Title: BUMP in Altcoinstalks?
Post by: dkbit98 on December 23, 2024, 04:31:04 PM
Can admin please add BUMP feature is forum?
This can be used instead of making another post to bump a topic and bring it to the top of the board.

PS
We already have something similar in bitcointalk forum

You have a point, a bump button will definitely be very useful but it seems for now what is still feasible is making use of the regular good old replying to take it to the top. For a business kind of thread it's really retarding especially to customers if only the author of the thread is the one bumping the thread.

I think it's best we wait and see if admin implements it but still I think it would be in selected boards because not all boards will need it.

It really a good idea and it will reduce a lot of spam and post recreation. This will really helps to keep in touch with some thread that have been forgotten for some while ago and it will refreshes the new and old users brain. But trying to implement this depends on the admin we don’t know maybe we will agree with this idea but to my understanding the idea ain’t bad at all.

After all we are doing it for the forum and the community sake. At least many users won’t try to create a post more than once and it will really reduces spam.

If I am not wrong in Bitcointalk the bump feature exist only in the bounties section not on every boards based on that logic we are not yet there here because the number of bounties are hardly a few which means people will not be having difficulty to keep in the first page.

It's not only in bounty section, you can also find it in Services and other boards.
Altcoinstalks can have different boards with this feature, no need to follow bitcointalk in everything.

Good suggestion but there are just too many suggestions and this one to me is the least important IMO. If I run a service thread I won't care much typing "bump " every 24hrs to push my service thread to the top. It takes only few seconds.

At some point we need to accept that we're not going to get every features on BTT on this forum.

I was wondering whether 2FA feature is in your high priority list...!  ::)

If possible, add that one please!

In order for something like this to be functional, other prerequisites are needed that are currently not well defined on Altt. In order to prevent abuse, each user has a different bump power depending on their rank, earned merit... We do not have such a way of categorizing users here, so it would be very difficult to create the right formula by which bump power will be determined.
Another reason why improving the karma system should be prioritized here.

I don't use bump feature a lot in bitcointalk.

Usually there is always something to say about a project when you want to bump it. It could be ask questions about status, news, etc...

But certainly it would be a nice feature to add

In reality, this is not always the case.
For example, I think icopress's bitlist.co ANN thread (on Bitcointalk) should be more visible, but my post there is currently the last one. While I could perhaps provide some other guidance there, that would be writing several posts in a row on my part. Mods are perfectly entitled to merge it all into one post, so it wouldn't be a bump anymore.

An additional problem here on Altt is that users cannot delete their posts, so ordinary "bump" posts are undesirable.

I haven’t really known of a bump button on a thread asides when the OP writes bump to bring up the topic on the first page for forum members to see the information they’re passing. It is definitely as you’ve said it, it is just on some boards and not all boards. Because as long as I can remember the topics I’ve created I haven’t seen it or missed it without knowing about the feature, or I don’t feel the need to use it so I’m not even interested in looking such boards for a feature like that. I think it is a great feature and if it’s also here, it’ll be nice as the OP have suggested.

But I can delete mine! I think someone raised this issues way back last year and I didn't get to see the end of it and what was the admin reply to the proposal. Outside my local board I can modify and delete my personal posts on the English board.

Didn't know this was still a general problem until now.

Really? Maybe it's something on your group membership — mods. As there's no way i can delete my posts on any boards, reporting it to mods will only do the job.

Oh, maybe being a local moderator gave me a little leverage outside my jurisdiction- if I remember correctly, early last year while I was still Mod, I just had the power to modify my posts. If I'm not mistaken, the "remove" posts power was only recently added.. Don't know  ;D

I'm pretty sure it's related to your moderator membership. It would be absurd to be a moderator and not be able to delete spam posts.
I have the possibility to delete my posts, but I unlocked that feature by burning a certain number of ALTT tokens.

Yes I can only delete others spam posts on the local board, the delete power outside of my jurisdiction is for my posts only. I can't moderate others.

personally i think it would be a bit unproductive if there was just a bump button that the owner of the thread can click and make everyone notice his thread again even if it is not relevant anymore at least if someone replies to the thread we know that someone is actually interested in still discussing the topic i do not want to see an old thread that no one really wants to participate in anymore at the top of the thread just because the owner wants his topic to be at the top again

agree nice feature, but not a high priority one
How difficult it would be to implement BUMP in forum?
And can you please tell us what are this higher priorities we can expect to see??

PS
IMO Bump feature would be much more important in AltcoinsTalks than in Bitcointalk forum, because most members can't delete their posts here for free.
