Title: What games can make money? (Doesn't have to be crypto related)
Post by: bayu7adi on February 10, 2025, 12:31:22 PM
Lately I've been playing the Lineage2 game with the MMORPG genre... in the game it turns out there is an RMT (Real Money Trading) feature, where players can sell and buy items with FIAT...

Many people also grind to get their best characters to fight with other players (PVP) and it requires a lot of in-game currency to buy some necessities, while other people only focus on farming looking for in-game currency and to sell to other players...

To be honest, there are people who managed to get 15 million to 20 million game currency in 12 hours, while the exchange rate against FIAT is 5$ for 1 million game currency to sell to other players... Can this be called a game that makes money?

honestly i do not know a lot of games that are primarily used to make money usually when a game endorses their app in a way that implies that you can earn an x amount of money in an x amount of time i immediately know it will not be worth it because there will be some rule that would prevent you from withdrawing or there are unrealistic requirements before you can earn or withdraw

but i know that mobile games can be used to earn money through tournaments if you are good enough or if you have a good account you can sell it to other players these are games like valorant, or codm, or mobile legends

I know one crypto related. I play dcity on Hive blockchain, basically you earn/purchase cards and manage your city as best you can to earn token called SIM, which again can be sold for Hive in market. You can also speculate on cards, hoard them if they gonna have a nice value in future and make profit, I am not active as much as I was used to but I had blast back when I was regular. Currently, I have just Hive delegated there which make me earn cards and I sell them infrequently.

E sports is an actual career, so you won't get any money from gaming but you can enter the competition and leagues to participate against other players and if you win then you can make loads of money for real. I read an estimation that the eSports is even bigger than many actual sports like FIFA and other major sporting events in comparison with the prize pool.

Yes, there is money in esports but more than actually winning the tournaments one can make more from having YouTube channels and sponsorships. There are plenty people who made it big like that.

Inflation will kick on and the rates will decrease more and more as top players don't need that anymore.
Happens with every single game, that's why Runescape went s*** when people started farming it and bots will ruin the game.
In the early days of Diablo 3 people farmed for thousands a day, then eveything to hell with bots and they even closed the built in shop.

Youtube is a huge platform for gaming content manufacturers and on this platform more than 20 million people watch gaming videos every day. Gaming channels are of the five most subscribed channels worldwide. So for gamers, Youtube is just as profitable as diverse. There are several big Youtubers in my country who have earned lots of subscribers through gaming and are currently making a lot of money. Moreover, many people want to build their career from gaming so it is important to participate in various gaming tournaments to enrich the portfolio of those who want to take gaming as a career.

It easy to know, just go online and google search it, you will see a lot of them, games you can play to earn money, they both exist in fiat currencies and crypto depending on the ones you are coming across with, just search on the internet "play to earn games" and you will be surprise of the numbers of feedbacks you will receive, but be careful and ensure you gamble responsibly.

As somebody who's been playing MMORPG games for nearly a decade already, I've also doing that thing as well. Selling in-game currencies in exchange for fiat currency.

I'm not playing Lineage2 though, but there's a game called Mir4 which is a Web3 game under Wemix which is also an MMORPG as well where you will farm in-game currencies and can be exchanged to real currencies through trading. In general, you can make money through playing especially in MMORPG games. Selling in-game items, rare items, rare loots, in-game currencies, etc. If the developers will not disallow it, then you can make money while having fun still.

Aside from MMORPG, E-sports games can help you make money as well. No further explanation for this one because we've seen different E-sports games out there and many players are making huge amounts of money by playing it.

Sometimes the results you get from such engines will be very different from the results from people who have actually tried it. This is why people prefer to actually get answers from humans who have experienced or tried something rather than from just a Google search.

There is a PlayStore to download the games, and I believe there will be ratings and remarks about the app that can be downloaded from the answers Google provided about the app games that pay.

Even with the answers human beings provided, you will still check them out on the PlayStore for them to be downloaded. You will still read people's comments about the game there, to decide whether you will go on to have them download

I think BDO is still popular. I remember playing it a while back and some people offered a farming service for my account. I visited their website and they had a dedicated team and office for that service, not sure how much they paid the workers though. Judging from how active they are looks like some whales use their services regularly. That being said, there is no in-game marketplace with fiat as a payment method so you can't exactly play to earn money from it.

Lately I've been playing the Lineage2 game with the MMORPG genre... in the game it turns out there is an RMT (Real Money Trading) feature, where players can sell and buy items with FIAT...

Do you know that RMT is most games are, I cant say fully illegal, but not highly not welcomed by developers. Because you take money from them, when they supposed to be monopolist in service and game items sales.

I know that you can play counter strike 2, and weekly receive random weapon skin and box. These items can be traded on steam market or other trading pages. This method seems to be 99% legal.

It would be weird if a developer suggested users stop doing RMT but offered a platform to do that. If they want to monopolize the money, wouldn't they sell cosmetics or loot boxes as most live services do nowadays?

I do know most games ban account trading though. Understandable especially in competitive games where rank or gear matters I guess.

This is correct, that's why I often prefer search results on forums and Reddit just because they feel personal instead of websites and blogs and it's easy to follow up with questions as well.

That example of OP in in game currencies to fiat is a normal MMORPG trade. Here in my country, there are so many private servers that are allowing players to earn through means of farming gold or in game currencies and trade it into real money. That is actually a real money game and literal play to earn game. I like that way when you're farming in game currency and making your character stronger. Games like ragnarok, RAN online and other games of the same have been attracting a lot of people. But witnessing the scene, it's more a decade ago but good thing these private servers are reliving these games and in game economy.

Yeah, most game developers don’t really like RMT because it takes away their chance to make money from in-game sales. They want to be the only ones selling items and services.

But in games like Counter-Strike 2, you can get weapon skins and cases every week, and you’re allowed to trade or sell them on the Steam market or other platforms. That’s why it’s more accepted and almost fully legal.

i have heard of in game currencies being traded to fiat but i do not know if it is so common in the gaming community or the society in general since most of us think that games are only for entertainment and not something that we can earn from

you would need some kind of skill sets when it comes to gaming though so i reckon that it would not be as easy as one may think

It is so common even on the mid 2000s. There has been a lot of experiences that I've been with on that era, it was like the golden age of these gaming communities. Meeting new friends and relying to the economy of these games. It can even said that gaming accounts are more worth it than our lives, LOL. Actually, in PvPs, that's where the skillset is important but in making some money, it's important to have time and resource like your own personal computer compared before that people are playing in internet cafe's.

In crypto gaming sector, in each game I have come across, there has been earning elements mixed in, so 'earning' may not be true for mainstream games but in crypto games it's pretty normal.

You'd be surprised at how different your interest can be with hardcore players. I remember hearing about roleplay servers where everyone is so invested they spend money on it. Trading accounts with real money is not so surprising if you're familiar with it. Heck, I recently came across an unofficial community wiki of a game where they suggest you buy an account if you want to start pretty comfortably because the game is so riddled with P2W features. I wouldn't be surprised if crypto games move to this to get more income because copy-pasting low-effort tamagochi game no longer works.

If it comes to making money by playing games online, then gambling comes first. Because through this, you can earn money quickly in a short time. On the other hand, if you really want to make money by playing games professionally, then I would say esports. Because through this, you can earn money by playing various types of tournaments. In this case, you can earn money by playing all types of co-op games. also you can earn money by streaming.
Among them, the notable mobile games are : PUBG Mobile, Free-fire,Mini-militia,Mobile legends etc..

Gambling is losing game, I would never suggest gambling to make money. Gambling has all potential to put you in worse position than you started with.

Yes, it is certainly true that almost everyone becomes poor by gambling. But I have talked about earning money without any skill or at any time. Because gambling does not require any kind of skill, it is up to your luck. If you want to earn money by playing games, then you must have a good skill in that game. If you want to do live streaming on YouTube or Facebook, then you must entertain your viewers. I have not encouraged anyone to gamble.
