I have Heard from some people that Cryptocurrency is highly speculative, even the former SEC chairman, Gary Gensler once said that Bitcoin is a speculative assets, but others thinks that Bitcoin serves as a store of value assets class, and has the potential to increase in value overtimes.
Now, it seems that many investor or traders who are engaged on the crypto economic activities are those that are speculating the market often, it is evidence that from the past five months, Bitcoin has witnessed a lot of fluctuations on the short periods of time, then a quick recovery that has always been effective. This constant ups and downs movements may lead to conclusion that speculators are creating the situations with the slight news out there to change the prices for their personal gain.
Again, it also good to point that speculators can negatively impact the market when their trading actions results in a speculative decrease that drives up an assets prices to unsustainable level
However, speculators are important to the market because they bring Liquidity and assume market risks. Do you think speculator are important on the crypto market?

I think you already answered your own question well. As long as there is an open market, you can find many speculators who are also investors, in the first place. Now, can we take away these speculators from the market? Yes, we can but that means that there will no more be market to talk about. All investors can actually be speculators and this is quite true even outside of the cryptocurrency industry as this is nothing new. Speculation is not something invented by the cryptocurrency industry, these people (and that can be including us, btw), are in the market since time immemorial. The great volatility in Bitcoin and the rest of the gang is something that attracted speculators to this market as there is more chance to make millions here compared to traditional investment vehicles, albeit higher risks.

I agree with you because what actually brings volatility to the market is actually speculation who has a close eye on the market and also use one event or the other to bring down or increase the price of crypto currency speculators are actually important in the market because many people leverage on their predictions and make profit in the sense that when there is an upcoming event that may likely affects the price of crypto currency especially will put out notice that will be helpful to you making your trading decision just like when donald trump won the election the projection was that bitcoin was going to hit $100k by January and it eventually happened it was due to speculations so speculators are actually important when it comes to crypto currency investments

Speculators are the bread and butter of the market sentiment, for newbies especially.
They draw capital whenever they go - or from something, like you said.
So, yes - they are important.

No matter how we cut it, everyone in the market is speculating (day traders/hodlers). Nobody would be a holder forever and nobody is holding without expecting profits in the near future. Even the ones we call as institutional investors are also speculators. They might be smarter than the average they're better at managing risks.
-
Aren't we all speculators in one way or another, if you are not spending BTC as a currency, i think you are speculating, because you are looking at returns, be it in the future like long term holders, or daily like day traders. I don't understand you question of whether or not we deserve speculators, the question does not make sense to me, this is how the market is.
-
Yes, indeed, there are many speculators in the crypto world, in the market too. and it will never end. speculation about the price of BTC, the price of certain altcoins, hype coins, ATH, even about bullish peak speculation and altcoin season. Speculation occurs in many things. and speculators also often share the results of their speculations publicly.
However, the point is how we can respond to these speculations. It is not the fault of the speculators, but more about how we can use these speculations as one of the considerations. BTC can be just a speculation if it is not really okay with optimizing its profits. Moreover, altcoins, if they are only carried away by hype and speculation results, well, they will only be victims.

Every single entity that we see in the market is important. And yes, even the FUD makers, they're important because this makes it as a market. For that reason, we're looking at the design of this market that every single person that does their job whether as a speculator, regulator, trader and what not. They all have contribution to the market although sometimes we do not like what they are up to because they manipulate it.
-
I think no one can predict market accurately so at the end of the day everyone is speculator, and as such there is no way one can remove speculators from market because these two are inseparable, you know what I am sayin?
-
Speculation is the fun in the market that keeps it going and also giving both traders and hodlers confidence. Imagine that I have fixed the time when I will take profit and a price target which means that I am speculating and believes it will come true. There is no good asset that investors wouldn't speculate on.

true. we are all speculators. we trade whenever the profit is right for the picking. we buy and sell Bitcoin for profit anyway. when we all agree that Bitcoin price is going down, everybody will sell also especially in the bear market.
but there are bigger speculators that can really manipulate the market like the blackrock and few others who are already having hundreds of thousands of BTC including those exchange CEOs who can see the data on their market.

Yeah I agree because speculators and the market is of course there to co-exist without one of each there is imbalance. It's like the brain and the heart of this industry. Since the existence of crypto and and it's evolution the creativity of human mind, we are here to continue what has been started, though the primary purpose of crypto varies but still they ended up on the market whether we like it or not and we are the creators and speculators to explore opportunities it may bring to us.
-
Right, it's a free market and we have what we call ecosystem. So with that, everyone is important to keep it alive and so as much as we hate speculators as they could make FUD, and pump and dump the market, still though they are very much vital and important part of it.
As you have said, they added liquidity in the market and they also contributed to the volatility that we have. So in turn, they are a part of this whole market paradigm that we love, thus making us more money right now or in the future.
-
We all are just speculating either the price of bitcoin or it's use case and that's what the decentralization brings us. We are allowed to use as we wish with no intermediary to control or censor our actions with the bitcoin. And it has been volatile all the time and which is why the traders and investors epculate about thee price movements on their own expereince.

Yeah, if it was possible to predict the market exactly, we would all be millionaires in dollars, lol, but that is not possible. I think op does not understand what speculating means in the market, because anybody who buys a coin with the hope of making returns, be it immediately or later, is simply speculating on the price.
