Post by: bitterguy28 on January 19, 2025, 01:48:08 PM
not sure if any of you are particularly fond of the app tiktok

it’s typically known as an app filled with the youngsters and they are obsessed with it now it got banned in the usa which is a huge audience for tiktok but the us citizens seems to be mourning this loss a lot

is there an app that will heavily impact your life and could really devastate you if it was banned?

in my country yesterday it was not the platform that was deleted but the shopping section, where traders who often sell in the tiktok store feel disadvantaged where tiktok is a place to make money for online traders,
again if tiktok is deleted, of course people who make money from their content will feel disadvantaged where they will not get money anymore from the content they create
I personally, whatever form of social media, be it tiktok, facebook or others, if it is deleted I don't mind, but if telegram and WA are deleted from the playstore, I will feel sad and lost

TikTok getting banned in the US is huge since so many people are obsessed with it. It’s more than just an app it’s where they hang out, share, and create. Losing it feels like losing a big part of their daily life.

Behind this is the issue of being cautious about security issues as well as the impact of china political, commercial and diplomatic disputes with the us is also evident here. The video of tiktok have health risks that are seriously harmful for teenagers. These are eating disorders increased suicidal tendencies, self harm, mental health effects, sexual harassment etc. In addition to mental health, many see the risk of using tiktok in terms of cyber security. Also, when children and teenagers see tiktok or similar platforms, it takes over their messaging power. Then they spend more time here and leave from the daily routine.

I have seen that it got banned but then it was restored thanks to Donald Trump's negotiation with Xi Jinping. This is the message that  was conveyed by the app store.

Maybe Facebook because it's massively used in our country. And as well as the financial apps, so, we're only talking about the apps and not the websites so that's it for me. And I hope the forum will remain to be only accessible through website and it won't make an app because something like this could happen if ever the government pushes for some restrictions.

it is now restored again it seems like just a scare because it barely lasted for over half a day still many people were affected and got themselves worried because they use tiktok as their source of income

i do not know what could be the consequence of having forum as an application well aside from it will most likely have to be approved first by apple store or play store which might affect the accessibility depending on the device you use

i would rather just access the forum in the website as it is operating nicely anyway

It sounds great that TikTok has been restored by Donald Trump. At least 170 million Americans will begin to use Tiktok back after its ban by the previous US government. However, this restoration of Tiktok by Trump comes with a condition that the US will owe about 50% of Tiktok.

is there an app that will heavily impact your life and could really devastate you if it was banned?
No one at all. I am not a social media type that depends on them. If I find out any app gets banned in my country tomorrow, I won't feel much affected rather will take it as one of those things we get to see in life.

I believe Tiktok is back, Donald Trump had something to do about it. However, i don't know for how long, it is not an issue i have any interest in, i do not use Tiktok, so...yeah. I understand completely the sadness when it was taken down, if an app i am obsessed with is taken down, i will be equally sad.

i use tiktok but i am not as obsessed to the point that i can’t live without it however it is important to note that for some people tiktok is their livelihood and this is where they take a lot of their incomes from it is also a major platform to share information around but thankfully it is back now

The number of tiktok users in my country is increasing day by day but after kids get addicted their education suffers a lot. I don't want to keep it at all because now it is important to be ready for the competition. Everyone should have a goal in life and work hard to earn money for it. I don’t user tiktok because i have lot of work in a day. I think if anyone wants to earn money as a video maker or content creator then they should work on youtube.

Not only TikTok, but social media addiction has become a matter of concern. I have seen hundreds of messages and stories from my friends complaining about the disappearance of the TikTok application, even though the ban lasted for hours. If TikTok is stopped for days or weeks, these teenagers will turn to violence to express their need for addiction, so perhaps it is better to think about how to reduce the negative effects of social media, especially for teenagers.

Donald Trump did nothing.

Tiktok didn't have to shut down their servers on the 19th, they were not forced to do so, they still had 90 days to take action, you can see that there was no change to the law as both apple and google have removed the app from the store and they are not bringing it back. Tiktok acted like kids trying to inflate Trump's ego, they restricted access to us users without being forced to do so and then they made Trump look like a savior when nothing was actually saved.
Als,o you're forgetting that he is the one that started all this in his previous term.

The latest update is Trump just delay TikTok ban for 75 days, in his own words

Quote
The action says the 75 day delay will help the Trump administration attempt to “determine the appropriate course forward in an orderly way that protects national security while avoiding an abrupt shutdown of a communications platform used by millions of Americans.”

Trump signs promised executive action to delay TikTok ban for 75 days (https://edition.cnn.com/2025/01/20/tech/tiktok-future-donald-trump-ban-sale/index.html)

He believes that TikTok contributed to his winning the election and he says he got used to using it
Quote
But until a sale ultimately goes through, TikTok’s future will remain very much in doubt,
so we will see in a matter of months if there is going to be a deal to sell TikTok or face a permanent ban in the US.

You need to understand that most of the people who are currently mourning the TikTok app in the US are not simply doing so because the app has become a huge part of them or simply because there’s no other app like that or because they’re really gonna miss the app, they’re simply mourning the app because they know just how much revenue they make from the app, and now that the app is no more, they’ll definitely miss it all. A lot of youths who are on the app have made the app their source of income as they’re compensated very well for the contents and traffic’s they generate on the app.

I am really unconcerned about the decision of the United States to ban the social media application. I am not on it, and have no plans to join them because I find social media very distraction from the actual useful and meaninful things you could be learning online.

The Social Media websites that I am on already are enough and okay for me.

To me I don't really see any app that will be band that will get me to be disturbed because am not a fan of social media it's only social media freets that will get them self disturbed about any app getting band like tictok the only thing that gives me joy is crypto currency i will only be concern about any negative information that I gets from cryptocurrency because a lot of countries still has some restrictions concerning Bitcoin being made legal in such countries

Yeah, i know that, in this day and age so many people make money from social media, so shutting it down is like firing them from work. That is why it is good that after earning money from one source, one should diversify into other stuffs to avoid having all eggs in one basket.

However, i don't care about what's going on with Tiktok in the U.S., i hope the end is good for the Tiktok guys.

Lots of countries have also made a decision in likes manner, maybe placing a ban on the use of twitter and some other random social media platforms, which we cant make a justification on why and how comes, government cant be predictable especially when they feels insecure on some areas of life, because they first have the mentality of once regulated, they can perform any rule of authority over them.

unfortunately the government can do anything they want biased or not they will impose bans and restrictions to get whatever they want just like how brazil banned x to be paid by elon musk and elon did pay a $5 million fine so now the ban is lifted this kind of things are only to take advantage of the platforms and their users so they are forced to cooperate with the environment

In my country, the government has banned several apps that are not well known, due to their abusive nature. if popular apps like TikTok were banned, it would have a significant impact on users who rely on the platform for content creation, community engagement, and even income generation. people like me will not be affected, but some people will face the consequences, because they will lose their followers, revenue, and creative outlets. I know it going to be unbearable for them, but they have to bear it and adapt to the government's decision.

Yeah, the government has the final say in matters like this and some of the people affected can explore relocating to a country that is friendly to what was banned. However, before they take that excessive step, the banned application has to mean so much to them, it has to be their entire livelihood and they cannot do without it.
