Title: Warren Buffett Embracing Cryptocurrency Business?
Post by: TomPluz on January 23, 2025, 10:02:47 AM

We know that Warren Buffett is one of the most popular names in the world of investing and he is known to possessed that very special skill of picking up winners being the man behind the very successful multinational conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway with billions and billions of investments on its hand. In the past, Buffet was shying away from any involvement in the cryptocurrency industry even calling Bitcoin as “probably rat poison double” and he predicted that cryptocurrencies would “come to a bad ending.”

Now, times can be changing as his company "Berkshire Hathaway increases its investment in Nu Holdings, which is launching its Nubank Crypto platform in 2022. The platform supports cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon, Uniswap, and Chainlink, and provides key functions such as sending, receiving, and converting cryptocurrencies." As for me, this is one of the symbol that indeed the cryptocurrency industry is here to stay and will even grow bigger and stronger into the future as even hard critics are now doing some good about-face...and taking their stakes in this industry they once spurned.

I don't know mate, it's not a direct embrace from Warren B. for he, he is still very much against crypto because we all know that he is old and traditional and have been attacking Bitcoin many times already already.

Good if he change his stance, but I don't think it matter as this point.

Bitcoin or crypto is too big too fall now, we have countries, and the biggest investment firm into it and there are no stopping.

^ Yeah, it's not like Berkshire invested in Nu Holdings because the digital bank are into cryptocurrency. If I'm understanding it correctly, Berkshire was already an investor before Nu launched their crypto platform. Increasing their investment doesn't mean they are 'embracing' crypto.

I don't know, but investing in a company is what Warren Buffett is doing, and with this one, he's investing in a business that has a relation to crypto, but not into cryptocurrency directly.

As for the embracing the cryptocurrency part, I don't think that Buffett will do this at all. Yes, he can invest into business that has a relation to crypto, but I don't see him investing directly into cryptocurrency. What he invests his money are the companies that has "true value" and for him, Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency doesn't have any true value. It might be a good thing that he's at least involved into cryptocurrency already although it's indirectly.

As I understand how Warren gets to be richer with his business is the way he's investing into businesses that he knows how they work. So, if he and his company are investing to NU holdings, even if it's a company that has a service related to crypto, they're investing merely to the business and company and whatever the outcome it does, Warren sees that it's profitable because of it as a business. It's not a direct contact to crypto but who knows if he's having some time learning more on it before he fully dives in because this is where smart money goes.

Since Warren Buffett has a wealth that extends across many sectors and one of those companies must have indirect investments in Bitcoin, this does not mean that Warren Buffett invests in Bitcoin or wants to invest in Bitcoin, but rather indicates that Bitcoin has become part of the global financial system. I do not think that people like Warren Buffett, after all this investments, are ready to change their ideas quickly, but let's see what will happens.

Warren Buffett already let us know a long time ago that he is not touching crypto or BTC, so let it rest, it is not like BTC needs Warren to survive or move to the next level, he has his own successful ideas of business and investment and bitcoiners have theirs in BTC.

Whatever Nu Holdings is doing with BTC has nothing to do with Warren or his company.

With Elon Musk and Trump's positive engagement with cryptocurrencies, we may see a change in the views of many economists, but any economist over 70 will be hard pressed to change his mind.

Now that the company he is investing in is now on cryptocurrency, he will stop throwing negative feedback on cryptocurrency. Time and circumstances prove that Warren is wrong, but I doubt he will change his stand and he is just waiting for circumstances to change before he will throw negative feedback on cryptocurrency. But right now, let's enjoy our profit and for proving that Warren is wrong.

Trump changed his views and immediately launched his shit meme coin, and then few hours later his wife did same, that is suspicious, like he was just showing interest to make money off people with a stupid coin, as for Elon, i know he does not care about BTC, maybe other cryptocurrencies though.

I don't think Buffett is changing his mind about BTC and crypto, like you said he is old, but maybe if he was younger it wouldn't have made any difference.

well regardless of his actual opinion, the fact that they invested in a company that is openly supportive of crypto is enough to say that his company is no longer aggressive or so against crypto of course this is not the best way of showing support to crypto but still it is definitely something

Bitcoin or crypto is too big too fall now, we have countries, and the biggest investment firm into it and there are no stopping.
with his refusal to join crypto enthusiasts, all he is doing is letting himself fall behind and there is no one else to blame but himself

Warren Buffett is already a successful investor on other sectors, i don't think his additional investments input on the crypto economy is necessarily needed in my opinion . Whether Warren Buffett start investing on crypto or no, it will definitely have no influence on the crypto community, at least, he is long critics of crypto.
I think we have gone past the era of Warren Buffett ideas, after all, he never talked good about cryptocurrency in the past. I will advice that every crypto enthusiast should focus on the community, its growth and developments, and If mr  Warren Buffett wants to start investing on crypto, he is welcomed.

Warren Buffett, an antagonist of cryptocurrency, now investing on them??? It sounds quite funny,  after a long period of time fighting against Crypto and now he's making investments at his old age..

From my point of view, I think he's already made investment with the Brazilian company (Nu holdings) before their adoption of Crypto, though he's investment increments after Crypto adoption calls for a closer look.
It is certain that he is indirectly beginning to be a fan of crypto by this act.
Because if he still strongly stands against it, he must have pulled out his funds or probably reduce his investment after seeing the company adopting Crypto.

There is no doubt that crypto won't stay long; this is a big adoption, and once the real implementation is there of this plan, we will see more adoption as the person is a big celebrity too. If his business adopts crypto, then that would increase the adoption/demand of some tokens I believe BTC is the main token on the list, and he would prefer some other crypto declared as commodities

Well, whatever the tokens/coins he picks, it would be a start, and with time, we can see more adoptions like this, people should prefer crypto while buying and selling they should not marry to their tokens once they bought them.

He is an ultra-traditional investor; he will not accept something new because of his ignorance of how blockchain works, and even if he understands how blockchain works, I don't think he supports it; he dwells on traditional investing for so long that changes seem impossible.
Even if one of his companies gets involved in cryptocurrency, he will not take the lead and will just become a passive observer.

If you can't fight the wind, swim with the current, this is what most of those who initially rejected Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and then supported them later do, so I am not surprised and expect more opponents to join Crypto to take their share.

Trump was one of these opponents in his previous term, and today he is one of the biggest supporters of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, so it is not a shame for a person to change his position when he discovers that he is wrong, the mistake is for a person to continue his stubbornness while he is wrong.
