Title: happy new year, bitcoin and bitcoiners
Post by: babo on December 30, 2024, 05:35:45 PM
as you well know, I'm not a person who frequents this forum often, I'm a little shy and more "oriented" towards the local forum, italian of course

however this year I felt the need to discuss with you, I now felt the need to wish you a happy new year

not a normal or classic wish, a heartfelt wish

my path starts from linux and the open source environment, in the past in the various LUGs (linux user groups) I participated and fought to bring open source to the world

from a simple GCC compiler made by stallman we have come to have a free operating system and a whole series of tools and suites that make us free

I would never have thought in my militancy that even the economic aspect could be affected by our way of thinking

now we also have "open hardware" objects so I understand very well that bitcoin, open source, was an obvious and necessary step

I realize that I didn't immediately believe in the project, but since 2017 I have become a fervent acolyte who tries to "make people understand" that the bitcoin project can be their friend and not their enemy

so my happy new year wishes go like this, I wish you a more open source new year

--
I remember very well the strangled laughter of people who didn't believe when I preached open source, when I hypothesized open hardware
I remember very well when Steve Ballmer indicated the open source movement as a cancer
long exhausting battles that marked me and that forged me, i never give up

thank you, my wish is due to the fact that we started many years ago with a simple compiler, gcc created by Richard Stallman and a series of brilliant programmers
and now we are forcefully entering the financial world with Bitcoin, which is an open source project

Welcome babo. I've learnt a ton of things this year and that's actually very nice and interesting. I definitely understand how nice it could be to have improved in any field besides I too have experienced a couple of challenges relating to technicalities and crypto this year 2024 and it's ok for it to have happened as it was an opportunity for improvement.

In all we do hope for more interesting improvements 2025 both generally here on forum and based on individual experiences too.

The challenges in this coming year will be a stepping tone to our promotions, more crypto income, insights and all time highs to make more profits before the bull season begins, i must not go without wishing all members of the forum including the admin, staffs, moderators, senators, president and many other noble positions and ranks i couldn't mention a blessed Yuletide celebrations.

The new year has started here, a year ago most of us did not know this forum as most of us joined here in December, but the forum succeeded in attracting different signature campaigns away from the mixer campaigns. I hope the new year will be better for everyone.

Lastly, the forum makes it more lively, and discussions and topics soar although we noticed some decline on the last quarter of 2024 but it is still a good achievement of the forum as a whole. Happy New Year to all.

I did not knew Babo you are an expert in open source and after reading your post I kind a felt that we must read what stallman talked about open source, can you share some sources although I know I can find but the ones you mentioned about cancer. As reading his opinion about open source can give us more idea why we need open source as after reading that we will have more words to explain someone why we need it in the first place.

As TBH I did not aware of the term open source before getting into BTC, it had made me learn all these terms, I am a Gen-Z so you can estimate I don't know much about these terms before as I joined crypto space in 2021. Overall Happy new year to you as well. Thanks for the idea of this topic, as I can spend my time on this too hehe.

of course, if you ask more i can give you

you must understand that I have studied a lot of the culture and philosophy behind the open source world
It is precisely the philosophy and the way of doing things that attracted and fascinated me a lot and that allowed me to understand how their way of thinking works.

Happy New Year to all, I wish a Happy New Year to all members of the forum.

We, the newcomers, celebrate this two occasions, the New Year and also the passing of about a full year of our presence in this forum, which has become more active and growing thanks to everyone.

I hope this year will be the year of Bitcoin par excellence and the year of big profits for all Bitcoin holders who have waited a long time to see these happy days.

The forum can’t be comped to what it use to be as of last year when many members joined from bitcointalk as teleported account. The forum is now more active than it use to be in the past and all thanks to members here both old and new that keeps the discussions going.

In this new year, we hope to see the forum achieve more greater things, from more users on board and more pod signature campaigns to keep the forum more active and engaging than we have witnessed from last year till now.

Well, you're not wrong, but so far post counts were stable and consistently increasing monthly, although there is discrepancy but still fine. Signature campaigns are not that so many unlike 6 months ago or so, but the forum keeps up with quality posts until today which is the good news.
