Title: Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull Super Middleweight Title May 3

Canelo will again do a cherry-picked fight and this time against newly crowned William Scull This is in preparation for the much anticipated Crawford fight.

The fight will be held on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a four-deal contract. Saudi Arabian boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh signed up for Canelo in preparation for the Crawford match.

Scull won the then-vacated IBF title with a 12-round decision win over Vladimir Shishkin.

Scull has a slim chance to win against Canelo, but what if he beats Canelo? Everything will crumble for Canelo and will create a big impact in the boxing scene.

Thanks for this, I was thinking of creating a thread about this fight as it is already official fight for Canelo. Scull is the IBF champion so obviously it's another shot for Canelo to become unified champion again at the super middleweight.

And after winning this fight, the plan is for him and Crawford this September. So let's hope that Canelo will win this fight so that everyone will be happy to see him and Crawford before the end of the year.

Obviously, Canelo will be a big favorite here, (I haven't check sports bookies yet).

I am more familiar with Canelo because he has been around longer from what the statistics reveal, but Scull looks pretty tough too and has a good record to show for it.

If we judge by experience, Canelo is our guy and who I will stick with if I am to place a bet.

this is part of that 3 fight deal with the Saudis right?
somebody in the forum said about it which is quit a huge money deal for Canelo. i remember him asking huge amount for a fight to be dealt and i guess the Saudis came to make fights happen. from the image above, it clearly says Canelo is the most experienced boxer.

will the fight between Canelo vs Crawford still be on the table if for instance Canelo lost against Scull?

Cherry picking is the right word to describe this fight but we can't blame Canelo Alvarez this time around because if he is picking a stronger/better fighter than William Scull, his mega fight with Terrence Crawford might get delayed or a loss this May may cancel his bout with Crawford.

At 182CM, he looks like another tree that Canelo would methodically chop down. If he could withstand (or minimize) all the shots to the body, then he'll have a higher chances of making it to the 12th round and maybe win by decision. With a low finish rate, that's his only way of getting the belt.

I am not impressed with William Scull's performace in the ring because he does not have the power and timing that Canelo has in his boxing career. The knockout power of Canelo is different based on his boxing records. No doubt he will win the fight.

That is the reason why the guy's name is unheard off. Canelo will give boxing lessons on Scull, checking some of his fights. There are a lot of flaws in his match that I'm thinking if Berlanga faces this guy, its an easy win for Edgar Berlanga; he is a better fighter than Scull.
I already marked this as a win for Canelo; we are just going to bet if its a knockout or decision and what round Canelo will knock out Scull.

Yeah exactly. This fight seems a gambling fight for Scull he should atleast fight triple G before facing Canelo in the ring as we all know triple G is one of those boxers that made Canelo engage on a hard fight they even do rematch which was a pretty intense fight.

Yeah, i agree with you mate that William Scull doesn't have the power to beat Canelo that is why many are saying that this is another cherry picking fight for him but as i have said in my post above that this will be another tune-up or a keep busy fight for Canelo to prepare for his mega showdown with Terrence Crawford.

Yeah, i agree with you mate that William Scull doesn't have the power to beat Canelo that is why many are saying that this is another cherry picking fight for him but as i have said in my post above that this will be another tune-up or a keep busy fight for Canelo to prepare for his mega showdown with Terrence Crawford.

Scull is just lucky that he has the IBF and Canelo wanting to get back that belt and become a unified champion once more. And that's what majority has seen in this fight, this is a tune up fight for Canelo.

And after this fight, it will be Crawford, a super fight in September and obviously the brain behind this mega fight is HE Turki. And he offered Canelo a 4 fight and this include this one.
