Is there any way to unfollow topic in forum and how to do it?
This includes any topic where I wrote anything in the past, and I can always see them if I click on Show new replies to your posts.
In Bitcointalk and other forums I can simply click unfollow and those topics won't show anymore for me.
This is more question for Admin but other members can also reply.

This forum is quite different from bitcointalk though they are both SMF forums . Nevertheless they actually do have a couple of similarities aside from their differences . I'm not exactly sure how you mean though but new topics do come with a new tag on them I think it's same for topics you've engaged in but have newer replies.
Well check this out if it works for you , try ticking the check box on that particular topic and then proceed to hit the mark as read button.

I said that I want to remove those topics from following, not to read them, as they would again show up very soon.
This forum is not so different from bitcointalk forum since they are both based on SMF software and I am sure there is option in settings to enable what I am looking for, if Admin wants to do it.

I see the closest solution in setting notifications.
to note, I haven't tried it

I don't know why, but a lot of this forum things seem unnecessarily complicated to me. One ignore button should be enough for things like this
This seems like a potential option.

Now you've reminded me, I should also remove a few mega threads from the list.

I already have this notifications disabled in settings long time ago, so it's not doing anything to me, since I don't like popup notifications at all.
I also looked at all other settings in forum and I didn't find anything that could unfollow topics I wrote in before.
Hello Admin are you alive and can you answer something about this please?? :-\

OK, not to bother, I assumed that this option could be dysfunctional.
I am additionally tired of the fact that I cannot set certain boards to ignore, like other local boards. they are really useless to me and make the "Show unread posts since last visit" option pointless.
I will wait here for a possible explanation from the administration, I could probably present this to the Senate to try to find a solution.

I would also like to see ignore boards option in AltcoinsTalks, but maybe that is easier to ''fix'' with some usersctipt via browser extensions.
In bitcointalk I am using something similar called Ignore threads on bitcointalk and that was created by NLNicoo a long time ago.
Maybe someone who understands how to code could fork this and make it work in this forum.

Looks like there's nothing you can do about it, i expect its the same the "unwatch" feature in bitcointalk so threads will not show on your "Show new replies"

I have just posted the link of this topic to the chat, so let's see what is the official answer from Admin.
There is no reason to keep this disabled if there is option in backend to enabled it, and I am sure most members would not have anything against my suggestion.

I Think there are lacking many useful features here in altcoinstalks.
Watchlist, unfollow, etc..
I have been using "Show unread posts since last visit." as I can't create a watchlist of boards I like. I see many trash and boards in other languages there, but this is how this forum works for now....
Many users suggested reducing the amount of boards, but admin just created new ones...

this forum is an old car barely able to roll
i tried to create a lot of nice features, but everytime it is done something else breaks

That's great to hear, now let's wait and see until the update comes for this kind of feature. Thanks for this admin.

I've been occasionally visiting this thread for quite a while now basically waiting till dkbit98 gets a solution to the problem he mentioned since regular members here including me couldn't find a fix for it. However this particular reply of yours answers a lot of things I've noticed on the forum.
Generally members here has complained a couple of times and I actually used to wonder sometimes why it often takes you quite a long while before you eventually fix it. Unlike Bitcointalk you don't seem to have standby Devs or programmers assisting you that much when n fixing issues like this .
Hopefully you get some as this forum grows.
-
Thank you dkbit98 for posting this issue here, actually I have the same problem where my email is full of messages from the topics I follow in the forum even the old ones.
Every few days I have to clean my email from instant messages from the forum from these topics and this takes me a lot of time, but as I read the admins' response that there is no solution to this problem at the moment, I hope it will be available soon.
The only solution at the moment is to disable the "Notify me of replies" feature when you reply to a topic that you do not want to receive notifications from.

Not as simple as turning it on from the backend; some features require a lot of time and money to implement; the ALT software is outdated and would require a lot of funds to improve things; and let us not forget that a lot of money were spent on the current BTT software; the admin here is patching everything around here on his own without much financial assistance.
If we want more features we need to start using the donation addresses more to support the admin and the forum.

On developer's point of view, i can tell it can be easy to implement such thing only if the database structure is normalized and organized, if not, it could be pain in the a*s for a forum as big as this and with number of users and threads. So yeah, i can feel admin's disappointment when a thing or two cannot be changed/fixed due to the data complications and due age of the software.

You are absolutely right, I completely agree with but I highly doubt anybody will even consider using the donation address except the admin calls for it, not when people users are also after their own pockets and haven't gotten enough yet.
What I did suggest is that maybe it's time admin special thread in the forum discussion board where he will always announce whats the next feature he is working on, and through that, solicit for support from the forum users, I believe with this, alot of persons in campaign may be more willing to spare $10, $20 or more from their weekly pay to support the admin in improving the forum.

Remember to always think positive and have happy thought, or admin is going to say you are a negative hater

That old truck is going to go much longer distance than brand new tesla electric crap.
Let's see what happens in few months and if something changes...

Just imagine how much harder is to run bigger forums like btctalk ;)

Theymos also do basically everything on his own in BTT. He paid new software but it was not as good as SMF, there are some details about it here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5108349.msg49921196#msg49921196
Although it is a link to BTT, even admin should read it to learn more about SMF forum development.

I really doubt there is a great mess like that.
This forum uses SMF, which is a great software (like WordPress) that has and easy to use API that does most important stuff. There are also add-ons and extensions to extra functionality.

Well well you guys really use this feature of show new replies to your posts, because what I usually do is go to my profile and my posts and look where I have posted or I open sections and on most of the threads I have replied so when I found nothing new or when I want to know more about the same thread I just open it instead of opening this but yeah this is just one of the many ways to do it.
Overall I hope there would be such feature added soon because I find none and even admin has confirmed so.
