Title: Updating Latest News
Post by: PX-Z on December 28, 2024, 01:58:49 PM
I knew there was a thread already about this issue because it was so outdated, and the voting was done months ago, why change it to different now, e.g., for forum ad bidding thread - https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=326979?

It looks like members and advertisers don't know that thread it exists. It's one of the important or i say most important thread for now as forum needs funds from advertisers too.

I keep seeing a lot of ads and many new ones from time to time

I think advertisers are able to find these threads quickly, or maybe they just send a private message to the admin.

But I agree  this could be more visible

Yeah, i see some different ads too but i feel like no one make bid since i can see no reply on these advertisements bidding thread the same on the last one https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=326110.

But yeah, PM is an option but it confused me how it become a bidding then.

Edit:  i checked there's new reply/bid on the latest one from Royse minutes after i created this thread.

Some of these tasks should be assigned to another member, almost everything is done by admin. Such simple updates do not require much discussion.

I've already said previously that freemind can do, and should do it, unless those privileges have since been revoked. Am surprised this has gotten all the way to the suggestion box tbh.

It is indeed a simple task that simply needs completing, not much else.

Yeah, as there are no changes on the "Latest News." it's been 3 months and 8 days, to be exact, since the election thread was locked. I'm afraid that this will still be the same until the year changes.

And i think those topics pinned in the news lacks information

Everything about ranks links you to many other topics and in the end information is not very well organized.
Anyway, that shouldn't be "news" as it is an evergreen content..

Other than access to passwords, private data, forum software modifications, and writing modifications, global mods should have more permissions such as creating or deleting boards, updating the news feed, moving bar, cheats, and other details. It's good to know that @freemind has some permissions, but giving more to the community will help.

It is true that I have a few more privileges than other global moderators, but I do not have the possibility to modify the referenced section. Even so, I wrote a PM to the administrator asking him to make the necessary changes, but his response was negative for other reasons.

I had forgotten to reply to this thread, sorry.

This is not a good idea... there are quite a few of us and we all have different ideas about how things should be organised. These things are best proposed in the senate in order to gain the necessary consensus to be implemented (as has been the case for many years already). A handful ful of us being able to chop and change the forum is not a stable suggestion, it would likely end up in minor chaos quite quickly.

I do think that there should be others who have some of the basic admin privileges that president get's, such as ex-presidents and vice-president, but alas the situation is as it is  :)

I agree with you on this 100%. The "power" or ability to do certain things should be in the hands of a few people, in this case the administrator and the president (and I am not saying this because I am now president, one day I will not be) since otherwise there would be more problems, especially communication between us. The Senate is the bridge that avoids these problems (mostly) and makes the forum improve in almost all aspects, within our possibilities.

As for what you say about ex-presidents and vice presidents, I suppose it's something we can discuss with the administrator, once again.

This is expected, this is a centralized forum, owned by the admin. He is the one who invested his time and money and took all the risks, so that is it... fair.

I just think that some stuff which most of the estabelished members and veteran from other forums agrees are not getting implemented, which may hurt forums grow in long term.

things are very easy now with the arrival of mixers... I think this is a opportunity to implement important forum changes,  but that is not happening.

For example, reduce number of boards, improce focus on technical, etc..

I agree with what you say about reducing boards.

Regarding focusing efforts on the technical part to improve the forum, I also agree with you, but the administrator is the only one who can take care of that right now. Forum funds, as I assume you already know, are quite limited.

Also, I am thinking (yes, sometimes I think) of another proposal that the administrator may not like very much, about veteran users and some teleported users, anyway, when I have everything written I will post it to see what happens. It will take two or three days at most, until I have some clear parameters.

I agree with you, but the implementation of things is in the hands of the administrator and there is a lot that must be done, in many forums the role of the administrator is access to private data, technical updates and solutions to deep problems.
Most of the organizational role is done by global mods.
The Senate votes on the updates which are implemented by global mods.
There is also a section for promotion and budget which is done by the president or the deputy.
Therefore, the administrator's interaction with problems is limited so that a simple update such as the news section is not among his duties.

Or in some forums there are two admins with different permissions (requires a lot of trust)
