. This Christmas period by January alot of people would go broke because they never calculated and never scheduled their holiday spending. It is very important to control how you spend on holidays.

We must be careful to spend money in holiday at any time. Moreover in this long holiday, we tend to spend a lot money due to many activities with our big family. However, it shouldn't be a big problem if we adjust our allocation with our capability to spend money. We don't need to follow other people, we must have our own plan to spend money. Sure, making a certain allocation for holiday spending is the way to control our spending during the holiday.

Budgeting and planning is an essential part of life so everything that one tends to do be it festivity or not should be regulated and put in check if not you end up spending more than what you budgeted for this is not economical one thing that will help people to regulate their holidays spending is that festive season's will always come and go and many more holidays are still on the way so you don't need to spend an extra vagant lifestyle just for the purpose of one event that will come and go and you end up squandering your hard earn money and remain hungry for a long time trying to build resources back

When talking about Christmas and New Year presents (we give presents on New Year eve, but some of my friends celebrate Christmas as major holiday, so that on New Year eve they wont feel different, I gave them extra little present) I find it hard to keep in budget. Because I always try to get (if possible) the present that friends and family really await; all that was written in Santas letter. For me such holidays are always spending a lot, even greater than 1 month salary.

Holiday is a period When there's no work, no school, it's a time when people are asked to stay at home to either rest or celebrate. It's a time when lots of people with family tend to spend more money. In some holidays families welcome visitors to there homes and this amount to extra expenses.
So inorder to maintain a spending limit people should be conscious of their expenditure and spend only on necessities

A holiday is a day without work. Actually, it is a day off from work, but on this day some people's busyness doubles. A person has a lot of work accumulated outside the workplace. On a holiday, a person spends the day completing those tasks.

Spending money during the holidays seasons like December is not what someone can easily escape on because that's the time for merriment with families and friends. It's hard not spent much at that time because there will whole lot of celebration happening around and your family and families would like you to support financially as you and them stay around during the holiday period.
Well, many people do mapped out huge money to spend during the holidays. If they really don't have huge money to spend during the festive holiday, they will refused to come back home during the festive period, only to stay back at where they live

What plans have you made to ensure that you do not overspend in this holiday season??
To be sincere I don't even make budget to reduce my spending habits for Christmas, because I know it definitely wouldn't work. Holiday seasons comes with alot of expenses, and apart from this expenses, things are usually very much expensive and before I buy half of what I am supposed to buy, the money would have finish, and I will need to borrow more more

First of all you plan, they said what is plan well is what doing well, if you know you will be spending your holiday with love ones in the Village or any other place and you have in mind to do one or two things for them, is better you start gathering money and saving for that day to come, despite that money is just an Inching asset that when you have it you can't stop thinking towards it, especially when you have a problem at hands to solve but you are keeping the money for something else. But sometimes patients is also required and principal so you don't spend extravergantly. For me I will just minimise my spending and work harder to achieve my goals.
-
Whenever I go for a holiday, it tends to blind spending without regards to how much money I actually have in bank account (thankfully, I don't use credit card otherwise it would be absolute bollocks), so I just stay at home these days as I spend much less that way.
-
Don't spend, there's no better plan. :D
These all are evolved in the last century due to globalisation, and consumerism but still we have to decide whether we want to spend money for the holiday and even if we do then it must be worth it instead of simply wasting. This is what I follow until I becomes rich and doesn't give any shit about the price tag.

Yeah, consumerism at its finest. Those advertisements about sale and all those happy stuff makes people want to spend to be happy ;D The number of social media posts also reinforce the feeling that even people at home are enticed to spend as well.

It’s very important for a while to be with family and loved ones, spending time with them together can bring more happiness, and comfort and can also bring peace of mind, only if you have a good relationship with your families and also spending time with your loved ones can relieve stress and anxiety, that is why it’s crucial to work hard and also prepare for holidays season seriously, so that when the holidays come, you will find it exciting, enjoyable and relaxing with your family members and your friends too.

Budgeting is a complete waste of time this is because during holiday season like Christmas, Easter and so on the prices of things will keep going up, what you bought at a low price today would have double up the next day. And this things are one of the necessities of life and one wi be left with no other option than to just buy it at that high price
Well for me not to overspend during holiday season like Christmas, I ensure that I get all my foodstuff before the Christmas season to avoid story that touches the heart

Now most of the spending happens via online to be honest, people purchase things in Amazon and get delived to their doorstep so they don't have to move at all to spend, all they need is just a credit card and banks are happy to provide you one. :D

There's no time of the year we should not make budget, if we truly don't want to spend without boarder on wants and not needs, as we know, December is a holiday season whereby we all have time to spend being together with our loved ones, hang out and have so many fun, which I believe shouldn't be nee to us any longer, we should plan for it right before the time comes, budget ourselves in surplus in other to enjoy the period without leaving any fun part of it behind.

that is usually the time where people splurge the most but we also have to remember that all throughout the year you still spend on a lot of things for example during the summer you would want to go on a vacation with your loved ones to beat the heat there is still so much more expenses to make before christmas it is not the only holiday
maybe do not splurge in just one holiday but budget all holidays and events accordingly so that you are not rich in one month then poor for the rest of the months
