Is there any way I could know the number of online users at that particular time I'm using the forum?

You can check the footer of the forum's homepage, there you can see the online users with numbers too, although i'm not sure how accurate it is, but its a forum feature so it should be accurate i guess.

I found the information under the main altcoinstalks website, I will provide screenshot evidence here:
Users Online :
-4035 Guest
-24 Users
If I notice, the 24 Users means members who are online by logging in.
If 4035 Guest I don't know, maybe it's an altcoinstalks website page that is accessed worldwide without logging in.

Why are we always having more guests than registered users in the daily visiting stats. Too many read mode users than contributors. I've noticed it too many times since last year.

Thanks mate.
I think the info should be accurate because it's dynamic. The number of online users is cool and believable. But the guest number according is very high, Igebotz also noted this.
What exactly does guest users check up for and get without login into the forum?

It's possible that bots are also counted as guests. This topic is related to discussions here https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=327496.0

Who knows? Maybe we have some agents here monitoring the increase of promoted service that was 'banned' in other forums? Only they can answer that. We can't even assure that the guest counter only accounts for real users. It's possible that scrapers are counter as well.

I think the mumber might be slightly higher, as ad blocks block online time
I noticed this because my total time is much smaller compared to other members, and when I disabled adblock my online time started to grow

Yes of course it is open to all. Scroll down to the footer area from the home page of the forum to see how many people are active there. And at the same time you can see who was last active. And how many were active today in total. Already some people have posted here about this and screenshots have also been posted. Hope you understand this clearly and can already see how many people were active today.

It might be possible, but getting user agents of every traffic can be distinguished if the traffic came from a bot (robot) or not. So, counting only from non-bot users is easy to get, thus, it might be those numbers are from real traffic. The only question is if these users really take time to visit the forum or if the bounce rate is higher and only has less than 20 seconds or visiting time.
-
As a note, just saying that there is another way to see users online without having to go to the footer of the forum home page.
In this link: https://altcoinstalks.com/SSI.php?ssi_function=whosOnline we can see exactly the same information as in the footer.
The only variation is the way we see it.

Welcome to think of it Altcoins talks is quite a big community most especially if you compare it to many other smaller communities. Aside from that this forum just like most other SMF forums carry a lot of keywords and that simply means when random guests use search engines to look for certain information there is a very high chance this forum would pop up as the first result.
Aside from that is possible members here to may surf the forum without logging in sometimes and that could count as a guest too.

We can only assume this, if we know and compare the number of guest visitors when mixers didn't locate here to now that we have mixers here.

Very likely what happens. I observed it in Bitcointalk. These visitors come from the search engine.
Aside from that is possible members here to may surf the forum without logging in sometimes and that could count as a guest too.
This is likely not what happens. I don't see myself visiting here as a guest user since I know I will have to contribute

While it is rare, some people probably have to use different devices for various reasons like traveling. I use my phone to access the forum because of that, and I don't want to risk using my main account because I can't guarantee I used a secure network. Checking some marketplaces or boards that I regularly visit can be a good way to waste time. I do agree that the number is probably small, but it's there.
-
In the home page of the forum check the bottom. You will see the current and other members who were online in that day. Since the first week of my forum that I noticed that information.
-
Is there any way I could know the number of online users at that particular time I'm using the forum?
This is clearly visible in the bottom of the main page.
It is interesting to see that one point AltcoinsTalks forum had 47049 online, that is more than ten times more than we have today.
I don't know if those numbers are precise and correct, or maybe there was some bot attack in the past.
-

Well you do have a point since you are basically speaking based on what you experience most of the time. However is still possible though the numbers don't actually matter that much when you put them in total. I do surf the forum sometimes without logging in basically when I am not on my main device or sometimes when they're occasionally log out.
Especially on bitcoin talk I like to go back to old posts basically around 2010 or 2011 just to read a couple of old stuff and sometimes I noticed some events back there were quite interesting.

I had thought that the 47049 online was a cumulative number, but if it actually happened in a day, I guess it should be somewhere last year when mixers were banned in Bitcointalk, then some of the mixer campaigns relocated here. If not that, it might likely be a bot attack.

I am just noticing this for the first time after seeing the replies on this thread. It is a great tool indeed and will give a better analysis and insight to how many users come online here to read about informations they can derive of cryptocurrency through here. I commend the admin for this as this is a great tool to keep in check for us users and also companies to know how people often visit the forum for their services to also sell.

It is very easy to see how many users are active here and it is in the footer area of the home page. And already you've got a lot of replays where everyone is giving almost similar answers. Actually this topic is open and on homepage so it is not very difficult to check. You can now lock this topic as you have answered your question very well.
op please lock this topic now. this will be better

This forum had that much online members in one day or overall till now? That's a bit confusing if overall till now then it's okay as the number is not big but if in one day then it must be a bot attack I guess.
BTW I just saw we have 90% of the people as guest and only 60 people as users here in the last 120 minutes I never thought there would be anyone using this forum as guest I mean why would they want to use a forum as guest if they can't interact and engange properly.

You exclude the possibility that someone is just looking for information, where the search engine directed him to this forum. Well, that person does not want to participate in the forum, but only to be informed. They find the necessary information without any interaction on the forum. Why not?
Add to that, that there are a large number of different bots that visit the site and collect different metrics. They are also considered guest visitors.

Like telegram notification bot, or other bots made by bitmover well if such bots are getting data from the forum they must be counted as one guest I assume not multiple times but if they are being counted as multiple times then that's understandable, but saying some people just google something and this forum pops up or uses this forum to get information about something that's not digestible.
Because this forum is not something very big yet now CMIIW.

My bot never appeared as online here.
Its username is "bitmoverbot". This is his profile

So your bot collects all the information while being offline, sorry if that's dumb to say not a very technical person.
So this exclude the option that bot visiting the site counted as multiple times. So these guests must be the real guests visiting sites without logging in. That's really a big number.

The online time is probably bugged.
My bot logs in everytime someone visits the page
Once logged in, he makes forum searches and collect data.
However, his online time is just 5 minutes.
-
The online time is probably bugged.
Or maybe it is simply not showing or registering bots as visible.
I am sure your bot is not the only one used in Altcoinstalks forum, so admin probably decided to hide them in settings.
Do you know if bots are shown in bitcointalk forum since both are based on SMF?
-

I have a bot in bitcointalk which does basically the same thing, and it has 5 hours total online time:
And bitmoverbot only has 5 minutes online time.
So yeah, this is most likely a bug, as looks like admin decided to make online time something important to rank up. He probably changed some configurations to make it count time differently than other SMF forums
-

However, his online time is just 5 minutes.
That can be a reason, and if the online time is really bugged it can be possible that the online guests information might also be bugged as the admin has said one time this forum is like a old car barely able to roll haha so when one thing is repaired, something else broke haha.
Or maybe the actual online time is just 5 minutes as the bot did not need that much time to show the results and once the results are shown it don't have to remain online anymore.

Haha, I am surprised to see that that you are noticed this feature after the op stated this thread, that online stats feature has been there for ages since this forum went online (maybe).
You getting to know about that stats now shows you've never scrolled to the very bottom of the forum ever since you got here lol 😁.
Anyways, one feature related to this one I hope to see in the future is, aside the total online users shown in the footer of the homepage, I want to visit a board and see how many users are active at that particular moment on that board, and maybe on threads too.
Not an important feature, but fun to be able to tell which board and which thread has the most active users at any given time..

Goggle search engine redirected most the guests users to this forum, got the information they want and disappeared, this is a very complicated and difficult forum for a first timers to use. I'm guilty of this as well, I've been reading r/Bitcoin subreddit for more than 5 years now without a registered reddit account.
I don't like how Reddit operates so I'm just a 5 years old guest on only read mode, zero contribution and I'm okay with that.

I don't think this forum is so famous that Google suggests others to it! Or maybe I am wrong and it really suggest people to visit this forum for the answers to their questions. Even most of the time when I have tried to ask questions about a thing, BTT does not come up until I write BTT along with it.
And tbh I also used Reddit for sometime without logging in but it's just the urge to comment on other's nonsense and things they do, so I have to log in and I also spend some time oftenly on Reddit whenever something attracts my attention.

yeah no it does not unless you search something that is very specific in the forum whether it is a topic about crypto or the forum itself then btt usually can come up but i do not think altcoinstalks ever comes up just yet

it is a hassle to use reddit without an account because there are some exclusive content that you need to log in to open and see so i just use the app mostly now
-

That's why I meant to say, that unless we search with the exact same keywords or write + BTT or +ALTT along with it, until then Google won't suggest the results of the forums, and I think it's one of the things made on purpose because new readers don't like to get the answers to their questions from forums but only the OGz.

I was not aware of this factor, it is new, well, reddit also bans accounts very fast, I have one on mobile it is working just fine but on laptop they always ban it whenever I try to create one. I think I am banned from this IP!

This is literally an old statistics https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=327768.0 but it says more than 40% traffic on the forum for the month of January was from direct google search. I guess you're wrong about the forum popularity.

Never heard about this, is it a new feature? Are some contents hidden from guest accounts and why?

I have seen these stats and I am following them from the start, and I think they were high because at that time people were moving here, and they were searching altt direct on Google search again and again, as you know at that time people started to teleport from BTT to here, so even if they search altscointalk instead of typing some keyword for a title or a topic, the google will still say, it was direct traffic from google search.
With time it decreases due to number of reasons, one can be, people bookmarked everything, I open this forum directly from telegram mentions hehe.
-

At the bottom of the Forum Home Page, you'll find the number of active users, those currently online for the day and the total number of the highest members online ever.
This is always found at the bottom of the forum page, same with other forums. Here in the forum, it looks like the below image.

You explained what happens correctly. I often visit this forum from a mobile phone, unless on a rare cases I use laptop immediately after I finished a major work with the laptop. But then, any time I visit from the laptop, I locate here by searching the forum with Google. So, this also counts as traffic from Google even when I already know the forum and have been using it.

I can't use these forums from my smartphone hehe, as for me it's very hard to type from my Mobile, one is speed becomes slower on my smartphone and you won't believe it due to writing these posts on my laptop, my speed is more than 45 WPM and I recently secured an internship because of this haha. So directly or indirectly, by writing these posts I benefited a lot (although I am a content writer too)
Well, the point was, that I can't focus on my smartphone while writing, because either my friends are texting me there, or I tend to use Instagram, so to avoid all this while writing, I put my phone away. I have bookmarked this forum or used it directly from telegram mentions.

I didn't know I was not the only lazy one who only typed "altcointalk" on Google and just click the redirect link from there instead of typing the direct url everytime I wan to read the forum from my laptop..
Everytime you open the forum without logging in the system counts you as a guest, I think that's the only reason that number is always higher than registered users on daily.
Well, this forum works better for me on smart phone, I guess it's because I'm more faster on phone keypad and a big snail on the laptop keyboard.

Lolz, it's not just you alone, I think it's the majority of us who have mastered the use of smart phones over our various types of laptop and desktop computers.
And I enjoy accessing not just this forum, but the other forum as well, from my smart phone for the same reason, which is faster typing in terms of posting replys and comments.
But when it comes to creating threads, using a smart phone is a real headache, most especially if the thread is going to contain alot of links (back links) and images, this is when the use of a computer becomes really important as it makes the job way faster and easier than using a smartphone.

Everyone is lazy hehe and we should not call it an act of laziness but to make our task more speedy, like what good in writing the website name on google while we can just click and open the threads directly. Well, everyone has their own ways.
That directly opening of site without loging in can be a valid reason like one just opened the site and without loging in start making posts and then did not published them from the same device but from Smartphones, it is a valid point but WHY someone would do that too? I am totally oppsite of what you are with keyboards.

To copy signature code is more easy on desktop too, but I've mastered the act of copying it on my mobile phone too, it's slower but I get it done.

I don't stayed logged in - after few hours of not using the forum it logs me out and everytime I come back, I use the forum on read-mode to find interesting topics before logging in to join discussions.

Okay, I use it by logging in all the time, as I have opted to stay logged in all the time option while logging in. BTW, is there any reason you prefer to log out from the forum? I mean I thought maybe it is some kind of security-related thing, like to be on the safer side.
It is hard to find interesting topics here, though, maybe because I don't go into other sections yet as there are many sections here where I am not active.

Everytime i log in and log out on my desktop it auto logs me out on my mobile chrome browser too. And for the forum; there are too many inactive boards and less interesting topics this year compared to last year.
I'm active on only few boards now.

Well, without a doubt it's quite good to use the forum on smartphone as it's portable and it's always in our hands or pockets.
However, the experience of writing on desktop is much better but some people do have multiple things on desktop and that's why it can be hard to give proper time to the forum sometimes.
I only use the sites on smartphone to check out things and my accounts aren't online on the phones, but it sounds good to hear that someone can use it effectively without any hassle. :)

You can check like this: https://altcoinstalks.com/SSI.php?ssi_function=whosOnline
I don't know where 2937 guests come from though. It seems even higher than Bitcointalk's number on the index.php page.

All accesses to the forum outside of registered users are considered as guest access. This includes numerous search engine bots, crawlers, spiders, etc.. Although 3000 such visits are too many.
I remember that there was a discussion here, about why after opening a new topic, 50-60 views appear in the first minute, which also seems somewhat unrealistic.

But when it comes to creating threads, using a smart phone is a real headache, most especially if the thread is going to contain alot of links (back links) and images, this is when the use of a computer becomes really important as it makes the job way faster and easier than using a smartphone.
To copy signature code is more easy on desktop too, but I've mastered the act of copying it on my mobile phone too, it's slower but I get it done.
You are absolutely right, I completely forgot about this actually, and let me say that up and until now, I still can not copy signature codes using my mobile phone, I always have to run to my laptop computer to get this done any time I get in a new signature ad campaign, this is mostly on the other forum though, btt I mean.
For this forum, the admin have made it pretty easy to copy signature codes even while on mobile by simply clicking the [select] button next to the code header in the top left corner above the signature code itself, kudos to the admin for that feature, really useful for mobile users to be honest.

This thread needs to be locked because the needed answer had been gotten and nobody will give new answer to the Op question therefore it is better to lock the thread so that people will not come and spam it without contributing anything to knowledge.
And even if anyone say something it would be what have been said. And from most of the comments I have seen after the second page, it is not the course of discussion but other things.
